Confident Palin attorney, Thomas Van Flein, takes poke at Levi Johnston's career opportunities.

This comes from an ADN article about the back and forth concerning Levi's child support payments which you can read in full by clicking the title.

I have read most of the information before, but wanted to share this nasty little dig from Van Flea as an example of the overconfidence on display with the Palin camp.

Palin's attorney, Thomas Van Flein, said Thursday that it appeared Palin and Johnston are making progress toward a fair resolution. Palin also expects to work out a visitation schedule with Johnston that will allow the father to seek work in his budding career, he said.

"Bristol is hopeful that Levi will obtain work in 2010," Van Flein said. "If you're going to go into show business or entertainment, definitely you never know when your next job is coming."

So did you get that? They are clearly seeking to get both full legal AND physical custody of Tripp. And the reasoning they are using is that Levi's career means he will not be as stable as Bristol, and may need to be gone for periods of time to pursue his "entertainment" career.

If Levi loses his bid for joint custody, both legal and physical, he could very well receive very limited visitation with his boy. Perhaps as little as every other weekend. He simply HAS to stand his ground.

Of course nobody is mentioning that Bristol herself may need to take time away from her child and leave him in the care of possibly one of the worst mothers on the planet. From what little I know of the Johnston's they are a loving nurturing family who care far more about the needs of their grandson then they do fame or profit.

I know that the Palin-bots have tried to portray Sherry as a drug dealer and convicted felon, but that whole story has not been told yet. And in fact she is a very sweet lady who wants nothing more than to lavish love and affection on her grandchild. And Mercede? Well according to her Facebook posts Mercede lives and breathes for that little guy.

My feeling is that if Levi ever needed somebody to help watch his son during the time he was scheduled to have him, Tripp could not be in better hands than to spend time with Grandma Sherry and Aunt Mercede.

The first custody hearing will be on February 25, in Palmer before Judge Kristiansen. It is likely to be a circus.

Personally I am interested in seeing Bristol 2.0, and I am sure there will be many photos taken of her so that the world can see how she is "holding up".

(By the way Bristol, just so you know, there are certain subjects that I won't address on this blog. But believe me, others will.)

    The ridiculous vindictiveness displayed by the Palin clan in Troopergate is unfortunately Levi's past, present and future. He has no reason to have "hopey" feelings that they will ever be civil.

    The Paylins just want custody so they can exploit media exposure of the poor kid. After all, if Levi lets pictures of Tripp be taken for free, how how are the grifters going to charge six figures? Disgusting.

    What is Levi filing for? 50/50, 70/30? Or is he ok with Bristol having full legal custody & he gets visitation rights? I didn't know visitation or custody was based on income, or whether you have a job or not. I thought it was based on how you file or respond to a filing.

    I hope Levi holds out for joint custody. For a young man, Levi appears more mature than the folks who the child is currently with. As a grandmother, I know a son needs to spend time with his father. And, I do not mean several times a month.

    I read in the comments either here or elsewhere that Bristol may have had a nose job. Don't know if that's the case, and don't really pay that much attention to how she looks. I was just trying to get confirmation on what I've heard about Palin's sister Molly working for a plastic surgeon. Sarah has obviously had work done, and not particularly good work either. Also, could this be the doctor's office that Bristol also works at? If she did get a nose job, is she being 'paid' in procedures? She's really too young to be getting anything done, so I hope not.

    A 19 yo girl needs some work done, so what?

    This is the story I would like to know more about.

    The Sarah/Van Fleen/Bristol custody arguments might go over in Alaska but it is dumb. Didn't Bristol say that Tripp is in the Escalade or taking a bath most of the time he is awake and with her and 5 hours a week with Levi? He has Sunday with her. That is not a quality life for any child and not in his best interest.

    Levi could make plans around his 2 weeks off. If something more came up, it would not be a problem if he and Bristol can actually work together. If not, he does have back up with his family. Since Bristol and Sarah both take children to work, it would not be a problem for Levi to take Tripp to work when that works out. This latest on Van Fleen is absurd. Entertainers and others work with unusual schedules and child custody all the time. That should not be what determines IF someone is worthy of joint custody. The Palins sound desperate to make so many delusive arguments.

    A life in entertainment for Levi means he will be public and it is not like he will be hiding as much as the hermit Bristol. He is more honest and can be trusted to put Tripp's best interest before covering up family secrets and all.

    Bristol will throw anything at Levi because she has no legitimate argument as to why he can't have joint custody. The more she throws the worse she looks. Why the big protest, Bristol? It is not for Tripp's best interest. Their whole spiel shows them as control freaks. Levi knows they want him to have nothing but will settle for giving him limited visits, ALL UNDER PALIN CONTROL. Not in Tripp's best interest.

  24. Anonymous10:43 AM

    See folks, if it ever does go to court, and I still doubt that it will, nearly everything will have been settled and kept under cover and a few details will still need to be ironed out. Palin wins but Levi doesn't lose.

    Gryphen, I love your blog. That said, I take issue with the statement that an every-other-weekend arrangement would be "limited visitation", and that implication that that would be a bad thing. The child's needs have to be first, not the parents. In this case, it appears you are promoting dividing this very young child in 1/2 to give Levi his "rights". Parents rights are not supposed to the focus in custody cases. I personally don't think making a child pack up a suitcase and shuttling between warring homes his entire childhood is a good thing. Conflict is the worst thing for a child's development, and it is clear these two can not get along, and never had a family unit to begin with. And this is a toddler we're talking about. Whether you like his mother and the mother's family or not, a child of this age has developmental needs that require stability in his schedule and home life. 50/50 schedules simply turn children into property.

  27. Gryphen,

    You are the man, thanks for tackling the custody subject and for keeping up with the Palins and child abuse. You are right on. Levi HAS to stand his ground. He would be foolish and naive not to. No man would make a choice to be emasculated and take the role of distant cousin to their own son.

    Levi is a nice young man with nothing in his background to say it is not good for Tripp to have a father with joint custody. The Palins are grasping at straws. You can find pictures of the Palins where their children are abused looking. You do not find that with the Johnstons. The Palins are lucky if Levi doesn't stand up against their lame attacks. Levi has available pictures and video of Palin babies that are neglected and look doped up. Johnston may not be the sharpest tool but if he did want to pursue why the dopey looking babies and all that, it could be trouble for Bristol. Mostly, Bristol and babies she cares for are in hiding and noone knows what she is doing to Tripp. Does Levi trust Bristol? They did no drugs when together and she took care of Trigg, Piper and Willow?
    Tripp, the abstinence prop.
    There is more video at the studio. I'd like to now more about what Matt was meaning.

    Have the Palins presented anything for the best interest of child or is it all to go after the father? All fathers with work that can change need to pay close attention. All parents in show business may lose custody if Bristol prevails!

    I do think it is child abuse to keep a child from a parent. As Bristol did before the court mandated videos. The little she does now is still abusive, but hope the judge will put Tripp before Bristol.

    ReplyDelete
  28. The only reason Levi would not get joint custody is if he had a record of violent crime or a drug problem. It is ludicrous to think that how much money he makes or where he works is going to make any difference to the judge.Modern judges don't full custody to the mother with limited visitation to the father unless the father is a child molester or a drug addict.

    ReplyDelete

    You may have a point. Best for Tripp is for Levi to have 100 custody. Bristol could handle every other Sunday visits.

She use to be more like a young mother. I want to watch how she will dress and her attitude, she knows she will be on stage. PLEASE get Bristol on HD for this one! Bristol will go incognito again.

    I am a little surprised if they won't settle before the 25th. This could get so ugly. Whatev the court is about, it seems they are doing this for pub opinion.

    I know that Bristol is important to teens everwhere, I just don't get the granny thing when she is a roll model for teens around the world. Can someone explain the Candy Foundation and absinence part? Candy sells to teens who want to look young and hot not old and done. The granny style does help keep her re-virgined, that might be the point. I, too, am keeping my eyes on the roll model that Bristol will play next. More important are the questions on nose work, tummy tuck, liepo, sculpting thunder thighs and big boobs, of course.

    Poor little rich girl Bristol. An average looking girl who didn't get Mommy's good looks, so having plastic surgery at 19. Hopes a boob job and "Mommy makeover" will nab her a husband.

    Even though Mommy Sarah didn't keep her legs closed before marriage (conceiving Track - whether with Todd or with Curtis Menard Jr. -- well before tying the knot with Todd), Bristol had to promise Mommy to become a born again virgin, so Bristol's reward for her born again virginity is a new set of boobs.

    That should be Sarah's new Presidential platform. We will make abstinence only education successful by offering a boob job as a reward to every American girl who waits until marriage. Perfect. Take the money from Social Security and Medicare to pay for it. Our big-breasted youth are our future.

    Any decent judge is going to take into consideration the environment Tripp will be raised in, especially in regards to how they speak of his father. Palin has already been admonished once by a judge along with the rest of her family, in regards to their going after Trooper Wooten.

    If Sarah continues to berate Levi in public, she will only damage Bristol's claim that it would be better for Tripp to be with her full-time.

    When I first separated from my husband, my father made a reference to him at the dinner table that my children were fortunately too young to understand. However, I later told my Dad that under no circumstances was he allowed to bad mouth his grandchildrens' father in front of them. Yet, my ex-MIL just couldn't bring herself to keep her mouth shut in regards to me. As my boys grew older, they frequently spoke up and defended me. After a time, they no longer would visit her. Her animosity towards me continues to this day and she blames me for keeping her grandchildren from her despite

    Why are some stating go back to school and get a degree. College is not for everybody. You think Palin will let him get job in fish and game. How much money does Bristol make. Has Bristol put money in a non touchable trust for the pictures she has taken with him.Levi is not supposed to be supporting Bristol, he is supposed to help support their child and not Bristol's bank account. Another angle, The Palin's don't want him to make money off of pictures and stories with the child. The judge should make Bristol supply a list of expenses for the child( not padded) and split it. Then money made off of grifting put a portio n in grifter proof trust for the kid. Also Lets all send levy 1.00 cash so he can pay the n ext couple of payments in one dollar bills. Once Sarah finds out her head will explode wonderig how much he realy got. It is just a buck, it will be worth itfor them to stake out the mailman and try to count the letters(or rob him/her.

    Mocha at 1:46 pm:

    That "under seal" phrase simply means Levi signed his statement in front of a notary. Nothing sinister. (I was a paralegal.)

    Money really has no bearing on who gets full custody, shared custody or whatever. As long as the environment is child safe, it wouldn't matter if Levi lived in a trailer, as long as he took good care of Tripp. Now, that child's name--it's obvious that Levi was swayed by the Palins' use of strange names (being a kid himself), and impressed by them at some point. However, he seems to be a quick study. I just hope he continues his education and gets a chance to make a decent living doing anything he decides to, and settles down enough to give his child the attention any child needs.

    Let's just hope this judge has a superb sense of justice and realizes Tripp needs both parents, plenty of money or not.

    In today's world, there are few jobs available to anyone without post high school training of some sort. Like it or not, a certificate from a technical school or an associates degree is required for --firefighters, police personnel, truck drivers, hair dressers, medical office staff, xray technicians, EMS, CMAs, chefs, data entry clerks, game wardens, etc.--all require training beyond high school--even electricians, plumbers and carpenters require at least apprenticeship training.

    Besides, just because Sarah Palin & Company seems to have a stranglehold on Wasilla today, doesn't necessarily mean that she will a year from now--and between now and whatever point in time she falls flat on her smug mug, this young man could be doing what is required to prepare himself for the next 40-50 years of HIS life.

    It has become obvious that degrees are not so much for the purpose of making tons of money--bachelors or associates degrees, various certificates and formal training these days, and most likely through the coming years, are simply required for getting a job in the first place--whether a person lives in Wasilla, Alaska, or elsewhere.

    There is more to be learned in college than coursework --college is a place where young people discover a world they didn't know existed (i.e. outside Wasilla)--make a life-long network of friends (i.e. outside of Wasilla) and where a person may just happen on to a subject that they didn't know existed, but which facinates them so much that, once pursued, might give them both financial and personal fulfillment for the rest of their life--maybe even beyond Wasilla city limits.

    And, if what you suggest is true, and Levi will never be able to get a job in Alaska, degree or not, then he may have to consider just that--relocating to a corner of the world where Sarah Palin isn't--and that may just require some real knowledge of places and acquaintences with people far beyond his front door.

    ReplyDelete
  51. What confuses me so much (other than the rampant right wing male-hate-machine) is why people seem to think Levi's some kind of scofflaw who should be in jail for not paying child support... when there's never been a child support determination.

    It's obvious that the Palins want to see Levi crushed for daring to ... ummm... not get Sarah elected. Or something.

    I wish he'd get his GED, hire a real family lawyer, and work with a good writer (mememememe) on a book telling the truth about this woman who is dead bent on destroying the country and everyone who gets in her way.

    What kind of MORON would trust a Christianist woman whose husband is a secessionist to be president?

  54. I hope Levi has all the details written down/recorded somewhere. Palins don't play fair - if they did, we would have never heard of the child custody case, (along w/ lots of other things).

    Why do the Palins 'think' that Bristol deserve full custody? Because she has 'family' well Levi has family that supports him too also. And to be fair, both teens seem to depend on their parents to some degree. Her going to school, working 1-2 jobs, do not speak to how good a parent she will/won't be(come). They speak to 'trying to fool the court. And why isn't Levi allow to care for his son while she's working, schooling & PR'ing for MommyDearest? Would that not help & decrease the cost of child care?

    Why is Levi not entitled to shared/joint decision making & custody? BriSARAH has he abused you, the baby? Surely you can't be basing your claim on just $$$...

    There is a NEED TO ACCOUNT FOR MONTHLY CHILD CARE SPENDING & THE SOURCE OF EACH INCOME. Don't just 'claim' to have spend this or that, show proof...how much came from gifts, from donations to SarahPAC, ect...

    Is the amount of requested child support HALF, a degree or the TOTAL spend monthly...They seem to want Levi to give the money but have limit time w/ his son - based on what they think he deserves. WEIRD to most ppl, regular to the Palin family I guess.

    So he already has limited time with his son because (they seem to be saying) of lack of regular child support AND now they want him to pay close to 2Thousand a month, with (again) limited contact it's just weird.

    What part means that they get to determine how much time Levi has with his(?)son? Everything 'tried' against Levi, seems they are already guilty of doing.

    And by the way babies can travel w/ their parents, seems like 'they' not only want to limit the availability of father-son time, but you want to have some say-so & make sure the visits are not out side of AK, that is unless the Palin family is the ones doing the traveling...

    I agree that shuttling between hostile parents in two households is not good for a child. But it is also not good for a male child to be raised by a single mom and her younger sisters who all live under the domination of their mother, particularly when their mother is, shall we say, self-centered and childish herself. Todd does not impress me very much as a father figure and model for his grandson, and I don't see anyone else in the picture.

    If I were the judge, I would, if possible, enter merely an interim order, acknowledging that both Levi and Bristol are still transitioning to adulthood:

    (a) Granting Bristol custody;
    (b) Granting Levi weekly visitation;
    (c) Ordering Levi to pay only the statutory percentage of his net income, as and when received, and deferring the setting of a fixed amount of child support for one year;
    (d) Ordering (as suggested above) that income resulting from stories about Tripp or use of his picture be held in trust for Tripp's benefit in a segregated bank account with Bristol named as trustee, with quarterly statements to Levi;
    (e) Ordering both Bristol and Levi to maintain records of all income, gifts, payments and expenditures, as well as gifts to Trip (or for his benefit) from any third parties, with copies to be transmitted quarterly to the other party and filed with the court;
    (e) Ordering both parties to apprise the other party and the court within ten days of any substantial change in living arrangements; and
    (f) Scheduling a hearing in six months to review arrangements, which may be postponed upon agreed motion of the parties stating that it is unnecessary.
