Rush Limbaugh rushed to hospital with possible heart problems. WTF?

Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh is resting comfortably in a Hawaii hospital after suffering chest pains while on vacation, his radio program says.

Limbaugh was rushed for medical treatment earlier in the day. The statement said "Rush was admitted to and is resting comfortably in a Honolulu hospital today after suffering chest pains."

Kit Carson, Limbaugh's chief of staff, told The Associated Press that he had no further information on Limbaugh's condition.

I think it is time to entertain a possibility that most of us find almost beyond comprehension, Rush Limbaugh may in fact, have a HEART!

I know, I know, I know, it seems beyond the realm of possibilities that such a hateful, evil man possess an organ capable of such incredible kindness, and dare I say it, love. But with these new developments, it seems we have no choice but to, at least imagine, that this man may have such an organ inside his rapidly decaying body.

Well as much as I dislike Rush Limbaugh (and boy do dislike Rush Limbaugh), I hope he makes a rapid recovery. Perhaps this little health scare will open his eyes to how important it is for the American people to have reliable health insurance in this country, and just maybe he might start supporting President Obama and the Democrats in their effort to provide that very thing.

Ah who am I kidding? This gasbag will leave the hospital, go to his studio, pop a couple of Oxycontin's, and start spewing forth his vile garbage just like he did before. After all Dick Cheney has had several dozen heart attacks, and it has not changed him one little bit.

But how ironic is it that Rush Limbaugh has a heart attack, and receives medical attention in Hawaii, the birthplace (Yes the BIRTH place) of a man who he has spent the last year viciously attacking? I wonder if Rod Serling was riding in that ambulance with Rush?

    What goes around, comes around.

Considering all the anger this man harbors, and the volume of hate he spews into the airwaves, I am surprised this didn't happen years ago. He's about due for 2 or 3 more.

PS, Rush: Maybe lay off the Viagra, Oxycontin, high-intensity activities (like standing sweating at a podium), and trips to the Dominican Republic to visit your "friends".

Rush Limbaugh has done much to earn my disdain and nothing to gain my interest and concern. He said that he considered Sarah Palin his "spiritual bride", so I expect he'll get whatever comfort and concern he needs from his "spouse".

I don't want his heart to stop. I just want his MOUTH to stop.

He'll never learn. If he lives (and I'm sure he will) it will be because all the right-wing evangelicals prayed for him. If he dies, it's God's will.

He has neither my respect nor my good wishes for a full recovery. Let him suffer for a while.

  17. I noticed in the "newest" portions of the comments about this on HuffPo the remarks were mostly "get well" wishes despite their opinion of RL.

I couldn't bring myself to say it.

I did, however, observe his proximity to the vacationing Obamas and speculated that he might have strained himself s-t-a-l-k-i-n-g them. Can't believe everything you read in news reports, ya know...

  18. Now, now. Ol' Rush has the heart of a beautiful person. In a jar. On his desk. I really wouldn't expect this to have any impact on his feelings about health care for all. He's spent years bitching about the need for tougher sentences for drug addicts while popping massive amounts of illegal drugs himself. I think the reference to "gasbag" pretty much sums him up nicely.

    One perfect verse:

"I didn't have to come to Maui
To be treated like a jerk
How do you think I feel when
    I see the bellboys smirk?*...

She's gone with the hula hula boys

  21. I've read a few comments on other blogs from people who say they hope he dies. I personally do not hope he dies. For one thing, wishing ill on another is bad for the karma. For another, the Rush Limbaughs of this world serve a purpose. They serve as an indicator of the right wing's mood, a way to keep our fingers on the thready pulse of the tea baggers, Obama birthers, militia members, flat-earthers, dominionists and various other wingnut off-shoots.

I'd rather know what they are planning and thinking than not know. So to the likes of Sarah and Rush, who can't seem to keep their mouths shut and seem equally unable to keep their feet out of said moths, to you I say: Live long and keep up the good work.

Meanwhile, on Christmas Eve I cut my finger. It got infected. I went to the ER and they kept me for 2 days. Then when I went to get the cast off, (they put a giant cast on my arm after cutting it open three different times), they had a problem with me because I could not pay them. Being uninsured and unemployed, rent and food for my kids take prority.

    Smoking? Cigars?

Ask you doctor what that does to your circulation. He's also overweight. So you're talking possible problems with cholesterol (leading to atherosclerosis) or diabetes. Possibly hypertensive.

Chest pains is a warning sign. He either had a heart attack due to blockage, or he got a CTA to check his circulation to see if he needs a stent or bypass surgery.

Maybe a reminder of his impending mortality will be a wake up call and Rush will spend a little time with his mouth shut.

maryb: Is the wound covered? Did you cut tendon or ligament?

If it is/was infected, soaking it 4-5 times a day in very hot water will draw out an infection. Do you have stitches?

Often a vaseline gauze will keep it moist which will reduce the pain from pulling edges when it is moved. Keeping it covered will also alleviate the pain.

(My daughter sliced her finger over the Holidays as well and did not go to an ER until 24 hours after and it was too late to suture. They are using vaseline gauze with hers because the cut is open. Keeping it covered has really helped with the pain. You can't suture that late due to risk of infection.)

Elevating your hand will help if it aches - it looks silly but often will stop the pain or at least help it a bit.

    Take care and sorry!

Thanks for the info, Gryphen. You are so witty!! The hair on the back of my neck stands straight out when I hear that man's voice. He'll probably start spewing something about a vision of evil he had from that hospital bed. LOL

I am sorry for anyone that has a medical condition or emergency. I, too, have back pain and have since 1984. Currently, I have a titanium plate and three screws at one end and a deteriorating double fusion at the other. Oh, and that bone density thing, too. I took Oxycontin for two weeks straight once after a visit to the emergency room. When I took the last pill, I waited 24 hours before taking a Lortab. And I think taking that Lortab took the edge off a withdrawal. First time I ever experienced that feeling, like having the flu for a couple of hours, but really feeling fine. Guess that doesn't make sense, huh? It was weird. I also wore fentyl(sp) pain patches for months, the dosage started out low and slowly increased three times. Threshold was finally met but the relief lasted two weeks, and then the pain came back. I was immediately stitched to Methadone, and mostly slept through the first two weeks; during the next two there was no pain relief. The first increase dosage caused a flutter of the heart. I took one last pill the next day and never took another one.

The list of drugs I have taken over the years would be lengthy. But now, I am back to Tylenol again as it at least takes part of the edge off and helps with swelling, somewhat better than aspirin. I would include Motrin with those drugs that provided me with no relief, like taking a placebo. Personally, I found nothing really works for more than about two weeks. It must be increased to maintain the desired effect.

Guess I shared all that to explain why I do understand the world of pain and how it relentlessly controls focus, comprehension, attitude and life-style. And how easy it is to become dependent on some drug. Wonder if this guy has used his wealth for research in the area of ergonomics in the workplace. Bet not. I would like to hear his view on that SCOTUS case Toyota v Williams.

I, too, hope this guy makes a speedy recovery. And prayer warriors better watch out with their imprecatory prayers! DCheney keeps spewing venom, too.

Probably. Not that the Kahala Resort isn't one of the most expensive places in Hawai'i. Enjay, for a horselaugh, Googie "Cokie Roberts Obama Myrtle Beach." She said that the then-candidate should have visited some place "normal" (by her) and all-America (Hawai'i at least was formerly a U.S. Territory), such as Myrtle Beach. For him to visit his home state, said Cokie, was extravagant and "exotic." From what I've been told, the young Obama and other people of color wouldn't have been all that welcome in Myrtle Beach.

"If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." So at the beginning I wish him recovery, not only for his heart but for his peace of mind that can only be found by honest self-examination of his life and a willingness to change.

It would be nice if he had an epiphany of his heart and conscience regarding the vile, hate-filled, unrelenting fabrication of lies that he spews forth to his ignorant listeners. Imagine Rush repenting of his vitriolic rantings and opening up his heart and mind to seeking the truth.

Yes, that would be a very nice fairy tale indeed; however, the reality of it all is that Rush will most likely continue with his unconscionable rhetoric. He will continue to enjoy the adoration of his pathetic, brain-dead listeners who revere him unquestioningly. Limpballs will probably not give up the Power and Obscene Wealth that he has garnered from his platform of Hate and Lies.

mlaiuppa: Smoking, Oxycontin addiction, overweight. He's a walking train wreck and it is only a matter of time.

Did he have bariatric surgery? If so and he gained it all back PLUS, he's done. It only works once and if you can't control your mouth (obviously?) you won't get a redo and have it work.

He is not a healthy man (nor is Cheney). When you have atherosclerosis and your vessels are beginning to clog with plaque, it isn't just the big vessels, it's all your vessels.

He doesn't care about other people's health care. He's a selfish pig and he's made a career of it.

I've wondered for a long time if the paranoia and nastiness is a result of brain dysfunction from a disease process. Especially in Cheney. Many people have said that this Dick Cheney is not someone that they knew in the past. Personality alteration is common in CAD.

I don't know what I wish for Rush. He is so incredibly negative for all of us and so destructive for our country. To build an entire career on being a dirtbag - it's hard to wish him the best.

He will not change his eating, smoking, drinking or substance abuse habits. He may do it for a very short time (fear will do that) but he won't have the intestinal fortitude to change his lifestyle.

I had a cat bite on my knuckle some years ago that I didn't get treated for 24 hours, and by then it'd developed into cellulitis and my whole hand was swollen. I just barely missed what maryb went through, a couple of days in the hospital getting IV antibiotics.

I was put on oral antibiotics and told to soak my hand in the water/epsom salts solution at least twice daily for an hour, keeping the water warm -- and yes, elevating the hand.

It took about a week to clear up, and for months afterward my hand was a weird yellow color. The circulation was somewhat compromised that long.

Good luck with your treatment, maryb.

KaJo: I'm not sure what epsom salts actually do. I do know that everytime I get anything resembling an infection, I soak in water as hot as I can stand 4-5 times a day and it works. (hubs is a doctor that deals with all varieties of really nasty wounds).

Just a word to the wise - and I did not know this until I experienced it. Living in AZ, pretty much all our yard is filled with plants with thorns. I pricked my hand on a bougainvillea and within 2 hours, my thumb had started to blow up. I was able to have him call in antibiotics and started them within 2 hours. Turns out all these sharp things, like roses, bougainvillea, etc all carry STAPH.

I did a double course of antibiotics and soaked it constantly but it still took months for the swelling to go down.

It was weird because you could see it swell up - right on my knuckle.

We are NOT antibiotic takers. Too much resistant bacteria these days but sometimes it is incredibly necessary.

Again, I don't know what warm epsom salt soaks do - it's soothing I know. My reference was to running it under hot water (as hot as you can stand) as often as you can.

However if this cut is open, that might feel awful. ALL wounds culture bacteria but not all wounds get infected. It is natural for wounds to get red and sore - with some swelling. That does not make for infection necessarily.

KaJo: Just finished re-reading your post.

Most cat bites don't become infected but you can have a response to an individual cat. One of my previous cats always caused a reaction if she broke my skin. It was definitely just her I responded to.

Domestic housebound cats aren't eating "dirty" stuff and disease transference is pretty self limited. I have 4 purebreds and not one of my cats has ever been sick. They do not go outside and their food is monitored. They are all princesses and fortunately are very healthy. They do tussle at times but most of the action involves noise and body language.

    Sorry to get off topic!

I WILL make a pilgrimage to piss on his grave. I might even take a dump as well. He is at the top of that very short and dishonored list of those truly deserving the greatest act of contempt that one can muster. They should forgo a headstone and just erect a giant urinal atop his rotting corpse. The anniversary of his passing should be made into a national holiday. Just as Guy Fawkes is burned in effigy in the U.K., we could line up to piss on effigies of Limbaugh. Children should be given the day off. It could be a grand holiday. He is a right bastard.

The only thing that could be better news would be to learn that he had been sentenced to life in a Dominican prison where he was the newest and puffiest on ramp to the highway of prison "love." He might then understand how the Dominican children he molested felt. I guess that is something to look forward to in the new year.
