Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey
The entire show was just as good as ever. I absolutely love it when Jon shows they hypocrisy of those who want it both ways.
Palin and her little box of crazy had me laughing as that "little" box isn't so little any longer, it has grown to the size of a 18 wheeler!
You'll notice that the complaints are going to start because the White House is upset about the Obama girls being used in an Ad, and so the complaint will be "what about the Palin kids", but it is pertinent to remember that the Obama girls haven't been placed into the forefront of discussion by their parents unlike what has been done by the Palin's.
Palin specifically brought up her son in this latest "death panel" statement. When she was going to drop the puck at a hockey game, she specifically said she would put Piper in a jersey because "they wouldn't dare boo Piper". She uses her children to score points, and to make points and then cannot understand why they are part of the conversation, whereas the Obama's have gone out of their way to avoid having their children be in the spotlight and as part of the general every day discussion, whereas Palin has gone out of her way to keep her children in the discussion all the while complaining that they are there.
Re Lynne at 10:39 a.m. - Gryphen you have got to link the image that Lynne mentioned. It captures Sarah perfectly - from the "fuck me" hooker heels, to the dollar sign belt, shopping bags and, or course, iceberg!
The Daily Show's healthcare panel discussion also nailed the debate side of healthcare.
I'm leaning toward Samantha Bee's assertion that death panels are just too large for the government to handle effectively and need to be left to private insurers. John Oliver's rebuttal that this still wouldn't close the gap and provide universal access to death panels also has its merits.
Ed Schultz did a bit on salary’s at Health Insurance Cos. Insurance company executive Mr. Steve Hemsley makes $102,000 PER FLIPPIN HOUR!! That’s right folks, ONE HOUR. Ed reminded us how angry we all were over banker’s salaries & bonuses but the GOP, lobbyists and insurance companies have gotten people so distracted with their Disturb the Town Halls tactics, that the general public hasn’t been paying attention. If they were they’d be more outraged at the insurers instead of those trying to get them a decent healthcare plan passed. Link to video: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/32364762#32364762
Part of Ed’s conversation regarding CEO pay of Healthcare co: SCHULTZ: But they also have to contend with insurance CEOs, who are lobbying hard against any kind of reform. It‘s not hard to figure out why. The CEOs are maintaining wildly extravagant lifestyles by denying patients care.
The production company Brave New Films just put out a new film exposing one of those guys, like United Health Care Group‘s Steven Hemsley.
(BEGIN CLIP)
STEVE HEMSLEY, UNITED HEALTH GROUP: My name is Steve Hemsley and I‘m the president and chief executive of the United Health Group. Our mission at United Health Group is to help people lead healthier lives.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: The CEO of United Health Group, Steven Hemsley, his salary 3.2 million dollars.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The incredible gross profits of the private health insurance industry that is at the core of the problem.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Two years ago, I think the president of United Health Care made so much money that one in every 700 that was spent in this country on health care went to pay him.
SCHULTZ: Profits these insurance companies are making, folks, absolutely, they are obscene.
(END CLIP)
SCHULTZ: In case you‘re wondering, that guy speaking at the end was your favorite talk show host, Ed. I would like to remind you about the outcry from the Congress and Americans when those auto industry executives — remember when they flew those corporate jets into Washington, when they were looking for a bailout? The media was stuck on that story for two weeks. Those trips cost about 20 Grand. You know, to fly that G-4 or G-5 in there from Detroit, 20,000 dollars in gas.
Now Steven Hemsley makes, get this folks, 102,000 dollars an hour.
You want to know where your premiums are going? Where‘s the outcry?
Where‘s the coverage on that?
Joining me now is political activist and director of Brave New Films, Mr. Robert Greenwald. Robert, great to have you back with us tonight.
ROBERT GREENWALD, BRAVE NEW FILMS: Thanks.
SCHULTZ: What motivated you to do this story and go after the executives?
GREENWALD: Greed, obscenity, anger and real fury among my colleagues at Brave New Films, who are focused on the fact that this is a story, Ed, that‘s not being told. It‘s a fundamental issue. And I really think that our country is facing one of those critical moments where we look in the mirror and decide who we are and who we are not.
Now these men, Hemsley, is making this money by literally, not figuratively, taking it out of your pocket, and putting it into his mansion. I don‘t know how he sleeps at night, in any one of his eight or nine or ten or 12 bedrooms, knowing they‘re being paid for by denying care to you, being denied care to your family, and to your children.
That‘s obscene. And we‘re proud to be able to bring this to people‘s attention, and say enough is enough. We‘re mad as hell.
See the rest at the video link.
Please make this viral, if you have a blog, write a post about it. It’s disgusting that the naysayers have distracted us all so much that no one is paying attention to the fat cats getting richer and richer while our loved ones suffer or die.
Ed also slammed John McCain during his psycho talk segment for lying on Sunday during a CNN interview in which McCain actually said ‘Not one Republican had anything to do with the health care bill. Not one of us added anything, it’s completely written by Dems.’ He showed a clip of John McCain being interviewed by John King who just sat there and nodded when McCain lied about Republicans authoring anything in the bill. Ed said, yeah nice went totally unchallened I see. It wouldn't be CNN if lies were challenged.
John McCain is nothing more than a BIG FAT LIAR!!!!!!! AGAIN!
@ MadCity Chick... Right on with your thoughts. I saw Big Ed on 8-10-09 as well and it was a great segment. People should be outraged at the salaries these Health Insurance bosses are making. There is a lot of MISINFORMATION going around on the issue and these people showing up at the town halls remind me of the poor woman at the McCain-Palin campaign rally last year in Minnesota. Remember? She was SO MISINFORMED by the fear mongers that she actually thought Barack Obama was "an Arab!" These people should be outraged at the insurance CEO's, not Obama or the reps at the meetings.
The entire show was just as good as ever. I absolutely love it when Jon shows they hypocrisy of those who want it both ways.

Check out Kathy Griffin's interview with Levi on Larry King, it is too hilarious!!
ReplyDeleteIt is on Huffington Post, I cannot get it to paste in here.
Sarah will be very angry that Levi is getting all this attention.
