Oprah Winfrey is only the beginning for Sarah Palin's book tour.
Starting Nov. 18, the day after Palin's memoir "Going Rogue" is released and two days after she is interviewed by Winfrey, the former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate will make appearances around the country, from a Barnes & Noble store in Grand Rapids, Mich., to the Army post in Fort Bragg, N.C.
Harper Collins spokeswoman Tina Andreadis said Wednesday that the tour will run through at least Dec. 6, and that Palin will travel for part of it by bus.
First Sarah will charm the queen of daytime television and then she will take her show on the road to visit places ALL over these United States.
Well I guess not ALL over: No stops are planned in Seattle, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and other major cities and book-buying communities that are standard for authors on the road, but where the voters tend to be Democrats.
Well yeah but WHO takes their book tours to Los Angeles and Seattle anyway? Oh, everybody? Really?
Yeah well according to Sarah' very own Facebook ghostwriter she is going to be talking about her book with some VERY important media stars:
We’re in the process of arranging interviews with local and national media. An interview with Oprah Winfrey is already scheduled, and I’m also hoping to have the opportunity to talk with Bill O’Reilly, Barbara Walters, Sean Hannity, Greta Van Susteren, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham, Dennis Miller, Tammy Bruce, and others, including local Alaska personalities Bob & Mark and Eddie Burke. (Variety is the spice of life!)
Hmm well gee it looks like beside Oprah and Barbara Walters, all Sarah has lined up are Fox "not the" News flunkies and bat-shit crazy right wing radio hosts. Not exactly reaching out to mainstream America now are we?
And speaking of bat-shit crazy radio hosts did you catch the last two choices from Alaska on that list?
She has Bob & Mark, two sloppy juvenile delinquents that spent so much time trying to look up Sarah's skirt that they did not notice they had lost a THIRD of their market share as Palin's popularity plummeted, and of course THIS guy!
Yeah because when I think fine literature, I picture a fat guy with a giant red t-shirt covered in insults and with the word "racist" misspelled. Gazing at that shirt makes me want to run right out and buy "War & Peace". And then beat him unconscious with it.
I think the only way Sarah will sell many books in THIS city is if she promises to disappear forever once she sells enough copies. I believe Alaskans would line up around the block for THAT deal.
And you know what? That marketing technique might work in every city and town she visits, including Los Angeles and Seattle.
Just an idea Sarah. Do with it what you will.
Update: Geoffrey Dunn does not hold Bob and Mark in very high regard either. Here is his article on Huffington Post.
Prevo followers will purchase her book, but I think other Alaskans will be more interested in reading Frank Bailey's book.
ReplyDeleteHilarious post Gryph! Why is she even going on this book tour. The reason you do a tour is to SELL your book. All the people who will be lining up to see her or watching her do her Faux Noise Studio tour most likely have already bought the book, so what's her point?
ReplyDeleteThis whole thing is such a joke and reminds me of her trip to Auburn, specifically her parade beauty walk. Geesh!
You have to admit, Sarah knows her market. Exactly how many right wing, crazy, wacko, nutjob Talibangelicals are likely to buy her books in Seattle, San Francisco or Los Angeles?
ReplyDeleteRead Patricks message on palingates. He has some great points for you. You guys should all share info - the truth might come out sooner so why not
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to know you all wernt working together.
Andrew Halcro exposed Palin as a fraud and a phony. He has a new post up: http://www.andrewhalcro.com/coming_monday_baileys_on_the_rocks
ReplyDeleteHe says: "The co-authors of Bailey's book, Grace and Morgan, are setting the stage for one book that lovers and haters alike won't be able to avoid reading."
Andrew is spot on regarding her shenanigans. Well done Andrew!
Gryphen - Your suggestion is brilliant. Even I, who would not spend $0.01 for her book, would buy many if she would promise to go away to a very private life.
ReplyDeleteShe will need to set her goal for #s sold at the get-go so we can hold her to the promise.
Today there was a full page, color ad in our local Texas newspaper, for her book - just $4.97, plus a free 4 month subscription to Newmax (Murdock's magazine) and a bonus of Newmax's recent special report, "Sarah Palin and the Newer Feminism." My guess is Murdock bought most of the books (from himself) to get her on the bestseller list. I couldn't help myself, I drew horns, mustache and goatee on the quitter's picture.
ReplyDeleteI picture her sitting in Podunk, Mississippi with the likes of folks straight out of a "Deliverance" movie. Each owning 2.5 teeth. That will be her crowd. Sheesh........... God love her....all to sell a few books. S.H.
ReplyDeleteHahhahahhaaaa, I was watching Rick Sanchez today and a commercial came on. The commercial??? Get this, You can purchase "Going Rogue" and get also, too, a 4 months subscribtion to a magazine (forgot the name of it). Also, something to added to it, wait for it!!!!! $4.99 plus shipping and handling of $5.99. YYYYeeeeeeaaappp. They must have bought loads of books to get it to best seller list and now have to unload it along w/magazines!!! Bbwwwahhahhahahhahahhaaa.
ReplyDeleteJust today I've seen Sarah's book offered for $4.95 with a magazine subscription and for free in a google ad that I did not open.
ReplyDeleteHow's she gonna sell any books at her book signings if her followers can get her book free before its even released? They'll just bring their freebee to get her signataure?
Unless she starts charging for the signature.
Ha! I would like to point out that the add I am now seeing on this site if for a Free Offer for Sarah's New Book.
ReplyDeleteSarah's book tour is almost an oxymoron isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHere is a link to Going Rouge: An American Nightmare http://orbooks.com/
It won't be sold in stores, it's their first publication (I think) and has essays by Shannyn Moore and Jeanne Devon ...
I put a link on my blog, I encourage you all to add it to your emails, blogs, websites etc ..

mlaiuppa. it's Palibangelists.
ReplyDeleteI know it's a small thing but we should all be on the same street when we refer to them. The Paliban are a real and dangerous force against our country and laws. It is our civic duty to report them to the authorities should we see them in public. I have seen them get on airplanes so i can tell the no fly list is greatly lacking. We already know they have many cells in America. Our vigilance could make the difference.
I've been to Cincinnati and Roanoke this year for work, and I don't really see them as being all that thrilled with SP in those 2 places.
ReplyDeleteI have been both bemused and astounded at the very basic spelling errors among the teabagger crowd. To wit:
ReplyDelete"Thank You Fox News For Keeping Us Infromed"
"Get A BRAIN! MORANS"
"POLITIANS ARE LIKE DIPERS, THEY NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON"
And of course, who can forget Glenn Beck's "OLIGARHY?"
These folks are not exactly MENSA caliber intellects. Their status as mental Lilliputians explains OH so many things.
I live near Roanoke, and I'm giving serious thought to showing up at the B&N with Going Rouge tucked under my arm. I would love to have her sign it. Ebay anyone?
ReplyDeleteI think Sarah Palin should do Roller Derby. It's about right for her talents and intellectual capacity.
ReplyDeleteComparing marketing plans: I have just seen Al Gore last night on Letterman, today on Rachel Maddow's show, Daily Show with Jon Stewart and 2 appearances with 2 Stephen Colberts. Al's book is being sold at $24.95. And what is Sarah doing to promote her book? Small town American Bus Tour and her book is in Walmart's bargain bin. Oh yes, two heavy weight interviews: Oprarh and Barbara Walters. Sarah had better watch out. She thought that Katy Couric was going to be a cupcake interview.
ReplyDeleteI read that Sarah will be traveling by bus with her family and Meg Stapleton for about 3 weeks or so, starting around Nov. 16 through Dec. 10th. I just don't get how Sarah can pull Piper and Willow out of school yet again for an extended period of time, just so she can do more self-promotion while hawking her book. None of Sarah's 5 kids have ever been on a track for success, and Sarah just doesn't get it!
ReplyDeleteFrom Chris Matthews on Hardball tonight (and Matthews is usually nice re Ms. Quittypants):
ReplyDelete"I’ve got it. You go home and check with your voters Congressman. A lot of your most trusted voters who like you personally are scared to bejesus out of Sarah Palin. She’s a theocrat. She’s a…she’s so far out in terms of basic American notions of pluralism that your voters would think she was frightening."
Teabagger spelling error addendum:

"REPEEL CONGreSS"
Brilliant! Don't just peel them, repeel them!
Hahaha. I guess she doesn't want to return to Philly after we booed her when she made an appearance at a Flyers game!!
ReplyDeleteSarah leaving her children again??
ReplyDeleteOK Gryph,
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Oprah has ANOTHER question to ask Sarah on her Show. How about..." Are you REALLY trying to sell any of these books..? " At this point Oprah needs to point out to Mrs. WhackJob some of the Cities that ALL of her Other Authors go to when they have Book Tours. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to see that Her List has no resemblance to any other Book Tour. Why is THAT?? Maybe the MSM will realize this Fact as well.
Could it be that after the Ghostwriter turned in the completed version/copy that even Harper Collins was so embarrassed for others to see it and critique it... that they are ' hiding it ' from everyone to save their reputation. Whatever the reason is... It's truly a Joke.
Oprah might be embarrassed to have her on as well. BTW Oprah: ask her about that NY-23 Election. Yeah... it's not in the book... but it is History.
Her list of people she "hopes" to get interviews with shows how afraid she is to be interviewed with anyone who isn't willing to slobber all over her.
ReplyDeleteOprah will not do anything hard for her, as she is simply going to ask her about the book.
Barbara Walters, once known to be a hard driving tough question asking journalist, who was unfailingly polite even while asking those tough questions, has grown soft over the years and will not be hard or even tough in her questions either.
Both know that Sarah will happily get up and walk out without batting an eyelash and then simply go to her Facebook writer and have them jot down a statement on how mean and cruelly she was treated by these jealous women, once again playing the victim. Her fans will agree and the rest of us will simply roll our eyes at what we knew was coming.
This is also why she is doing the book tour they way she is. This Blind Ambition Tour is set up to hit places where she thinks she will get the most support, the least amount of negative feedback, and draw out crowds so she can point and say..."Look at how popular I am".
People, $arah doesn't CARE about school for her kids. Wake up! She's "home-skulin'"!
ReplyDeleteThis includes, also, too, geograhy (nod to olighary) and also, too, 'Merkun English for Pro-Merka talkin'.
Oh, and after school activities of "abstinence only" for the meth crowd.
She's a C'hristian! Learnin' is the devil's playground!
Anon at 7:50, just switch the cover jacket to the one that reads Going Rogue, have her sign it, and then you can have yourself a huge auction on Ebay!
ReplyDeleteAnon at 8:33 :
ReplyDeleteShe is coming to Washington PA!!
Thats just 15 minutes north of Philly (unless there is another one further west?)
Annyway, I'm going to try and go, with Going Rouge for her to sign, and when she opens to sign, pictures with arrows pointing to a belly without a 7th month baby inside!!
Anybody want to join me??bwhawawa.
The Washington PA venue may not be a book store. I remember Lisa Beamer came here after her 9/11 book was published. ALOT of fundie Xtians showed up for that one. It was in the ballroom of a hotel in Washington PA. Sarah may be doing that as well..
ReplyDeleteDang it!
ReplyDeleteWashington Pa is a Pittsburgh suburb, not Phila suburb. In my happy haste i mistook washington for Ft. Washington, which is the Phila suburb.
I cant go 6 hours west to heckle Sarah.
I scored a picture of Sarah Palin and the bus she is using for her book tour.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/moinkslinger/4078129262/
You guessed it. We now know why Todd had to quit his job on the North Slope to make a few improvements to the bus. Yup, Yup, looks like Todd has been busy.
I am so SICK od Palin. I wish she would just walk off the edge of the flat Earth she believes in.
ReplyDeleteThe limited tour to places where she thinks she will be adored is hilarious.....especially in light of the nonsense we always hear about liberals being scared of her. Looks like she is the one that is scared....scared of anyone who won't pander to her lunacy.
