Titled Deer in the Headlights: My Life in Sarah Palin's Crosshairs, the memoir is slated for a fall release under Touchstone Publishing.
"He's ready to give an inside glimpse to his relationship with the Palins, share his trials and tribulations of being thrust into the spotlight and becoming a father at such a young age," the source tells Us.
I did my level best to help Levi to write a book back in 2009, when it really mattered. After all of this time I can only imagine that he has become frustrated at how many people are about to make serious money for their books on Palin, while all he has done is stand on the sidelines trying to shop that ridiculous reality show of his. So now he has decided to join the crowd.
The problem is that NOW there is a crowd. If Levi's book had come out in the beginning of 2010, as was planed, he would have been all alone in that market and would have sold a ton of books.
I am not sure what, if anything, Levi will have to add after the books by McGinniss, Bailey, and Dunn have come out, but if all he wants to divulge is how like a "fish out of water" he felt standing on stage in front of millions of people in uncomfortable clothes, I doubt too many people will waste the $24.99 to read it.
Levi DOES have some scandalous information at his disposal. The only question is does he have the guts to reveal it?

I would buy his book over Brisdull's any day...if only just to beat hers in sales and piss Sarah off. If Levi has damaging information it may be too little too late if the Bailey, Dunn, and McGinnis books are as explosive as they promise to be.

If he's doing this, however, because someone in the Palin camp is paying him off to lie for them to throw off the scent of the "Trig Truthers", he'd probably have a payday of a million or so, but not NEARLY as much as he would if he'll spill all the beans. ReplyDeleteI don't expect much from Levi and even if he did tell the whole story he's discredited himself so much by retracting statements he made in magazine articles and posing in Playgirl that he won't have the impact he would have back then. Why shouldn't he give it a try? The RNC, Palin, and McCain all used him. I wish he would have done it sooner, though. I guess he is a naive young man who was slow to wake up to the exploitation.

If he doesn't make much money with a book coming out this year - due to competing titles (Palin) - The important thing to consider is- now his stories will have more credibility because of the investigative writings of acclaimed award-winning authors. IMO

And we are by no means out of those woods yet. I have no doubt that she is currently preparing for a Fall Offensive that she thinks will carry her into next year’s primaries on a wave of fresh momentum. Given the weakness of the GOP field (Donald Trump?!!) , she could still become the Republican candidate.
The campaign that would follow that calamity would tear this country apart as maybe nothing has done since the Civil War.

ReplyDeleteAfter all, once the world knows that Trig isn't Sarah's child (and it sounds as if Joe McGinniss has someone vital willing to go on record with the truth), then Levi's book becomes relevant and valuable IF he provides the details. If he's not willing to go there, then his book will tank because who needs another book by one of Sarah's enablers?
I suspect Sarah has the kid by the short and curlies, either because of his mom, or because of something he signed, or because she's worked a guilt trip on him convincing him it's for Trig's own good. Levi needs a good lawyer.

Didn't he recant some things previously said about Sarah? That will hurt his credibility unless he can explain why he did so. Palin will capitalize on it, though.
Being a skeptic, I wonder if he's not being paid by the Palins to throw off the books by Dunn & McGinnis. I don't doubt the Palins play on Levi's emotions regarding his son. Which just goes to show there's another baby used as a Palin prop toward her riches.

It's too bad he missed out on the scoop and the $$$ that goes with that, but I still think people will want to hear what he has to say, especially if the book is done well.

when levi had the chance to tell the truth he lied. He almost slipped on Larry King though - during the interview he started to give brisdulls age when pregnant as 16 but quickly corrected himself. He also made statements that palin WAS pregnant with trig so he's got no credibility even if he now comes out and says it was his baby. And if he tells us that, it doesn't make him out to be much of a man - even giving him the free pass due to age - if Trig belongs to him, he's a loser for allowing it.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Levi is dumb. I think he comes off dumb and quiet because he had to hold back much of the information he knows. Remember the Larry King interview? It's like talking to someone with a secret. Because they are withholding such a huge part of the story, they can appear boring or not too bright. I bet if Tank and Rex FINALLY let him spill the beans, he would have a lot of interesting things to say. He lived with the Palins. You can hide a lot from the public, but you cannot hide who you really are from your family, or in this case, a roommate.

I wish he had written the book when G suggested he do so. Timing is everything, there is no doubt.
His book would be far more successful than that of Bristol.

I do believe that Tank and Rex would help swing a deal with Sarah to do just that. After all, their advice thus far has simply succeeded in making Levi look like a simpleton while playing into Sarah's plans.
Imagine her "surprise" and "delight" if the wayward boy comes to support her after all.

ReplyDeleteSounds like Levi is finally breaking free from the climate of fear that surrounds the Palins. I think y'all are being too hard on him. He was plucked from obscurity against his will and paraded upon the RNC stage at age 18. He was more focused on sports and the outdoors than on school and suddenly he's famous for knocking up the VP candidate's daughter. It's hard enough to have a relationship breakup at that age, but to have one shatter so publicly in the tabloids is quite another matter. Throughout it all, he never said an unkind word about Bristol.
ReplyDeleteAdults in Alaska have been afraid of talking about the half-governor, so why should Levi be so resented for not being more forthcoming about her. After all, it was through an interview with him that we learned about her pajamas in every color from Walmart, her predilection for crunchwrap supremes, her hobby of watching wedding TV shows, and that she and Todd didn't sleep together.
My guess is that Levi actually loved Bristol and wanted to have a life with her, even knowing what a wicked witch her mother is. He was led on at the point where he and Bristol briefly reunited (probably because she was looking for a daddy-beard for yet another pregnancy--learned well from Mommy, didn't you, Bristol?)
And through all of this, he unfortunately placed his trust in two individuals who he thought were on his side, but ultimately only delivered a few TV appearances, his Playgirl exposure, and the pistachio ad.
Those of you who say he should man up or grow a pair, ask yourself what you would have done at his age in his circumstances. After all, there are people in Wasilla who won't expose Palin's lies out of fear for their lives.
If Levi comes out and tells the whole truth - including what happened behind the scenes that forced him to take back what her originally said about the Palins, then he will earn his credibility back. As I recall, he said they made him do it to marry Brisdull. God, you dodged a bullet with that one, Levi. She will have to go through life knowing YOU rejected her. It's so clear given the bitterness she still harbors. That's why I think Bristol goes crazy when it comes to him and why it appears to me that he really could care less.

We're relatively new to "babygate." We think Trig is probably Sarah Palin's son, especially after Justin Elliot's story last week. But we still have enough doubt that we'd like the question answered once and for all.
One part of the "conspiracy theory" that has never made sense to us, though, is the theory that Trig is actually Bristol Palin's son (The timing with respect to Bristol's other pregnancy seems suspect.)
A reader floated another intriguing theory, and we'd like to know whether it has already been debunked.
The theory is that Trig Palin is not Bristol's son, but Track's son. Track Palin, you'll recall, is Sarah Palin's older son, who is in the military in Iraq. The theory is that Trig is Track's son via Track's former girlfriend, Britta Hanson, who reportedly graduated from Wasilla High School in 2007.
The reader doesn't have much to back up this theory--other than a story about a photograph that apparently appeared on a Facebook page and then disappeared, as well as the following about Britta Hanson:
1. She got a job as a page in the state capitol building in Juneau - supposedly she lived at the Gov.'s mansion with the Palins.
2. She was appointed as a commissioner for "Serve Alaska."
3. She reportedly "spent a semester" in Spain.
4. She was hired to travel with the Palins during the campaign as a babysitter for Trig.
So has this theory already been debunked?

ReplyDeleteDuring the election I first heard this story in November of 2008, after John McCain picked her as his running mate at the end of August. I personally believed that the story should be filed under soap operas, fairy tales and Obama's birth certificate. I quite frankly dismissed it. Later I saw a picture posted of Sarah Palin that was dated April 13th, 2008 where she was talking to a reporter from Alaska Daily News where she looked very pregnant and I thought, 'Well, there you go, there was nothing to that rumour' and I didn't think anymore about it. I never clicked on any links that mentioned it because I didn't believe the 'rumour'. Also, Bristole Palin, her oldest daughter that the 'rumour' had suggested was the real mother, was announced by Govener Palin to be pregnant. Again, I didn't think too much about it because I was so focused on the political issues that were at hand.
My first real red flag happened when her medical records were not released to the public until just a few hours before election day. Then, ... there were no medical records. There were only two pages from her doctor, and one of those pages just had the doctor giving a synopes of her own bio, the other page said basically that Sarah Palin was in good health, had five pregnancies and she didn't have anything wrong with her that would keep her from being Vice President. It did note that her last pregnancy was at 35 weeks gestation. I then thought, 'Are they kidding? They withheld the so-called medical report until the last minute and then put this out?' That is when I first started believing that something was wrong.

I am sure this coming of age book will be a bit more different than most. And, yes, Levi does look so wholesome in that pic! I am rooting for him. I think he and Tripp are the saddest components of the Palin drama.

ReplyDeleteI'd never heard that claim of someone posting a picture of a Downs baby with Palin as grandmother until last week or whenever some one commented.
Britta was in Spain by mid-Feb. 2008. Trig would have had to be born before that, and probably due before that so she could plan to make the trip.
I can't see anyone posting with Sarah as grandmother if they had any idea that she, a familiar face as Governor, was going to claim to be the baby's birth mother.
It's unlikely that commenter could tell a newborn was Downs from a picture.
So I think the commenter is mistaken or is misdirecting us.
Someone recently said Track was living in Arizona with his girlfriend and baby. If someone could confirm Track, Britta, and Trig are living together in Arizona, that would be different.

Those of you giving Levi a hard time, ridiculing him, are idiots yourselves. What high school kid would have known how to handle what happened to him? What high school kid would have the savvy to choose among the many deals and strategically plan the best way to go about it and to know what lawyer was good or bad. Not a one. Not even a valedictorian. All of this know how takes years of life experience at at, what, 17 or 18, when he was thrust into this and forced into the limelight, he certainly had none. So he can't be faulted AT ALL for anything he did. And he clearly was respectful of Bristol (which he shouldn't have been, she was trash and didn't deserve it), but still he behaved honroably and did the best he could, obviously, under the circumstances. Most adults wouldn't have know what to do. And couple that with the probable threats by the Palins and the manipulations of him against his son/s....of course the KID is going to be confused and maybe make a few dumb decisions. i ask anyone out there to visit your old 17 year old self and ask if you could have done better. Crapshoot, maybe a few choies, but certainly not knowing how to handle the whole situation. How many ADULTS get screwed by lawyers and business types and con members among their friends and family? LOTS...so to fault and criticize a teen kid who was from a small town in Alaska and his job experience was outdoor stuff...c'mom people! Get a grip. The books that are coming out shortly will be more credible than what Jethro (Levi) writes.
So I guess running for mayor didn't work out? Turns out Wasilla has decided that they want their public officials to at least have a high school diploma. Seems to me that would prove helpful for someone writing a book as well. I don't see at this point what he has to sell, frankly. Palin is still holding his son(s) for ransom, and if he tells all, he will never see them.

As for timing re: Bristol, I think there are enough questions about that period that it doesn't exclude the possibility of her being the mother, either. Sarah thought she silenced the questions by revealing to the world that Bristol was pregnant (with Tripp), but we aren't 100% positive when he was born!
These people are very clever about hiding out for 2-3 month windows in order to cover things up. Very, very clever. (I didn't say intelligent, and I didn't say well-educated.)

I couldn't have said it better myself.
It's amazing how hard people are on this kid. How would any of us been able to fare, while in high school in a small little town, under the massive overnight scrutiny, the Palin machinery trained head on, the sick and twisted Sarah and her minions, the strong arming of Todd, the bully, the lack of funds, the first time parent, the bitchy Bristol...I mean it's amazing he's still standing. All of that ALL AT ONCE! I give him HUGE credit for withstanding that tsunami of spotlight glare that hit him with no preparation whatsoever.
And yes, fame and recognition is a powerful drug, especially when you've lived in a small town all your life, not really imagining much of a future. So he did what he felt he could do. He got a taste of something else, celebrity, and he wanted more. I say more power to him if he wants to explore what is outside of that Wasilla mentality. (Well, at least some factions of Wasilla.)
It's so easy to stand on the sidelines and throw shit. Take a walk in his shoes for a moment, it has been a daunting experience, by any measure, and from the look on his face in that picture, he's held up well.
I will absolutely buy his book, minimally as a show of support. Until the book arrives, there is no way to no what 'voice' will be heard, but I do hope that it's Levi's.

My suspicions: Levi's handlers were working for Palin all along. Why else would they have tried so hard to destroy any chance he ever had of either telling the real story or making money doing anything that didn't make him a laughingstock?
ReplyDeleteMy fear: They're still at it and Levi's "tell-all" will seek to vindicate Sarah on Babygate. Levi's book is Sarah's bought-and-paid-for counterweight to the ones that will tell the truth.
I guess the time of release of this book is after is mother's 'sentence' is concluded. I seriously think that was part of the reason Levi was unable to do much as he was not prepared to put his mother's sentence in jeopardy. We all know, Palin still pulls strings in that state. I wish many of the citizens would grow a set of balls because in numbers she can't fucking do a thing to them. It would be there doing taking her down and putting her in jail but it seems many are afraid of their own shadows.

Wow, Levi sure learned some large words in his time out of the spotlight. I dare say, I would have bet major dollars that the word "perplexing" would not have issued forth from Levi's mouth unless someone put it there for him.

Actually, Sarah is nothing but the canary in the coal mine. The threat to democracy comes from an unfree, corporatized media under which a circus like Sarah Palin can occur. She' poison, sure, but in any reasonably healthy society, she would simply never gain publicity.
If Levi has dirt on Palin, NOW is the time to dish it. If he wants to make money off of what he knows, he doesn't really have the luxury of time on his side. Once the proverbial shit hits the fan, people will quickly tire of all things Palin.

Problem is even as dense as Levi is he realizes that "lots of guys barely dated Bristol". She wasn't exactly a hard catch. He might actually be questioning which of the crew of sex partners Tripp belongs to. From their MySpace pages it's evident that there was a whole lot of drunken screwing around going on. Levi got on the hook for $1700 per month for a baby that could belong to anyone of his 10 closest party buddies. That leads to some questioning on his part. The worst thing he did was to "date" the school slut. That never works out well for potential baby daddies. Slut just picks one and puts him on the hook for child support and Levi was a willing participant. Age old problem, especially her in the Valley with our "slightly educated" but intensely horny teen population.
Sorry Gryph, sounds watered down to me. Levi ain't got nothing to tell it seems, or if he has, he aint' tellin' it in this book. Notice how the description says "lighthearted." "funny," "with a touch of "irony." They never say anything about bombshell revelations. Nope, no bombshells there. I was in Levi's corner, but now I think he is just a tease and I will not spend a dime on his story unless he has something worthwhile to say. I don't need to know about his life, and what it was like being a part of the campaign. We already know that. We want to know the TRUTH.

ReplyDeleteRead the update again, Levi's book is going to be about LEVI's life, not so much about Palin. I think he got this deal by Palin to help ease some of the mud that's coming her way. I don't believe for a minute that he will dish dirt or truth. He is a coward. And no, I am not a bot. I thing we expect too much for this unschooled, young man who probably fears the Palins, but will be glad to help her out for money. I really believe that. So I won't get my hopes up at all over this. Levi disappoints. He has never told, he never will tell on the Palins. He's a kid, and he is afraid if Sarah. He won't tell.

ReplyDeleteyeah, okay. Someone needs to be shot for that statement. Bristol is a girl who enjoys her fun and hangin with friends babies. Levi is a boy who enjoys drinking and working on his truck. From what I hear, Levi didn't 'laugh much when dating Bristol, nor was he too happy. In May 08, He was rather pissed at the world for something.
Really @ 7:21pm, Levi is "stereotypical gay". If there's one thing I've gotten from the whole saga it's probably that Levi is not gay. I know lots of gay men that were disappointed that his photo shoot in Playgirl didn't go full monty, but Levi gay. Not so much. Why would it even matter though, why bring it up? Why at all say that Levi looks gay to you? Got a problem with gay people in general? If so, you should move right along and not sully this blog with your presence any longer.

In all honesty, none of us is going to have to spend a dime on any of these books, Bailey, Dunn, Bristol, McGinness or Levi as all will be told thru the webs and we'll be saved a bunch of money just reading the good parts on the blogs. Much like we did with the Palin books. I for one can't wait to read all of the bloggers' synopses of all of the these books that are going to come out this year.

Haven't read all the comments yet but my gut feeling is he will not reveal ANYTHING against the Palins. This will be all about him. He could have done this long ago and he didn't. It will be a fluff piece and nothing more. He is cashing in on the cow that is Palin.

ReplyDeleteI think though, that Levi had his chance to write a book much earlier than this, and declined for reasons we don't know. My opinion on that is he either never really left the umbrella of Sarah and Todd, or was scared off. Because believe me, that book would have been a goldmine. Levi was the outsider who was an "insider." He was a wildcard. So much so, that Bristol, who really couldn't stomach Levi, actually tried AGAIN to reel him in the clan, by promising to marry him. Levi didn't bite on that.
This book is likely a half-hearted effort to make a few bucks on his situation, especially since it's described as "funny" and heartwarming and stuff. There won't be any expose. But there might be a few clues, worth reading. I'm a bit curious, myself.
While I think Levi was an idiot, and still is, I can't fault him too much because frankly, he was just a high school kid from a small town who knocked up a girl and got dragged into a mess. If Sarah wasn't picked for VP, they wouldn't have bothered with Levi, which would have been better for him because he would have had fairer child support payments, if any at all.

ReplyDeleteIt would not be difficult to adopt a folksy, young person tone and attempt to give the impression that one is from Bristol's inner circle or is someone who has access to that circle. I would think the paid trolls have at least figured out that tactic by now!

Levi's book should be a good read. He's taken the flack for his dad for 3 years now. It's about time he revealed who Triggybear really is and 'fesses up to the real paternity of the babies.

The only thing that will make these books big sellers and money makers is if there is something big inside them. Otherwise, they are going to face the same Sarah Fatigue that Sarah's last book came across. It doesn't sound like Levi's book is going to produce anything marketable. The only way for Bristol's book to really bring in any income beyond a small, select audience is if she has something "unexpected" in it, a surprise. If DWTS is any indication, there could be just the thing to make that happen. Certainly, if nothing else, the Palin family is capable of coming up with things you just can't believe.

ReplyDeleteI'll give him a chance to tell how it felt to be used by the Palin family, and the McCain campaign. We all know he was used as a prop, he just didn't know it at the time and I'm sure it took a while afterward to figure it out.
Remember when we all speculated about this "marriage" and "pregnancy", we said, she'll somehow loose the baby, or if they lose the campaign, they'll be dumping Levi.
If they won, they'd have a BIG fricking White House wedding. And you don't believe Levi when he said she was watching Wedding shows? I do.
I also believe him when he said she was profoundly depressed after the campaign, and that she hated her job and wanted to cash in on all the money she was being offered.
I believe Levi when he said the fought, Sarah throwing cans and they yelled about divorce. I believe him when he said Bristol thought he was having an affair, because he was with Shailey. And that he wanted a separate checking account.
I believe all that happened. Everything changed from fairy land thinking during the campaign to hell afterward.
Levi was eventually booted out.
Then Sarah decided to say F U to the job and make big bucks and it was going to take all of them, except Levi, to fake the show and bring in the money.
You guys need to lighten up on bashing him. He's been used and abused by selfish grifting cons.
I hope he tells it like it was, all of it, from living with them, all through the campaign and the awful sordid afterwards.
I imagine Todd was a total jerk. McCain having hissy fits. How the campaign micromanaged them, the computer disk destroyed.
Yeah, I think Levi has things to share that will be worth reading now that he's finally gotten more of the big picture.
He just wasn't ready earlier, emotionally or mentally, you can't do something like that when you're in the middle of a life crisis and trying to figure out what the hell just happened to a year of your life.

It will be interesting to see the new "postpartum" Bristol on Dancing with The Stars this evening. Funnily enough, she was not present at the premier of Dancing this season. She was the only "star" not in the audience during the first show. Guess she's just now able to meet the adoring public on the boob tube after hiding out in AZ for the last few months of her gestation and delivery. Bet she's A LOT skinnier tonite that she was in the final week of last season DWTS. Whilst dancing her ass off just made her fatter, relaxing at home really took the pounds off! LOL, liar just like Mommy.
