2 PA school speech; I'll intro kids 2 beauty of laissez-faire via serving them cookies amidst school cookie ban debate;Nanny state run amok!
3 hours ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®
Palin's completely asinine tweet is in response to Pennsylvania's plan to implement a new nutrition policy in their public schools.
The cake, cookies and candy at the school parties you might remember will become a no-no if the state approves new nutrition guidelines.
Parent organizers would have to pick just one sweet treat per party and will be encouraged to order anything else from a menu of healthy snacks from their district's food services department....
The Pennsylvania State Board of Education expects to vote this spring on new nutrition guidelines for food served at school, said Adam Schott, the board's executive director. Districts would have to comply by fall 2012, he said. The proposed rules came about through an ongoing review process.
The rules would limit the number of parties to one classroom birthday celebration a month, and no more than three holiday parties a year. They must be held after lunch.
The state could withhold or rescind state and federal reimbursements for districts that don't comply. The state could revoke approval for vending machines from offending districts....
You know the debate over nutrition and whether or not school officials should be restricting the kinds of treats that parents are allowed send to school to celebrate their children's birthdays is one that adults can, and should, certainly have. But what should NEVER be done is for an adult, especially one with the influence that Sarah Palin wields, to undermine the authority of the school's policies.
Just what kind of an adult would encourage children to defy the guidelines proposed by their school?
Well I am guessing the same kind of an adult who did not reinforce the idea of having safe sex, or to respect other people's property, or to respect their elders. However it is one thing for Sarah Palin to screw up her own children, but quite another for her to poison the minds of other people's children!
You know I worked in an elementary school, and I can tell you from personal experience that the problems caused by childhood obesity are widespread and heartbreaking. I have seen five year old children too overweight to tie their own shoes, and too out of shape to even endure a thirty minute PE class without repeatedly having to take a break and sit on the sidelines to catch their breath.
What the Pennsylvania school district is proposing as a sane approach to an insane and out of control problem.
But what am I thinking? Of course Sarah Palin would be against ANYTHING that was on the side of sanity!
Here's a woman in her forties who's still rebelling against the grown-ups--pathetic!
ReplyDeleteWell there she goes again, usin' an elite word like "laissez-faire".
ReplyDeleteHonest to god, who is she kidding? She is just bound and determined to show the world what a complete ass she is. Guess what, Crazy? We get it!!! Go back to your fake reality show and do some fake editing. This woman has entirely too much time on her hands. I guess no one has ever told her: Mind your own business!!!
The other irony is that Tea Baggers and conservatives are all about "local control"...until something happens they don't like.
ReplyDeleteWell, have you seen HER oldest daughter? I didn't get that big until I was in my 30s and had given birth to twins!
ReplyDeleteUnless she is planning to stimulate the economy by giving more business to plastic surgeons for the burgeoning field of child liposuction?
In the words of KO - that woman is an idiot.
We can always hope someone gives her a close up of the frosting, reality tv-style.
ReplyDeleteHey we can't have people criticizing the way Sarah eats....or Bristol can we? Or the rest of the Palins? Good nutrition is a direct attack on the Palins!
ReplyDeleteRick
The liberal communist socialists hate junk food. Don't fear, get rid of the nanny state and let wall street churches take over. Beck knows that a violent 'Event' is in the plan.
ReplyDeleteBeck: Lawrence O'Donnell's 'Socialist' Claim Is Evidence Of Looming, Violent 'Event' (VIDEO)
"But didn't we just hear that there are no socialists?" Beck said. "Wait a minute -- starting to unmask themselves!"
"I don't pal around with Communists," he continued. "I don't know any radical revolutionaries, I don't know any socialists. But apparently at NBC...it's not such a big deal."
WTF, Gryphen?! I clicked on the link in your post without checking to see where it went. To my extreme shock, it went of all places to the fucking-asshole-populated Free Republic board! Please -- warn your readers!
ReplyDeleteThe rules would limit the number of parties to one classroom birthday celebration a month, and no more than three holiday parties a year. They must be held after lunch.
ReplyDelete--
People are always going to eat whatever they enjoy eating. Physical activity is key. PE programs need to not be cut or treated as a joke (as min ewas in high school - we went bowling and golfing and ran one day a week)
I find it ridiculous for schools to focus on food when it's not food that kills - it's inactivity. I cannot believe I am admitting this, but I enjoyed her tweet that addressed this. Sarah has always stayed active. She ran a marathon in under 4 hours at age 40. There's evidenced in those MSNBC emails she values nutrition. Her whole family works out. I'm going to avoid discussing Bristol because of her recent past history. No one but her knows the stress this summer caused her. No one knows why she's heavier aside from some women have a harder time balancing weight after childbirth.
The grifter, of course, objects to the HCR provision that forbids insurance companies from dropping customers who develop diabetes. Death Panels!
ReplyDeleteWe already have those policies here in CA. Whenever my kids have a party (other than if it's their birthday, then we parents can choose the snack), we have a list of healthy choices we can provide for the kids. I,for one, like the idea.
ReplyDeleteI don't see nearly the amount of obese children here that I saw while living in east TX. I saw TWO YEAR OLDS that were already obese.
Part of the bigger picture (that Sarah obviously hasn't thought about, because she is so fucking obtuse), is that poverty and obesity are directly linked to one another. It shouldn't be this way, but healthy food is more expensive that junk food.
Sometimes, the only nutritious food that poor or overweight children get is at school. Why not make sure the snacks are healthy as well?
"Nanny state gone amuck"....go fuck yourself, Sarah the Idiot
Is Sarah also going to encourage the smashing the face into the cake routine? Gosh, maybe just a cupcake up the nose.
ReplyDeleteSarah is proving how irresponsible a parent she is. I think her new show will probably drive that point home again and again and again.
The nutritional guidelines are being implemented to save children's health and lives. I guess she doesn't understand or care. After all, none of kids are weight problems, right? Har-de-har-har-har. DWTS proves that so well.
http://www.newser.com/story/104969/dancin-bristol-has-actually-gained-weight.html
ReplyDeletewtf! If Bristol weighed 120 at 5'5'', call me Santa Claus. I am 5'4'', a size 12 ,(im guessing bristols size uncorseted) and weight 160. But these dtws gossip stories have all been debunked
Oh, and another thing, WGE, it's not a BAN. They can have ONE sweet treat and the rest of the snacks must be healthy. Have you ever seen a bunch of kids all hopped up on suger? Of course not, that would be that you would have actually had to attend a school party and be parental!
ReplyDeleteThis woman needs to look to the needs of her own children and let the people of Pennsylvania worry about their children.
ReplyDeleteOur daughter went to a PA college for her undergraduate degree so when we visited we got to eat a lot of great cooking. However, almost every eatery we went to (we could not afford the truly expensive places where you get a wisp of this or that) gave gigantic portions.
ReplyDeleteOn one hand, we thought it was great value for our money, but on the other, we knew if we ate like that all the time, we'd be in trouble.
Palin doesn't seem to understand that working class people - truly working class people and the poor - have to eat large portions (if they can get them)of basic carbs and lower quality meats in order to fill up. They don't get to select fresh fruits and veg as suburban families do because there often isn't a good grocery nearby and the cost of such is prohibitive.
Goodness, Sarah - find out about how other people really live. You are in for an honest-to-goodness culture shock, Sarah. We are all not like you - not as sheltered, not as privileged, not as selfish.
Time to grow up, Sarah.
The state of Bristol's nanny's are better? Somebody was serving Bristol cookies and see how she looks now. She bloats and
ReplyDeletegloats. Not a pretty sight. Why is there not one Tea Bagger that will pay attention to that girls blaring televised health concern? Mother of All Tight Abs can't see the extra 15-30 lbs DWTS packed on sweet Bristol?
Diabetes if not cute. I have a friend that lost a foot. She is lucky to be alive. Sarah, tell the truth about sugar and Bristol.
The day Sarah Palin wields any influence over my kiddos is the day I remove my kids from school. Honest to god my 6 year old nephew has better nutrition skills than her, is there no chance she's going to just take care of her own kids instead?
ReplyDeleteWell Mrs. P, if your bots are reading this, your papa has a gut on him
ReplyDeletelike a barrel, your daughter has 3
chins & feeds on McD's, you yourself
are known to not cook meals & exist
on aspertame-loaded diet Dr.Pepper & crunch wraps, so what exactly do you know about nutrition? Can't she be banned from the state of PA?
What does "Nanny state run amok" mean?
ReplyDeleteWhat in the world are schools doing giving up education time to allow parents to throw birthday parties in school, anyway?
ReplyDeleteIs there a cumulative grade your senior semester that you ca include on your college applications. "Social activities: attended at least 108 birthday parties with over all 95 average?
(lost five points in second grade for scarfing so much cake and ice cream the kid threw up.)
Where's that freedom you keep yapping about, Sarah? Why is it when people do something you don't personally like, you try to overturn it?
ReplyDeleteGosh, Sarah, see how that works? A lot of us feel the same damn way about what you try to do, but we are mature enough not to throw a hissy-fit or undermine children's belief in their parents, school system or government.
Try thinking before you express yourself - think things through, think about the consequences, the impact on others for a change. Gosh, Sarah, are you able to do that or is it really, truly all about you-you-you?
So now Sarah is branching out to destroy little children. How lovely. Her real message to those kids is screw what anyone tells you to do just do what you want. I hate to tell her but PA is not AK. and she's got no business walking into a school with that attitude. I hate that woman more every day. Her false family, tourism mockumentary, jingoistic politics and just plain mean ass attitude makes me want to slap her upside the head. I'm also tired of waiting for "good" Alaskans to stand up and take this woman down. What the hell is wrong with people in that state?
ReplyDeleteI guess Chuck never taught Sarah that science was a good thing.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe her rejection of science is one of the ways she rebels against dear old dad.
She's just backing up her fat, idiotic friend Rush Limbaugh and his recent inexplicable pro-Twinkie rant:
ReplyDeletehttp://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2010/11/eat-all-the-twinkies-you-want.html
What does he care? He has enough money for good insurance to pay for multiple bypasses. What is wrong with these people?
she wants a nanny state when it comes to women's reproductive rights.
ReplyDeletei think i read a story where palin took credit for other peoples bake goods. What a moron.
ReplyDeleteShould she actually bring the topic up in front of other people's children she will loose a few more fans.
ReplyDeleteThere are actually parents who try to raise their children on healthy food, low fat, low sugar etc.
I don't think they are going to want the schools bringing in speakers to interfere with the examples and lessons they are trying to give to their children.
There are also parents who teach their children to respect education, discipline, and to respect teachers etc. Sarah will go down great with them also too.
She just wants for all children to grow up and be fat like Bristol, then Bristol will look thin!
ReplyDeleteHere' how we handle the school nuturition debate: We pack our kids lunch EVERY DAY. Sometimes they get cookies, sometime they get carrots for their 'treat'. But I, as a paren take control. Palin is not a parent that teaches good nutrition through example. Crcnh wraps, energy drinks, etc show on britol's wastline (or is that baby fat?).
ReplyDeletePalin needs to step away from tweeting, and step toward her kids. They need her more than we do.
If we all look pregnant then Bristol won't! Cookies for everyone! Then scarves, big ones, a big enough scarf can cover any amount of delectable indulgences.
ReplyDeleteWas she invited to speak there. What is she talking about? I thought she wanted to keep laws local. what business is it of hers?
ReplyDeleteWell, Bristol is clearly benefitting from plenty of cookies, etc.
ReplyDeleteWhy does she care? It's not like her school age kids go to school at all.... if Bristol's any indication, the Palin children eat what they want and however much they want.
ReplyDeleteAny parent that does not make their child wear a helmet while riding a 4 wheeler could give a damn about nutrition.
ReplyDeleteShe should be aware of the problems of childhood obesity AND diabetes if she was paying attention to these things while she was Governor.
And who is she to go into another state and decide what is best for them? Even if she does not agree with a policy there is a time and place to discuss it, not bring food to kids to "show' them how mean the other adults are.
Exactly msles...Sarah wants everyone to look like Bulging Bristol, who dances 6-8 hours a day, but has the figure of a post partem thirty-something woman who just gave birth to her third kid.
ReplyDeleteWTF, what school is paying Screech ? I hope she is not being paid with taxpayer dollars! I think she is just trying to one up Michelle Obama, by being the "cool mom/grandma" who lets her kids eat whatever the fuck they want even if it gives them diabetes.
did this school district ban the POTUS from the classroom? she has some nerve. feed you own kids crap.
ReplyDeleteShe is probably touchy because the McCain campaign wanted to bring in nutrtion counselors for her.
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding me??? THIS is what she wants to make a stand on???
ReplyDeleteI guess she will start tweeting about how its not fair that they won't allow peanut butter in daycare centers anymore.
Oh, I see...NOW she is an expert nutritionist. Wow, that Sarah is simply amazing. She knows something about everything, and still has time to hunt for dinner. Annie Oakley, eat your heart out.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Mrs. Palin, perhaps Bristol's double chin looks precious to you, but maybe some other parents would like to avoid having THEIR children endure having to carry that weight.
With all the problems with Bristol's weight on national TV, you think her mother would get a CLUE.
ReplyDeleteOh swell, kids, it's beer and McNugget Friday!
ReplyDeleteUh oh. She's doin' it again. Quick, Pennsylvania! Ban her entry into your state!
ReplyDeleteShe and Sean Parnell are going to borrow a private jet from Franklin Graham and come bring you plates of cookies!
Remember that Chicago girl's basketball team that she shamelessly used to curry favor with the crazy Arizona governor? What a mess she stirred up for them! That could be an Oprah show.
Sarah, don't tell anyone else how to parent. Your kid's not even in school - how would you even know how it works with a classroom of kids with diabetes, health issues, allergies, all on Ritalin?
"Laissez-faire" Really? Do you even know what that is? I mean more than what you think it is, because you read it on Dobson's blog.
Laissez faire (from the French, meaning to leave alone or to allow to do) is an economic and political doctrine that holds that economies function most efficiently when unencumbered by government regulation. Laissez faire advocates favor individual self-interest and competition, and oppose the taxation and regulation of commerce.
Most of the early opponents of laissez-faire capitalism in the United States subscribed to the American School.
This school of thought was inspired by the ideas of Alexander Hamilton, who proposed the creation of a government sponsored bank and increased tariffs to favor northern industrial interests.
So everything is a fucking conspiracy with this rancid little bitch? Cry me a river.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it is just about the obesity epidemic. There are alot of other problems it is addressing. Limiting the number of parties keeps the appropriate balance between school focus and party time. Requiring the parties to be AFTER lunch insures that the kids eat something more than treats that day. Limiting to one treat makes it less likely that the ditzy moms will compete for "who sent the most treats". (I have seen this happen - it is awful.)
ReplyDeletePersonally, I would ban birthday parties from school altogether. It isn't necessary and just causes problems.
She is such a dumbass. She made her "point" at a PRIVATE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL THAT IS NOT COVERED BY THE PROPOSED GUIDELINES!!!!
ReplyDeleteYeah, follow Sarah's parenting expertise on nutrition. Go feed Bristol and Willow more cake.
ReplyDeleteThis coming from a woman that lives on enerygy drinks and who knows what drugs.
ReplyDeleteSo SarahNanny runs amok (again)? Bless her heart, she needs a twitter app that tests to see if she's too stupid to tweet. We'd never hear from her again.
ReplyDeleteWhat does she care, they live on poached moose and caribou. (no license)
ReplyDelete@12:46. Sarah Ran A Marathon?? Evidence please.
ReplyDeleteUnsure why the school would still invite her to speak there if she's encouraging kids to defy guidelines. It's been said before, there seems to be a telling personality disorder with her. Definance is a sure trait. And in true grudge fashion, Sarah in her mind is defying First Lady Michelle Obama. She knows this is a topic close to the First Lady's heart.
ReplyDeleteIt's Sarah stabbing at everything that her opponents or perceived opponents like. It's typical repub tactics of saying no to anything the Administration proposes. They'd cut off their nose to spite their face.
Sarah is an example of people not putting helmets on their children.
ReplyDeleteSarah is stupid. Of course our schools should encourage good nutrition. Michelle Obama gets it. Eat right and move. The most important gift we can give to our nation's children.
ReplyDeleteDid Sarah Palin use her "favorite" rsearch table to look up the word "laissez-faire?"
ReplyDeleteAnd btw about what other posters said about Sarah having too much time on her hands - seems like it, don't it? Except when you think for a minute and realize....oh, that's right, she DOESN'T HAVE A JOB! The rest of us are working and don't have time to tweet nonsense.
..."Sarah, don't tell anyone else how to parent. Your kid's not even in school..."
ReplyDeleteHahahahahahahahhahahahahahaaaa!!!!!
Palin visited a PRIVATE school today, not a public school. Anything she brought to the PRIVATE school would either be in compliance or violation of that school's policies, not the state's policies.
ReplyDeleteShe confuses every issue she tweets. This is an example of a liar conflating two issues to suit her purposes.
LisanTX
Its like the mother in those asinine ads against taxes on soda and sports drinks. Sure, you can get whatever you want for your kids, but why should i pay the price in higher insurance rates to fund your fat, diabetic kids' healthcare?
ReplyDeleteOh, snap! Wait a minute...is this something Michelle Obama pushed for? Is the Queen of Mean trying to take on the First Lady? Yet another battle she'll lose.
ReplyDeleteThe city I live in does not allow ANY sugary sweets at elementary schools. No birthday cup cakes, no Halloween candy, no christmas cookies, no nothing. They also banned the sale of pop corn used for fundraisers because it was popped in transfat oils. The kids love it. This was 6 years ago. Guess what? Not one parent cared! believe me, kids eat enough junk without getting more of it at school.
ReplyDelete12:46pm You are being dishonest if you remove food selection from the equation. I have no idea where you received your evidence that Sarah has any nutrional values. All the info from the campaign and Levi suggests she a caffeine addict, which burns calories on it's own and the family makes Taco Bell runs. I certainly hope your evidence isn't her moose feast on Greta. If her daughters were taught to eat right, they wouldn't be in the "PANTS" they are today. You betcha!
ReplyDeleteJust when you think Sarah Palin has reached a new low, she lowers her own bar!
ReplyDeleteCookies, so that is what Barstools has been eating???
ReplyDeleteJust as a point of interest, New Jersey has had strict regulations on the kind of food that can be served in public schools for several years now. And you know what? It's gone over just fine!
ReplyDeleteWhen one of the commenters mentioned Michelle Obama's campaign against childhood obesity, the meaning of Sarah's rant fell into place. Jealous, jealous, jealous.
Sarah once again is stirring up violence among her supporters. Let's hope some parents don't resort to violence in the school.
ReplyDeleteWant to buy real crap for Christmas? Look at these books being offered for sale by far-right authors.

Disgusting, totally disgusting. These people are so desperately racism they will resort to anything.
That woman is an odiot (sic).
ReplyDeletePrivate or public, schools have to be careful and have to have strict policies governing the bringing of treats to school grounds for consumption during school hours. Some children have allergies and others have parental restrictions on what they are allowed to indulge in. Sarah can stuff her own children with whatever unhealthy foods she likes but, she'd better ask permission first from the school and the parents before she brings her "cookies".
ReplyDeleteHey Sister Sarah, doesn't a cult indoctrination diet usually consist of huge amounts of sugar and carbs?
ReplyDeleteDear Sarah, FYI - remember those snack rules for us hockey parents? How it outlined specifically what was and wasn't allowed?
ReplyDeleteDidn't you guys have to take a turn bringing snack? Oh, you didn't? Someone else did that for you? But wait, I thought you said ALL your kids played hockey, even Piper. So wouldn't that be now? Oh, you still don't bring snack. Oh, okay. Never mind then.
Well then, what about your kids' classroom guidelines? Don't you bring stuff for your kids' birthdays? You DO have five kids. Oh, you didn't get the note? Okay, well then, never mind.
Here's Birchtree's policy (it's one of the public schools in your neighborhood):
"Birthday Celebrations-Each class will have its own birthday protocol to honor students. If you would like to bring in a wholesome snack in celebration of your child’s birthday, please check with your child’s teacher regarding food allergies. In general, we suggest birthday treats such as popcorn, fruit, vegetables, or homemade goods. Please avoid artificial dyes and additives as many children are sensitive to these ingredients."
See, Sarah? It's not scary. Really. Nobody's trying to take away any God-given freedoms and liberties of those nice people in Pennsylvania.
And really, don't you think you should mind your own business and quit spying on everyone this country to find issues here and there to use for your Twitter program? Maybe you could practice a little laissez faire yourself.
Do you remember when you were the governor, you signed all that Wellness Policy stuff?
"Under the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004, school districts that participate in the National School Lunch Program nearly all U.S. school districts participate in these programs) are required to develop and implement local school wellness policies that address student nutrition and physical activity issues. According to the law, local wellness policies were to be developed by the beginning of the 2006–2007 school year, when the implementation phase was to begin. Currently, there are no consequences specifically stated in the legislation for districts that do not comply with these requirements, but districts should recognize that implementing a wellness policy is a tangible way to demonstrate concern for and improve students’ health."
'Nanny State'=new talking point for Rush, Beck and the rest.
ReplyDeleteGet used to the term , because you are going to hear it a lot in the future.
From Anonymous at 1:03 pm..." I hate that woman more every day. Her false family, tourism mockumentary, jingoistic politics and just plain mean ass attitude makes me want to slap her upside the head. I'm also tired of waiting for "good" Alaskans to stand up and take this woman down. What the hell is wrong with people in that state?" .
ReplyDeleteNicely put! Especially the remark about the mean ass attitude. For Sarah Palin "one-upping" is the ONLY way to live (as in her reported remark to Piper that they had "one upped" Joe McGinniss). I don't think Alaskans can be blamed for the travesty that is Sarah Palin. I would bet that if McCain had not tapped her for his running mate, Alaska would have given her the boot this go-around just like we did Joe Miller. McCain started this mess called Sarah Palin. Give credit where credit is due...or blame, in this case.
Ummm....Sarah Palin - parenting skills?
ReplyDeleteFolks, all schools everywhere had to implement Wellness policies of some kind. Even private schools.
ReplyDeleteKind of a 'no-brainer' what policies might easily address.
She is so critically foolish.
Oh the irony (once again with this dim bulb) she's telling this to kids at a private religious school? Private religious schools aren't exactly bastions of independence. What happens when one of these little darlings, on Stupid's advice, decides not to do their homework or attend school? Can they just say they were exercisin' their right to "lez-zay fur" then?
ReplyDeleteWhat about local control / state's rights? Who is she to parachute in and do otherwise? And on this topic, it was our great good fortune to attend a school who had inspired teachers who showed real leadership - facing resistance of every kind among their colleagues AND parents - to bring about real change and a healthier, fresher cafeteria in my son's elementary school...8 years ago, and in TEXAS, for heaven's sake! Today he is a 140lb 5'10" sophomore who actually now actually chooses for himself! What matters more than the health of our children, given the catastrophic effects and chronic health issues we now clearly understand? Only someone who doesn't understand the scientific facts would persist in aggressively promoting a poor diet... or someone who cravenly chooses to advance a political agenda on the backs of these kids. New low. I can only imagine that MICHELLE OBAMA is getting to Sarah too!
ReplyDeleteHey, if Alaskans were just too damn lazy or otherwise engaged to stand up for a decent candidate like Scott McAdams, do you really think the majority of them have enough guts or brains to bring Sarah Palin down?
ReplyDeleteThere are just a few really intelligent, really engaged Alaskans like Gryphen, AKM, Shannon Moore, WC and a few others who care enough to stand up against the madness. All the others, not so much.
If they ever get rid of their idiot politicians, I will have more respect for them as a group; until then, I value only the Alaskan bloggers and the few people who voted Democratic on Nov. 2nd. The rest - seemingly hopeless.
Sarah Palin is trying to break a rule for the bragging rights. What's that? OOOOOHHHHHH, silly, stupid, ignorant Sarah is going to a PRIVATE school that can gorge the kiddies on sugar because no one cares what happens to them. The parents of the kids in that school DESERVE the worst Sarah can dish out. Hope she brings a fetus in a bottle too, or may some moose eyeballs.
ReplyDelete12:46PM Where did you get your nutrition information? I cannot believe what you wrote. Of course what you eat is a HUGE determinant in your size. Do you think those 300 - 400 pounders, probably eating entire loaves of bread at one sitting, could even work in enough exercise to combat the calorie intake? (Don't scoff at this, I have seen exactly that take place in more than one setting.)
ReplyDeleteHave you watched those heavyweights at a salad bar or an "eat all you want" restaurant?
Don't ever go around tellling anyone they can eat all they want and just exercise it off!!!!
I am so angry at the ignorance of your statements. Have you read (followed) media coverage of Scarah's family's preferred diet, the concern over her eating habits during the VP prepping, how skinny she got during her public appearances, her downing the two Bailey's before 9 a.m., all the media coverage of BP's addiction to McD's etc.? And those examples tell us the Paylin tribe are nutrition conscious?
Your assertion that PE in school and other exercise, can offset any menu is ludicrous.
Please don't be telling people food intake is not key to maintaining good health. Exercise is very important but you yourself admit it can be a farce and differ from the label it carries.
It takes a lot to really make me angry, but people's health is all many of them have and I find it very anxiety producing when poor information is distributed.
Kids have birthday parties at home or somewhere else, in addition to the school birthday treat. One is enough!
ReplyDeleteOur kids experiencing an epidemic of obesity....and too much junk is a huge part of the problem.
"No one but her knows the stress this summer caused her. No one knows why she's heavier aside from some women have a harder time balancing weight after childbirth.
ReplyDelete12:46 PM"
Oh puhleez. Works out - riding a 4 wheeler isn't working out. And why doesn't that child have a helmet on? Personally, I hope Sarah's skull and a tree have an up close and personal, but the kid?
As for Bristle - she lost the baby weight, look at the pics. Now she's supposedly dancing for hours every day and GAINING. In sunny veggie and fruit filled Cali, with money to burn on good healthy restaurants or even a private chef, and she has a fulltime nanny. Heck, I've got a few decades on her, and I'd be a size two given the opportunity to work out that much, even if I ate 500 calories more than I regularly do.
Isn't this the same dimrod who brought cookies instead of heating oil to freezing Alaskan tribes?
ReplyDeleteAnd Bristol is pudging like she ate all the food in her Harper's Bazaar shoot.
I guess in Alaska sugar buys love.
One monthly birthday party, and only three holiday parties, after lunch, eh? That's how my grade school ALWAYS did things. Not only that, but we were a small enough school to have two little older ladies cooking HOMECOOKED food for us. Best vegetable soup EVER! Damn, I miss my grade school.
ReplyDelete@12:35 pm, msles59130 said...
ReplyDelete"...have you seen HER oldest daughter? I didn't get that big until I was in my 30s and had given birth to twins! ..."
I think her oldest daughter does have somethin' in the oven - that's why she's gettin' bigger every time we see her.
"Gov. Sarah Palin issued this proclamation in May to remind all of us that being safe around water, whether or not boating or fishing, is smart and more than the easily remembered “do what you otter around water, wear a pfd”" But yet see this famous Alaskan child in Bristol Bay--
ReplyDeletehttp://ykalaska.wordpress.com/2009/07/12/some-costs-of-not-using-the-alaska-pfd/
Couldn't agree with you more, mom anon @1:45.
ReplyDeleteI got absolutely sick and tired of all the parties and sugar and cookies at school. It got to a point that my making cookies with or for my kids couldn't even be a treat or special because it was in front of them all the time. Everybody else got to be the good guy and mom the ogre. I think a monthly party with one treat to celebrate everyone's birthday in that month is a cool idea.
With that and holiday parties, the kiddies are still getting a party per month per school year - sounds about right.
Our local high school offered a home ec class which the students planned, shopped, cooked the school lunches.
ReplyDeleteBesides the nutritional/ business/cooking lessons, really great lunches, they also got a head start for jobs in the restaurant/catering industry.
The Palins have never been ones to think out of the Jack-in-the Box.
ReplyDeletePalin thinks that laissez-faire means Tinker Belle sitting on her ass.
ReplyDeleteMy daughters' school doesn't allow birthday parties. The class sings and the birthday girl or boy can give out a little (non-food) gift. As a parent, I'm glad. A birthday party will basically eat away at most of the day...the build up and the execution of it. I've not heard another parent complain and would wonder what in the world was wrong with them if they did. If the kids complain, that's tough. They're kids.
ReplyDeleteMy friends who have kids with allergies are extra happy.
Sarah Palin is one of those moms who would be bitching on the playground about the "no cookies, no cake" rules and would send her precious little demons in with them anyway.
Sarah goes after the First Lady.
ReplyDeleteOne minute a failed economic discussion, the next, school lunches.
She's such a flake.
You see what shit-for-brains-sarah is attempting to do don't you??? That tweet is just another attempt at SPs kiddish one-up-man-shit game against the Obama's. The prick teaser cannot get a "RISE" out of Obama so next best thing is to go after his wife and her program>>>>>>>
ReplyDeleteMichelle Obama aims to end child obesity in a generation ...

I sincerely doubt that SP has an inkling that Laissez Faire is about economics, not calories!
What Does Laissez Faire Mean?
An economic theory from the 18th century that is strongly opposed to any government intervention in business affairs.
Sometimes referred to as "let it be economics."
Investopedia explains Laissez Faire,
People who support a laissez faire system are against minimum wages, duties, and any other trade restrictions.
Anyway now we know why the lipsticked pig's little piglet is turning into a fat hog before our very eyes, on stage, in front of the whole world!
An interesting observation over the years, every time I have been behind some obese woman at the checkout counter in a grocery store their basket is full of fat foods, Ice cream, candy, pies, cakes and pastries of all kinds and loads of the big 'heat and serve' meals and ..... A CASE OF DIET SODA!
Well, Sarah, if one kid gets an allergic reaction to something you put in those cookies, I hope that Van Flein will be able to defend you. There was a reason that school had dietary guidelines, and it's just so cute that you broke their law.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 2:58 pm: The term 'nanny state' has been around for a long time. It's been applied to European and UK social programs for at least 2 decades. She did not coin the phrase. Rush and Glenn and Sean use it all the time. You just haven't heard it before because you are smart enough not to listen to rants from the right.
ReplyDeleteOne only has to wear a helmet if they have any brains to protect.
ReplyDeleteThere is an ad running on many TV stations where the actress/mom pushes her cart down the supermarket aisle while she complains about the government telling her what her kids can eat.
ReplyDeleteActually, all that they want to regulate is the amount of sugar in processed foods, something that has been contributing to the unhealthy, obese kids who may get diabetes, have high blood pressure or any number of problems associated with obesity.
Sugar comes hidden in the form of high fructose corn syrup, which isn't harmful all by itself. The reason that it is used is that it is cheaper than sugar, makes good taste good, and prolong the shelf life of processed food. When a kid eats a McDonald's hamburger, no one realizes that it is high fructose corn syrup keeping that bun tasting fresh, even though it may have been on the shelf for a week.
It's nice that Sarah wants to keep government out of your supermarket. The FDA is supposed to protect us against all of the harmful crap that does get into the food chain. They inspect food production sites to make sure that there isn't salmonella in the eggs or chickens. Have you seen Fast Food Nation? Sarah picks the worst battles with the government. Next thing you know, she'll want to take down those warning gates and lights at railroad crossings to save money.
Wait a minute, she is speaking at a christian school. wouldn't that be a private school, not a public school. What a moron.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.phillyburbs.com/news/local/courier_times/courier_times_news_details/article/28/2010/november/05/palin-to-speak-at-plumstead-christian-school.html
A joke going around is that she's perfectly qualified to be President. . .of the Wasilla PTA.
ReplyDeleteI've always said I would absolutely hate to have those women like Sarah Palin show up at public or even private meetings, because you know she's going to press culture war buttons, mock PC attitudes and resort to Christian/libertrian/Tea Party antics to cow the h8rs.
Disengaged mother to the hilt until you question her skills or impose new rules that offend her. Then she's all in your face throwing her sharp bony decalcified elbows around.
Let's face it, she's the Nazi Cow from Field of Dreams that wanted to ban books - Nightmare-Parent-You-Hope-Misses-The-Metting-Notice.
Why are you saying that "laissez faire" is a term that ONLY applies to economics? Look it up in the dictionary.
ReplyDeleteThe first definition is about economics. BUT, the second is "noninterference in the affairs of others." That's a general outlook that is not limited to financial issues.
Okay, tell us all about this MARATHON that Sarah Palin ran when she was over forty? What was that time again?
ReplyDeleteIn fact, tell us about ALL of the marathons that Sarah Palin has participated in that she ran all 26.5 miles. We want to know dates, places and times.
I recall the one marathon that she was in where she started and ended up at the finish. Most marathoners RUN a full 26.5 miles.
The Grizzeled One is taking on trying to take on Michele Obama!
ReplyDeleteHillarious!
Gryphen, if you'd like to use the following for a post about how much Palin has earned recently, please do. If not, just take off this opening and post this as my comment in this thread:
ReplyDelete"Authors typically get about fifteen percent of a book’s list price as a royalty, according to author agents. “Going Rogue” hardcover sold for $28.99, before discounts. If you do the math, that means she made about $11 million on last year’s hardback sales alone, not to mention this year’s sales, including e-book and paperback rights and the advance for her next book, and speaking fees. No wonder she resigned the Alaska governorship."

What's the flipping deal about having big fat diabetic kids anyway? I mean it's not like they'll get heart disease, go blind & lose their feet ... oh wait.
ReplyDeletePalin doesn't even know the nutrition guidelines of Anchorage School District. If she did she would be bringing her cookies closer to home.
ReplyDeleteWatched part of her Q&A with the students and couldn't stomach it. Man, that woman is shameless.
ReplyDeleteHypocrisy, thy name is Palin. No government control over what I put in my stomach, unless it's a bun in the oven.
ReplyDelete"menu of healthy snacks from their district's food services department" What's that? The school lunches prepared by my school's "food services departmeent" was vile.
ReplyDeleteFor those who seem to think that, to lose weight, you only need to get your exercise level up without adjusting anything in your diet, think again. Think about trying to empty the bathtub with the tap wide open: there will be some improvement, but before you close that wide open tap, the tub will never get empty.
ReplyDeleteWhat (food) you put into your body, is the fuel your body moves from and you brain thinks with. It is that stuff that cloggs up the arteries, messes up your sugar balance and causes all sorts of diseases. Combine it with insufficient exercise, and it cause havoc even faster. Combine it with exercise, and you'll burn some of the bad stuff off, but you will not be fully fit until you balance what you eat (the fuel your body needs, with less of the empty calories, in portions adjusted to you) with your exercise level.
If you have bad eating habits, but exercise sufficiently, you may not be overweight, but your body will still be plagued with cholesterol levels, fats and sugar levels etc to potentially make you sick. Try it; even if you're skinny; eat balanced for a few weeks, and see your energy levels soar...
I have, ever since my children weaned off breast milk, fed them nothing but dairy, veggies, meat, potatoes and rice. There never even were sweets, cakes, cookies in the house... Now that they go to school and do get offered sweet things once in a while, at least they know what 'real' food tastes like.. their tastebud-foundation has been set. And they know that cookies, sweets, ice-cream, etc are unhealthy, and should only be taken in very limited quantities (one sweet per day, as a maximum!)
If you allow children to grow up eating junk for food, they will assume junk is proper food, and veggies etc will be some exotic flavor they never tried, and may be reluctant to try. Bring that in a school environment, where the school endorses what is served, it is certainly viewed as 'good', because in many young kids mind, what the school tells you, is true...
In an ideal world, schools would serve up wholesome meals, have the occasional party with healthy snacks, and at least half an hour of excercise a day (recess times where active play is encouraged, counts). And parents would supplement that with healthy breakfast and dinner, and another half an hour of active play/exercise after school...
So no, Sarah, please don't bring my child any cookies. Even if you tried, I be overly proud if my child told you to your face " No, I can't, it's not healthy"

ReplyDeleteHuman physiology is more complex then what you wrote your belief is. Please do yourself a favor to learn about health and nutrition. Exercise is one aspect of the larger picture.
I'd alo like to see photos of the marathon.
Same woman whose son is over in Iraq feeding their children a steady diet of iron and pulverized uranium.
ReplyDeleteGood stuff.
OT-just in, Bristol and Mark are safe. Brandy is not. I read on the DWTS discussion board bragging about one person voting 130 times for Bristol. I think the fan base shares the mentality of one upping, play to win (so ha ha you are the loser), cheat to win and even if their chosen was is the worst, least able tehy will bnd togethre to ha ha "show people" to put others down there and put one of there own above all others.
ReplyDeleteI find this contemptible yet confirming the Peebots have no use for intelligence, developing potential, work ethics, and mosst importantly integrity. It's no different then Joe Miller. I have read at C4P it is only about who wins the game and hey banish anyone who voies ethics or principals slamming them they are not team players.
People who are in reality true losers, low, at the bottom and seek to be on the top through cheating, deceptions shall ever remain in the scum of the pond. The one up position is false, a set up existing only in their minds.
I love it Stupid SP is having a spat with WSJ. Sp is a stupid arrogant bitch. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/11/09/sarah-palin-federal-reserve_n_780833.html
ReplyDeleteNO Anon @ 4:19. they want to tax non-food items. Included in that list of non-food are soft drinks (cola, pop soda). ANd right wing idiots are complaining - hey, I'd like them not to tax beer - did you know there's more nutritional value in a beer than in a soda?
ReplyDeleteRight wing fundernut knuckle draggin idiots. Wonder if $carah was the type to put pepsi in her kids' sippy cups?
I'm guessing you don't remember when she inserted herself into the high school basketball team with some latino players whose coach canceled their trip to AZ?
ReplyDelete$p should research how many children die each year from not wearing a helmet. See photo of Piper. Another thing, who in the sugar industry is paying her to make an ass of herself. Seems like she should worry about her own motherless children, especially Tri-G, and Pier.
ReplyDeleteI think Sarah Palin is the kind of person who would serve cookies with nuts to children w/nary a care that someone might be allergic to them.
ReplyDeleteThat's just the kind of person I think she is! A food terrorist!!
She has to push cupcakes - her cupcake-baking "Alaska documentary" is screening soon ...
ReplyDeletelosing weight involves exercise, but is 80% diet. programs like these are essential not only for the kids, but also to teach parents how to eat healthy. the poor especially often neither have knowledge nor access to healthy food because it is less expensive to eat junk food than healthy in this country. don't these teabaggers always say it is up to the individual states how they govern themselves? well, last time i checked, alaska is pretty far from PA... but maybe sarah doesn't know that.
ReplyDeleteOur school district two years ago took on the issue when parents decided the pop and candy machines should go. And we hired a wellness and phys ed position! I really do not remember an uproar, so where is Palin's drama originating? In her head, of course. It is just another regulation rant against free markets in her mind. Good grief! I remember when the pop machines weren't in the schools and everyone had to take PE!!! She is such a tool for the corporate interests! Give it up Sarah, you are an absolute hypocrite.
ReplyDeletePalin tweets: "2 PA school speech; I'll intro kids 2 beauty of laissez-faire via serving them cookies amidst school cookie ban debate;Nanny state run amok!"
ReplyDeleteOK. 1) So she can't use semi-colons correctly.
2) "The beauty of Laissez-faire." Really? Then why does she use makeup, wigs, and false eyelashes?
"Sugar comes hidden in the form of high fructose corn syrup, which isn't harmful all by itself."
ReplyDeleteThe Bocarsly study out of Princeton draws the above statement into question on two fronts, the cost front (if it's more expensive, then perhaps they will put less of it in fewer foods) and it may react differently than sucrose or fructose with neuro receptors.
Fortunately Palin's nanny scolding of the people of PA, who care about their children's health, from her virtual perch in twitterland has no virtual reach into our state, or into our reality.
ReplyDeleteA sense of decency prevents me from commenting on the health of Palin's own children.
There is though a saying, "People in glass houses....
Wow! I can't believe this woman is given a minute's coverage or the least bit credibility. I am a loving person and very accepting of those who I don't agree with, but I have to say, this woman makes my blood boil and I feel she is trying to create hate and division. It is so sad. She is actually doing this on purpose!
ReplyDeleteI'm a teacher in PA public school (not the RELIGIOUS PRIVATE school that SP brought her cookies to). My kids really need to benefit from the ruling about nutrition and exercise- and they get that. I, and a huge bunch of my students, wish our school lunches had better options for healthy meals. I think it's funny that SP freaked about the "no cupcake" rule, yet my 14 year old students think this is completely reasonable and wish it would go further. It says something when "hormones with feet" are more rational than a former governor.
ReplyDeleteWell..the Fat Cow is still on DWTS. I never watched this until B. got on....but I sure won't watch it anymore...ever. This is a shame and disgrace.
ReplyDeleteMark Mckinnon gives a damining opinion of Palin on Lawrence O'Donnell, including "She's no Ronald Reagan" and "her shelf life is about to expire". Much, much more, it was right on!
ReplyDelete4:43, doesn't matter what the literal meaning is, a simple google search shows that the term is used in conjunction with economics.
ReplyDeletemy take is that palin is trying to use a well-known economics term and apply it to another area as a means of displaying her "vast knowledge" of economics. i guess it works with fools.
"Look, that cute Sarah Palin knows all about that lazy-fair stuff."
Well, Palin is the expert. She's the one who sat in her room eating crunch wrap tacos until she discovered the Red Bull diet.
ReplyDeleteSarah Palin doesn't give a tinker's twinkie about anything that gets her to yapping. All she does is latch on to every angle she and her consultants can find that will stir the pot of stupid.
ReplyDeleteShe doesn't care about her kids and she damn sure doesn't care what, or even if, yours are eating.
this drama will go on for the next two years, people. this woman is desperate for attention.
she's getting attention all right... and it is turning people OFF.
Wait, what? So she's weighing in on the idea of people I don't know coming to my kid's classroom and feeding him stuff I don't approve of?
ReplyDeleteWouldn't you think that the parents-rights folks would be in favor of school districts saying, hey, you can't just come into the classroom and serve kids stuff their parents haven't approved of? But no, I guess Sarah thinks its OK to crash my kid's classroom and fill him up with stuff I don't want him to eat - maybe even stuff he might be allergic to.
Hey....pssst...Trigg....over here. Want some candy?
Sarah has always stayed active. She ran a marathon in under 4 hours at age 40. There's evidenced in those MSNBC emails she values nutrition.
ReplyDeleteRight. That's why she says she wants to come feed cookies to your kid without your permission.
Perhaps if Bristol's school had had a rule such as this................millions of people would not now be speculating that she is five or six months pregnant.
ReplyDeleteI am one of those parents who do not want to see all fun food and holiday celebrations cancelled. However, consolidating birthday celebrations to one group b-day party a month and three holiday parties a year is very reasonable.
When you have five separate birthday parties in one month, it starts to cut into the time the kids are supposed to be learning. It's also a lot more difficult to organize one of these classroom parties now when usually at least two or three kids have life-threatening allergies and cannot eat the usual cupcake, etc.
Perhaps Sarah's next tweet will be some kind of order for kids to ignore the different classroom rules such as "no peanut butter sandwiches in the classroom because if Johnny should accidentally ingest one tiny protein, he could die". After all, these nanny state kids are just trying to keep your kid from enjoying his God-given right to eat PB & J! bt
Oh, and another thing, WGE, it's not a BAN. They can have ONE sweet treat and the rest of the snacks must be healthy.
ReplyDeleteYes, and you know what parents? If you want to stuff your brat full of sugar, you can certainly do that before school, after school, and before bedtime!!!
CA Dreamin' you are absolutely correct. My husband had to spend some time down in CA (we are in AK currently)and the one thing he noticed while living there compared to here is that AK has a TON more fat people than CA ever dreamed of having. I wonder why that is?
ReplyDeleteLet's face it folks. America is FAT. For so many of our children, that school meal is their main meal of the day. Why not make it as healthy as it can be? Why does Sarah fucking Palin have a problem with this?
And don't forget- Sarah has a soft spot for cookies. When our people in the Bush couldn't pay for their heating last winter, she showed up with Billy Carter and crates of COOKIES. Not heat for you! Use your fat stores by eating these delicious cookies I brought you!
ReplyDeleteWhen my son was in school, they had restrictions, too. I don't remember exactly what those restrictions were, but I remember why they were enacted.
ReplyDeleteNutrition & sugar. Sugar affects the behavior of children. It produces a sugar high, then it crashes like a brick. There's little time for kids to work that sugar spike off.
At first, I didn't think it was fair, as I remember my childhood parties in grade school, which were fun & tasty. But I understand the concern today.
But in those days (50s & 60s), we didn't consume candy, pop & junk food as we do now. When we ate sweets it was because mom baked the cookies, pies & cakes. No preservatives, no artificial flavoring & no High Fructose Corn Syrup.
Also, back in my day, we walked to & from school; we walked home for lunch & then walked back to school; we had recess in the morning & in the afternoon; and gym three times a week.
We played outside when we got home because we were not burdened with hours of homework!
Those were the days ...... all that exercise, & an excellent education.
Yep, those were the days.
Palin is an idiot.
Denise (Michigan)
Hope she brings a fetus in a bottle too, or may some moose eyeballs.
ReplyDelete3:28 PM
Her pappy has plenty of that crap- I've seen it myself! It will have to be a moose fetus though.
This woman physically pains me.
ReplyDeleteI check your blog EVERY day, praying that this is the day when all of her lies are irrefutably revealed.
I figure, if the Stupid's poster girl is proven to be the liar she is, even the simplest of her followers might turn to someone or something better.
For anyone who thinks that letting kids get obese, not teaching them about good nutrition or habits is in any way compatible with PARENTING or TEACHING, then they have a screw loose.
Perhaps we should start installing cigarette machines in elementary schools. Just in case we want to promote "laissez-faire" in 7 year-olds.
12:46pm
ReplyDeleteDead wrong. What you stuff in your maw matters a lot more than how much you move. Ever see a "skinny" fat person? They are thin but not toned. That happens to a lot of older folks and is natural. What is unnatural is for 5 year old children not being able to move due to their parents stuffing them full of crap.
I live in PA and our school district has already adopted the policy at the erqueat of the PARENTS.
ReplyDeleteShe is a pthetic whack job, that Sarah. I wonder how the parents of the school reacted to her retardedness. And what is a nanny state???
I' really surprised she was in the
Peddler's Village area. I wish I had known earlier and I would have driven the hour to "meet" her.
Should somebody let Sarah knows that the MSBSD, her own kids' school district, also has nutritional guidelines restricting sugar and fat?
ReplyDeleteIsn't it the tea party darlings who say that each local school board SHOULD have the say in what happens in their schools? That's not a "nanny state." That's smaller government!
ReplyDeleteGuess Sarah is against anyone establishing rules.

WE know what you meant M106, but it was Billy Graham's son Franklin you are talking about, not Billy Carter.
Rick
What Sarah doesn't realize is that a very similar law was enacted in Texas under her fav Governor Perry back around 2003 through his head of Agriculture! I was a teacher in the state when the strict guidelines went into effect. We couldn't even give the kids a starburst. One teacher lost her job over a candy cane. Texas is a very top-down state, and the folks pretty much do as they're told. Can't imagine Palin ridin' into Austin to duel with Perry over this.
ReplyDeletePalin the green-eyed cookie monster is so very transparently jealous of the first lady's campaign to help kids make healthy food choices. As another queen said, Hey Let Them Eat Sugar! I’m not a blogger but someone should blog about this. This could be Sarah Palin’s and Rand Paul’s America someday!
