You know I think it unusually self aware of our Governor to realize that she is a "misfit".
Okay let's go down the check list:
Slam Joe Biden. Check.
Quote Ronald Reagan. Check.
Say freedom a zillion times. Check
Mention her kids. Check. (Must remind the base that she is still just a simple hockey mom.)
Remind troops that her son is serving in Iraq Check.
(Wait did she say she prays for the wounded soldiers to get better and have fun? Nothing spells F-U-N like getting your leg blown off.)
The word for today is "Selfless". Write that down kids.
I love how she feels the need to explain what a "Falcon" is to the soldiers. ("It flies proud". I have absolutely no idea how she came to that conclusion.)
There are dangerous "machines" threatening more and more places on the globe? Did she just watch the "Transformers" movie before leaving town? What in the hell is she talking about?
Why can't this woman say the word "feel" correctly?
Wait! Who is she blaming for cutting money needed to return troops home after serving overseas? Has anybody else heard of this?
One of my commenter's said that she stole the John Kerry joke she tells at the end of the video from David Letterman. I cannot say that would surprise me one little bit.
She is campaigning, pure and simple. WTF?
ReplyDeleteBTW Phil, you need an "s" at the end of "give" in your headline. I am Palin-ed out for the day. Disgusted that the teeting twit thinks she is POTUS. I have never witnessed a more delusional narcissist - never.
Also, too, nothing says F U N like getting a Traumatic Brain Injury, either, Governor Simpleton.
ReplyDeletedear mother of god. I only made it to 3:26 minutes. She is so inarticate that it's beyond belief that she stil attracts national attention. it is very scary.
ReplyDeleteToo painful. I did make it to 0:24 though.
ReplyDeleteI bet she's going nuts that Jackson died and stole all media attention. And I love that she made a joke about Kerry's appearance. So now it's open season on the Queen's looks. Right? Sauce for goose, sauce for gander, and all that stuff? Were is C$P's outrage and demands for apologies?
ReplyDeleteI could not watch the whole thing either :(
ReplyDeleteSomeone on Mudflats said she said something inappropriate @ about 3:26.
I skipped through parts but did he the "There are dangerous "machines" threatening more and more places on the globe?" that Gryphen mentioned and was like WTF???
WHY is she talking anyway! Since when does a sitting Governor go out on a "look at me" tour?
I hope there is a rude awakening for her when she step on US soil.
Does Rosetta Stone have a cd for Sarah’s foreign language? Whether you read transcripts of Sarah or listen to audios of her screechs, (not speeches) neither makes any sense! Was that a home-schooled journalism degree? Sarah has single-handedly added one more W to journalism: 'who-what-where-when-why and WTF.
ReplyDeleteMany places provide a sign language interpreter for speeches, but can you imagine the poor person that would have to do that job at one of Sarah’s speeches? OMG! I can just envision the look on their face! Would be fun for a SNL skit, or our favorite Jon Stewart makes the best facial expressions!

HAHA, nothing better than a moron criticizing the speech/writing of another person and then making a mistake like that.

I AM an interpreter for the deaf and have tried, just out of curiosity, to see if I could interpret bits of her speeches. I don't know which hurt more...my hands or my brain which tried to put the word salad into some coherent language!
@Anon, did you forget how to use quotation marks? I can throw down on the MLA and many editing style sheets. You're so on, baby!
ReplyDelete@Anon 6:36. Did you forget how to use quotation marks?
ReplyDeleteAnon @6:52 (the interpreter) - thanks for the description - that's what I envisioned!
ReplyDelete"Opposite of Governing" is at it again....I'll take your word for it....can't listen...
ReplyDeleteAnon 6:36, only a very bitter and unhappy person goes on a blog and gives people who don't agree wth them a hard time. If you can't HEAR how STUPID Palin sounds in her speech, you must have barely gotten past high school.
ReplyDeletePalin is an idiot and no wonder Kerry said he wished she would disappear!! Are you so dense (like Palin) that you don't get people are sick of hearing from her! She is inappropriate!! It is FAR too early to be running for president. If she had any desire to better herself by studying political history, she would see it's too early. But alas, Palin and her cult do not believe in education or intellectual curiosity! If she thinks she will ever get near the white house by using a negative approach of degrading others, she is wrong. If you want to help her tell her to do a better job as governor and stop campaigning! Everyone (but your cult) wishes she would go away. Open your eyes! Read! Watch something other than Fox.
I think "machines" was supposed to be "regimes." Watching it, I couldn't help but feel extraordinarily sorry for the poor soldiers that had to sit through it.
ReplyDeleteTwo things about Scarah's Kerry joke: 1) It's an old David Letterman joke and, golly gee, she forgot to give him a shout-out for some reason, and 2) Scarah claimed to have watched Kerry deliver his "missing governor" joke on the teevee, to which I say BS. No one who covered that story yesterday had video, and still no videos are turning up on Google or Youtube. That whole anecdote is a Palinization of reality.
ReplyDeleteHoken: I guess you did not read the See4Pee site: they said in so many words that they are writing her speeches...
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting the video. I did read your comments and the comments of the commenters but couldn't get thru more than 0:25 (secs) sorry.
ReplyDeleteI really like the comment by Anonymous @6:52
Hoken@ 8:18 makes a very good point also, too!
ReplyDeletejeez...this speech is all about her!
ReplyDeleteYes, she plagiarized the joke from Letterman. Or I should say whoever wrote her speech (Stapletongue?) did.
ReplyDeleteAnd she apparently showed up for some sort of formal function in a tee shirt, pants and boots.
At least it wasn't a miniskirt this time. Although I think the troops would have appreciated that a lot more.
Remind all she ran for VP - check
ReplyDeleteMention clothes and being underdressed right away - check
say that securing freedom in Kosovo helps secure freedom in America huh? - check
I knew it! Track was "scared to death" and said, "No way you're not coming over here are you Mom?"
I was just talking about this last night - Bristol's been used, Willow skewered, Baby Trig has had his moment of poutrage, and Track KNOWS he's next - either him or Piper anyway.
Track would prefer to stay in Iraq permanently, probably, rather than have to come back and be trotted around like a prize sow by the Gov.
My prediction? He will decide to become a career officer and will stay as far away from Snow Witch's cammpaigning as humanly possible for as long as possible.
YOu know those guys are all just mentally undressing her and automatically tuning out that squawking Mom's-nagging-again voice.
Oh God help us, that was pure torture.
ReplyDeleteHelen,
ReplyDeleteTrack and Piper have already been used. In inteviews at the palace by the lake Tracks picture just hapened to be in the center of the frame ALWAYS! ANd Piper was used as a human shield at last years hockey game when mommy dearest wannebe leader of the free world was booed...
Thanks for watching this, because I just can't listen to that voice anymore and the endless nonsensical "blizzard of words" as AKM so eloquently describes her speeches.
ReplyDeleteI could only take a couple of minutes before I got nauseous. The part where she said her son cecided to enlist. Is that how it happened Sayrah?
ReplyDeleteNote: some of this is paraphrased summary. If it's in quotes, it's what she said.
ReplyDeleteFeeling underdressed? Wasn't it on purpose? "Biden addressed you more formally...how would I...and you know...and the patches I received from you guys...if I were in a suit and tie? So I had to keep it casual."
She strategized how she could be more appealing to the troops.
Oh, there it is: "America will be that 'Shining City on a Hill'...we are that beacon of hope, of light, for the rest of the world."
Not random words. Reagan was inspired by a sermon of puritan John Winthrop in 1603, based on "city upon a hill" scripture from Matthew 5:14.
"For we must consider that we shall be as a city upon a hill. The eyes of all people are upon us. So that if we shall deal falsely with our God in this work we have undertaken, and so cause him to withdraw his present help from us, we shall be made a story and a byword throughout the world."
Winthrop was governor of the Massachusetts Bay colony and part of the witchhunt mess in Salem.
A fervent Puritan, Winthrop's imagery of the model Christian society as a city on a hill became an American literary and political motif.
Three hundred and fifty years later the Puritan phrase “a shining city on the hill” became a favorite quote of conservative speechwriters. Reagan borrowed it.
Touching on the KFOR falcon mascot:"Falcons are a big strong mighty bird, it flies proud."
Actually, falcons are small and light-boned; the fastest-moving creatures on Earth and renowned for exceptional powers of vision. They fly at high speed and change direction rapidly.
Addressing budget cuts in the US: "Heaven forbid...the travel issue...what nonsense...Some of you are not funded fully enough to return home...unless it’s on your own dime."
What?! Soldiers at the end of a tour of duty don't have a plane ticket home? Since when? How would that work? The US military is going to leave a bunch of citizens in the countries that they were deployed to? REALLY?!
"...Alaska is his (God’s) creation, he just dumped extra beauty there. But, here halfway across the world, it really makes me realize how gorgeous, how beautiful, how pristine, the rest of the world is too."
"Thank you for helping to clean it up, in more ways than one."
What the heck does _that_ mean? The word "pristine" doesn't come to mind, describing Kosovo and Prishtina. Or Amsterdam or Munich.

"Children of Conflict" Faik Konica (the school that Palin tweeted about)
"...whatever I can do for all of you representing other states, certainly I will, I’m happy to work with your governors too."
Aaawww, shucks. She's gonna help ALL the nation's military, nice. But wait, did she assume vice president's duties because she was the runner-up? Did the VP lose his crown? What happened while I was asleep? Did we have another election?
She's going to play nice with all the other governors? Which ones? The ones that she publicly criticizes?
"How do you keep up on the news? How do you keep up with what’s going on? Yeah, [giggle] you know, some of that stuff you see on TV [eyeroll gesture], you don’t wanna believe it...[giggle]"
What did that have to do with anything? As the "chief of the Alaska National Guard" and a mother of a soldier, you know perfectly well what communication services are provided for the troops. Disingenuous. Manipulative. A transparent attempt at damage-control for bad publicity based on your poor choices and lack of discretion. Shame on you.
Consider your venue and location, Palin. You were in Kosovo, not the Alaska State Fair.

ReplyDeleteShe addressed 140 aviators. I guess that counts as "100's of troops".
Cheering Kosovo Capital Prishtina Welcomes US Vice-President Joe Biden
"Cheering Kosovo crowds welcomed Thursday the US Vice-President Joe Biden. The newly independent Republic of Kosovo awarded Biden its highest medal, the Golden Medal of Freedom."
http://tiny.cc/sAySD
He was wearing a suit. Bummer.
Ah, shoot... no medal for GINO? Does she write her own speeches or just wing it? She is a national embarrassment. The only good thing about this whole "Look at ME!" Tour, European Tour is that no one really cares and she's not getting national coverage. Although, also, I think the AK blogs are getting lots of hits this weekend from people curious to know back stories. Oopsie Sarah and Meg. Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive... therefore, too.
ReplyDeleteOMG! I just can't listen to her but those who could do so. I'm assuming that someone in a "real" government position probably had to go behind her and correct her misstatements to the troops. What an effin disaster. This convinces me that God really does work for the USA, cause he kept her out of office.

Passed that comment on to one of my closest friends, a scholar/researcher whose specialty, reporting to the military, is TBI. Heartbreaking, they are...
OT BUT: This is excert from page 5 of 6 of new Vanity Fair online article about Palin:
ReplyDelete"He added, of the poor communications operation run by Stapleton, “I don’t know what part Sarah Palin plays in the lack of communications, but I don’t think she’s aware of how big a problem it is.”
Looks like Meg, once Palin gets wind that others consider Meg damaging to Palin, just might be the next one thrown under the bus.
That would make 3 who know enough about Palin to bring her down and who have far less reason to keep supporting her.
Ok, make that 4: Meg Stapleton, Bill McAllister, Talis Colberg and Dr. Cathy Baldwin ( who, if other bloggers have their way, will soon be pressured to discuss Palin's Texas trip and attempted murder of Trig.)
Just watched all 10 awful minutes of this. There's a of talk about respect and appreciation for the military, but seemingly not enough respect to actually prepare and deliver a tight, well written speech. Lots of rambling, just get those buzzwords in there...
ReplyDeleteNewt Gingrich is also very fond of the "City on a Hill" reference, having made the recent effort to position himself as the official keeper of the flame for Ronald Reagan. But at least he's spent a lot of time actually studying US history and the lives of past leaders. I am sure HE wouldn't have had any trouble listing some papers and books that he reads, and also wouldn't have taken such a question from a journalist as a "trick question" or some kind of insult. He instead would have treated it like the softball that it was, and probably used it as an excuse to list some of the books and articles he has WRITTEN...
What did I notice most? That the soldier whose back of head and shoulder is at the left side of the frame through the entire video seems to get just as bored and eager to get on with it as I did: at around 5 1/2 minutes in, he starts to fidget, even seeming to chew his fingernails at one point. He settles back down only when SP announces she's wrapping it up - relief at last!!!
Signed, Armchair Jane - site would only let me post as Anon.
