Fox News can't find Egypt on the map.

From Vancity Buzz

Can you believe that millions of Americans still consider Fox News a reliable source of information?

Or that they still believe that Sarah Palin is a viable Presidential candidate?

For those who still don't see the problem:

It is amazing, isn't it - what with all the harping on Iraq.

However, it is Fox News. They have never put a emphasis on reporting facts.

I read that the map may have first been used in 2009 or 2010, but I don't think the quality of research at Fox News has improved much so it is probably still indicative of what is going on - plus, considering that they have Beck and Palin both on the payroll, I would be bold enough to say that the quality of factual reporting has deteriorated.

Did Fox make a false map to shore up misinformation ?

So when the Fox News followers, aka Tea Party or Sarah Palin supporters crow about Chris Matthews flub in referencing the Panama Canal instead of the Suez, they wouldn't have been able to do better?

OT, but really astounding - click on the following to read details about Sarah's speech to the Safari Club from The Daily Beast.

    Truly disgusting.

Once again, Sarah proves herself to be afraid of full and hones reporting by barring the press from the event. Does this woman have any guts at all?

Fox News motto - Why bore you with the facts, when we can brainwash you with lies.

Well Gryph, that's about the most damning evidence that fuxsnooze is the most inept "news" of all time.

Imagine how many people see that map and actually believe that Iraq is Egypt! I'm sure the Iraqis would be surprised as would the Egyptians.

    The dumb leading the dumber.

Well, I guess, according to Fox, the U.S. has already invaded that country.

If you read that Daily Beast article on Sarah's Safari speech and you are Alaskan, you might get a bit warmed up by the following excerpt from her speech.

"She admits that she 'threw a little politics' into her recent TLC reality show by dragging the crew to the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge on the pretense of hunting caribou. Her real purpose? Showing viewers that ANWR is a 'barren, desolate, less-than-pristine place'--perfect, in other words, for lots of new oil drilling. 'If a caribou needs to be sacrificed for the sake of energy independence,' she adds, 'I say, 'Mr. Caribou, maybe you need to take one for the team.'"

We knew she was using the show for political propoganda, but really, to brag about it and to disparage ANWR like that and to be so callous to wildlife, a major tourist draw --- how can this woman say she is promoting Alaska?

Hey, listen, for them everything is about Iran, always. They were probably engaging in a huge rant about neighboring "exremist" countries when they put that map up, but you know that too.

I sure hope Immoral Minority is not joining the February boycott on Sarah started by Dana Milbank because her crazy act is not going on hiatus.

For example, she made a crack about Egypt at that Safari club meeting that's speaks to the boycott:

Part of Sarah's contract with Fox is she makes their maps.

She forgot to include the cross hairs on this one.

  19. in our family, we play a game like trivial pursuits, where everyone gets to make up the questions.
My question was "draw the countries around the Mediterranean Sea.
Many in my family can't get most of them, but none are as wrongly placed as Fox News's map.
    Thanks for sharing.

Gryphen is free to 'loose' his credibility upon the world...but I find those who can't use words in the proper context or with the proper spelling to be the ones who 'lose' credibility.

I guess Faux News's crack Research and Lunch Order Department didn't realize (or care) that Egypt is in the Palin-annointed "Country of Africa."

Doesn't matter if the graphic is two years or two minutes old, the shameful thing is that they still let it go through. Not that their addled audience would notice anyway.

It's probably part of their plan to associate Iraq and Iran with all things violent . . .

God, now I feel like an idiot. I looked at your graphic before coffee, and I did think to myself, gee, I never realized Egypt shared a border with Iran!!!!! Completely spaced out on Iraq.

    Geez.

So glad you highlighted this. Where the hell did they even get this map?

No big deal, we will just change the label Iraq to Egypt. Americans will never know the difference, 2/3rds of them could not identify Washington DC on a map.

SOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Iraq has been incorporated into Egypt!!!!

    Who knew!!!!!!

It's almost as if Sarah was running the place and gave jobs to all her high school friends.

Maybe it's just had to get good people to work at the asylum.

Concerning Fox News and the unlikely event that a certain former half a governor is actually arrested- Fox News will have at the bottom of the screen the Snowgrift Snookie $arah Paylin is a DEMOCRAT.

I was in Egypt for awhile in the Eighties, so I know that it's in North Africa. However, if I'd never gone, as the product of an American public school, I'm pretty sure that I probably never would have noticed the FOX mistake!

My daughter is taking geography in middle school this year, and has some really funny anecdotes about kids mislabeling places. On a recent quiz where the kids were allowed to study for ten minutes right before taking it, and only being asked to know the correct placement of five place names, one kid thought that Greenland was Alaska! It's actually very cute and funny at that age...........not so cute or funny when you realize that as adults, half of Americans probably couldn't find Canada or Mexico on an unmarked map.

While we were in Egypt, you couldn't help but notice the widespread poverty. Even their middle class seemed dirt poor to us. The hotels that we stayed in literally had pieces of the buildings crumbling away.....we never went out on the balconies because of it, and said a prayer every night that there wouldn't be an earthquake while we were visiting.
