Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Shannyn Moore interviews Tony Hopfinger, the guy Joe Miller's goons handcuffed last Sunday, on "Moore Up North."
Ok I dont want to be a Mr Poopy Pants but Tonys' interview and hiws statement that he "doesnt vote" or isnt a voter or however he wants to put it is a very lame statement. He wants to bitch and criticize candidates and not participate in the electoral process. Sorry Tony you could have made a far better showing for your self as well as everyone who does vote their conscience. For me I have just decided you are a piece of the same kind of crap Miller is spouting.
Soooo, how were the active military men reprimanded? Haven't heard anything about it. Is anyone pursuing if they would be charged with anything, being that they're active military? Dropzone Bill had NO concern for them after he hired them!
@marksumpter - other journalists have also claimed they vote rarely. 1.) after so many interviews, they probably get overloaded on political b.s. by all opposing candidates that it becomes a blur (or) 2.) helps them keep their focus on being objective. Doesn't mean all of them do so. Everyone has belief systems/rules they make up for themselves (i.e.: never going to bed w/o washing the dishes, never date a smoker or someone who doesn't floss..)
Mr Hopfinger has done more for free and open elections than most. He has gone to the snake den and confronted the snakes.
If he chooses to do what he does, and not to vote- then that is OK with me.
Mark Sumpter can get a camera chase the candidates, and risk meeting the goon squad. No doubt there are still plenty of questions to be asked of Joe and the other candidates.
Probably still some goons hiding somewhere too.
Report back what you have done (if you have done anything) and then it will be possible to decide if your criticism of Mr. Hopfinger is warranted.
I also had the same mentality for a very long time that Tony has.
I was public service director for WMBH in Jopiin Missouri, On air personality for KWON in Bartlesville, OK. and likewise for KMOD in Tulsa OK. as well as general station manager for KSRC in Socorro NM. I have had my share of dealing with candidates over the years but it wasn't till the 2000 elections that I had a 14 year old epiphany in my life (namely my son) that convinced me that despite my outward political activism I was a hypocrite for having never voted.
Because of not having proper state ID and other reasons I was not able to vote in that election but in 2004 I was able to walk into a polling station with my then 18 year old son and vote my conscience for the first time.
Since then I have not missed an election and have also been a Democratic volunteer to make sure that we get out the vote.
Now maybe I was a little hard on Tony for the statement that " when I find a candidate worth voting for I vote". This comes from a reformed non-voter much as the criticism of a former smoker would be to someone lighting up in front of them and for that I apologize.
Tonys' tone and attitude lends credence to the thought a single vote doesn't matter. It is an apathy that if I could change and coerce all of those with a similar mind to vote my way would allow us to elect our candidates at will.
If nothing else Tony needs to vote to nullify the vote that Joe will surely make for himself.
However I still think it irresponsible of him to make that type of comment and will not back down from that view.
No matter what all votes count, if you think otherwise you are a fool.
And so the DA has declined to press charges for this incident. It's such a comfort to know that any militia thug can arrest a citizen for asking a question.
"up northy" is that with a wave of the hand. You da best man.

Let me qualify my remarks just a little.
