Courtesy of Current TV:
Keith Olbermann, the acclaimed broadcaster and writer whose verbal pyrotechnics and moral passion have outraged, informed, and dazzled viewers of "Countdown With Keith Olbermann" for the past eight years, is bringing his slashing wit, analytical eye, and distinctive commentary to Current Media, the Emmyu00ae and Peabody Award-winning TV and digital media company that was founded in 2005 by Al Gore and Joel Hyatt and is now distributed in more than 75 million households around the world. The news was announced today in New York.
In addition to executive producing and hosting a new nightly primetime news and commentary show, Keith Olbermann will also serve as the company's Chief News Officer and will have an equity stake in Current Media.
The new show will air weeknights in primetime beginning later in 2011.
A MESSAGE FROM KEITH OLBERMANN
"Nothing is more vital to a free America than a free media, and nothing is more vital to my concept of a free media than news produced independently of corporate interference. In Current Media, Al Gore and Joel Hyatt have created the model truth-seeking entity. The opportunity to partner with Al, Joel and Mark Rosenthal makes this the most exciting venture in my career."
Well it is great news to see Keith back on television, and I wish him much success.
However I personally will not get to see him back in action because as it turns out my cable provider does not carry Current TV. At least not yet.
Damn the luck!.
Don't despair Gryph, under "follow us online" on the current tv website there are links to iTunes and Hulu, so perhaps podcasts and rebroadcasts of Keith's new show will be available.

Sorry to hear you cannot get Current TV.
ReplyDeleteI subscribe to Time-Warner and it does, so I am looking forward to seeing what he comes up with.
I really enjoyed visiting the Current TV website. It has some fantastic programming that I was totally unaware of because Current had not been high on my viewing list until now.
You can bet I will make it a major habit, though, once Olbermann gets going.
Check out the short video clips of a program called Vanguard. Amazing stuff. I viewed a clip on the problems arising from the fact that more than half of the world lacks toilets. It was reported just as you'd want for the truth -- unsugared-coated, showing the sh*t where it fell, literally. Sure wakes you up to the realities of the world.
This should be a perfect fit for Keith. He likes to give us the unvarnished truth as well.
To potential trolls who will likely pick up and make comments on the feces issue, we should examine it - after all, sh*t does happen. However, media outlets like Current are at least willing to address the problem and encourage solutions.
OT - The crazy train is moving again.

Would love to hear Keith's reaction to Christine's justification for sending in money to her:
"A strong ChristinePAC will enable me to counter the liberal-controlled GOP establishment."
Liberal controlled GOP???? Man, she is crazy.
She also identified herself as the White House's "number one opponent" in the last election. Yeah, like she kept everyone in it awake at night, trembling.
Good grief - what is it with all these Tea Party women -- giant egos and skewed views of realities: Angle, O'Donnell, Brewer, Bachmann, and Palin.
The GOP ought to be embarrassed to have these women represent their feminine side. Yuck.
Hulu carries Current TV programs online.

ReplyDeleteThis link will be your ticket to the show. A lot of their content is available online.
Hi Keith!! ~waving madly with big ol' grin on my face~
ReplyDeleteJust checked, Current tv is included on Dish. I'm soooooo happy!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of Current Media. I have DirecTV and looked at the programming guide and didn't see it. I did find a channel that was listed as Current TV, but I don't know if it is the same thing. If anyone would so be kind enough to help me, I would appreciate it. I too love Kieth Olbermann and would like to see him back on TV. Also, if they stream it on the internet, I would also like to know that.
ReplyDeleteThanks in advance if anybody can help me!!
Keith brought Rachel and Lawrence to MSNBC. I expect Current TV will benefit greatly from having him on board.
ReplyDeleteMy cable doesn't carry it either. Thanks to those who suggested watching online and hulu.
I called my cable co., Cox and told them if they don't have this channel by the time KO is on, I will switch to dish network. I am jonesing that much for my Keith!
ReplyDeleteI think this will be a win-win-win situation: for Olbermann, definitely for Current, and mostly for us. I just texted my son to find out if we get it.
ReplyDeletego to current.com to check whether you get it. I have DirectTV and our channel for Current is 358. Now I just have to wait for the show to premiere.
ReplyDelete@2:36
ReplyDeleteCurrent TV is channel 358 on DirecTV
TOTALLY O/T : Please watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DebhWD6ljZs
ReplyDeleteIf THAT doesn't scare the cell phone out of your hands while driving, I don't know what will! :(
Great news! MSNBC will regret pushing him out, I think.
ReplyDeleteYou need to switch to Direct TV. Current TV is a pretty good channel. Ithink it is geared to a younger internet group. I am old and I like to watch what the young people are into.
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly what our allies SHOULD do....progressives and liberals and moderates banding together. I'm disappointed to learn that we've lost Huffington Post, because AOL just aquired it. I had high hopes for that website, but not anymore. I can't believe Ariana sold it, when her whole purpose was to be anti-corporate media.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to Keith.
Hurrah for Hulu!
ReplyDelete["as it turns out my cable provider does not carry Current TV. At least not yet."]
ReplyDeleteYou had it in your last phrase, Gryph; "At least not yet"
This is where we come in. Whoever your video provider is will respond to the wants of the viewers, if the want is big enough. What better way to do headcount in any given area, than for the masses to be clamoring for Keith and his newest iteration.
I wonder how long after Keith is established and setting ratings records with Current, that it will come about that they lure Rachel away from MSNBC. With Comcast having bought NBC Universal out, it won't be long before the CATV thugs start leaving their fingerprints all over the news devision.
Watch and see. Keith and Rachel,
together again.
WTF is Current TV ???
ReplyDeleteit's an ill wind that blows nobody good.
ReplyDeletei will certainly follow what keith does because i am such a fan. i think this will free him up and we will get the same good info and everyone will get to see them thanks to all your websites and blogs. yea!!!
If he isn't on internet I won't see him. Maybe one of the existing progressive internet news sites will be able to stream his show or better yet make it available 24/7 for viewing.
ReplyDeleteHooray!!! I switched to Verizon FIOS last month (no I don't work for them)...Current TV #192...Way to go Keith...
ReplyDeleteMy cable network does carry CurrentTv~doing a happy dance here. Can hardly wait to hear KO utter those immortal words "That woman is an idiot".
ReplyDeleteScorpie~
I e-mailed GCI today requesting that they consider adding current to their lineup. We just need to let them know what we want and hopefully they'll respond accordingly.
ReplyDeleteBlue_in_AK
my cable provider doesn't have it either - but I plan on callling and emailing a lot, and my mom will too (she has the same cable provider) - hopefully they will carry by the time Keith is on the air - if not thank goodness for internet so I can watch online.
ReplyDeleteMine doesn't either. But I'm hoping his broadcasts will be available online.
ReplyDeleteAnd who knows? If enough viewers are able to follow him, cable companies may be adding Current TV to their lineup.
