Sarah Palin inspires women to believe that if they have a working uterus they can be successful politicians. Well I guess that leaves me out.

Patricia Sullivan, a mother of four who is running in the Republican primary to take on Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson in Florida's 8th Congressional District, says Palin's authenticity and rejection of Washington elitism inspired her to launch her own political run.

"She is real America," Sullivan said in an interview Wednesday with FoxNews.com. "She's brought more recognition to the fact that moms can do it all."

Sarah Palin hired somebody to do her job for her when she was mayor, virtually destroyed the Republican party when she ran as VP, and quit her job as governor. How has THAT "brought more recognition to the fact that moms can do it all"? She never actually did ANY, much less ALL!

Lisbeth "Liz" Carter of Atlanta is planning a run for the Republican nomination to battle Democratic Rep. Hank Johnson in Georgia's 4th Congressional District. She said Palin possesses a quality that many career politicians lack: common sense. (Have these people heard her speak?)

"Her views are simple and basic," (Okay I can't argue with THAT!) said Carter, a 40-year-old mother and CEO of a small consulting group that assists private companies in executive recruitment. "She's a leader who inspired people to step up and say we've had enough. (NOW I can start arguing.)

Denel Wardell, who is running for a state senator seat in Lauderdale County, Ala., told FoxNews.com that Palin's views inspired her to seek office.

"My first obligation is to the people who elect me, not to the party I'm running on. And Sarah Palin made her first obligation the American public (WTF?)," said Wardell, who has recently worked as a tea party organizer.

"She's not manufactured. She's one of us," she said.

Wow, I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.

Look I am totally in favor of women running for office. I don't believe for an instant that they cannot do the job just because they are women. However I also don't believe that they can do the job JUST BECAUSE they are women. ESPECIALLY if they are women who are inspired by Sarah Palin!

Sarah is not an appropriate role model for female politicians. She is exactly what they SHOULD NOT be!

She lied about every facet of her life and career.

She used her children to garner sympathy and to deflect criticism.

She dressed like a slutty librarian to attract the male vote.

She refused to take responsibility for a SINGLE mistake.

And she published a poison pen version of her diary in order to make money of of her notoriety.

How is THAT somebody that civic minded female politicians should choose as their role model?

Sarah Palin has single-handedly set the cause of women's rights back almost fifty years. She has shown female politicians to be spiteful, illogical, and unprepared for their office. If I were a female thinking of running for office I would make sure to point out my differences with Sarah Palin as often as possible.

After all, don't we think ONE Sarah Palin in the world is more than enough?

Alarming news as to the motives of these candidates Who with any real common sense and a working, rational mind would want to emulate Sarah Palin? Gees.

I totally agree with you Gryphen. Anyone who bases their run for office on Palin is exactly the person who should not get elected. Great post.

The part that pushed my buttons is the statement that "moms can do it all".
Now, I'm a mom, and a feminist, and I firmly believe that women should have the right to have kids and a career and run for office or whatever; but that "moms can do it all" meme usually gets used to tell moms that they MUST do it all--have your babies, AND a job, AND clean the house, and don't expect anyone to be sympathetic when you need a nap. Why, can't moms "do it all"? You can sleep when you're dead!

Which is exactly why SP is so infuriating--you know she has money and help with all those kids 'cuz otherwise she wouldn't have any time to even pretend to write a book--and she's allied with the party that wants to set women's rights back as far as possible.

It's been four days since another Facebook message. She's in a funk. I swear, this woman is manic depressive. When she's getting what she thinks is poitive feedback, you can't shut her up .. she's twittering, writing FB comments, saying stupid things in public. But once she gets called on her idiocy she retreats (probably to some dark room ... poor Aunt Katie!) until her family pulls her out and she starts "pushing through the door" again. God, what case she is!

I just looked at the photos posted on Huff Post of Obamas trip to Asia. Busy, busy schedule. I simply can't ever see SP even carrying out the social agenda requited of a president. She would not show up for a good percentage of her committments. And that doesn't even take a brain.

What's that quote? Showing up is ninety percent of the job.

She simply can't do that ... and that's probably true of her ability to raise her kids as well ... and perhaps that's why they end up pregnant, partying, not going to college, getting in trouble for vandalism.

    This woman is a wreck.

Sarah Palin has brought a whole new meaning to "common sense" and I don't know how to define it. If I hear Ms. Palin say "I, along with most Americans...."I swear I will scream. She does not speak for me or most Americans. She needs to look at her polls going continually down.

OK, time to do a little home-grown vetting. I'm going to check these "moms" out and see what's what with them.

My hunch is they will be of the same ilk as Sarah. I'll report back.

  12. The really sad truth is we already have another $P in office already it's Michelle Bachmann. She is even more dangerous than $P with the same motives, but a lot smarter. I know she says some crazy things that make her appear to be an idiot like Palin, but I think she is just a liar like her, but not dumb. They have no place in government because they are reckless. They want to trample the rights of others and take over. They play the victim and love to stir up hate and fear to get people to eat out of their hands, laughing all the way to the bank because they got the fools to support them.

We are going to have to work hard to keep them out of office. The dems are not always right, but most try to serve the people and make the world a better place. One thing for sure is we can always count on conservatives to $crew us and we don't need that.

Even the UK is aware of their game:

It's going to be very interesting to see how successful Ms. Sullivan is in the election. I suspect she's in for a surprise, say the first time she gets asked an actual, issues-related question, and is expected to come up with an intelligent (and intelligible) answer. She hasn't got Baby Jeebus Trig to wave around, and her role model hasn't actually modeled any ability to answer questions.

Were I any of these women, I'd have to rethink Sarah Palin as an inspiration for "moms who can do it all."

Not only did she quit on her jobs, she quit on her family. Is it inspiring to have three children who were, for all intents and purposes, juvenile delinquents, one of whom ended up an unwed mother at age seventeen?

But, to report on these women who are so "inspired," I did a little vetting on the first one, Patricia Sullivan. I am NOT impressed. She's another evangelical (as I suspected). Among her many associations are David Alan Carmichael (Freedom Ministries and Faith and Freedom); she supported and is supported BY, the 9/12 'ers and the Teabaggers. She also home- schooled her children (read: kept them from learning about evolution, other cultures and the Constitution -- which would have taught them the concept of Separation of Church and State.)

She is also a Precept Bible leader and her campaign slogan shouts that she is a "Patriot, Not a Politian." And, naturally, Fox loves her and she them.

To read fully about her, just search Patricia Sullivan, Florida. I think it's time we voters started doing some homework on our own and not rely on soundbites and campaign rhetoric. Nor can we expect the MSM to give us the scoop on every candidate who comes along. We have to stop being lazy and inform ourselves about these people. I hope the people in Florida who do not wish to have their Consitiution hijacked by the evangelicals will do a little due-diligence on their own. I'm convinced that if we Virginians had educated ourselves earlier on Bob McDonnell's ultraconservative beliefs that he wouldn't have won the governor's race. Well, live and learn.

I did a quick Google Search as to reasons Women "Shouldn't" hold a public office.

Hello? I am a woman and of course I think they can.
I was only curious as to why in the past, and today... women struggle to make it in the workforce/public offices, ect..

It all kept going back to one word - Emotional

You are right when you say Sarah set women back 50 years.... she is the epitome of Too Emotional.

She can't keep her mouth shut and lashes out.
She goes on and on about the "beauty" of American and all kinds of "hollow" descriptions but offers zero substance.

Any examples are based on HER self-preceived life or hacked quotes other's have said.

She equals nothing of substance but rather shows constant uncontrolled emotion.

She is either flirting, screaming, or on the verge of crying (well fake tears).

    Thanks ole' Gal! Geesh!

just the first few that popped up on Google:

Women at Work: Too Much Emotion?http://www.webwombat.com.au/lifestyle/general/womenwork.htm

Is it unprofessional that women tend to be too emotional in ...
    http://www.jscreeb.com/2008/03/03/is-it-unprofessional-that-women-tend-to-be-too-emotional-in-the-workplace/

True conservatives should not vote for a women for any office, be it a local, state or national position. It is sad that so many people are willing to have a woman as president. It would be a signal to the world that the U.S. is emasculated, and has relinquished its governance to a gender that makes decisions based on emotion, not reason. Women are hard-wired to make decisions on emotion.

Sullivan, Carter, and Wardell will end up in divorce court if they are not careful. I only hope they consulted with their respective spousal units before pursuing a political career and have child care, maids, and a cook lined up to fill in at home. They'll be very busy on the campaign and election trails to bother with their mom, wife, and community duties.
Men can run more easily for elective office just because they have a wife to help out with the mundane yet stressful things that happen at home. Do you think Hatch or Bayh make doctor appointments for their children? Do the spouses of those ladies mentioned above even KNOW the phone number to call for one? I know my husband, an commercial air line pilot, does not. He has to look them up in the phone book, if he can remember where it is.

Sarah Palin represents an especially virulent form of ignorant/arrogant tribalism. These mental pygmies are incapable of registering the massive cognitive dissonance that their “positions” on issues set off. This does not trouble them, since they really don’t have positions to begin with. This is why Palin supporters are surprised to learn that Palin supported the bank bailouts during the 2008 elections even though she now says differently. That is why Palin could say with a straight face that she said “no thanks” to that Bridge to Nowhere.

Beyond that, Palin is hopelessly mired in the grip of her own Narcissism and intractable greed. Those are what motivates her. The positions du jour are merely the vehicles which she has harnessed for her ride to fame and glory. She is so ignorant that I think she doesn’t realize the extent of her own idiocy and how often she puts it on display. But that’s what makes her so entertaining.

    Our Sarah is a moron.

Wonder if it's TLC or BRAVO creating another version of the already far too many versions of "Real Housewives of the White House".

365/24/7 versions of Real Housewives Wannabee Celebrities but in fact are and sound and act like low-life trailer trash with IQ's lower than dirt.

I'd rather watch paint dry than watch these ad nauseam sewer rats with the bitchiest rats now getting face time on the various tabloid shows. Their whole families are obnoxious putting on display the sewer rat's self-absorbed 'Me, Me, Me' characteristics like someone else we've come to know. Wonder who?

You hear so many say they love the shows -- especially the "Hollywood Celebs" which should make you give pause as to investing in them. How small-minded and intelligence lacking can they be -- Very.

Next will be the White House turned into a Day Care if this keeps up with these idiots believing they can jump in to the race for office. Oh what a great idea for another reality show - NOT.

When are we going to realize that we women CAN'T do it all? Yes, were quite capable of being a CEO, or a senator, or anything we want to be. Heck, I was a sailor for most of my young adult life. But at some point, something suffers. I found out that I CAN'T do it all. I can't be an effective mother, raising the next generation while I am out battling the world. My children suffered. Now, I am home with them - and there's more than what pious Sarugh has in her quiver - and my children are well adjusted, no illeget grandkids, no police records, no forced in to the military, etc. We have less money because I put my FAMILY FIRST, but I also know when they are all grown and gone, I can resume my place in the work force and truly 'do it all'.
Palin is just fooling herself, and causing other women to neglect their families, for the sake of fame and fortune. What a grand legacy we'll leave for our kids.
