Well I was going to post this story tomorrow, but you guys are a few steps ahead of me.
Yes Sherry Johnston is no longer as resident of the Hiland Mountain Correctional Center and is now back home with her family, just in time for Christmas.
Levi surprised Mercede, on the day before her birthday, by bringing their mom home without first notifying her of his plans. It was, obviously, an extremely pleasant surprise.
I talked to Mercede about it today on the phone and she was over the moon with happiness.
She also said that Sherry was very pleased with the support she received from this blog, and from all of you who left such kind words of encouragement and who kept badgering me to check up on her and make sure that she was alright. Yes I did as you asked.
Sherry and Mercede both visit here so if you want to leave them a further message of encouragement, please feel free.
Mercede, I hope you are doing well. I admire your determination to attend college. I hope you will do so!
ReplyDeleteSherry, I hope you have a wonderful holiday at home. Wishing you and your family a fine New Year.
Sherry and Mercede and Levi,
ReplyDeleteA very, very merry Christmas to all of you! Sherry, I'm so glad you are together! Have a cyber-hug from me. :-)

I would like to weigh in. While the Johnstons have had their difficulties, they are lightyears beyond the Palins in terms of integrity and what appears to be genuine niceness. I wish them all the best and hope they know that the Palins WILL get what they have coming to them.
ReplyDeleteAh, what a beautiful way to end an evening. May your holiday be blessed. Peace.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy for all three of them!
ReplyDeleteSherry, Levi, Mercede -- best wishes for a very happy holiday, enjoy your reunion!!
I've got to agree with anon @6:18, and add how impressed I am with the obvious love Mercede and Levi have for each other, and with the genuine decency Levi exhibits. Sherry, you've raised a couple of terrific children.
ReplyDeleteltl
This is truly wonderful news. I'm so happy for Mercede, finally having her mommy back home.
ReplyDeleteWishing the whole family a very Merry Christmas. Mercede, I'm so glad you got the birthday present you most wanted.
ReplyDeleteThis brings new meaning to I'll be home for Christmas. I'm so happy for the whole family. There is a lot of love in this family. Real love.
ReplyDeleteSherry, the fact that your children actually WANT to be near you and support you is a testament to your love for them, and theirs for you. (In obvious juxtaposition to another mother we are all familiar with here).
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and I hope that you get to share the holidays with the rest of your family, including Grandchild(ren).
Mercede, count your blessings. You are fortunate to have a mom and a brother that count you among their dearest people.
People make mistakes. That's Human Nature. It's nice to see that this little family has stayed together despite the turmoil. Move forward, Johnston family. You're already light years ahead of the "others".
I'm so glad to hear you are home safe with your family just in time for Mercede's birthday and also for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a merry Christmas and happy new year from my family to yours! Take care!
I wish you all the best of joy and love that this season brings! Levi- you are an inspiration to young men everywhere about how to support your family, and DSherry- stay strong for your kid's sake as well as your own. We're all pulling for you!
ReplyDeleteMuch love, DivaBabe
Happy news! I'm so glad for the Johnston family.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas from Connecticut, Mercede, Levi and Sherry!
Mercede, Sherry and Levi: I am leaking tears of joy, knowing you are together for Christmas!
ReplyDeleteWarmest hugs and positive vibes to all of you! :)
Family is everything. The rest is dust.
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you are all together for the holidays. That makes all of ours so much better. Our family is your family, seriously. No difference. I wish you, and the rest of us struggling for connection and family affection, all the best.
Johnstons: You are worth a thousand Palins. And it is probably that realization that is behind their ugliness to you. They are all show, all fakery. But no matter what they buy or try or say or do, they are ugly people.
ReplyDeleteMercede, Sherry, and Levi--I am so very happy for you. Stay strong. I am ready to continue supporting you in 2010. With a lump in my throat and with tears of joy, I wish you a very merry Christmas from PA.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and happy holidays to all of you. Stay wise, smart, and together in the coming year.
ReplyDeleteI very happy that you are all together finally!
Sherry, Mercede, and Levi,
ReplyDeleteI wish you all the best christmas ever!
Sherry as one mother to another, you have to great kids :) both poised, gracious, and dignified young adults. No matter what else that makes you a success as a mother :)
I hope these next few days are filled with love, laughter, and hugs.
I want you all to know that beyond the whole media saga many of us truly care about your family, may the new year bring success, happiness and never ending joy.
And Gryphen thank you for putting this article up and for being a supporter of the Jonston family, I truly believe without the media exposer Sherry might not be home with her kids where she belongs.
"Vengence is mine," saith the Lord. I suspect He has special plans for Queen Esther Quittypants. I doubt the plans involve high office. Welcome home, Sherry. Now, Levi, time to get custody settled for Tripp so he can see the good grandma and not just the evil one.
ReplyDeleteJohnston family- I am so glad you have been reunited in time for the holidays. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteYou guys are great! So glad you can be together for a time that is meaningful to you. Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteGreat news - it is plain to see that the Johnston family is genuine and full of love.
ReplyDeleteYou have people rooting for you - people from all over the Country and beyond.
Bless you Sherry, Levi and Mercede and Merry Christmas.
Levi, Mercede and Sherry...Merry Christmas! You all desevre good things for remaining true to your spirit. You guys are the "real deal!" All the best to you in being able to see you sweet little Tripp.
ReplyDeleteSherlock ;0)
Wow... that Mercedes is quite the pretty and statuesque girl... er, woman. Makes me wish I were back at 20.
ReplyDeleteAnyways... Sherry Johnston made some mistakes. BIG mistakes. But unlike her almost relative, she took her bitter medicine with some grace.
s'error palin could learn a thing or two about redemption from Sherry Johnston. The grace, I believe, is beyond s'error's grasp.
Stay clean, Sherry.

Sherry, Levi, and Mercede, I wish you all the love and joy of the season. I am so happy to hear that you are all together again and I hope you know how much you are loved and supported by so many who have been touched by your honesty and integrity through such difficult times.
ReplyDeleteStay strong, and move on to a new, better life without all the baggage of the last couple years. I am praying for you all! Merry Christmas!

To Sherry, Mercede and Levi: This is great news! How wonderful that you can be together at last. I hope that 2010 brings joy to all of you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful birthday present for Mercede and Christmas present to all. It is evident that Sherry is a wonderful and caring mother, her children are a testament of this. Joy, Peace and Love to all.
ReplyDeleteSherry, Sadie, Levi,
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas! I am so happy for you and wish nothing but the best for you all in the coming year. As I sit with tears of happiness streaming down my face, please know that your family has the support of many.
Sadie, stay true to your dreams. Go to college, blaze a trail for yourself, work hard, follow your dreams. I promise you it is a big and exciting world. There are so many opportunities for you.
Levi, see to your family, care for your son, care for yourself. Find a way to create a future for yourself that you will be proud of.
This is the same advice that I have given my son and daughter.
Happy New Year -- All the Best to Each of You

To the Johnston Family,
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to see you all together and just in time for Christmas. Share this time together and know that you have many supporters out there. Take care and God Bless. :)
Sorry to put a damper on evryone's Merry Wishes to the Johnston Family, but they also need everyone's support in another matter.
ReplyDeletePalingates has posted the Palin Family Christmas Card, includes the youngest Palin, Tripp. (I thought his surname was Johnston, and that his some of his relatives didn't get the chance to see him all that often). So, now Tripp is a Palin.
Wonderful news! This family deserves some happiness after what must have been a really difficult year.
ReplyDeleteAll the best to Sherry, Mercede, and Levi. I hope they find a happy ending soon.
Merry Christmas, to the three of you. Sherry, Mercede, and Levi, peace be with you and a Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteSigned:PVAZWINDY
Merry Christmas to the Johnston family. May 2010 be a better year and bring you happiness. God Bless.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy, healthy holidays season and an even brighter New Year.
ReplyDeleteIt is ingrained wisdom for teachers that you can tell a lot about the parents by observing and listening to the children. This becomes even more pronounced as children become adults. Sherry, it is obvious that you have done a good job as a mother to have raised two children who care so much about each other and you.
In a time when many families are fraying apart, it is reassuring to see a family, that even under severe public pressure and stress, demonstrate care for one another. Your family has shown grace under pressure and that must surely come from inner strength and strength derived from trust in one another.
We hope other families benefit from your example. May you grow even more in the coming year and demonstrate how people can recover from mistakes to live productive, happy lives.
Blessings be with you and yours. - Ks Sunflower
Sherry, Levi and Mercede,
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for your family. I know this reunion has been a long time coming. I am so glad you will be together for the holidays.
Sherry you have raised 2 wonderful children. You must be proud of how they have handled themselves over the last year. I know all of us here are proud of them. They have shown great maturity and grace.
I hope you all know that you have the love and support of people from all over the country. We are pulling for your family and wish you much happiness in the coming year.
Take care and God Bless.
You both look beautiful!! What a fabulous photo!
ReplyDeleteAs someone who also had to take pain medicine, I empathize with Sherry. It's very difficult to live in pain. Please stand up to the Palins as much as you can. She is one crazy wackjob and the majority of Americans know that. I hope at some point you will be able to safely tell
more of your story.
Have a wonderful Christmas and here's to a Happy NewYear for your family including Tripp Easton.
Dear Sherry, Levi & Mercede,
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed Christmas and New year...!
I think this New year will be very blessed for you!
Namaste...
"I'll be home for Christmas" always makes me cry-Love and Best Wishes to Sherry, Sadie and Levi. Hope 2010 brings you all much happiness with your grandson Tripp.
ReplyDeleteSherry and Mercede You go girls!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLevi.... You the man
Have a great Christmas and a very happy healthy New Year.
You all show the true meaning of loving family.
Merry Christmas to the Johnston Family. Sherry, you've paid your dues, now you can move forward to a happy future with your children and grandchild.
ReplyDeleteSherry, Levi, And Mercede,
ReplyDeleteSuch happy news that you can all spend Christmas together. Levi is a good son and brother. Hope this will be the best Christmas ever for you guys.
All the best.
Thank you Gryphen for posting this good news tonight!
ReplyDeleteTo the Johnstons, my heartfelt wishes for a warm Christmas and beautiful New Year with Tripp in your lives ... he needs 'your' kind of love.
You are a Beautiful family inside and out.
Sherry, Mercede and Levi -
ReplyDeleteMERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU! I hope you can also include your grandson/son(s) in this celebration.
As many posters above have mentioned: Sherry: You have done a terrific job at raising two great kids! You know you have done a good job when they stick together through hard times - and all of you certainly have gone through hard times this year.
May the next year bring only joy to all of you, and may you be united as a family (i.e. may you have your son(s), Levi, living with you and your mom, a loving, GOOD grandma, and a loving sister/auntie to him/them!)
Thanks for the happy news Gryphen. I am so thrilled to hear Sherry is out of Hiland Mountain. She can get health care if she needs it now. Knowing what that place is like and what it is like to leave brought tears to my eyes. It is not the other inmates that are a problem, it is the corrections officers and the whole abusive system. People don't understand that anyone can get an injury or illness and take pain meds ending up addicted and on disability.I have been homeless four times since being on disability,it's rough to live on. The drug companies have physicians convinced the meds they prescribe don't really cause addiction, they believe it just causes dependence, that's BS. Also, sometimes there is no choice, people can have severe pain. I know the tactics of law enforcement because they tried to pull one of their schemes on me. They tried to have someone sell me some drugs and accused me of many false offenses, they have no conscience. It did not work because I am not what they thought I was.
ReplyDeleteSherry, Levi, and Mercede enjoy the holidays and know there are others who know sometimes things go wrong in life which we should get help for and instead we get injustice.
To Mercede, Sherry, and Levi - It's good to know you will be together this Christmas. I hope you all get to see little Tripp.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless and Have a Happy Holiday!
ReplyDeleteI hope 2010 will be a wonderful year for you all.
Merry Christmas, Sherry, Mercede and Levi!!
ReplyDeleteLove you all!
This is wonderful, joyful news! Happy Birthday, Mercede and a very Merry Christmas to all of you - Sherry, Levi and Mercede. I appreciate Mercede speaking with Gryphen and letting us all know that Mom is home.
ReplyDeleteminnesotamud
Sherry, Levi, and Mercede,
ReplyDeleteYou don't know me, but I know of you through the Alaskan blogs.
I am happy for your family with this latest development.
Sherri you have a son to be proud of, who goes out of his way to stand by you.
Levi you have the bravest mother in AK.
She has weathered the Palin's with strength and grace during their persecution of her.
Mercede, I hope this Christmas fills your heart with peace and your family gives you joy.
I wish you ALL a "dramaless" New Year.
May your lives move steadily, surely and purposely forward.
The best revenge is a life well lived.....don't ever forget that....."karma" will take care of the rest.
Merry Christmas,
Martha from Vancouver
Sherry, a big hug, peaceful Christmas and a better year to you and your kiddos. You are home baby, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

ReplyDeleteI want to join in the congratulations to this family for overcoming this past year and rising above it all. Merry Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so very glad you all are to be together for Christmas!
ReplyDeleteYou may not know how many folks are in your corner, how many are rooting for you, and wish you all only the best for the future.
Sherry, your son and daughter have done you proud. It's been a joy to see Levi grow and mature, and Mercede is a lovely young woman who knows what is truly important.
You've been caught up in a whirlwind, and my wish for you is a little peace this Christmas!
Have a lovely Christmas! You've earned it, all of you!
all the best,
Nan from MO
Merry Christmas to the Johnston family. Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2009!
ReplyDeleteWhat else is there to say but Merry Christmas and welcome home!
ReplyDeleteSherry, I'm so glad you can be with your kids this Christmas. You and Mercede and Levi never wanted to be dragged into SP's crazy circus, and I think you are all doing the best you can. Stay strong, and best wishes for the coming new year.
ReplyDeleteAll the best, from Texas

Happy Holidays to Sherri, Levi and Mercede!
ReplyDeleteGlad that you all are back together and all the best to you in 2010!
Mercede--Happy Birthday! What a wonderful present you received.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to Sherry, Levi and Mercede.
Wow, what awesome news! I'm so happy to hear that Sherry is back home, and in time for the holidays.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Johnston family, and I wish you all the best in 2010!
Welcome home, Mrs Johnston, and I echo the comments above -- about how proud you must be of your two wonderful children, who have showed such strength and dignity during difficulties I certainly could not have handled well at such a tender age. It has showed us what you are made of. Many best, best wishes for a wonderful homecoming and holiday season, together again. We have come to know you through your actions, and to respect all three of you. Levi, you have been a breadwinner and a gentleman -- very high callings, both. Mercede, you have kept quiet under great duress: good! don't talk until you get a lot of money for it, and use that money for tuition. Mrs Johnston: a big hug for you, and I am thrilled that you are home. Someday, I hope we will know your story. With love, Amy1
ReplyDeleteGryphen: big thank you to you, too, for keeping this story alive and for telling us the good news.
ReplyDeleteDear Sherry, Levi and Mercede,
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful you are all three together at home. I've always listened for the "ring of truth" - when things either sound truthful or on the other hand, don't sound right. Every time I've seen any of you three, you have that ring of truth. It's apparent you are a loving, caring family. I wish all of you the very best. Sherry, those two kids would make any parent proud. (I'm a mother of two and grandmother of six). Obviously you've done a good job as a mother. May God bless all three of you. Merry Christmas from St. Petersburg, FL.
It is all good Sherry, Sadie, Levi and Tripp! It's all good.
ReplyDeletePeace, Love & Happiness to you all.
Great News! Thank You, Gryphen, for giving us this opportunity!
ReplyDeleteMrs Johnston, Mercedes, Levy, Tripp and your entire family, My wish for you is a peaceful Christmas, surrounded by those you love. Mrs. Johnston, your children are kind, respectful, and mature beyond their years, a testament to a mother's courage and love. You have much to be proud and grateful for.
I wish you all the best this holiday season and hope the New Year brings you much joy and good health!
I have always felt that in the end nice things happen to nice people. And - although it may take a while - bad things eventually happen to bad people.
ReplyDeleteI think Sherry and her family should know that they have the support of a tremendous number of folks around the world, who are appalled by the way they have been treated by Suzie Spank_me and her husband Cod. The Johnstons have had a tough go recently, but I believe they will get their due - as will others.
Congratulations, and I hope you, Sherry, and your family have a wonderful Christmas Holiday.
Sherry, nothing is stronger than family and friends, you have your family and you sure do have friends. MERRY CHRISTMAS, we'll always be here for you.
ReplyDeleteWhat great news! Sherry, Levi and Mercede - You've shown such love, grace and responsibility dealing with an ordeal and challenges that were played out in public. You've earned my respect and support. Happy Birthday to Mercede and wishes to all of you for a blessed Christmas and New Year!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to hear this. Merry Christmas to the Johnstons! Sherry, please know there are many of us out here supporting you. I hope you are reading this.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home Sherry and may your family holidays be blessed and the new year brings you peace, joy and prosperity.
ReplyDeleteA supporter in MN.
I am so delighted to hear the good news! As a mother of a large family myself, I know how important it is to be with children and extended family at this time.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and welcome home! Christmas wishes to you from hot and steamy Australia!
This is great news!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Happy Holidays to the Johnson family.
Sherry and all your family certainly have my support.
Sherry, Levi and Mercede - your love for each other is inspirational. From Cape Town, South Africa, I beam to you every best wish for a peaceful and joyous future, and a special birthday greeting to you, Mercede.
ReplyDeleteHappy holidays to a REAL family! Rest assured you have a lot of supporters out here who wish you all the best for 2010 and on into the future.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Mercede, and Merry Christmas to you, Levi and Sherry from New England! I hope that 2010 will be a much better year for all of you. Mercede, I hope you will go to college and use your intelligence to chart your own path in life. You would make a great lawyer or doctor or whatever you set your mind to be. Levi, you've done well to handle and use to your advantage the high profile you were forced into. I hope you will also go to college, and that you will take the steps needed to uphold your rights as a father. Sherry, you have certainly shown your inner strength, and I hope that it can continue to serve you and your family well, as you move forward. Best wishes to you all.
ReplyDeleteI can only echo what all the other posters are writing ... best wishes to the Johnston family. I hope for much happiness in the future for you.
ReplyDeleteBe Present for family.
ReplyDeleteThe best gift of all.
Have a happier New Year
To each of you AND Tripp Johnston.
What joyous news for the holidays! We are all so pleased that the Johnston family will be together for Christmas. Wishing you much love, happiness, health and prosperity in the new year, Sherry, Mercede, Levi (and Tripp).
ReplyDeleteThere is definitely something askew with our justice system when the likes of Mike Huckabee can parson a convicted rapist/killer (who killed again)and Mrs. Johnston has been treated so miserably.
ReplyDeleteI wish the best for you and your family, Mrs. Johnston. Please know that you have friends and supporters far and wide.
Oops...sorry. I meant "...Huckabee can PARDON a..."
ReplyDeleteWow, what wonderful news greets me this morning.
ReplyDeleteSherry, Mercede and Levi: I am so happy you are together for the holiday! Please know many people have supported you. I echo all the wishes from the kind folks here.
Wishing you health and joy ... and may 2009 be a most magical year for all of you. :-)
Wishing you all a wonderful holiday from PA.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice Christmas present.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Christmas and a wonderful new year.
Yeah for you guys!
Sherry, we can only imagine how relieved you are to be at home with your lovely family at last. Peace and happiness are our Christmas wishes to all of you.
ReplyDeleteKathleen and Patrick
Welcome home, Sherry! I have a friend who was treated extremely harshly and unfairly for a minro first time offense years ago (he spent 6 months in jail, was actually sentenced to 3+3+1 year to be served concurrently, before it was all thrown out because of police misconduct), and I think they wasy you have been treated is really unfair. I am glad you are at least able to be home with your kids. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all!
ReplyDeleteMay you all have a peaceful holiday season.
ReplyDeleteJoy joy joy--I am so happy that the Johnstons are together again! Peace and love to you all.
ReplyDeleteJoining the crowd wishing Sherry, Levi, Sadie and Tripp a very happy New Year! I hope it is a pleasure and a comfort to you to see how many people from around the country and around the world are sending the best for your family.
ReplyDeletePat in Texas
Sherry, I'm thrilled to hear you're back home with your wonderful children. Having suffered through chronic pain and dire financial circumstances myself, I have tremendous empathy for you. I am appalled at what you endured in the criminal justice system, especially when your well-known counterpart has committed far more serious crimes and continues to pad her bank account and expand her empire. They say the meek shall inherit the earth, but what I'd like to see is for her to experience what you have. I doubt if she would have the same sunny expression that is visible on your face today.
ReplyDeleteLevi and Mercede, I am so proud of you and how you've comported yourself in the media spotlight. It couldn't have been easy to lose your anonymity at such a young age, but you've shown yourselves to be brave and honorable in all circumstances.
I'm so delighted you can all be together for Christmas.
Glad you can make it home for the holidays. You look radiant with happiness Sherry! Take care and best wishes.
ReplyDeleteBarbara
Sherry - Welcome home!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you, Levi and Mercede can now have a wonderfully warm and Merry Christmas and New Year!
I am so glad to hear that you can all be together for the holidays.
My best to all of you,
Carli

ReplyDeleteWishing you nothing but the best.
Warmest wishes to Sherry, Mercede and Levi from Ireland. Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year!
ReplyDeleteWelcome home Sherry! Hope your feeling well & that all of the Johnstons have a safe, happy & healthy holiday. Afterward, get Levi finishing that book! He has many fans waiting to read the REAL story!!!
ReplyDeleteWecome home, Sherry! I support you and Levi both. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteSherry, I am very glad you made it back home in time for Christmas! Would you do this anonymous blogger a favor? Give each of those kids another really big hug and kiss for me! Oh, and then a group hug!! I think hugs help fade bad memories away. So, make lots of happy, loving memories this holiday season, Sherry! May God bless you and your family always.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and Happy New Year! XOXOXOXOXO
To the Johnston Family,
ReplyDeleteI am so glad Sherry (your Mom) made it home for the Holidays! Merry Christmas to all of you! Sherry, you are very lucky to have two wonderful children who stand by you no matter what.I know that you are thankful for them.
Keep the faith and watch your backs. I don't trust the Palins or their followers, so just be careful who you meet, already know and so on. Just appreciate the love and togetherness you have with one another. And don't ever forget, there are a lot of people that care about you and your welfare.
The sooner the truth about the Palins comes out, the sooner you will all have some peace of mind. It cannot happen too soon.
I wish you all a Very Happy and Glorious New Year! Things will get better for you. Speaking from my own experience, sometimes when things get so bad you think they'll never get better. But that's not always true. So keep the faith, know that we, here at Gryphen's community, is also your community. We are behind you all the way.
And as for the Palins, remember, what goes around, comes around. Sometimes it may take awhile, but eventually it goes full circle.
We Love You All!
Happy Holidays!
Awww...I'm so happy to see/read this post! Welcome home Sherry! I wish you and your wonderful children (Sadie & Levi) nothing but the best this Holiday season and I hope you have a wonderful 2010 ahead of you!
ReplyDeleteI hope that Tripp Johnston can warm your Christmas day. Go get him Levi. Happy Holidays to the Johnston family. Still waiting for news that will "shock the nation."
ReplyDeleteThis is quite the Christmas tale! Sharing your love, determination and grace in supporting each other has made the holidays brighter for all of us.
ReplyDeleteThanks from the many, many regular people whose lives you have touched.
How come nobody in Alaska ever seems to dress for winter weather? I haven't worn a tee shirt for probably two months, and I live in the south!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Johnston family, and a happy new year!
Wow, Sherry, you've had quite a year--hope this new one is a happy change and smooth sailing for you and your family! How wonderful that you can be together with your kids for Christmas!
ReplyDelete
