Though she is a national laughingstock to most, Frank Schaeffer reminds us that Palin is also the de facto leader of a scary bunch indeed.

Palin comes from that world of hysterical paranoid delusion. It's her attraction to the people who like her. God has "raised her up for such a time as this" they believe. It is why Fox "News" just hired her as another one of their fair and balanced commentators.

Jerry Jenkins and Tim LaHaye's Left Behind series of sixteen novels (so far!) represents everything that is most deranged about Palin's religion, and understanding why those books are popular is the key to "getting" the Palin Fox "News" deal...

The Left Behind novels represent the fundamentalist end times view that Palin buys into. They have sold tens of millions of copies while spawning an "End Times" cult, or rather egging it on. Such products as Left Behind wall paper, screen savers, children's books, and video games have become part of the ubiquitous American background noise.

Less innocuous symptoms include people stocking up on assault rifles and ammunition, adopting "Christ-centered" home school curricula, fearing higher education, embracing rumor as fact, and learning to love hatred for the "other," as exemplified by a revived anti-immigrant racism, the murder of doctors who perform legal abortions, and even a killing in the Holocaust Museum.

No, I am not blaming Palin, Jenkins and LaHaye's product line for murder or racism or any other evil intent or result. What I am saying is that feeding the paranoid delusions of people on the fringe of the fringe --- people who think they alone are "Real Americans" --- contributes to a dangerous climate that may provoke violence in a few individuals.

I encourage you to click the title of this post and read the entire article by Mr. Schaeffer. It is very detailed and simply packed full of frightening and sometimes unbelievable facts about Sarah Palin, the teabaggers, and exactly WHO is supporting them.

It is important to note that THESE people are going to support Sarah Palin no matter what kind of evidence is revealed about her illegal or scandalous activities, her hypocrisy, or even the truth behind the children. The people who REALLY support her simply will not hear ANY of it until it is thrust DIRECTLY into their face!

Which is exactly why I am THRILLED that Sarah Palin is on Fox News! You see I know much, but not all, of what is about to be revealed about her, and I can hardly wait to watch her have to deal with it on television! It will play out right in the very living rooms of the dimwitted Fox cable news viewing audience that adores her.

No longer can Sarah hide behind ghostwritten Facebook posts. Now she has to stand out there and face the music on her own. And her true believers will have a front row seat to all of it!

Oh sure Fox will try to protect her as much as they can, but even they will not be able to provide cover for a barrage of negative information like this. And they simply WILL NOT be able to ignore it. It will be everywhere, and if FOX tries to pretend that it is not happening they will reveal themselves to, not be a real news channel, but instead an obvious propaganda machine for Sarah Palin, the teabaggers, and their ilk.

Frank Schaeffer is completely right in telling us that the people who follow Sarah Palin are frightening in their ignorance, so let us see what happens when the negative information about their idol filters into their consciousness from the very place they go to have their ignorance reinforced.

Update: Just to give you a taste of what kinds of things are happening behind the scenes here in Alaska, and on this blog, here is an example of the kinds of things that show up in my e-mail every single day. (This example was posted on a conservative blog.) I have had a number of new sources come forward and have become privvy to a lot of crazy information. I am sorry if things are not happening at the pace to satisfy some of you, but I also must point out that we have already seen quite a lot of damaging information revealed.

IMO, Fox News is not a news station when it comes to politics. It's very slanted and like Sarah they too lie. It's no wonder they hired her cause she fits right in with all the nuts like Glen Beck and others on their show.

Still reeling from the Sarah/Glenn love fest. Another blog reported that since they had each been the subject of SNL jokes, they offered their services as guest hosts. The scary thought is that if they were to host SNL, they would get huge ratings, but for all the wrong reasons.

Gryphen, you keep teasing us with what you know and how it is going to knock Sarah's socks off (or words to that effect). OK, you have made a deal with your source(s) not to write about it until they do.

But, Gryphen, you CAN write about it on another blog under another name, any name, we will even help you pick a screen name. My suggestion:
anonymous! Spread some of your bread crumbs around, please!

If you need a reason, go over to Huffington Post and read what terrific ratings Sarah got in her appearance on Fox last night. All she has to do is show up and lie, and she will be a raving hit! This is the same thing as throwing gasoline onto a blazing fire. If she continues to get big ratings, the next step will be Sarah's Show.

If you care at all about your country, please help shut that woman up!

I enjoy reading Franks take on alot of things. He's featured often on Brad Blog.

After devouring his "Crazy for God" and "Patience for God", I became a big fan of his. How many people come out and admit they were WRONG about their past? You just have to admire that. (we know Sarah wont ever admit WRONGS)

We need to push BuzzFlash's campaign to TurnOffFox. I purchased their bumper stickers awhile back and you wouldnt believe the people that comment on them. i/e: "where do I get one?"

Maybe, just maybe, we can eventually shut Faux down. (wishful thinking)

I wonder if someone could enlighten me as to how she is going to manage this Fox gig?

Is she going to tape her segments from the lakefront in Wasilla? Or has she decided to taxi back and forth from the east coast every time she's on the air, hoping to rack up her air miles?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Yes Anonymous 5:29, I pinky swear.

Some of it I have a hand in getting out, though hopefully you will not see my fingerprints. Some is coming directly from me, so I cannot hide my involvement. And to be honest, some I only know about in a very vague way and only know it is big, and it is devastating.

Take it from me, Fox News, Palin's attorney, and Palin's spokespeople are going to be very busy.

love this blog and everything it stands for. but ... remember ... Fox and Murdock do not care about Palin. If she crashes and burns, they'll trash her in a second and pick up watchers/readers/listeners in the process. This is not about Palin. This is about Murdock making money and she is just his latest toy. She just isn't smart enough to realize it - now there's a surprise ;-)

  16. What a pathetic excuse for a human being! How can Robertson call himself a follower of Christ? Jesus weeps!

Please see this article in Salon today: http://www.salon.com/life/feature/2010/01/13/haiti_satan_pact/index.html

    Two excerpts:

Is there any truth to what Pat Robertson is saying?

Of course not! Haitians are Christians. Pat Robertson's language is the reductio ad absurdum of the Christian right. It's so absurd it's almost funny. This notion of a pact with the devil is basically an echo of an old colonial response to the successes of the 1790s Haitian revolution.

What is this pact he's talking about?

Part of the revolution mythology is that one of the revolution leaders sacrificed a pig in Bois Caïmin in a voodoo ceremony and made a contract with Petwo [Haitian voodoo spirits]. It may or may not be true, but to call that a pact with the devil is a gross misrepresentation of what voodoo is. It's about anything but the devil. He's imposing an evangelical religious order on a much more sophisticated practice, and he's turning it into a cheap invocation of Satanism.

This is hate speech. It's saying these people are damned. It's a frequent theme among some Christians that Haiti is being punished for this supposed pact with the devil with extreme poverty and humanitarian crises. Tragically, many evangelical Christians in Haiti may actually, in their own extreme confusion and suffering and desperation, believe that God is punishing them.

The reason Haiti is poor is because Europe imposed a blockade on trade after the slave revolt in 1804, and you have an extremely polarized class structure in which a few families stepped into the positions of the former colonial plantation owners. There has been a horrible cycle of plundering and autocracy within Haitian leadership.

This delusional broad is dangerous. No, I don't fear her personally. If she were just a garden variety celebrity I could give a rat's a**. I fear her in a position of power--and not necessarily hers, by the looks of Mr. Schaeffer's article (haven't read it all yet) and what we've gleaned previously. Perhaps it's time for a remake of the famous 1964 "Daisy" atomic bomb campaign ad for LBJ.

That is, if SP doesn't implode beforehand! Wink.

  26. Frank hit the nail on the head for me because I always thought that the Faith that the faithful had should make them feel at peace.

History does show us, however, that the faithful are not at peace. They will do anything it takes to insinuate their faith unto others even if it means wrecking the lives of those that will not believe as they do. Crusades anyone?

They cannot be content to merely be the faithful; they won't rest until everyone believes what they believe.

It makes me hate them and it makes them hate me (but really they shouldn't be allowed to hate me because their god tells them to love everyone....) I can harbor hate and not risk eternal damnation because I'm not a believer, on the other hand, they're going to go to hell for hating non-believers!

  38. I have been observing the "other" site for a while. What I have observed is there is a gradual shrinking of the participants. A lot of the hits are back and forth personal items. I'm beginning to see some doubt registered by the intelligent posters.

All the hype of increased ratings for anything where SP appears reminds me of the great appeal of Tiny Tim. He used to come on Johnny Carson's show and be weird.

One thing I have noticed is a decline in the eagerness to throw money at SarahPAC in response to some outrage by the left.

Also, I have seen some of the posters indicating that it would be okay with them if SP faked a pregnancy to cover for her daughter. That will turn into a plus for the religious right folks.

Meanwhile, we need to keep on with appeals to the moderates. If SP comes down, it will take a while for the Dominionists to replace her.

She has speeches lined up, and she is going to be the new media darling. Move over Kate and Eight, Paris and Britney, you have serious competition for someone who will be famous for losing, quitting and spewing garbage.

  42. Anonymous8:50 PM

Gryphen, If there is all this damaging stuff about there that is about to come out, and hints that Palin herself knows enough to have quit office...well what do you think her mindset is right now? Does she know it's all going to be revealed? She sure doesn't act anything but confident and self-righteous. Granted, if she's a liar then she's covering up, but really, wouldn't she be keeping a low profile if there were so many damaging things that she'd done--enough to 'destroy' her, and also wouldn't she play it low key if there were suggestions that bad stuff would be made public. And by making herself more of a celebrity isn't she just guaranteeing that the news when it does come out is even made bigger and splashed across more sites and papers and blogs? (In contrast, think of those Repub senators that got caught with the hooker, the bathroom stall and the intern boy...they had a brief moment of bad press, but ultimately it all died down since they all faded into obscurity. Even Edwards has kept a low profile and that's probably contributed to his story not being covered more.....So why is Palin doing the complete opposite do you think? Is this some sort of face-it-head-on strategy? Do you think she knows it's about to blow? Please give your opinion of these seeming discrepancies... AND ALSO, surely key Repubs and Fox media have some whiff of bad stuff that may be about to blow--so why then is there so much support and promotion of her?

Many of us fear that we could be witness to the biggest evil to sidle into power in modern times (next to you-know-who). The imbecilic cousin fucks who think that FauxNews is indeed “fair and balanced” regularly gulp down great draughts of the diarrheic bile the FauxNews spews out and believe it with the fervor they reserve for the Gospels. They are simpletons who are incapable of distinguishing reality from their own bizarre fiction in which they star prominently as the foot soldiers of God, preparing to go to battle on the plains of Armageddon. There they will go to war with Muslims, illegal Mexicans, socialists, homosexuals, and liberals. (Ok, ok, I know the last three are all the same.) These slobbering goobers gladly insert Sarah Palin into their delusion narrative of good vs. evil because they recognize that she is just as stupid as they are, and she never fails to deliver cords and cords of good GOP and/or teabagger wood.

I take exception to Schaeffer’s line:
“Less innocuous symptoms include people stocking up on assault rifles and ammunition...”

WTF!?!?!?! What could possibly be LESS INNOCUOUS about heavily armed morons!? The only comfort that I can derive from that disturbing notion is the fact that their numbers are few. These folks would shoot and kill someone simply because they didn’t conform to their vision (delusion?) of God. Hell, they already HAVE shot and killed people. Most of the teabaggers lack the conviction to actually go that far, but by God, these folks are as stupid and uninformed as people can possibly be. And Sarah is their queen.

Schaeffer is a good an honorable man who seems to feel genuine shame and responsibility for the part that he played in helping the nascent conservative Christian movement to emerge. He was also decent enough to take the time to respond personally to an e-mail I sent him in response to an op-ed he wrote for the Baltimore Sun quite awhile back. If we all pay attention to Scheaffer and the others watching these self appointed arbiters to the Throne of God, I don’t think they will ultimately succeed.

Sarah Palin is indeed queen of the morons.

One question to the faithful: If it was God’s will for Sarah Palin to become VPOTUS, how come she lost? Are the socialist/fascist/communist/Marxist/Maoist/liberal/homosexual/Kenyan/Hawaiians more powerful than your sky wizard? Apparently, they are at least powerful enough to thwart his will.

Palin is not God, she does not walk on water and newsflash to bimbo in training, Bristol. Your only a virgin once. And No man worth his salt, will touch you with a 20 foot pole! When your baggage consists of your mother, you are not only used merchandise, but unreturnable merchandise at that.
Gryph, I want to personally thank you for allowing 'other views' on your blog. You allow dissent and others to have a 'conversation'. I don't always agree with you or some of your posters. But I have NEVER been treated with anything more than respect from you and your readership. I believe in seeing all sides. In order to be 'fair and balanced' the whole story needs to be seen. Not the Cinderella version only. Again, a huge THANK YOU to you and your fellow bloggers on 'the left'.

Isn't Joe McGuiness putting out a book on Sarah in April? Is that what we are waiting for?

I'm very afraid that April will be too late. Sarah should have been stopped a year ago. I truly fear for our country. The peasants are taking over the land. We are getting to the tipping point. I'm very sad.

Gryphen - Nothing would please me more than to have her exposed right now, but I'd prefer to have it done right and $P lie-proof! Take the time that you need to get this right! Dot all the i's, cross all the T's. If this is going to be as explosive as I dream, you will need to triple-check your sources. Good Luck! I so look forward to this info. Feel like a little kid waiting for Santa Claus!

Sarah sit down and shut up - you're an embarrassment to our country.

I hope history is not kind to Senator McShame for his role in this mind-boggling deception.

I believe the person was asking what is an AKM. I guessing this person is new around here. Many of us know who AKM is but also too, many do not.

Anon said: "Palin's first appearance as an on-air analyst with the network, on Tuesday night's "O'Reilly Factor," drew 3.954 million total viewers — more than everything else on cable news in the 8PM hour combined."

You are, of course, counting the millions of pro-Americans like myself who tuned in to watch the train wreckage and laugh their asses off at her now oh-so-predictable lies.

Love how BOR didn't dare ask any questions to get Palin to clarify that she understood N. and S. Korea...that would have been a hilarious mess. Keep covering for her, Billo....she wants your job, old man!

The longer everybody holds off revealing all this info that will bring the Grifter Sarah palin down, the longer she has to destroy those same people.
I don't know how things work up there in Alaska, but down here in the lower 48, accidents do happen!

One of the favorites as of late is mysterious plane crashes. "

Good point, and I'm sure if Curtis Menard Jr. hadn't died in a mysterious plane crash after criticizing Sarah's parenting of their son Track, he would agree with you 100%.

If the information that would bring down Sarah Palin had been revealed a year ago, we would not continue to see her rise in "popularity." She would have been but an asterisk in the statistics of the 2008 presidential election. Instead, she continues to build her base and give hope to some very dangerous people. From these same people who worship Palin may come someone who could attempt to kill our duly-elected president. Please stop her now. She can't win a lawsuit for libel or slander if you tell the truth. Drop your information and get out of Alaska if you must. Just bring the bitch down.

Gryphen, I know you have promises to keep, but it is so aggravating to have to wait for Palin to be brought down.

Please! Can you at least give us a timeline?

Next week? Next month? Next year?

Thoroughly documented McGinnis book is not due till fall of 2011. Perhaps timed for the Presidential primaries? Dunn book is April, telling, but unlikely to tell all.

No Levi book till after custody case. Even then ongoing custody could somewhat tie Levi's hands. B

The whole GOING ROGUE/FOX thing (including OPRAH) is orchestrated: it is her Golden Parachute deal from the GOP.

But why did she allow Trip to be bathed in the sink for the INTOUCH camera?

  72. Sandra...I noticed the same thing. I also see comments indicating doubt, confusion, anxiety, etc. in their Queen's actions or statements that are quickly responded to by some of the more ardent supporters and then this big group rationalization (delusion) takes place.

I was entertained by the thread on the announcement that Paylin would be speaking at the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America and how it would be perceived by conservatives...oh, the hypocrisy!

"I would not think it should bother them. What matters is not who she speaks to. What matters is the message she brings. Spread it far and wide, I say."

"She could be donating the paid fee to charity."

"Who are these evangelicals who don't drink? I have yet to meet any, except for recovering alcoholics. Sounds like a pretty small constituency."

"Believe it or not it could be an issue some in the South. Yes I am one that do not hold it against anybody but a few might say something. She needs to approach that it is business and this industry goes well beyond Alcohol. I tell you she is going to rake in the dough."

This bot found approval right from the Bible:

"Any "conservative evangelical" who is flatly opposed to any drinking at all needs to read the book more carefully. We're admonished in Eph 5:23 not to get "drunk" because it leads to "excess" (KJV) or "debauchery" (NIV), but there is no complete prohibition on drinking. To the contrary, see e.g. 1 Timothy 5:23."

"Trust me, many evangelicals will have a problem with the guv speaking here......if they knew. Good news is that most do not follow politics that closely and by 2012, no one will even remember."

In the end they (publicly) decided this was a good thing because really, it was simply business and a good way to get her message out.

anon@5:06 has a good point. I don't want to wait for her to be brought down, I don't think our country can wait. Everyday that she is allowed to spew her hate, the more the country loses it's way- the fighting among ourselves, the ebbing respect from other nations and the danger to our president and constitution. This woman is changing us and our history as we sit and wait. If there was an iceberg as large as you say, It wouldn't take two years to bring it to light. I hope to God I am wrong.

Well then why not give us a little sneak preview Gryphen and then folks will know that you really do know something?

I see that I mistakenly drew the wrong conclusion about that aspect of Schaeffer's remarks. I should have known better. He is quite familiar with these loons.
