Sarah Palin's parents, Chuck and Sally Heath, invited Newsnight's Jackie Long to take a tour of their family home in Alaska.
They explained that they are still coming to terms with the fact their daughter is perhaps the most divisive politician in American politics.
Sally said she cannot understand why some people seem to hate Sarah so much.
It might help Sally Heath to better understand just why so many people hate Sarah if she were to visit Sarah's Palin's enemy list, compiled by Tina Dupuy, and featured today over at the Atlantic.

ReplyDeleteI am in awe of David Letterman at #1. All he did was make a joke that wasn't even about Palin's daughter and Palin becomes an obsessive Letterman hater. That whole affair fairly encapsulates just how astoundingly stupid Sarah Palin actually is. The joke was about Alex Rodriguez and in Palin's tiny little mind, of course that meant it was actually about her.
Sarah Palin is too stupid to realize just how stupid she is. And yet, she has managed to parlay being a narcissistic, moronic bitch into a small fortune.
There was a time in America when being ignorant, vain, and pissy would have kept you off the national stage. You could be any two, but all three would have been an absolute barrier to any future in politics or even life in the public spotlight. No longer. The list is made up of people and groups she has personally, by name, gone after in the press. Left out are people who criticize her and she ignores, like Meghan McCain. Those are rare. Also excluded are people who've only been harassed on her behalf, but not actually by her, like California State Senator Leland Yee. Plus, no dead people who can't defend themselves. Sorry, Shakespeare. What's left are people who have participated in a back and forth with Sarah Palin.
So her mom admits that "SO MANY" hate her, not just a few? Does she think it's just a random thing, that there is no basis for it and Sarah just happened to have her name drawn out of a hat, that's how people choose who they hate and who they love? There is no way I could sum up the reasons that I really don't like Sarah, but if her mom wants to spend some time reading this blog, that would probably give her a good idea.

Within a week or two of Sarah being presented to the United States, in 2008, as next possible president if something should happen to the 72 year old cancer survivor, it was pretty obvious that Sarah was completely unqualified for the job.
Many of us, living cities with more people than the entire state of Alaska, wondered how Sarah could have been elected governor, or even mayor of a small town. By the time she made it to the Katie Couric interview, we knew that Sarah didn't read anything, had very thin skin and could be very defensive about her lack of qualifications. Even when tutored, she couldn't pass the test (interview).
Sarah was sent out as the attack dog to say mean things about Obama. She is still working that act. She does not offer anything positive; she is a name caller and a heckler. She is petty enough to attack a school teacher in Homer who was expressing her first amendment rights. Sarah uses mean, bullying tactics.
To cover up for her total lack of qualifications, Sarah has created a fake persona. She has been faking her way through life. We are always glad to cheer for the guy who hits a home run, or the guy who grabs the football and makes a spectacular 90 yard run to the end zone. We appreciate talent and hard work. Sarah has attracted lots of attention and money without having any talent, and without doing the hard work. Fool me once, shame on me. As George W. Bush said, "You can't fool me again." Sarah's act is wearing thin. There is no substance. She is an immature girl who is unqualified to be playing in the big leagues. Looking at that "enemies list" it reads like a group of people who have made a public attack on Sarah, showing her for the fraud that she is.
If Sarah looked like Susan Boyle, she would never have made it out of Alaska. At least when Susan Boyle opens her mouth, we heard a beautiful voice. Sarah works hard on the packaging, but there is absolutely nothing inside. Everything she does is an attempt to hide that fact, maybe even from herself.
Every night when I watch intelligent people who have spent their lives learning and investigating issues and giving thoughtful dialog about their views, I feel proud of those people, who will may not be heard on national TV again but I have so much more respect for than a nitwit that has been given undeserved national attention for years now and then bashes intellectuals as being elite, some of whom live hand-to-mouth because of the commitments that they have made for causes greater than their own. That's why I hate her.

The one thing that bothered me was when they would dress up their animal mounts (ever been to the "Totem In" in Valdez?)

Under the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA) collecting marine mammal parts must be permited.
ReplyDeleteIf you wish to pick up a whale bone on the beach, after 1972 you must get the bone permited for possession. Actually, you never own the bone, the bone is owned by FWS (sea otter, polar bear and Walrus) or NMFS (whale, seal)and the permit is to let the jurisdictional agency know you have this. This is a USA law and one reason is so that people don't either kill for the parts of marine mammals.
Alaska Native subsistence is allowed. In other words hunting of marine mammals is still traditionally allowed.
So the question is: does Chuckie even bother to get his found marine mammal parts permitted for possession?
And just because you have a Alaska Native in the family, doesn't mean your white father in law can take parts and pieces of marine mammal bone.
The laws surrounding the salvage of marine mammal bones is highly regulated, because capitolistic USA citizens will, given the opportunity, destroy the opportunity to salvage bones on the beach.
Sometimes people don't think it is fair that Alaska Natives get to hunt and use the parts and pieces of marine mammals and other people don't, but this law does stop the trophy hunters from exployting the marine mammal population.
So Chuck Heath, get your salvaged marine mammal parts permited. Whale and seal bones get permited thru NMFS and walrus, polar bear, sea otter get permitted thru FWS.
And remember Heaths, this is salvaged or found parts and pieces, which is different than a handicraft made out of marine mammal parts by a Alaska Native.

Or maybe she knew he would annihilate her. He sort of emits this "I don't suffer fools under any circumstances" aura. Rush and the rest are happy to use Palin even if she is a fool (tool?), so they ignore her idiocy. Jesse would take that big bear paw hand and knock her upside the head (figuratively, of course.)

The Heaths are OK. They are parents who love and defend their adult child no matter what. They are old enough to be forgiven for rambling or confused stories. Chuck isn't the only hunter with a house full of "trophies." Unlike their daughter, they don't claim to be ready for prime time.

Why should those people, their friends and colleagues not hate the the person who turned on them? And why should the rest of us not see Sarah as the user and abuser that she has repeatedly show herself to be.
One more point. Why is Sarah obsessed about the self created imaged of her daughter’s rapes?
Yes, Chuck's home is not unique. also, people still flock to it as much as they did back in the day when his kids were young. It was definitely the cool house to go to after school.

ReplyDeletethat interviewer really treated sarah with kid gloves when she spoke with her one=on-one, till she asked her if it hurt her that whether or not she is intelligent enough to run for president is in question - sarah got really offended by that question and as usual played the victim of the media. we know her so well by now, we could have answered for her and come up with about the same garbled gunk!
ReplyDeletei thought the interview was fairer than most with her, showing some of her contradictions and polarization, but the interviewer didn't seem to have done all of her homework. i would have loved it if she responded to sarah's complaint about the question of trig's birth with another question - why don't you produce his birth cert and put all the rumors to rest, sarah? sarah would have sprinted away, waving and screeching at no one.
it seemed to me that when asked about sarah's politics and involvement in the family, there was some tension in sally's voice, as if sarah is uncontrollable and it wears her out. i don't know how to read chuck - he seems a bit odd (ya think?!?). though i do love the way he lets things slip once in a while and complicates even further sarah's tangled web of deceptions. overall it was not a revealing interview for us, but maybe for brits, and for others who don't follow sarah very closely. and overall iw ouldn't say it was flattering.

If you watch as the camera moves to allow Chuck to speak and Sarah's mom is just sitting in profile, it seems as if she is trying very hard not to allow her head to shake. Her speech seems impeded in some way as well. I've wondered why she hasn't been more prominent. Perhaps a degenerative illness would explain her reticence in speaking in support of her daughter.
2. Someone please reassure me that the majority of people in Alaska are not like the conservative club in that restaurant. What a group of intellectual midgets they seemed to be -- Fox News fans all.
2. Why is it we rarely see Native People when news crews talk to folks in Alaska? It seems it is always descendants of white immigrants or recent immigrants. Are there really so few Natives or are they simply marginalized?

Not because she likes or was defending McCain, but because she was his running mate and feels David Letterman's influence lost the vote for McCain and by association for Sarah. When Sally asks why people hate Sarah so much, I'd like to make an analogy. Pretend that we are all back in grade school, and the teacher has just handed back everyone's tests. Some kids get B's and C's, a few smart kids earn A's (they spent all night studying), and there are always a couple of kids who either can't learn anything or didn't study. Yet, in that group, there's this one girl with lots of personality, and she decorated her test paper with curly ribbons and smiley faces. Although she didn't study and answer any questions correctly, the teacher still gave her a very high grade. The smiling girl beams while the rest of the students see an injustice. The message is clear. Why bother to study when smiley faces and a couple of wink winks get the same grade, even better. If we see that same pattern of behavior in an adult, we don't like it.
ReplyDeleteSarah was unqualified to have been nominated for Vice President. She couldn't learn anything (or wouldn't) despite having some of the best political coaches that money could buy. She was a diva, and she ran on her personality instead of any real abilities. Later, when the going got rough in her term as governor, she quit to take easy money rather than tackle the problems and show real leadership.
To put it on really basic terms, we don't like a fraud. We don't like it when one guy sits in the back of the office drinking coffee and cracking jobs and still collects the same pay check as the people who are working hard every day. We didn't like it when an untalented girl kept winning on Dancing with the Stars because Sarah's fans bragged about gaming the system and voting for Bristol more times than were allowed. Sarah wants to run for president as the first celebrity candidate instead of doing the hard word of fund raising, organizing, speaking, learning, studying and working hard. My guess is that there are some Republicans that don't care for that kind of campaign, either. Sarah is started to wear thin, which is funny, considering what thin skin she has.

People don't like mean people. It's not necessary to be mean to get a point across. But it seems that all she ever does when she's not in her protective bubble is scowl and say contentious things. For all the fuss about it, she does seem to crave attention and special treatment, though. And she has the bad combination of ambitious aspirations and ignorance. In the end, the #1 reason Sarah will never be president (and there are plenty of reasons but this is the clincher), is that she quit her job as governor.
