APOC carefully explains that gifts belong to Palin, unopened or not.

In one lingering issue, the Alaska Public Offices Commission has refused Palin's request to keep secret the discounts that come from her husband's Arctic Cat sponsorship. APOC also said Palin needs to disclose all the gifts she received last year, rejecting her interpretation that she doesn't need to until after she gets around to actually opening the gifts.

Palin has told APOC "there are boxes of unopened mail at this point, even mail that was delivered in 2008."

This may be one of the dumbest excuses for not disclosing income that I have ever heard.

"Looky here your honor. Those gifts? In my house? With my name on them? From my supporters? Well those could belong to just about anybody!"

"Until you actually open them you cannot really prove they belong to me, now can you? You betcha."

"And as for that money from the Arctic Cat sponsorships....well our troops are dying overseas......and Todd is on the couch........I never spent any of the money no how.....so why do we have to count any of that either? All mavericky."

My favorite thing about this story continues to be that it was La Palin herself who stepped in it -- who announces publicly that they have unopened monetary gifts sitting around in their home?

It's like saying, Please, IRS, come visit me!

Sarah Palin doesn't seem to know that laws apply to her? Does the woman know ANYTHING?

Oh, wait. This is the same lady who thinks there is a "DEPT. OF LAW" in Washington...The same lady who in July 2008 couldn't tell a CNBC host what the job of Vice President entailed

Sarah from Sand Point seemingly operates like an airhead gangster moll, and her current supporters are gangs of ignorant hateful Internet thugs who don't understand that IP threats and addresses are recorded.

  3. What makes anyone think Palin will open those letters and boxes and truthfully report what is in them? Don’t be surprised if you smell smoke. It would have made more sense for APOC to send a truck to confiscate all those letters and boxes before something happens to them.

I think she already opened the envelopes that contained $$$$$. Someone from IRS should be sent to monitor the opening of the boxes to get an accurate account of the contents. If left up to Palin...well, we would never really know, would we?

No one's going to monitor the opening of the gifts: she will eventually state a $ total of all the gifts, and then it's up to someone else to disprove that. A long, boring business.

That why babygate, once proved, is so appealing. Pregnant? Or not? No grey areas. Once proved, that is. But, I know: I'm naive: SP will find a way to over-complexificate babygate, too, once all is revealed.

  8. APOC have ruled correctly. For too long her illogical statements have been accepted without question.

Gryphen, pardon me for going OT but I have a suggestion. Now that you have made Fox News, why not put together a 'killer' post about Babygate, succinct yet compelling. Audrey and Patrick I'm sure will be only too pleased to help.

This will serve two purposes. You have more exposure at the moment so the story will reach many more who are currently ignorant of the details, and it would also test the reaction of Palin and Van Flein.

Information about Arctic Cat and Undisclosed Unopened Gifts needs to be reported to the IRS. She has to declare this stuff as income. Unlike your powerless, toothless Alaska Commission, the IRS does not like to be stalled, stiffed or lied to. Any benefits received in 2008 should have been on the tax form filed in April 2009. Let the Feds get her. (Maybe she needed to "retire" so she could get all her complaints in order). I think that the IRS offers a finders fee, up to 10%, for someone who can turn in the tax-cheat and prove it.

    -Macaroni art from children
    -fan mail and hallmark cards
-Crackpot letters, esp those containing unidentified white powder
    -Candy & cookies

I think Gryphen should NOT take on Babygate right now. Sorry just my opinion. PILING ON does not make you popular. And most of these individuals have guns and I doubt that they would think twice about shooting up a school or a home. This is what Racism2009 looks like. But Gryphen has taken his stand, let's see how this turns out for him. Remember, it's his turn at the head of the line, not ours.

Hope the IRS is watching. They are pretty good about things like this - and may have chosen to wait for an APOC ruling before starting an investigation - or it's already going on and we don't know. I have to believe that the IRS will monitor all of this carefully.

You can however, file an anonymous complaint and request they investigate if you live in Alaska.

Not sure what kind of teeth APOC has though.

  19. Newsmax is not for everyone. In a large percentage of cases, Newsmax readers experience dental plaque, softening of the brain, and doze in a folding lawn chair in public places while holding misspelled signs. Ask your doctor if you can tolerate the sheer aggravation of reading Newsmax. Agitation, snapped pencils, kicked housepets, and excessive flag-waving are common side effects of Newsmax. Call your doctor if you sustain a bout of birtherism lasting more than four hours.

    FYI, Gryphen:

You are getting a lot of attention this morning from the conservatives, by name. You are being outed big time, and that is a bit scary...

For libel to stand, in court, it requires three things, it has to be substantially inaccurate, so a minor detail being off doesn't count; it has to be malicious, which is usually self evident, although not always; and it has to do damage.

Of the three, proving damages is often the most difficult. Palin would be hard pressed to show any actual loss because of what was written, given both the volume written since she was vp candidate, AND that scandal and being in the news advances anything new she will do, regardless of being good or bad about her. THAT is where, to claim damages, ALL the parties who promote the information in some way, have to be sued. You cannot claim that the blogger, a smaller fish, did damage, while ignoring the damage from the bigger fish. Courts require that all or none be sued together for the same libel charges.

On top of all of that, Palin as a public figure has to meet a much higher standard.

oh snaps! Patrick, where will the story be published? I knew the truth would not be long for the darkness. And Maria @ 6:51 a.m. I was thinking the same thing. This blog's readership has to have increased tremendously and so another babygate post would be helpful in getting that story out also, too, to Gryph's new readers. (not saying followers - too cult-like..lol)

I went over to the other mccain and riehl blogs this morning and they are talking about having some big revealing information for their readers. Now they are stalling, saying something else has developed. They can't reveal what they have yet because they must be careful. They seem to be intimating that it's big big legal trouble for Gryph and they can't jump the gun. BTW Gryphen, I've read what they are posting from your blog that they are claiming is so scandalous. Seriously, it's all adult material meant for other adults. No foul. I hope you're not sweating that. It must be driving them crazy to be so far from Alaska. I know they are sure are being careful about stepping over the line, legally, and had to go back and delete posts and comments from both sites. That's interesting. I am curious as to how they will react to this new story coming out tomorrow.

    You know Gryphen,

I am quite dissapointed in you. From all the things I have been reading elsewhere it appears that you have been less than truthful with your blog readers.

Palin is traveling with Todd right now, doing book stuff and sightseeing. Hardly seems like a relationship where Todd is sleeping on the couch. If they were going to divorce Todd would have nothing to do with her book.

Gryphen I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you were being honest in what you believed to be true, but I am beginning to think your "source" is a liar.

And I think you would be prudent as well to start questioning your "source" before you step in any more poo.

Don't tell me to wait for the news because the Palins divorcing is not going to be in the news. Even if only one aspect of your original post on this matter is true it doesn't make the rest of it ok to spread if it is not true. Even if Levi comes out and says Todd pulled a gun on me, it wont make the rest of your story true if its not.

If your source lied and got you into all this trouble, you should out them and vindicate yourself instead of falling on the sword for a liar.

Haha I think C4P would be quite offended that you called me a C4Per, they hate me over there.
But I'm not a blind follower like the C4Pers. The evidence is suggesting that Gryphen is wrong in his assertion that the Palins will divorce.
I won't believe it just because he says so. If you are willing to blindy follow a blogger then so be it, but I am not and that does not make me a C4Per simply because I base my judgments on facts and not on "anonymous sources" who could be telling Gryphen anything.

I agree with most everything Gryphen posts here, but I'm beginning to believe that Gryphen has been had this time.

Sorry but I have to call it like I see it, I won't blindly follow and that is what some are doing. You believe it because Gryphen said it, you have no other source for proof. Sounds alot like what Palin followers do. Never question and never look at facts. I don't work that way.

I hope Gryphen can prove himself, but right now it doesn't look like that will happen.

  39. $P can avoid alienating the base AND strengthen Gryphen's original post if she and Dud simply lead (or continue to lead) separate lives without divorcing. For example, Laura Bush lives in the new house in Dallas while W. stays at the former pig farm that in 1999 became Prairie Chapel Ranch, in Crawford.

Dominionists will fret because if they don't live together, $P no longer will be under the "headship" of Dud. I won't lose any more sleep than I already do worrying about the Dominionists.

    Hey Diva @9:03am
Actually, it was Chuck Heath (daddy) who mentioned the unopened gifts.
    --------------
But $P also included a note about gifts in her 2009 APOC disclosure form, saying,

"As of March 2009 we continue to open boxes and have dozens more to go. Those boxes contain more letters of support and may even contain more gifts."

She said dozens of these boxes arrived in her offices in Juneau, Anchorage, and "to one of many homes belonging to various members of my family."

So, are you saying she was forced to include that info because her dad had "outed" her before the 2009 APOC filing deadline?

And do I understand correctly that she only has to disclose gifts valued at more than $250?

Wouldn't accepting a bunch of $100 checks violate the EBEA statute against benefiting from your position?

  43. Redhead: You made an assumption and it is wrong. Those of us here who are "regulars" have not stated that we BELIEVE Gryphen's post.

What we have stated is that he has put information out onto his blog - he stands by that information and has put his reputation on the line - we are willing to take a wait-and-see attitude to see if it is live or memorex.

This is Gryphen's blog - we are giving him a chance much like we gave Dick Cheney's Weapons of Mass Destruction (oops).

We hope these items will be proven and sourced. If everyone opposed is so sure this is all a pack of lies, why not wait and see? Gryphen has again stated that he stands by his story.

    Watergate?

Remember that? Two reporters went head to head with the President and they proved the story.

What is the issue with giving it a bit of time to see what falls out? Seems like a bunch of people have threatened to kill Gryphen in a schoolyard (?) because of a blog post.

We are choosing to give the story time. It is our choice, doesn't have to be yours.

For some reason this bothers people who don't like this blog. No one is asking for their support. We are choosing to simply wait-and-see.

    basheert,

You are choosing to wait and see, as am I. But many are just swallowing it whole as fact because Gryphen told them they can take it as fact. As of this moment it is still a rumor. An anonymous source does not make anything a fact. So until Gryphen produces proof, others have a right to question his assertion of fact.

They do not have a right to threaten him or call his school.

Gryphen has not even said that he will produce proof either. He has not said that his source will come forward about the divorce speculation. He has not said that the news coming out will even involve the divorce question. He has not said proof of a divorce is even coming. So there is a legitimate criticism to make of Gryphen right now.

    I'm a patient person.

Isn't Sherry Johnston's trial or whatever tomorrow? The one that was delayed until Palin was out of office. (And it appears, also out of the state since she's in NYC.) I'll wait to see what happens there first. And if anyone connected with it talks.

Then...isn't there a long interview from Levi coming out soon? And an article in Vanity Fair. I'll see if the word gun is mentioned in that at all.

Lastly, exactly what does Todd traveling with Palin prove? They can be separated and still travel together. Even share the same room. A lot of rooms come with two beds. The ones that have one bed have a couch. It is quite likely that Todd traveling with Palin was a last minute decision to counter the rumors of the split. Perhaps someone might find that Palin's ticket was booked in advance and Todd's added at the last minute. And maybe Todd was added to the room registration at the hotel at the last min. as well. Gryphen is in no position to investigate that. But I'll bet the National Enquirer is. And hey, why hasn't the National Enquirer been threatened with a lawsuit.

Sarah Palin is a public figure. Just because she resigned she did not get her privacy back. She gave that up when she decided to become a celebrity. Gryphen has written nothing that provides any grounds for a lawsuit.

The Palinistas on the other hand have opened themselves wide up. They should be on their knees right now thanking whatever god they pray to that Gryphen had already decided to give up his day job before they attempted to get him fired through slander and libel. Because falsely accusing someone of pedophilia for the express purpose of getting them fired from their job because you just don't like what they say is illegal. It's why we should be so grateful we live in such a free country. Yes, you have the right to free speech, within limits. But your freedom does not extend to lies, defamation and loss of income. Gryphen did not cross that line. But Palin's supporters did. (I'm so reminded of her supporters at the Fire David Letterman rally. They accused Letterman of pedophilia and sexual perversion too.)

You can tell a lot about a leader by the people that work for them. I can't say I care much for Sarah Palin's supporters.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Red,

Why do you care so much about the divorce rumor? Who cares about that aspect? Gryphen mentioned other things too, but YOU seem to be focused on the divorce and his source? Why?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Red: I agree with GinaM - my focus is not on any type of separation or divorce of whatever they decide to do with a relationship

I don't believe that is the issue. A divorce is not a criminal matter. An allegation that SP interfered in a criminal prosecution IS a criminal manner. Not sure about laws in Alaska, but I'd think pulling on a gun on someone could be considered a crime.

Again, I've chosen to wait and see. Much of what Gryphen posted could very well be confirmed by other sources i.e. newspaper articles, Levi, etc.

It may be the age of instant gratification via email, but the things Gryphen alleged (minus the split info) may very well come out through other means. And it may take awhile - look how long it took to find those pesky weapons of mass destruction?

The only person that put himself on the line is Gryphen. He is taking on a political machine - not an easy task and not one everyone would challenge.

Like you, I think it is important that the truth come out - and I believe it will. I honestly do not believe the majority of us on this blog want to see lies and rumors be presented as fact.

SP is out of office - what benefit do we get out of this? Actually very few people give a damn about her at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Gee whiz, everybody, Gryphen never said the word, "divorce" in relation to the Palins. He said "splitsville" "decided to end their marriage", and "having marital problems".

It was the C4Pers, and then everyone else who decided to send hate comments and e-mails to Gryphen and about him, who said "divorce".

They really aren't the same thing, and Gryphen's words may have certainly been more accurate than "divorce".

But I guess that's the whole point of Palinbot tailspinning -- accuracy isn't important when you're using a personnel bomb.

Sarah Palin has a track record of lying. We can prove that simply by going back over claims she has made to the media, but especially if you look over the claims she made about her governing in Alaska. It is all easily provable, and with such a history, why anyone would believe anything she says is beyond understanding.

She lied about the bridge to nowhere.
    She lied about the pipeline.
She lied about the Troopergate investigation.

These are but a few examples.
