You cannot see it, but I am standing up and clapping right now.

The Justice Department’s ethics office has recommended reversing the Bush administration and reopening nearly a dozen prisoner-abuse cases, potentially exposing Central Intelligence Agency employees and contractors to prosecution for brutal treatment of terrorism suspects, according to a person officially briefed on the matter.

I am very glad that Attorney General Eric Holder has the balls to pursue justice in this matter.

And hopefully this is just the first step toward holding those that damaged the reputation of this country for the last eight years responsible, and making sure they face prosecution for their crimes.

  3. I am standing and applauding with all of you!
This is fantastic news. Let's just hope they keep on investigating and end up prosecuting.

  5. Not to mention--get Jay Bybee's ass the hell off the Ninth Circuit, and disbarred; which is exactly what he deserves. If not a jail sentence on top of it.

  8. You're absolutely right Gryphen, but would you be so gung-ho on cleaning up the disgrace if it was your party and a Dem president who were responsible. Don't forget Gryphen, Clinton started the Kosovo war which was a complete setup for political gain and all the Dems supported it. Of course the repubs condemned it soundly. You Americans usually just support your own party's wrongdoing and injustices.

Any of your followers here screaming about Obama's continuing slaughter of Iraqis in a war that was illegal and immoral to start with? Nawwww, it's your and their war.

  9. YES "the straight goods" I AM standing up and shouting about the continued Iraq AND Afghanistan wars (which Mr. Obama did NOT start, YOUR Mr. Cheney did based upon lies he made up himself).

Many of us are VERY VERY aware that this stupid idiotic war is still going on and we want it stopped.

On the other hand, your people just say "no" automatically to everything - even things that could possibly make things better for individual citizens. It's all about selling out the country to Corporations and Businesses.

We cannot just investigate the CIA - it has to go all the way, Yoo, Bybee, Gonzales, Addington, Cheney, all the scumbags. And I'd say the exact same thing if they were Democrats.

After all, didn't you Repukes spend over $20 million investigating a blowjob? Wow, now there is national security.

But that's what Repukes do - for some reason it bothers them that they can't watch everyone have sex through their snoop cameras. They are so bloody concerned about people's sex lives - if it wasn't so sick, it would be hilarious.

So bring on the investigations, the Special Prosecutors and the indictments. All of them, whoever did the dirty deeds - and we know who all of them are don't we?

  10. Basheert dearest, I'm not a repuke, I'm a Canadian. And I'm definitely not a rightie! Even if I was a conservative supporter in Canada I would still be a leftie to you Americans.

But you have to admit, there is not too much flak being thrown at Obama for supporting the continuation of the Iraq war and none being thrown at him for the Afghanistan war. And I've heard all the excuses about how your country can't pull out now because it would be abandoning the Iraqis, blah, blah, blah.

So good for you if you aren't in the group who gives Obama a pass on the Iraq war, just remember though, you're one of a few.

  11. @Basheert...re: straight goods. This poster is not a repub...he/she is a canadian like me. I love this persons posts...but they are very outspoken, and sometimes comes across a tad arrogant.

However...I believe were this person to be an american, he/she would be a progressive

  12. OH, and basheert, come up and live in Canada. You may fit in and be quite happy. Just don't bring any guns and stupid American attitudes with you. And no fking flagwaving either! One thing I can say pretty well for certain Basheert, is that you're never going to change your country's attitudes to where you will be satisfied.

Here's the problem with this news. The grunts are going to be the fall guys, even though they were assured by the DOJ that this was all legal.

The WRONG people are going to be prosecuted. Home come Yoo, et'al get a free ride? They were the "Generals" who lied to the grunts and everyone else. THEY are the ones that should get indicted. And this is different than "just following orders". Supposedly these "orders" were legal according to the DOJ.

But as usual, a grunt is made the scapegoat for the "little people", and the rest of the Beltway goes along it's merry way free of worry.

    What crap.

  14. Anon 4:34, upon what inside information do you base those allegations? None? Thought so.

  15. To the straight goods,

President Clinton went into Kosovo to stop Genocide! It is a huge difference than a pre-emptive war that was a huge effin lie. You need to get your facts straight, or maybe a straight jacket.
Why do you repukes constantly defend Bush after all the wrongs he has wrought on this earth? Will you ever face reality?
