Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

President Obama hits it out of the park in front of Facebook town hall, while Paul Ryan gets mauled by his own team during HIS town hall.
What? The President answering Intelligent questions with no flag waving, drooling baggers talking about their gun rights being taken away and their grandchildren put in socialist summer camps?
A rest from the GOP insanity.
Of course then there is Ryan trying to persuade poor people to get poorer and let the rich sop up more gravy. What a despicable man he is.
Good. I want people to start calling Paul Ryan's plan for what it is: a repeal of Medicare that will make health care unaffordable for seniors right when they need it the most.
And I want people to start calling out Palin as a heartless witch who supports this. It IS a repeal of Medicare, not a "reforming" of the system.
And to think Palin said that "there's hope!" with Paul Ryan's plan to repeal Medicare. Hope for whom? Not anyone that doesn't get free health care for being two percent native Alaskan!
Paul Ryan and the rightwing have a depressingly hopeless vision for this country, which is perfectly summed up in a recent post at Daily Kos titled "No We Can't." Excerpt:
"The notion that other free countries can do hosts of things that America, as blanket presumption, can no longer do should be the stuff of nightmares for any believer in American exceptionalism. Today believers in American exceptionalism seem to believe America is exceptional in the inverse way: America is the only country that cannot succeed at what other nations might be able to do."
I just wonder how long it will take middle class Republicans to figure out that their sorry party doesn't have their best interests at heart - and that the Democrats do.
Wisconsites have to be weary of the right wing insanity of people like their pitiful excuse for a governor, Scott Walker; the bilk-the-poor-for-the-rich Rep. Paul Ryan; and their toxic cheerleader Sarah Palin. It did me a world of good to see Paul Ryan get booed by an audience which also included conservatives. That tells me they weren't buying what he was trying to sell them.
On the other hand, our president spelled reality out, saying we can't afford to cut critical things like health and education. He was right on target when he called Paul Ryan's budget short-sighted. But then, that's the modern GOP for you--focused on short-term political gain at the expense of long-term solutions.
@1:16 - you state this as fact. Do you know this? or are you speculating? If this turns out to be true, I'm going to regret supporting babygate. if SP hadn't told so many lies, about BG & a lot of other stuff, perhaps it should all stay quiet.
I do see a difference between Trig Truthers and those who want Obama's "real" birth certificate from a reporting standpoint. (and yes, I realize Obama HAS proivded solid evidence or his brith, and SP has not). The other difference is that Obama's birth certificate involves an adult. Trig's Truth involves an innocent child.
On the other hand, someone who thinks they can fake a pregnancy (and makes up a wild ride story as part of the plan) may not be approrpiate for international negotiations and commander in chief of an army.
I love it, I love it. I love the analysis of it, especially pointing out the difference between President Obamas's town hall and Ryan's. And I especially love the bottom line analogy that President Obama is at his best talking as an adult to other informed adults. Hallelujah! What more could we (us liberals anyway) want in this country? That puts us in the very best position to talk to the leaders and the movers and shakers if you will in other countries! That is where our power is: educated, informed, thinking people! Love it. Thanks for posting Gryphen!
On a personal note, like Barack Obama, my family were at one time on "commodities" (I think this was before food stamps); I was old enough to be embarassed by it, but we needed food; I could have gone to college on scholarships but there was no one (no one else in my family had ever been to college) to inform me and help me apply for them; but one word from a concerned teacher and some caring from a church member put me in touch with the administration of our local university and a "student aid" package was put together enabling me to go to the university; my husband got both his undergraduate and his master's degrees because of the GI Bill. I now have (due to drugs and other unfortunate circumstances) have two godsons who are both on disability (though neither has worked very much in their lives) and I only resent it sometimes (not for them) but for the parents of these two young men because they vote Republican! They vote Republican largely because of their very conservative religious views on abortion, and they don't see anything but that! So, I guess because they adopted both of these children, they are heros and yet let those of us who vote Democrat and keep the social programs alive support these children now that they cannot work and need income.
Link to real property records showing Keith E. Johnston and Sherry Johnston co-owning property in MatSu and Keith owning other property rights (such as mineral rights).
Our president did a great job again. We are truly blessed to have such an intelligent, decent man as president during this economic crisis. As for Ryan and the rest of the baggers/GOP they have wanted to get rid of medicare and SS since it's inception. Truly that would be a DEATH PANEL for millions of senoirs. How people can vote GOP/Bagger is beyond me.
Well, now I'm all intrigued....and neither of the first 3 links work for me. First says "Bad Request", the other two take me to Dept. of Justice search page.
Paul Ryan, recipient of Social Security benefits after the tragic passing of his father, wants to pull up the ladder for everyone else now that he's made it back onto the boat.
He is the very opposite of the people he shows such disdain: liberals who had the generosity of heart, vision, and ability to help future generations, not just themselves.
A sizable percentage of the tea partiers are seniors. Lately there has been a growing realization I think that perhaps one of the goals of the tea party is to seriously tinker with Medicare(e.g. Paul Ryan) or even with social security in the near future. This, incidentally, might partially explain the declining attendance at tea party rallies because by showing up some of these people may feel that they are targeting themselves.
So much for all those Tea Bagger comments that "President Obama is trying to destroy Medicare and Social Security" or "President Obama is trying to destroy this country." There are so many people here on the Kenai Peninsula who believe most of the problems their own Tea Party, far right wing legislators are causing are Barack Obama's fault. I'm always saying, "No, that was the Republicans who did that" or "Where were you the last two decades when this was happening?"This is why as mad as he has made me we can't let a GOP candidate in the White House because if we do THEY will destroy this country.
The New York Times Magazine has an article, which is an excerpt from a book about President Obama's mother.
She taught her son well. This excerpt from the article shows where he gets his quiet strength of character. It's very long but well worth reading.
"After lunch, the group took a walk, with Barry running ahead. A flock of Indonesian children began lobbing rocks in his direction. They ducked behind a wall and shouted racial epithets. He seemed unfazed, dancing around as though playing dodge ball “with unseen players,” Bryant said. Ann did not react. Assuming she must not have understood the words, Bryant offered to intervene. “No, he’s O.K.,” Ann said. “He’s used to it.”
“We were floored that she’d bring a half-black child to Indonesia, knowing the disrespect they have for blacks,” Bryant said. At the same time, she admired Ann for teaching her boy to be fearless. A child in Indonesia needed to be raised that way — for self-preservation, Bryant decided. Ann also seemed to be teaching Barry respect. He had all the politeness that Indonesian children displayed toward their parents. He seemed to be learning Indonesian ways."

President Obama is a very decent man, he puts up with so much shit daily and still shines brightly and smells like a rose.
ReplyDeleteHe is good for this country and a shining example of leadership. The Obamas are a great family and a shining beacon for America.

If we let these people lead us, we can kiss America goodbye.
Anon @ 1:16, that was a theory I had wondered about myself. He's such a hidden figure, and Levi is so inexplicably mellow about everything.
ReplyDeleteI have always said Trig resembles Levi the most, but I had wondered if Sherry was the birth mother which would make Levi his brother.
Way back when I thought it could be a case of statutory rape, but then I started thinking Bristol wasn't the mother and let go of it in my mind.
This would explain why Bristol doesn't seem to have much of a relationship with Trig. They never show her with her "brother".
I just wonder how long it will take middle class Republicans to figure out that their sorry party doesn't have their best interests at heart - and that the Democrats do.
