MTP panel discusses Alan Grayson's controversial statements on the House floor and completely dismisses chance for 2012 candidacy of Sarah Palin.

Rachel did a great job of pointing out that Palin's pick for a ghostwriter was no accident. She, and her publishers, knew exactly who Lynn Vincent was, and who she had been associated with in the past.

I am not fan of Mike Murphy's but his line about buying Sarah's book after it gets spellchecked was priceless.(Sarah Palin portion starts around 4:46 on the video.)

Thanks for posting that Gryphen. I thought Rachel did a good job and I was glad that she brought up the whole Lynn Vincent association.

Rachel is right. The unemployed grandmother willfully continues to make choices that appeal to the uglier impulses that exist in Americans.

She doesn't want to be POTUS, she just wants be the cult leader of angry bitter Americans.

  3. I hope Rachel Maddow becomes a regular guest on Meet The Press, because she has shown she can more than hold her own with the variety of other guests on the show.

If someone can break through the monologues of the likes of Pat Buchanan and Dick Armey, and counter their shrillness with a calm reasonable response, they can debate with anyone. That's what Rachel Maddow has done in the two instances I've seen her on MTP.

Sarah's friends at WSJ have another "never happen" story on her for 2010. See this.

Rachel Maddow does a very fine job. She has become my favorite on MSNBC although I really enjoy KO. His histrionics are a lot of fun. But,
histrionics aside, he is addressing the issues.

Mike Murphy was full of "zingers" today; he also said in referring to radio talk show hosts "...they couldn't deliver a pizza, let alone an election..." Loved that one.

can we quit with the dang acronyms peeps...

sheesh... pretty soon the English language will be distilled down to consonants and acronyms....

OH... I think it already has been...

please... let us USE our language.... and not go the way of wayward lazy texting teens...

we need to teach them better... we need to practice better than that... STOP with the acronyms and text abbreviations!

You Americans need to start watching real news and learn something about what's happening in your country and what's happening in politics. Not to mention, what normal people are doing in normal countries. Try BBC and if that makes your brain feel too full then at least try PBS.

I've been saying for years now... the "right" needs to take their party back. The right needs to "answer", as Rachel says.

I never was bothered, really, by the Republican party... until the past 8 years or so. Now it's a party of christian right-wingers. And *that* bothers me.

Anybody here at all interested in Obama pulling down the missile shield
based on promises from Putin that Russia MIGHT consider sanctions against Iran?

Did anybody on this forum get a whiff of the international crisis that was touched off when America refused to announce the findings of a secret Iranian nuclear plant so Obama could paint a picture of a nuclear-free world?

Why don't you all take a five-minute, 29 second time out from Palin-as-Antichrist and see what's going on in the world as it is.

To bring you up to speed, Sarkozy has just found out about the Iranian plans, he has huddled with member nations of Europe about it as well as Nato and he reflects the outrage that the matter has not been brought before the security council in front of the world. Study his face
and the dagger thrusts of his hands. This is not Sarkozy speaking for the French; it is a world leader of a nuclear power speaking on behalf of American allies who feel betrayed by the United States for playing footsie with Iran and Putin in such a way that puts the entire continent of Europe in harm's way:

For those who really give a shit about accountability you can read about the dangerous fissure that is being widened between the U.s. and its staunchest ally:

Google "Brown and Sarkozy rowed with Obama over Iranian nuclear announcement".

You are, of course, free to wallow in your Palimania while others sweat out a coalition of France, England, Germany, Australia, Canada, Poland,
Czechoslavakia and a dozen other countries letting the U.S. live in it's "virtual" world while they deal with issues more substantive than the position of Palin's book on Amazon.

@3:57 - You are always wrong about everything. You were the one who ranted on here about Palin's "new handlers" and how fantastic her speech would be in HK. How can you even show yourself here after you were so wrong? You, sir, are a fear-mongerer, and therefore, I have no use for your opinions.

You have come to this forum with a GROSS misconception about the members here and what the general topic of daily discussion IS...

If you don't like the topic of discussion GET THE FUCK OUT... we don't need a lecture from you or anyone else about other matters, with an implication by YOU that we focus on NOTHING ELSE outside of Palin... WE don't need a lecture from you about other world matters... most of us are pretty well read, so THANKS for the heads up... but get on subject, get up to speed on subject of the BLOG or shut the FUCK UP...

are you so BORED being out of work that you have to blast a blog site about NOT being on the same page as you are??? 24/7???

    sheesh...

go blast your shit at Politco, they would probably be more welcoming, but WAY ahead of you...

@3:57pm, HELLO! The post here is about Rachel Maddow on MTP. It is not about OBAMA or "the sky is falling"
Chicken Little go spread your fear, elsewhere.
We all know how to dial up NPR to get our news.
    Thanks but good bye.
Don't let the sky fall on your head.

Yeah, certain people wish that Obama was on the same level as Palin so that they could rightfully criticize him as we rightfully criticize Palin-- but they have no idea how harsh liberals are on their own people, unlike the Palinisatas fawning acceptance of Palin and her policies which are the opposite of what she claims to stand for, by any objective measure.

It won't happen, because Obama is doing his job. He's smart. He's engaged.

If you don't like hearing Palin criticized, this isn't the place for you.

Stop trying to divert our attention elsewhere. We aren't the people who will keep her from ever getting the nomination in 2012. You can thank your won party for that. They are the people who leaked the truths about her after the campaign as well.

    Damn liberals! LOL.

    I'm confused...what is a normal country?

Anonymous @7:11, great point! I thought the same thing; folks try to distract negative attention away from SP by changing the subject to PO.

Anyway, thanks for sharing Rachel, Gryphen!

I love Rachel! However, I don't think Palin will sell a ginormous amount of books. Might not even get the 1.5 mil sold. I was looking at Lynn Vincent's book, "Donkey Cons" on Amazon. When it first came out a couple years ago, it was $24.99. You could go to Amazon now and purchase Vincent's book new for $1.97, or used for .95 cents. So, what does that tell you a)about the author; b) about the book. Palin's book is #1 for 6 days so far - number #1 of what - #1 of books not read? And, if you order a Newsmax Magazine subscription, you could get Palin's book "Going Rogue" free. Yes, FREE. What else are they going to do with all those books they bought on Amazon to bring her ratings up - no one will buy them, so they may as well try to give them away. I'm sure they will even have a problem giving them away. And check with Title Wave again in a month after the book comes out. See how many used "Going Rogue" books they had to turn away or trash.

  19. Anon 9:37, I bought one of those penny-plus-postage copies of "Donkey Cons," and it's just as dreadful as you might imagine. Murphy might have gotten off a zinger about saying he'd read $P's oeuvre "if it's spell-checked," but I doubt her audience cares.

On the off chance that someone was selling the bound galleys on eBay, I checked "going rogue ARC" (stands for "advance reading copy"). No galleys, but I was staggered to see how many people are offering the book for "pre-order," and virtually all for a higher price than the $15-something that Amazon's charging. In some cases, full price! Who'd pay full price to pre-order that online?? The very few auctions so far that have started with a low bidding price have ended up near the Amazon figure by the time the auction ends. The mind boggles.

Actually, I do watch PBS, BBC, and my local news along with MSNBC and CNN. I used to watch FOX until I realized that really weren't reporting news, just spewing out anti American rhetoric.
