Sarah Palin: "We're all Arizonans now!"

The Arizona Republic:

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin defended Arizona's new immigration law Saturday and announced the launch of a website to inform Americans about border security.

Palin said Arizona is "ground zero" for the nation's border-security issues during a news conference organized by Brewer's gubernatorial campaign.

"It's time for Americans across this great country to stand up and say, 'We're all Arizonans now,' " Palin said. "And in clear unity we say, 'Mr. President, do your job. Secure our borders.'

What an idiot!  The idea that after three previous administrations have failed to solve this complicated issue that it now can be blames solely on President Obama is the height of ignorance.  And you know Palin knows better, she just hopes the moron who follow her, and get all of their information from Fox News, don't.

And how arrogant is it for the whitest of the white Republicans like Governor Brewer Sarah Palin to stand up there and tell Arizonians that this will not adversely impact people with a darker complexion than themselves.

Of course our President who understand this issue much more completely, for obvious reasons, has a different understanding of how this law may affect a certain segment of Arizonians.

President Obama has criticized the Arizona law, saying that in dealing with the immigration issue, "the answer isn't to undermine fundamental principles that define us as a nation."

"You can imagine if you are an Hispanic American in Arizona, your great grandparents may have been there before Arizona was even a state, but now suddenly if you don't have your papers, and you took your kid out to get ice cream, you're gonna be harassed," Obama said, referring to the statute at a April rally in Iowa.

"That's something that could potentially happen," he said. "That's not the right way to go."

Have you noticed that Palin seems to take the wrong side on EVERY issue?  Whether it be the spill in the Gulf of Mexico, or the "show me your papers" law in Arizona, she simply takes the side that is the most poorly thought out or ignorant and there she stands.

I very much doubt if she will ever run...every dumb thing like this that she has said will be brought up...she'll never run, because she'd have to give up all her lucrative contracts. She cannot debate any of the stupid crap that spills out of her mouth..she is poisonous hatemonger, has taken the hearfelt headline of the French publication, Le Monde, on 9/12, "We are all Americans now", and turned it into a cheap political slogan. It was a genuine outpouring of worldwide sympathy for America after 9/11. How can she mutate that expression of empathy and support for America, with its loss of 3,000 innocent citizens, into support for this hateful, racist law in Arizona? She is repulsive....this country was built on cheap, illegal immigrant labor. FACT

The oil companies especially will now be desperate for a friend of oil corporations to undo all the rules they are going to have to abide. When you add drug and insurance corps., then Wall Street, it is entirely possible she could get elected. How? Well, for one thing there are a lot of schemes done to control the make up of voters in some areas(part of the reason for overflowing prisons)and there are a lot of just confused, stupid people in this country. They do no reasearch nor do they read, they just follow like sheep.

Since we are all Arizonans, please send Arizona's election ballots to all 50 states so that we can remove Brewer and McCain from office. Also add a requirement to ban White Bread Palin from Arizona.

Funny, the Republican Convention of 2012 is to be held in Tampa, Florida. So, I guess those who voted for that venue didn't get the memo that they are Arizonans. She and Brewer are lucky I'm not one, because one of my first acts would be to vote Brewer and any other politician who voted for this law out of office. The only good thing about all the media attention this boneheaded dingbat gets is that her intellectual and moral deficiencies are out there for all to see. I firmly believe that she is single-handedly providing all the rope needed to hang herself. An important aspect of intelligence and common sense is to know one's limitations and either accept them or try to overcome them. As narcissistic and self-absorbed as she is, she's too stupid to know what she does not know, and I'm convinced that this is what will ultimately be her undoing.

  14. I never quite understood exactly what papers one is supposed to be able to provide at a moments notice. Personally, I do not possess a Green Card nor naturalization papers. Is every resident or visitor now required to carry his or her Birth Certificate (since it seems that a Certificate of Live Birth simply will not do. But a Birth Certificate doesn't have one's picture on it - so do we add to that passports, drivers licenses, bank cards, Big Box food club ID's, college ID's - but then again anyone can possess many of those without sanction of "papers". Do we get special permission at the border as we drive in (will there be multiple kiosks just like the NJ Turnpike), at the airport when we fly in; and, also too what special magical papers will we need then? Well I guess that is a moot point for me as I won't be doing that; and, I so much wanted to see Sedona. As a matter of fact I so wanted to re-visit Alaska; but won't be doing that until and unless EvilWitch Barbie is behind bars - Federal bars.

    I'm so confused.

Hey Arizona, be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it!!!

This woman is so absurd that it is becoming less fun to bash her. For someone who has made even Elizabeth Hasselback appear intelligent, the very idea that there is even a contingent out there willing to consider her capable of being president is the most frightening.

How anyone can take this grifter seriously defies logic. She cannot go away fast enough to suit me. Too much time and energy is spent on highlighting her stupidity which suggests that her eligibility for higher office is still in play.

  27. One little piece of info in the interest of having some facts-
According to the voter registration website in AZ, a driver's license/ID card issued after 1996 in AZ is proof of citizenship, as is a passport or tribal card. For first timers getting a license, one has to have bc, etc.

My WA license wouldn't/shouldn't work as it is not an "enhanced" license proving citizenship which would allow me to go freely to Canada or Mexico.

That might sound reasonable, but one could seriously question the photograph. My 22 year old daughter's AZ license expires in 2052!

She wouldn't be stopped for anything less than probable cause as she is real blonde. Her godfather and family are Filipino, though. The same might not be said for them.

This law attacking the 14th amendment sucks, regardless of one's color, though. One would think Mrs. Palin would have wanted our Constitutional rights protected- kinda like she wants people on the terrorist watch list to be able to buy as many guns as they want so the 2nd amendment doesn't get trampled.

    Idiot.

What lies and hypocrisy that these two idiots spew. Sarah claims the bill will not promote racial profiling but she herself said after the Ft. Hood attacks that we SHOULD use racial profiling. And for Brewer to accuse the President of using this issue for politics is really hypocritical because she is saying this during a campaign speech. Her saying the President is being divisive is hilarious because the most divisive public figure around is standing next to her.

Note to Sarah: If you want to get down to a zero chance of winning a general election, keep on alienating groups of voters. If you think you can get to the White House with just the older, rich, white and teabagger vote, you are even dumber than I thought you were.

people sarah palin will never be president of this country. relax.

yes the corporations have gotten people elected before, however, there are 2 significant things those people did NOT do prior to running for president:

    1) they never quit jobs they were elected to do halfway through their term for no reason.

    2) they also never said that the laws of this country should be based on the god of the bible and the ten commandments.

these 2 things are huge strikes against palin, and when all is said and done, these are the things that will prevent her from being president if she decides to run.

just imagine the opposition ads 24/7. it will be brutal.

Show me your papers! Even when Obama produced the required birth certificate, that wasn't proof enough. Arizona needs to put Orly Taitz in charge of checking everyone's papers; she's tough and she is crazy.

A word about drivers license as proof of citizenship. We know someone who was in this country illegally and he had no trouble buying drivers licenses, social security cards, and fake ID.

Racial profiling, yes it is a fact, and it has nothing to do with immigration. I live in the kind of suburb where cars are stopped just because the driver doesn't look as if he belongs here. Maybe a light is out, or the fender is a little dented. He will be stopped for no other reason than "driving while different." Ask teen aged drivers how often they are stopped and the answer is more often that adults. Surprise. Ask an African American how easy it is to hail a cab in New York City. We still have a long way to go to.

  44. This was a great comment from a reader at HuffPo- (I Think the name was Whitehat)

What a surprise, Palin attempts to frame Arizona's police-state law as a matter of self defense for upstanding Americans. What the Supreme Ignoramus does not seem to consider is that a loss of rights for any one group weakens the Constitutional guarantees of EVERY American. If left to stand, a law like Arizona's sets a legal precedent by which every Constitutional guarantee becomes open to negotiation, and only the politics of the day determine which rights We the People can be "permitted" by our government.

Palin has made a career of telling Americans to trade away their rights for "safety." It's a job. In truth, if Palin wanted to assure her continuing right to mouth her chickenshit inanities, she should oppose AZ's new law. But she doesn't look that far ahead. It's a really, really well-paying job.

It has become clear that Palin is now routinely hired to facilitate ever more restrictive and intrusive government activity. Fear Mexicans? Muslims? Iran? Russia? Who next, Sarah? Would that just depend on where your next paycheck came from?

Real Americans, the decent and sensible people who make this country a great place, don't fear terrorists and foreigners as much as the enablers of repression. People like Sarah Palin.

When law enforcement can randomly demand anyone's "papers" at any time, it is. happening. here.

Go Viral with this and GOTV in Arizona.

    "Behind the Arizona Immigration Law:
GOP Game to Swipe the November Election"

Our investigation in Arizona discovered the real intent of the show-me-your-papers law.

    by Greg Palast

In 2008, working for Rolling Stone with civil rights attorney Bobby Kennedy, our team flew to Arizona to investigate what smelled like an electoral pogrom against Chicano voters ... directed by one Jan Brewer.

Brewer, then Secretary of State, had organized a racially loaded purge of the voter rolls that would have made Katherine Harris blush. Beginning after the 2004 election, under Brewer's command, no less than 100,000 voters, overwhelmingly Hispanics, were blocked from registering to vote. In 2005, the first year of the Great Brown-Out, one in three Phoenix residents found their registration applications rejected.

That statistic caught my attention. Voting or registering to vote if you're not a citizen is a felony, a big-time jail-time crime. And arresting such criminal voters is easy: after all, they give their names and addresses.

President Obama raised more money than the Republicans. If Democrats don't get the kind of money the TP's or Rethugs can get from oil, insurance and drug companies, we really could see someone like Palin making gains - I would really hope not, but if people get lazy or can't donate enough . . . .

If Palin wants to support a law that will discriminate against people of color who are citizens or are otherwise here lawfully, that's her business. But she should speak in the first person.

I am an Alaskan, and not an Arizonian.

Perhaps if she ever has a real interview- not filtered by Facebook- perhaps Palin will explain why Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton, and Bush 2 couldn't solve the border problem in 28 years total in office, why Obam should have solved it in only 15 months.

The good thing about her spouting such nonsense it means she is not running in 2012- she just lost the Hispanic vote.

Maybe we are the third group of Arizonans who have been short changed by our government: The Hopi and The Navajo. Technically, the Navajo migrated to Arizona hundreds of years ago, but the Hopi live in one of the longest continually inhabited settlements on what little scrap of land the US government allowed them to have (after they took away much more). Of all of them, the Hopis should be the ones who ask to really take back their country.
