Sarah Palin to give a speech that she does not want YOU to hear.

Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska who last year contested for the office of US Vice-President, undoubtedly enjoys a lot of media attention at every point in her life. Media has commented on her political as well as personal life and now it appears that she is justly upset with the onslaught aimed at her and wants to prohibit the media from covering her events further. According to the reports, Sarah Palin’s speech on December 2, in the College of the Ozarks, will not get any kind of media coverage.

Elizabeth Andrews, the director of public relations of this school in one of her statements declared that the terms of the contract were mutually agreed upon by Mrs. Palin and the school authorities. Therefore, media rights to telecast this event would be curbed. She said, though media representatives will not be allowed to carry any equipment for audio and video recording at the event, they will be provided tickets to remain present in the program. It has also been reported that Sarah Palin will sign copies of ‘Going Rogue’ but it has not yet been confirmed whether any media representatives will be allowed to cover that event either.

It may confuse people as to why Palin would even bother to give a speech if she did not want very many people to hear it. But I know why.

It is because of this speech.

(You can see part two here. If you can stomach it. If you cannot stand to watch it you can simply read AKMuckraker's brilliant transcript here.)

It was after the media got a hold of THIS bizarre, wandering, spiteful speech filled with word salad and stolen bits of a speech given by Newt Gingrich, that Sarah Palin decided that she had had enough. The next speech in which the media was invited, and only given 55 minutes to attend, was her resignation speech.

Sarah Palin was so upset and frustrated that the media (and bloggers, yes I was there too) had found so much wrong with her speech that she was simply terrified at what might happen in the future.

So she quit. She essentially said take this job and shove, I ain't working here no more. (That one is for you dad.)

And then Sarah Palin turned to Twitter. And so did we. As it turned out Palin was just as ridiculously bizarre on Twitter as she was in person. So ridiculous in fact that it inspired the Tonight Show to have William Shatner read them as rambling beatnik poetry. So somebody hid her Blackberries from her. (She owes that person her eternal gratitude by the way.)

And then came Facebook. Only this time she had a ghostwriter to help her. Though it really did not help that much. Sure the sentences were punctuated properly, and somebody introduced a little concept called footnotes, but crazy Palin ideas are still crazy, even with all of the comma's in the right places.

Next came Sarah Palin's "Book of Lies".

A book so full of fabrications that if they were removed the book would only be about 70 pages long.

And, as all of you know, the media has been having a field day with this latest attempt by Sarah Palin to communicate with the masses.

It has become so bad that Palin will not even allow a film crew in to record her talking to her fans while autographing their books. Paranoid much?

Look I have some advice for Sarah.

Hi Sarah. Remember me? Of course you do, you even once wrote down my license plate number. (Yet you never call.)

If you REALLY want people to stop making fun of you, or pointing out that you are crazy, you need to do one simple thing. Shut up and sit down.

Yes, yes, yes I know that is the one thing you hate to be told (well that and the fact that Levi has a book deal), but let's face it as long as you keep talking, people will keep listening. And as long as we can still hear you, we can still tell that you are batshit crazy.

You have money. You have a brand new compound. You have your cosmetic surgery. Why not simply move on to what is we all know will be your ultimate destination. Selling cheap jewelry on QVC. And spare yourself all of the embarrassment of standing up in front of people and trying to make some kind of sense. We all know you can't do that, so why even try?

So you have a nice day Ms. Palin. And remember, your worst enemy is that person staring back at you in the mirror. Isn't it time you just fired her stupid ass?

One of your most hilarious columns yet, Gryphen! ROFL! Maybe Scarah will take your advice and go sell cheap jewelry on QVC...or her own special brand of Bumpits. Just like Suzanne Somers and Tori Spelling and Victoria Principle. And pretty soon, I'm sure her BFF Carrie PJ will also show up there(although CPJ will probably be hawking the type of X-tian lingerie she wears in her X-tian sex tapes and X-tian modeling photos).

Since Ivana Trump is Palin's idol. (Ivana's signature hairdo is the bumpit- google photos of Ivana). Palin should do as Trump and start a perfume line or something. Invest her money in a business.

What's up with this? Each time she gives a screech (sic), she does not want reporters there to record her screeches for eternity! Hmm...

Hmm... Her book is not only full of lies, but also full of plagiarism!
Alaskadispatch.com dissects her book a bit (before giving up in disgust), and has the story about her grandma on page 118 as taken almost word for word from ADN reporter Tom Kizzia's story in October 2008... (story at http://tinyurl.com/yej78qh )

Hhahahhaa, just imagine her as president, no media allowed. I'll do the state of the state address, but you're not allowed to see what I have to say or what my policies are. Yep, I'll run the country behind the curtain. She's so funny, it's not funny.

I wonder how many in the media use shorthand to take notes or if someone in attendance could do so. When I worked, I took dictation at 120 wpm. Unless, of course, they will not allow writing implements like, pens, pencils and/or crayons.

the media around when she she

A: When she knows she's a fraud and a liar
and doesn't want them to deconstruct her

Scared much, Palin? You SHOULD be because you're NOT on Fear Factor. You're in the REAL world, and there are consequences for lying.

Gryphen, I think I speak for all of us here: Has anyone seen/heard from Todd recently? Is the roof fixed? Which roof was it? The old house, the new house, or the Palmer house?

Is "fixing the roof" code for "training already for the next IronDog plus had no interest in accompanying plastic wife on fake bus tour"?

I think it's odd that she has not mentioned at any of these public events how much she wishes Todd could have come with her and how much she and the kids miss him. Maybe she doesn't miss him? Maybe if she reads this blog comment she'll throw in a mention of dear old Todd? Maybe she'll force him to show up at the next book signing with her for appearance sake?

Why didn't G and G Heath just stay home with Piper and Trig if Todd was staying home too? Sarah is supposedly a grown-up, doing a grown-up job of a book tour, so she can do it without Todd, sure, but why couldn't she do it without the rest of the clan? Is she unable to entertain herself with just her blackberry and needs Piper there to keep her company?

Any update on the construction project on Lake Lucille?

Great column, Gryphen. I'd forgotten about that speech. My thinking is that by refusing to allow the press to one of her blatherings, Scarah knows someone will manage to sneak a recording device in anyhow, and she'll get her needed publicity anyhow, from the released recording and her snitfit about the unauthorized recorder person's unholy need for gotchas.

It should be obvious to most people that Sarah cannot be a candidate for any office, if she doesn't allow media to record her speeches. Palin and simple.

I think people are getting tired of her already. I have heard that some people leave her presentations, because she rambles on about herself and doesn't show any substance. I hope the intelligent conservatives who read Geoffrey Dunn's book to be released next spring, will pass on the facts regarding Palin's record.

While there may be trouble in paradise, it could also too mean that they don't want Todd asked about his membership in AIP. He was in NY for the Walter's interview and shows up briefly with the baby and spitup on his suit. Just doesn't say much. "He doesn't like to be interviewed" according to Walters.

It's interesting how incapable she reveals herself to be. One of the things adults should be able to do is fill their time meaningfully when they're alone. Sarah is never alone- she had Todd in the governor's office, for heaven's sakes, how much can one woman demean herself then to keep her husband on her job?- and it's always a cheerleader who has to be with her. Her parents, who can't criticize her even if they were inclined because it would tell everyone what lousy parents they are- and Piper, who is young enough to still be dominated- as is Trig. Besides, Piper has to take care of Trig because he's Sarah's shield and she can't be bothered to take care of him. Bristol shows up for Thanksgiving, but Aunt Katie won't make a turkey for Sarah and her family, and isn't that interesting? People bring home guests that they know have no home to go to, but Aunt Katie isn't going to do a turkey for Sarah's crew, and none of them even make reservations at a restaurant. So why were they there? So Sarah could say she spent Thanksgiving with family? Sarah ALWAYS has somebody with her to prop her up. I bet she couldn't spend a weekend alone if she tried, let alone do a book tour.

Actually, now that it occurs to me, imagine being alone with Sarah's thoughts. Nothing there but greed and spite and mindless ambition.

    This new one coming up?
The only time she wanted the press around was at the military base so she could act tough and put down our President. Daddy Dearest did it for her anyway.
Each speech where the press wasn't allowed, someone always fills us in on the details. But how the hell does she expect to run for President if she won't let anyone know what her vision for policy is?
Even her "bots" will want to know what her agenda would be if she runs for President.

    ReplyDelete

This isn't going to stop reporting.

You'll have bloggers going who will report.

And just because reporters are denied high tech tools like audio and video won't stop them either.

I have a PDA that has a keyboard and I'm a touch typist. If I was allowed to have that, my notes would be pretty good at 70 wpm.

This may bring back that old skill of stenography; when secretaries would have to write out dictation because they didn't have dictaphones, audio recordings, etc. You remember? The days of manual Royal typewriters and carbon paper?

Palin is not going to be able to keep her speeches secret as long as she has an audience. Even if she just recorded them and sold them to a select audience, you know a blogger or reporter would get hold of one by one means or another.

Nope. Palin will be nailed. If she wants to avoid it, they only way is to keep her petard shut.

Maybe "fixin' the roof" means putting the lid back on Bailey and others who are threatening to come forward. Wonder if Todd is following Trooper Wooten again and attempting to get him into trouble..... Or maybe Bristol is getting a little too wild in Alaska (or starting a new romance) and things had to be quieted down there.

$P does not want her speeches recorded because she is fact checked, her various versions of the wild ride and other stories are compared and discrepancies and new details are noted.

She really ought to learn the lesson of telling the truth keeps you from having to remember which story you told to which person.....

Did anyone actually see Bristol in Washington state with the "Aunt Katie" group? Maybe Bristol dropped off Tripp to spite Levi and to keep $P quiet.

Some more thoughts about Sarah's speeches, especially the one coming up at College of the Ozarks:

Palingates had 2 tickets to the College of the Ozarks speech, and they were looking for "citizen reporters." Don't know if they found them yet. My guess is that there will be more than 2 "citizen reporters" in the crowd; Politico walked into a previous speech just by buying a ticket.

The Sky Mall in flight shopping catalog now advertises several different "fountain pens" that can record sound and video up to 4 hours. Are they going to confiscate pens & pencils, too, also?

Sarah says "no media" the way that Br'er Rabbit, when he was caught, said "Please don't throw me in the briar patch." His captor, hearing the protests and warnings, did exactly that. The rabbit scampered away, because he lived in the briar patch. When Sarah says "no media" what she is reallly saying is "please come and cover my speech." Saying "no media" is cheaper than hiring a publicity agent.

  48. In my opinion, one of the most interesting points regarding her refusal to have the media present (with recording equipment) is that she is the one who constantly complained about the media not getting the story correct, and the editing being done when she was interviewed.

So in order to ensure her message gets out there properly, and in the correct context she bans media recording equipment?

So does she want to be taken out of context, or be "misquoted" in order to have more reasons to complain?

The public has spoken with the mass selling of her new book and book signing attendance. They are interested in what she is doing and what she has to say.

I use to like to come here and check out what the opposition had to say. To be truely informed one needs to hear both sides of a story not just the side you agree with. But, I am sorry to say I can hardly stomach coming here this has become nothing but a hate filled site. 'Sarah Palin is a great example of an individual who became involved in her small town community and whose efforts and success eventually placed her in the national spotlight,' said Sue Head, executive director of The Keeter Center for Character Education. Gryphen, the Scarah had the college revise the 'why' no media, cameras etc. Before this, they'd said in a Srpingfield, MO KY3 news statement that it was DUE to Scarah's CONTRACT.

And, also too. The school said cell phones would need to be turned off. Not that they could not have them.

The speaking event is at 7 pm, down in the Branson area. She has a Borders book signing before that in Springfield 10-Noon.

What's really ironic is College of the Ozarks is a 'working school', you pay for your education by working at the school and school provided jobs. Quitter Scarah is thought to be a good example, lol.

Also too, Franklin Graham has been a previous speaker, gee, I wonder who got her the gig? And, this was last minute, it was not on their fall schedule before this announcement. It's free because the school sets aside funds to bring in speakers.

    http://www.ky3.com/news/political/blog/70225397.html

On the evening of Dec. 2, Palin will speak at College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout.

"Reporters will not be able to cover the speech unless they have free tickets that were distributed several weeks ago aon a first-come, first-served basis.

  66. Sarah believes she can rise to power via Soviet-style pronouncements on Facebook. NO Press, NO questions, NO dialog.
Can she REALLY believe that this will work?
Yes, I know. Her followers are just fine with this undemocratic modus operandi.
But they represent a small percentage of voters.
    Loud, obnoxious, willfully-ignorant zealots.
They won't destroy our Republic - but I shudder to think of the damage their hateful, misguided outrage will cause in the process.
Sarah and fans: Sit down and shut up - and let the rest of us get to work - WE won, YOU lost!

  67. What about college media representatives? Are they telling members of the student newspaper (assuming there is such a thing) that they can't cover the event? How about people taking notes so they can remember the deep and thought-provoking concepts that S'arah will bless those assembled with? Will there be a memory wipe of all attendees who look somehow media-ish or likely to have an opinion contrary of that which was bestowed upon the blessed assembled?

Keep it up. This is from the L.A. Times. The author is not deluded, sub-intellect. Gabler is hated by Bill O'reilly for his extremist leftist views:
I've edited it to squeeze it ion under the 4,096 character max.)

    By Neal Gabler
    November 29, 2009

It's week three of Sarah Palin's "Going Rogue" book tour, and while she has been met with rapture from her fans, she has received a wave of hostility from the mainstream media. Even domestic diva Martha Stewart weighed in, calling her "boring" and "dangerous." Palin is a media punching bag.

Which is exactly the way she likes it. It's not that Palin is a masochist. It's that she realizes how powerful a weapon contemptuousness toward her can be in the political war she will likely be waging in 2012. As commentators revile her, Palin realizes they are also empowering her. Indeed, she is engaged in one of the greatest feats of rope-a-dope in political history. Laugh at her, but you laugh at your peril. She can ride that laughter right into the White House.

No one mastered it (sic, this strategy) as well as Richard Nixon

By the time he ran again for president in 1968 -- after the best and brightest drove us into Vietnam and the liberal social engineers saw their dreams of racial harmony burst by race riots -- Nixon had learned how to nurse Americans' resentments, how to make himself the living symbol of the elites' alleged hatred for the low-born and how to tap what may be the single deepest reservoir in American politics: They think they are better than you are.

Nixon understood that anti-elitism trumps everything -- in his case, even his own unlikability. And when he delivered the masterstroke of lumping the mainstream media in with those elites, he effectively deflected any criticism of him as just more of "their" arrogance. Every time he was attacked, Nixon emphasized, the silent majority of ordinary Americans was attacked.

Palin is playing that same card... . She knows that the more pundits harp on these so-called deficiencies, and the more the media cover it, the more she can claim that they are really just engaging in an old sport: expressing contempt for ordinary Americans, of which she is the self-proclaimed political exemplar. Her self-promotion is designed to elicit their contempt for her and express her's for them, including the very title of her book... . It may even be more successful than Nixon's similar gambit.

...Nixon pined for respect. Palin appears to be unencumbered by any such complications. Supporters profess to love her because she is just like them, without airs, which may be true. Palin seems to have the benefit of her sincerity. She isn't a metaphor. She is something more effective: a personification. If she prefers the "worst and the dumbest" to the "best and the brightest," Palin fans think that is exactly as it should be, which drives the elites to revile her further, which in turn further feeds the Palin contempt machine.

And she knows she has a very good foil in the Ivy League-educated, erudite, articulate Barack Obama, who is obviously everything Palin isn't. "He's not one of us" -- a "tea-baggers'" cry -- could very easily turn into "he condescends to us."

SarahPalin can only hope that the barrage continues -- that "they" keep treating her as if she were a ninny, that "they" keep making fun of her. She can hope because she knows that mockery has a way of triggering revenge, and revenge may be the best politics of all.

  69. Darklady, COTA isn't a "normal college". it is very much a religous institution.

College of the Ozarks is called Hard Work U for a reason. All full-time students work rather than pay for their tuition.

College of the Ozarks openly discourages debt and doesn’t participate in any government loan programs.

College of the Ozarks is committed to a five-fold mission of encouraging academic, Christian, cultural, vocational, and patriotic growth in its students.

College of the Ozarks has been named a “Stone-Cold Sober School” by the Princeton Review for ten consecutive years. Alcohol and drugs are strictly prohibited on and off campus.

College of the Ozarks students experience a truly Christian environment, with opportunities to attend Chapel on campus, join Christian student organizations, and take part in Christian missions.

College of the Ozarks promotes character in young people. The College’s Keeter Center for Character Education sponsors programs and activities which enhance the development of character and good citizenship.

  70. juju - I, for one, have always appreciated your willingness to come here and see what the "other side" has to say. While I agree that there are juvenille and "hateful" posts, I suspect that many of us are simply exasperated. I do not hate Sarah (or any human being), but it pains me to see someone whom I consider unqualified, ethically questionable and intellectually lacking to be taken seriously in today's political arena.
I believe you are one of VERY few who will visit sites (other than c4p and sarahpac) and look for facts.
I apologize for myself and others when we reduce ourself to name-calling and personal slurs.
I hope you will keep an open mind.
I noticed that criticism of Sarah is NOT allowed at c4p (no matter how polite). Do you question why that is the case?

  72. Anonymous said 9:21 AM My thinking is that by refusing to allow the press to one of her blatherings, Scarah knows someone will manage to sneak a recording device in anyhow, and she'll get her needed publicity...

    and

mary b said 10:01 Each speech where the press wasn't allowed, someone always fills us in on the details.

That someone, the last time, was one of Palin's lackeys.

I don't doubt for a minute that if something filters out from any of Palin's future speeches like this upcoming one, where the media is prohibited, it'll be a controlled leak from them -- and if the rest of us are lucky, the "devil in the details" will be supplied by "opposition researchers".

Anonymous @ 11:42 has an even better take on this...

    --------------------

    From the Neal Gabler article:

"If she prefers the "worst and the dumbest" to the "best and the brightest," Palin fans think that is exactly as it should be, which drives the elites to revile her further, which in turn further feeds the Palin contempt machine."

It's one thing to be a walking talking contradiction, which is the kindest thing I can say about her tendency to lie every time she opens her mouth -- but her critics ought to be focusing on the beliefs that are fueling her ambition -- not her methods.

Perhaps it's a symptom of today's media that most members are shallow and lazy in their investigation, analysis, and opinions -- but it wouldn't take much more effort than what they've already frittered away to dig into the concept of stealth candidates, political dominionism and populist posturing -- and to realize that Sarah Palin is the poster girl for all.

  74. "Bree Palin" has a link to a most interesting blog written by a Palin-sympathetic conservative who obviously doesn't know the details behind most of the events Palin describes in her book, because it's clear he's accepted the stories as told.

And it's clear he still wants to BELIEVE, but reading the book has seriously dented his unmarred belief.

If you read anything in his long blog post, read "In Summary: Ten Things I Learned From Reading Going Rogue", first, then scroll back up and read what he says chapter by chapter.

There's a lot of good "Truther" comments (re: all of Palin's -gates) clarifying some of the blogger's confusion...

...And the whoosh-cognitive-dissonance in-one-ear-and-out-the-other comments by Palinistas don't actually start until about comment #60...

  75. Ella: No I don't question why C4P doesn't allow others who criticise Palin to come on that site. They did in the beginning when others would come and express their differnet opinions and then it begin to look a lot like this site. Just hate...you would think 85% of the people here knew Palin personally and had had a bad experience with her to have that much hate in their soul. I don't agree with 85% of OBAMA's policies, but I would never go to another site just to slander him. It proves nothing except making the person making the hate filled comments look bad. Plus they are singing to the choir. There is little upbeat here any more. Just hate. So when C4P banned outside hate most of us were glad they did. It is a very up-beat site. And, we are too busy following her and correcting incomplete and inaccurate information. Thank you Ella for your nice comments.

The reason Sarah does not allow the press into
hear certain speeches she does is because she has had the repeated experience of them mis-quoting her and not making complete quotes, etc. Everyone knows that the press has been unfavorable to her and this just keeps that type of thing to a minimun. Of course now, she is free to correct them when they do this. But, why invite the problem. Could just one person here agree with that position?? NOOOOO because nothing Sarah says or does you can agree with.
Sarah doesn't need the press. She can go right to the public via facebook and others do the reporting for her.

Kind of a silly (and late) question regarding the "screw political correctness" speech which in part had been pilfered from Gingrich: I don't recall any speech writer getting thrown under the bus by S'error over this. She writes (and plagiarizes) her own speeches?

(I guess that I can see that, although figured that someone else did a majority of the writing/ghostwriting, and that she added that personal S'error touch to the speech(es) that send them careening over the edge.)

And I also recall a daughter who posed full frontal nude, buck assed naked, for Playboy "I call it porn!" Magazine?

First, the teabaggers glom onto a fairly obscure term for a very kinky/weird bit of homo erotica as their self assigned moniker. Now it turns out that Palin has also done the same with her mantra "Going Rogue."

What is it with these tight-ass überKonservative Khristians and their apparently latent obsession with homosexuality? Me thinks thou dost protest too much. They would scream bloody murder if they could blame liberals for the titles, but the beauty is that they have tarred and feathered themselves with these terms.

It seems strangely fitting that the world's biggest homophobes have unknowingly adopted gay slang to draw upon for their battle cries.

These folks just get funnier and dumber by the hour.

It's ironic when Palin supporters come here to lecture on "hate." Do you listen to your Facebook friend Sarah? Do you hear what she says, or read what she "writes"? She's Hate Central. She'd benefit from Anger Management. GOING ROGUE is more like GLOWING RAGE.

  82. juju - maybe it is different (better?) at c4p since RAM left, but when I posted there (twice). there was nothing even close to hate in my posts.
The posts were removed - One was a question about WAR (Wayne Anthony Ross) and whether or not his appointment might upset women who support Palin. The other was a question about the appointment of a judge who was pro-choice and asking if that might hurt Sarah's pro-life credentials. Polite, legit questions - not allowed.
But - I realize that YOU are not the moderator at c4p. Perhaps you would open the site up for civil discourse (even if there is questioning of Sarah's policies and decisions) if you were in charge.
I agree with you that there is no need to allow hate speech.

To Whomever Posted the Gabler Op-Ed: You still do not get it. Many Progressives WANT Sarah to run. We welcome it. It would be a cakewalk for President Obama and VP Biden to win in 2012 against her. In fact, they would probably just send Vice President Biden to debate her and let the President keep running the country, since Palin can't or won't follow the rules of debate. Heck, she can't even hold a press conference. They might just send Chelsea Clinton to debate her.

which resulted in her resignation we, that support Sarah, say " thank you". Now she is free to do and say what she wants, when she wants and where she wants without the expense of having to defend herself through legal channels."

Well juju, she better spend that money quick or she might lose it through a libel or slander suit. With all the people she's pissing off, I'm sure a couple of them will be talking to lawyers.
