Forget Sarah Palin. The real challenge to President Obama's popularity is Lady Gaga!

From Fox News:

Move aside, John McCain: Lady Gaga is now positioned to be the next big challenger to President Obama. It’s not exactly a race either necessarily chose to enter, but the Facebook pages of the president and the sequined pop phenomenon are deadlocked in a competition to become the first living person to hit the record-busting 10-million fan mark on Facebook.

Wow!  I cannot imagine having 10 million Facebook fans!  That is an unbelievable number of people who are fascinated by these two talented people.

But then who can blame them?  I mean after all one is  the leader of the free world and the other is taking the entertainment industry by storm. (By the way as of this post President Obama has 9,342,840 fans and Lady Gaga is slightly ahead with 9,614,641.)

But this got me thinking.  Lady Gaga and President Obama are the two most popular people on Facebook? But what about Sarah Palin?  After all almost all of Lady Gaga's updates are about concert appearances with a sprinkling of posts about which city she is in and which media event she is doing, and President Obama's page mostly consists of updates about what is going on politically (Boring!), but Sarah Palin spends more time on her Facebook page than an insecure fourteen year old girl!

Palin has probably done more to make Facebook famous than any other celebrity. She  uses it as her main method of communicating to the outside world, and has undoubtedly had more people quote the Facebook rants that her ghostwriter posts than Lady Gaga and Obama combined.  So surely she must be pretty darn close to that ten million mark as well wouldn't you think?

Nope not even close.  As of this posting the supposed "Queen of Facebook" has a comparatively dismal 1,717,781 fans. The most popular Republican in the country has not even broken the 2 million mark.

I don't know about you but learning that made me feel much, much better.  If this is the best hope the Republicans have of defeating President Obama in 2012, than we can all relax.

That is of course unless the GOP somehow recruits Lady Gaga.  Then we are fucked!

I'm telling you, her star is fading. People are bored with her irritable and irritating rants about nothing. Most of those fans on FB are probably folks that want to check out the train wreck. Boy, is she going to be PO'd when she finds out the POTUS and LGG are beating the pants off her!!! Another crazy rant coming up...

    10 million followers! Amazing!
One thing to be taken into accounts though:
Both Obama and Lady Gaga have fans worldwide, which opens up a totally different dimension, while Palin's fans are mostly in the US.
As for 2012, I wonder what would the numbers be if they only count the Americans.

1,700,000 of them are likely "friends" who cannot wait to report her fucked up posts on blogs, talk shows and the news.

The other 17,781 are politically, intellectually and emotionally retarded people. With guns.

"The other 17,781 are politically, intellectually and emotionally retarded people. With guns." Right on! The Palin star is dim alright! She can't bring 'em in like she once claimed she did.

Palin reveals lessons learned with special-needs son
In the first ever P.U.R.E. celebration. WOW! It was a rocking worship service not politics as usual?

"I wanted to hear her talk in person. ... I think as a mother, she will have a lot to say that is just as important as the political views.” Her Mama Grizzly cred was big with this crowd. Why Does Trig Matter?
She also gave her political fan base some of what they came looking for, talking about the potential dangers of Obamacare to special-needs children. She said families could see their health care choices “diminished,” and a cap on flexible spending accounts would amount to a “healthy tax increase.”

Despite her possible presidential candidacy in 2012, Palin focused mostly on the personal side of her story, not the politics.

“Trig’s slower development is more than made up for with his little heart of gold,” Palin said, adopting the ministry’s new vernacular of referring to special-needs children as pure people and saying she hoped the movement caught fire throughout the world.

She talked about her 2-year-old’s morning routine, where he pulls himself up in his crib, wipes his eyes and begins clapping.

“He applauds the day every day,” she said. “That is what my pure son teaches me.”

The event was special for 10-year-old Rosemary Smith, who got to see one of her idols up close.

“Last Halloween, I dressed up as Sarah Palin, and my brother was McCain,” she said, adding that she liked the political figure because, “she’s a good person.”

The crowd at the Arena came well short of filling the seats, even though ticket prices had been slashed the weekend before the event.

But Palin promised to donate her speaker’s fee to the ministry, and organizer David Glover said he was glad to give people a chance to see special needs families in a new light.

Palin is obviously slipping and we can only hope she is the last to know, being she is the GOP's worst enemy. Since she has more important things to do I have the feeling she is turning over health and women's issues to Bristol. At least that is what she would like to do if Bristol had some talent. The Lazzaro sisters.

I know for a fact that several people (if not most...) on her 'fan' list are just there to check her out. I also know that one of her 'fans' was one of my dearest friends, who has succumbed to breast cancer almost two months ago. She wanted to be a 'fan' in order to keep a closer eye on her - just like several people above have mentioned.
Somehow, FB does not remove 'dead people' - even though we made comments on my friend's page, and still leave little 'miss you' messages.

So, I wonder, how many *REAL* fans she actually has, and how many of those *REAL* fans are still alive, also, too!

  11. To beat the ga ga lady the prez just needs to show up at a couple of baseball games in his undies and shoot the bird to the camera, LOL.

Maybe just post a pic of him coming out of the ocean in his swim trunks. Yeah I know the MSM did that to embarrass him but, wow, those pics were hot!

i begrudgingly fanned sarah's facebook page so that i could write critical comments top her posts, and include links to proof of my criticisms about her. i was allowed a maximum of three comments before i was thrown out of the i (don't!) like sarah club. it was in less than 12 hours that the palin police kicked me off so i can read comments still, but can't make any myself. i would write in to ask why my free speech isn't being protected like every teabagger claims they are standing up to do. why am i being forced to "sit down and shut up?" i actually wear it as a badge of honor that i have been tossed out by sarah just like off some of the greats like gryphen, yourself. wonder if she has my license plate number as well...?

Obama has a Facebook? I deleted mine a few months ago and have never been happier. Facebook is a total time waster. It is the example of too much information, although not as much as Twitter, but boy, life without facebook is good.
