Do they get the Rachel Maddow show in the south?

Because somebody really needs to reach out and tell these people that their Senators simply do not give a shit about them.

"Do they get the Rachel Maddow show in the south?"

*whispers* I live in Texas, and hubby and I frequently watch Keith and Rachel. We just pull the blinds and keep the sound down low so we don't get killed by the wingnuts.

  2. We know that... We are making some inroads as these wingnut reps make asses of themselves. Saw Dr. Joseph Lowery last night at the nearby college. Anyone who has a chance should see this man. For you non-southerners, this area is predominately white, so the audience of over 250 people was 99.9% white. We aren't all boors and racists.

Yes, I love watching Rachel and all the rest of the MSNBC gang. I live in the South; red necks all around. And I definitely know my Senators do not really care about the average citizen.

Come on, now; you don't want people judging Alaska by the 89% who gave her a glowing approval rating, now do ya?

  5. I live in TN and watch Rachel and Keith most every night. I also live in Jim Cooper's district, a blue dog. I wrote several times to him about supporting the public option. He is against it because he rakes in a lot of money from insurance companies. Our Senators are both assholes. Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker. Corker is trying like hell to make a name for himself. He's doing a really bad job.
Nashville, where I live, isn't as bad as east TN, where everyone is a GOPer. Memphis, I hear, is better than Nashville. But Memphis is stuck with the Ford Family. I just wish I had enough money to move back home.
See? I've lived here 14 years and it still does not feel like home to me.
    Pretty pathetic.

gryphen, the south has the largest percentage of ignorant people than any other region in the country. that's how these politicians get where they are. ignorants + greedy repubs = majority, and the rest of us are just s.o.l.. it's just the way it is.

the ignorants have bought the line that "people shouldn't be asking for handouts from the government" so they do without and think others should do without, too.

the greedy repubs have private insurance, and they don't care how much they have to pay because in their minds "supporting capitalism" is more important than having healthcare for everyone - like the ignorants, the greedy repubs also believe universal healthcare is depending on government to solve your problems.

so unfortunately these two groups form a majority in the south, which is why we get these f-heads in government. the rest of us just have to deal with it. we are a minority in terms of population numbers.

While I don't take offense at that comment because I live in the South, you are pretty much right.
People are ignorant here. I moved here when three of my children were in grammar school. When they started school here, they were so much more advanced than their classmates. They missed six months of school and were still ahead of their class. The Southern states are Red states. They always cut funding for public schools. We are surrounded by Christian Private Schools. They are really, really expensive. Even if I could afford them, I would not send my children to them. They are as Frank Shaeffer described in his book. They are the schools that indoctrinate kids to believe republican talking points, to learn republican behaviour, and I don't know why they are called Christian schools because they definitely do NOT teach the ways and love, mercy and kindness that Jesus taught. If you are not one of them, then you are nobody. Worthless.
But there are some of us down here that DO have brains. And we are stuck living in these hell holes.
And don't even suggest moving away. If my Family and I could do that, we would have been far, far away from here a long time ago.
So please, do not lump us all in one category because of geography. Yes, we are out numbered. But there are some good, kind intelligent people among us. They're just hard to find sometimes.

  8. I hope she will list the senators and Congressmen and what they receive as blood money from Health care lobbyists.

It might interest the tea bigots to know that if represented by numbers, half the tea bigots marching on Washington over the weekend would be dead from lack of health care.
Think that is a concept they can understand?
Or is that a goverment lie too?

Joe Wilson is my congressman (no, I did NOT vote for him), and I watch Rachel Maddow AND Keith Olbermann. I also have a law degree and am a huge liberal. We're not all idiots.

  11. That explains allot, I was born a month premature, I was 21inches long, weighed 4lbs at birth and went down to 2.5lbs and was in an incubator for a month.

Guess where I was born!! South Carolina. My entire family still lives in that godforsaken place.

I am the only one that has ever lived anywhere else. I have been in West Hollywood, CA for about 6yrs.
