Barbara Boxer's no fool.
From the LA Times:
Looking ahead to the general election, Boxer’s campaign is wagering that Palin’s endorsement will be a drag on Fiorina as she tries to woo Democrats and Independent voters to overcome her party’s registration disadvantage. On Monday, the Boxer campaign launched a web video on their anti-Fiorina website that splices together clips of Palin and Fiorina with criticism of their positions on guns, oil drilling and abortion. The closing message: “Sarah Palin and Carly Fiorina. Wrong for California.”
Fiorina’s spokeswoman Amy Thoma said the Palin video was evidence that Boxer “is trying to shore up a base of voters that should already be supporting her," underscoring "just how endangered she really is.”
You know I think the video is evidence that Boxer knows a gift when she sees it and is going to take full advantage of this one. Wouldn't ANY smart politician?
“We are glad to have Gov. Palin’s endorsement,” Thoma said in an e-mail, “and Carly would far prefer the support of a fellow political outsider who shares her opposition to massive government expansion over that of [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi and [Senate Majority Leader] Harry Reid, who champion tax increases and government takeovers of everything from our healthcare system to the financial markets, while doing nothing to stimulate true job creation and sustained economic growth.”
I guess by job creation the Fiorina campaign means new jobs in India, right?

Hurrah, Barbara! Praise the lord for smart, well-spoken women like Senator Boxer.
ReplyDeleteBarbara Boxer is my senator and I live in a very red area of the state. Got to tell you that a lot of people do not make that link between hard times and Republican policies. I've talked at length with other sociologists who supposedly know the reasons behind systemic poverty, who voted for W both times and McCain last time. But, I think Carly was a lesser of two evils vote, not someone people actually wanted and it will be reflected in the general election (I hope!).
ReplyDeleteExcellent commercial -
ReplyDeletePerhaps a point that hasn't been fully expanded on yet. These Conservative Republicans that scream "smaller government" - get government out of regulating industry - etc, first they should eliminate minimum 10% of their government staff! Much of the time it is NOT making smaller government. It is outsourcing government functions to a private sector, which actually is creating a "middleman" with higher costs.
Also, how can a non-government appointed program act with our current legal paramaters to inspect a major corporation (example USDA inspecting Tyson Foods or FDA accessing Johnson & Johnson ) The US government would be granting search & seizure rights to private "appointed or contracted" companies.
Would Tyson Foods or Johnson & Johnson be able to deny access?
All that babble from Amy for a woman who did not even bother to vote. Did not $p and Fiorina leave previous employers in massive debt?
ReplyDeleteI love Barbara's choice of Carly's picture her hair is AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteAlso, too, read this article on how the Reagan era marked the beginning of the end of America:

Fiorina's people have stepped into a big steaming pile of Palin poo. Fiorina may be vicious but Boxer has intellectual depth and political experience she lacks.
ReplyDeletePalin is a weight around the Republicans' necks. The longer she keeps opening her mouth prattling sound bytes the heavier the millstone becomes. Palin will be politically crushed before the 2010 election and silenced for good once all her big oil connections are brought to light.
The Repubs will watch and wait patiently, as does the snake stalking it's prey. She'll be swallowed whole.
Get the wine and popcorn ready. It will be delicious. ;-) Jaye52
Excellent Boxer ad. Palin is an anvil - hand her to the Repugs and push them into the deep end of the pool.
ReplyDeleteAs a Californian, thanks for posting this.
