Ruh Roh! I just don't think "Zoiks" quite covers this one.

Usually when somebody makes a prediction that the Dems are in trouble in 2010 I just discount it out of hand. But this is freaking Nate Silver of 538! This guy is NEVER wrong!

If he is right, and he always is, then it looks like the Democrats need to get off their asses and get to work.

Maybe they could start by getting health care reform passed.

Just a suggestion.

They should just pass it. Forget the GOP knobs, forget what they say, the Party of NO.
Just pass it and try to get on with running this country instead of letting the teabagging idiots try to run it.
They lost...bye,bye don't let the door slam on yer ass on the way out....!
GOP better concentrate on what losers they will try to run for '12. LOL!

  2. The first step is actually reforming health care insurance and insurers... as he continued to remind in his weekly address.

  5. It's the public option. Without it health care reform isn't reformed. If the Dems give up the public option, they will be in trouble in 2010.

    Period.

I don't understand why they're being so accommodating? They don't need to be bipartisan on this. They control all three houses; senate, representative and white. What's the problem?

Okay. I know what the problem is. No spine. No balls. And bought off by healthcare and pharma just like the Republicans.

All this compromise makes me sick. Just freakin' grow a pair and tell them where to go.

  6. This is off topic and I apologize. For the last two days that I logged on to your blog, I got messages by my antivirus program that they had blocked something that could harm my computer. Know it isn't you but could someone be playing tricks?

I Cant believe anyone would defend Glenn Beck!!! And that they posted here!!

The Democrats are in trouble if they don't start being stronger and more proactive about real health care reform. The blue dogs really piss me off. They take money from the health care industry and then talking down the the public option? Sickening! And letting Sarah Palin, a nobody, an idiot, an unemployed far right nutjob blogger influence everything? What the F! They read the polls so why give the nut so much airtime.

No wonder Sarah left office. She's not under a microscope now and she can have a ghostwriter write for her. I never heard CNN say she never wrote those posts and of course she didn't. Now her stupid base think she's a genius.

I blame the wimpy dems and the media. The dems should be fighting harder for health care. We need people Luke Rachel Maddow in office. Smart articulate fighters.

  8. If the Democrats are slaughtered in 2010, that means this country is dumber than any of us ever suspected. And it will probably mean our Sarah will be president in 2012.

Start planning your move to Canada now!

In all seriousness, Nate said that that was a worst-case scenario. Being a little unscientific, a lot of people like to compare BHO to FDR. In that case, the Dems will win 10, 12, and 14.

We're gonna have to wait until ~October to see if the health bill passes. If it doesn't, or it sucks, and the Dems can't convince everyone that it's the Repubs fault...this country is f****d.

As for the Blue Dogs: they're Republicans anyway. The DNC should just run some real progressives, since they really have nothing to lose if a Repub takes the seat. Who knows, we might be pleasantly surprised. Rachel mentioned a poll where TX and MS (!!!) would be swing states.

  9. I think what Aussie Blue Sky meant to tell you is: go to this website, and thank the advertisers for pulling their advertising from Beck's show. Brilliant! I just sent several emails, you should too!

  10. Considering the foothold the Dominionists have on our country be afraid, be very afraid.

  11. The public option *is* the compromise. Because it's single payer this country needs. They gave up single payer for public option. If they give up public option....NOTHING is left. It's just smoke, mirrors and more money in the pockets of the for profit health insurance companies. *They're* the ones standing between you and your doctor. *They're* the death panels.

There are certain things that should not be for profit. Schools. Police. Fire.

If anyone else said "Give me your money or you die." they'd be locked up for extortion. Except....if they're an insurance company. They kill people on a regular basis and are never charged with murder. Because....it's just business.

  12. Here is a dealio I don't get
Repubs are all up in arms about the Gov trying to have any say at all about their Health Care (well any future Health Care)

Don't want the Gov snoopin' in my biz!!!
Stay out of the American People's Business life

but then on the flip side.. the Gov can wag their finger and pass laws up to yin yang about
    their (our) "Personal" life
Who to marry, who to love, when to have kids, what religion we should follow...

So let me get this straight
Government shouldn't be involved in any "money making" issues in our life
    but
Should be involved in our personal moral lives?

HUH? I'd personally prefer the Gov. to stay outta both.. but if I "have" to choose (Dem or Rep) ... I think I'd rather have the finger wagger in my material world (business) not my moral world (heart)

  14. Above aussiebluesky posted Glenn Becks defend him site. Please go there and contact all the sponsors who dropped him as well as the people who are "loyal" sponsors. This site is great for us because of the contact lists.

Clearly we are not doing this for him - we are doing it against him! If he has all these people campaigning for him then surely we can spend a half hour or so to do the same.

We cannot let these people take over our country. They may be a small group but they are dangerous to democracy. They want their voices heard and then they practically shut down town hall meetings. Now the idiots will wonder why they never have town hall meetings again. They cut off their own noses to spite their faces.

  15. Nate Silver's article isn't THAT down on the Dems. He just gives a possible worst-case scenario based on a recent Rasmussen poll. He's not saying it's actually going to happen. Two completely different things.

    ReplyDelete

    "Based on a Rasmussen poll."

That says about all you need to know about the accuracy of the "projection". Rasmussen is not known for its unbiased polls. Rather it is a right leaning pollster organization that spews stuff that other outlets (like Nate) are foolish enough to pick up on and respew.
