In Pennsylvania, tickets to see Sarah Palin are a tax deductible bargain!

From Mount Penn GOP:

Sarah Palin is coming to Hershey, Pa., on Friday, Aug. 27, at 7 p.m. as the keynote speaker at the Pennsylvania Family Institute's Friends of the Family Banquet.

Tickets are at $200 per person ($150 of which is tax deductible) but the price includes a gourmet meal at The Hershey Lodge.

How often do you get a chance to meet Sarah Palin?

So let me get this straight.

Tickets to this banquet are $200.

But $150 of it is tax deductible.

So essentially this organization is now using the promise of a tax break to lure people in to listen to the crazy ass rantings of Sarah Palin?

Sorry, even with the tax deduction it still sounds like much, too much money to spend to have your intelligence insulted to me.

And lest we forget this is just one day before she and Glenn Beck spit in the face of African Americans by holding their "Restoring Honor Rally" on the hallowed ground where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous "I Have a Dream" speech.

Every day that goes by we see Sarah Palin self destruct just a little more. You know we should have been prepared for this. After all in the movies it always took until the very last ten minutes of the film before we finally saw the creature take its last breath..

How the Media Created a Monster: Sarah Palin

    http://www.thenation.com/blog/154104/how-media-created-monster-sarah-palin

It's often said these days that Sarah Palin is a "media creation." That is, the media promote and elevate her as one of America's most popular and infuential leaders, even though her approval ratings remain in the tank, by covering every appearance and statement (whether speech or tweet) as if she is the Junior President from Alaska.

But the "creation" part goes well beyond what's happened since the 2008 campaign to keep her constantly in the public eye. It's my view that she was created by the media even before John McCain picked her as his Veep candidate.
It fact, it was exactly two years ago this week that a true (if rarely recognized) turning point in the 2008 race for the White House arrived. It came at the Democratic convention in Denver. No, it was not the good vibes about Obama, the ringing speeches by Teddy Kennedy, Michelle Obama , Bill and Hill, or by the candidate himself.

Rather, it was the electronic media's overblown coverage of the allegedly widespread threat by female Hillary delegates, and other Clinton fans, to bolt Obama in favor of McCain that November.

As you may recall, the dissidents, known as "PUMAs," got massive face time on TV and, it was claimed by many in the media, represented just the tip of the iceberg. And it was also said (by commentators, not just by the new, pro-Hillary media stars), that women, particularly older ones and suburban/blue-collar types who had voted for Hillary in the primaries, would likely abandon the Democrats in November.

There was no firm evidence for this, of course, and few pundits, on TV or in print, seemed to notice that the same handful of disgruntled Hillary delegates appeared on all of the shows. No matter. Obama's possible defeat because of the possible defections was widely predicted.

Why did this end up making any difference, since the mass female defections never happened?

Because John McCain and his people bought it, hook, line and sinker. This explains the sudden (though often ill-explained) rise of Sarah Palin to the top of their VP list. The McCainites saw an opening, which really wasn't there, and went completely overboard. Not only did a female VP suddenly look like a great idea, but she would have extra appeal to the particular type of Hillary primary voters so hyped by the media.

The preposterous media coverage of the (few) unhappy Hillaryites at the Dem convention -- which was aimed not at helping Obama but maintaining interest in the affair and the coming campaign -- inspired McCain to select as his running mate someone who would virtually destroy his campaign.

Recall that after months of trailing, McCain came out of his convention with a bump that led to at least a tie with Obama in the polls -- then he plummeted very quickly as the truth about Palin seeped out. In addition, he had lost his chief calling card: an edge in experience on Obama. A week after the GOP convention ended, polls were already showing that, if anything, women thought less of Palin than did men. And surveys continued to show that while she drew crowds she actually drove more people away from the GOP than toward it. In fact, it's a myth that Palin was broadly "popular."

Imagine if McCain had picked even a neutral figure such as a Pawlenty or, say, Kay Bailey Hutchison. Yes, Obama still would have won (he ran a fine campaign and the economy collapsed). But if McCain hadn't picked Palin, it might have been in a real nail biter.

Also: Sarah Palin would still be a little-known political figure probably completing her first term as governor and with no boomlet for her as a candidate for president in 2012. And Tina Fey would have missed out on another career boost.

I wrote to the group & told them I had planned to attend before "Mrs. Palin" was featured as the speaker. told them that with her dysfunctional family and her racism & bigotry, she doesn't represent our family's values so we'd not be attending. They promised to get back to me. Guess what? They haven't. =)

  8. Well, supposedly, this is a benefit for this organization:
The Pennsylvania Family Institute is a non-profit, non-partisan research and education organization that analyzes public policies and cultural trends for their impact on the family. The Pennsylvania Family Institute is a 501(c)3 organization funded through yearly, monthly and issue related tax-deductible donations from individuals, families, corporations and private foundations.

So, the dinner (the value of something you receive in exchange for your donation) is valued at $50, so the remainder is a charitable donation. This is proper disclosure, but I wonder about the PFI organization getting a clearly political speaker for their group. Hmmmm...I guess it takes all kinds of families to qualify as a 501(c)3.

I rejoice with you Gryphen - Sarah's getting old and screechy and repetitive and they don't like her anymore. $200? They could get a good value meal at any restaurant for $15, and read her babbling brook facebook.

Save the other $185 and send it to charity. That's tax deductible too. Hey, I'm just giving common sense tips to the stupid.

just before the wild dogs got to her.
She's an odd choice to promote family
values since she spends zilch time with her own kids. How can tickets to this propagenda-fest be tax deductable?

Lancaster County has a lot of Amish, Mennonites and Brehtern, but they've also grown and have a massive and diverse population. Folks there have plenty of money, too. Let's see how they choose to spend it...should be interesting to find out.

She spends zilch time with her kids? Interesting considering shes been home all summer and traveling with her kids as well. Not to defend her, but there is email proof she wants to spend time with her kids. and pictorial proof that they are a happy family that sticks together. is gryphen lake-stalking their house? is there a fly that reports back? let's stick to stuff that can be proven because i dont buy these little "facts" Gryphen reports that require eyewitness accounts. Bristol has proven on FB that she supports her mother and strongly dislikes anyone who "wants to destroy her family"

No i'd say they are any normal family who has seen their share of strife and drama - yet on a public scale

meredithp, the PA Institute is a right wing church-in-government organization, don't read their home page BS, read their blog: http://pafamily.wordpress.com/
They are for Prop 8, which tells you all you need to know about them. They don't care if you like Palin or not, they may be able to get plenty of haters to fill those seats, sad to say.

It is ironic how you use double standards to make a point. A place where MLK spoke is "hallowed ground" but yet a place where over 3,000 Americans died by terrorist attack is not? Glenn Beck is not holding an anti-MLK rally, nor is he holding an anti-African American rally. He is holding a rally of Americans of all races and ideologies.

A little tidbit for you since your knowledge oF MLK seems to be nonexistant, did you know that he was a Republican?

just wanted to say a quick thank you...

iremember when sarah came onto that stage looking cute as a fucking little chipmunk spitting the most hateful vile ive ever witnessed in my 38 years of life...

at that point i thought i was the only one who could see this broad for what she was. and, truly, it scared the hell out of me. everything i felt at that time is slowly coming true...racist, nasty, hateful bitch.

i found your website and found a ally...one who was not afraid to speak his mind...ive followed you since the beginning...

now that that bitch is finally getting whats coming to her, and america is FINALLY waking up to her...i just wanted to say thank you for all that you did. you calmed my fears by giving me straight facts mixed in with fabulous gossip that kept me interested.

id love to say im leaving your blog...but im not. at all.

Question, Gryph. The pictures you use of Palin with her many facial expressions, except for one or two that are obviously photo-shopped
(Like the cross eyed toungue one),
are the rest of them bona fide?

It just leaves me wondering how much time she spends in front of mirrors perfecting her grimacing gymnastics.

Judging by the number of trolls, it appears that this blog is hitting "them" where it hurts.

I wonder if they are capable of seeing that she created the need for and continues to feed the many anti-palin blogs because of her use of hate and lies to rile up her followers?

If she chose to discuss the issues in a respectful and civil manner, there would be little push back against her. Apparently, she can't and she won't. She just doesn't have the depth of knowledge in any subject to do it.

They will not deter us. As long as she spews hatred against others and causes fear in our elderly and sick with lies and misinformation, we will be here to push back against her.

Here's another tidbit: the US is filled with hallowed ground where many Native Americans, slaves, railroad workers, et al. died, sites not marked by gravestones or historical markers.

MLK was a pragmatic man. He understood that constant war and villifying others who don't agree with us impoverishes everyone. Read his "I Have a Dream Speech" and compare it to the many hateful, violent words of Beck and associates like Palin and Limbaugh.

If you take the time to compare the words of each you will be immediately struck by the impoverishment of thought, the distortion of facts, and the sheer meanness of spirit in many who, like Beck, shamelessly invoke MLK and his works while they promote sectarianism, bigotry, fear and divisiveness de facto, despite their pious words.

The girl has no qualifying attributes or skills to be independent regardless of her claims of being

  30. Just a couple of tidbits for the reading comprehension challenged people coming here to defend Palin and the angry racist anti-muslim anti-mosque crowd.

Park 51 is not a mosque and is not being built on the hallowed ground of ground zero!! It's a community center that's being built two blocks away.

There IS a mosque 3 blocks away that's been there for years.

There's also a titty bar about the same distance that seems to be ok with the screechers.

What IS being built actually in, not just on, the Ground Zero hallowed ground is a shopping mall. Why aren't they screaming for a memorial or some such instead if they're so bothered by the community center that's, AGAIN, 2 blocks away?

But here's the big tidbit. The number two shareholder in Fox News/News Corps, a Saudi prince, is helping fund the so called terror mosque.

OOPSIES! What will Sarah have to say about that? Bwahahaha

The fact that MLK was a Republican is no secret and is not surprising in the least. Many African Americans in that era were Republican, as it was the party of Abraham Lincoln. And goodness knows, many Democrats during that period were extremely racist.

The Democratic Party has evolved, however. And it would be interesting to see where MLK would land today, given the social programs he espoused towards the end of his life.

I think the issue here is the overt or covert racism of some of the Tea Partiers (who, by the way, claim to be not associated with either party, so MLK's registered voting status shouldn't matter). Racist "monkey" signs and Mark Williams' "satire" aside, an academic study of 1,000 people in 2010 showed that 45% of whites approve of the tea party movement. Of that 45%, only 35% believe black people to be hardworking and only 45% believe black people to be intelligent. And lest you argue about the number of people this study involves, please recall that most independent polls during the election cycle only survey 300 - 400 people. So this is well within normal research parameters.

First Amendment rights aside, the site and date of the rally is, well, just tacky. I support their right to hold the rally but I dislike the tackiness. I support their right to hold the rally, but I think I may throw up if any of the speakers try to connect MLK's dream with their own.

I can't imagine how Beck/Palin would respond if Muslims attempted to hold a prayer meeting in remembrance of the fallen Muslims on 9/11 at Ground Zero ON 9/11. Actually, I can. They would decry the "insensitivity" of it and call it "a stab in the heart." I doubt they would even acknowledge the right to hold the rally.

And here's a little tidbit for you: the site of the proposed community/religious center is not AT Ground Zero. Which part of 2 blocks away do you not understand? Should we next force the existing mosques within 10 - 12 blocks of Ground Zero to cease and desist? Should we then forbid any Muslim to practice prayer within a few blocks of Ground Zero? Should we then forbid any Muslim from visiting the site because they might engage in silent prayer?

    When does it stop?
