I would like to welcome the author, who is going to blow the lid off babygate, to The Immoral Minority.

As many of you know I VERY rarely allow guest posts here on IM.  However the author of the upcoming book on babygate, and how the media allowed Sarah Palin to get away with it, asked if I would allow him to post here today.

And so I have. I think you will be very pleased with what he has to share with you.

Ladies and gentlemen, let me present Fred (Last name withheld to keep the flying monkeys at bay for the time being.).

I'd like to thank everyone who responded to Gryphen's post about titles. For everyone who is curious about the progress of the project, I can tell you this: the deadline for having the book to the publisher's legal department is July 1, and I'm hoping it will be available within 6 weeks after that. Yes, it will be available in hardback, paperback, and on all the various eBook services (such as Kindle.) The publisher has already hired a professional publicist and the legwork is being done for the media blitz.

Overall, reading your responses carefully, I see that "The Wild Ride" or some variation of it is the clear winner. Believe it or not, that had not been seriously considered before now, simply because I felt that the reference to the book "The Wind in the Willows" (and Mr. Toad's Wild Ride) was obscure and many people wouldn't get it. People who have followed Babygate for years are cognizant of the reference (I'm fairly sure this was originally one of Audrey of Palin Deception's themes), but this book's title has to be clear and catchy to the general public who have never heard of either Babygate or Mr. Toad. Still, at this point, it's clear that that phrase (or some variation of it) will need to get a much closer look. Rest assured, however, if "The Wild Ride" is not in the actual title, that phrase will be used prominently in the book and will probably be the title of a whole subsection.

The starting point of the book is the pregnancy (of course) but I am delving deeply into the media's handling of the controversy, particularly in the critical early days and weeks after she was tapped for the McCain ticket. A title that refers to the media is important. I agree wholeheartedly also that somehow Palin's name needs to be brought into it. The person who commented contrasting the titles "Blind Allegiance" with "The Lies of Sarah Palin" was spot-on.

Trig's name will not be in the title, nor will there be any reference to "daughter's shame" or anything of that nature. This is Sarah Palin's scam, her lie, her deception, in which she was aided and abetted by both an American media system that failed to do its job and a broken political machine. As much as humanly possible, her children will be left out of the story.

The title is very important and there is a lot to accomplish in ten words or less!

As much as we might all enjoy the inside jokes of some of the snarky titles, we can't go there. Still here are some of my very favorites that unfortunately will not be used (though for some of them you don't know how much I wish!):

"Thanks But No Thanks: The Fallopian Tube to Nowhere" (I truly love this.)
"The Lion, The Witch, and the Fake Pregnancy Wardrobe."
"Instatot: How To Have a Six Pound Baby in Six Easy Weeks"
"Spongetrig Squarepillow"
... and too many more to list.

Thanks again for the all the thoughtful replies.

Fred

This can't be flippin' happening! I'm trying to start a fake political campaign here!

What's great about The Wild Ride are all its meanings, figuratively and literally. It's also what I've been on since the day Palin announced Bristol's pregnancy. I pray, Mr. Fred, your book will end The Wild Ride for me. Finally.

Well, this is a nice surprise. Go Fred! I agree, no children in the title, they have been irreparably harmed as it is, which is the saddest part of the whole Palin charade.
Thank, thank you for highlighting the media and their willingness to ignore the fraud. Wouldn't want a scandal as big as this to stop their money train, or bus as the case may be. You have picked an excellent ally in Gryph - his information (and his snark) has kept me sane. Woohoo!

  11. Hi Fred -

I missed the post asking for title suggestions. After reading your post I have to say its great you are considering this carefully but I think you are completely missing the boat. Here's why:

The most important thing about this topic is that it is the biggest election fraud ever perpetuated on the American public in US history. Period.

"Palin's Babygate - America's Greatest Political Hoax" or some version thereof is what needs to be said by talking heads on TV, by people talking to each other, and is what will sell books.

Please reconsider "Sarah Palin's Wild Ride" or similar. That title will get lost in the news cycle and disappear. I promise. It just sounds like another of her regular scandals and people have Palin fatigue already.

With this topic, you are not just dealing with scandal or a failed media. You are dealing with an epic moment in modern HISTORY. Just like 9/11 forever changed us, America and the world will never be quite the same once this level of public fraud is finally unmasked. Don't forget this.

    Thanks and good luck.

Thanks, Fred. Choosing a title is a serious proposition and I urge you to give it a lot of thought, and perhaps a bit of "focus grouping," once you've narrowed it down. We want you to succeed, so you won't find a friendlier audience than here, however, you may want to check it with abstainers and uninformed folks as well. See if the title would draw them in. Anyway, you know the business better than we do, so I'm sure you'll do it right. Here's hoping that you truly have the goods to prove the hoax exists. We need to get this woman out of political discourse as soon as possible, especially with the election coming up. Thanks Gryph for your continuing advocacy of this cause.

"Fred," I echo Helen. I have been against "The WIld Ride" as a book title or meme for a long time. This hoax was a pre-mediated scheme; it is shocking in its audacity and mendacity. "The Wild Ride" sounds like a children's book or something to do at Disneyland. It's dismissable. It's one reason the case has not been cracked or taken seriously by international press. Helen's got it right.

  24. Thank you, Fred. The availability of this book unfortunately can't happen yesterday ... but late summer might be soon enough.

    -----------------

Shall we all participate in a game, guessing what shiny new one/two/three object(s) the Palins will cook up to try to distract from the publication of Fred'ds book?

They've done their darnedest to deflect the effect of Frank Bailey's book:
    1) Bristol & Kyle
    2) the Scottsdale dry-heat-mummification mauseoleum
    3) the shrink-wrapped recycled reality-show RV
    4) the tour/vacation, paid for by her adoring and gullible thousands
    of fans
    5) horning on a true remembrance of our military who've lost their lives with her false claims of being the mother of a "combat vet"

Her façade can't be more obvious to US. I hope all these books strip it away for the heretofore blissfully unaware.

mark me on the side of against "The Wide Ride". I personally prefer "The Reckless Ride" because, if her account is indeed true, she did everything to try to ensure that the pregnancy would end in a tragedy. That "ride" indicates an extreme indifference to common sense.

Fred, my darling PATRIOT Fred...we have been hoping for something like this for years. So many times there has been something seemingly "major" which we have felt would certainly blow the lid off babygate- the "nail in the coffin" photo, Bristol testifying in Tennessee that photos of "her baby" were leaked- months before the birth Tripp-her only acknowledged child, Sarah saying in her book that Trig was born in Palmer but in recorded speech saying he was born in Anchorage, Sarah stating in her book that Trig was born at 35 weeks then saying in a video recorded speech in October 2010 that he was born at "seven and a half" months...and on and on ad nauseam. SO many times, we've had a feeling of absolute certainty, we KNEW this was IT- NOW people will finally see, KNOW the truth.

And then our hopes have been dashed. Again and again.

If you follow through with this, if you put the real truth between the covers of your book...you will rise to the ranks of true American patriot.

I can't thank you enough. You are well on your way to becoming the personal hero of many, many people here.

  48. Anonymous7:20 PM

It's very nice that Fred doesn't want to involve Bristol in his narrative. However, there is the question of Sarah's incentive to go to such extremes as to fake a pregnancy. I wonder if she would fake a pregnancy to adopt any DS child, like the conservative radio hostess did earlier. Even adopting would be a good message for the religious right and the right to life crowd.

There have been other mothers who have covered up the pregnancy of their unwed teen aged daughter, claiming the child as her own. The singer, Bobby Darin, didn't find out that his mother was really his grandmother until he was an adult. He also learned that his older sister was really his mother. It is not an unusual story, and it speaks about motive.

Levi hinted that when he and Bristol were expecting a child, Sarah kept nagging him that she wanted to adopt the child and raise him as her own. She was persistent, asking Levi over and over.

It is my guess that as soon as John McCain was chosen as the GOP nominee, Sarah saw her VP chances rise, and while the premature DS child was recovering in the hospital, she just announced her pregnancy, (meaning that she was taking Trig), whether Bristol and Levi liked it or not. (Levi's statement makes no sense in terms of Tripp. What mother with a DS baby and her eye on the White House would take on another baby? Especially under intense media scrutiny? No, Levi meant Trig).

One part of the media coverage has to also include the way that Daily Kos tried to report this story when Sarah was first chosen to run as VP with McCain. They were forced to take down the post, and it only exists where people were able to save it.

There was also a well orchestrated effort to erase photographs of Palin taken in 2008 that would correspond to a time when she was supposed to be pregnant. Palin was a much photographed governor, with her picture in the Anchorage Daily News on a daily basis, yet their photo archives were wiped as clean as the Johnston Family computers. I smell coverup. In addition to the media not wanting to cover the story, I think that some of the media were badgered and threatened not to cover the story. Audrey and her dedicated readers found alternate websites where the photos had not been scrubbed, which accounts for photos of Sarah well into her "pregnancy" with a perfectly flat abdomen. They also rescued MySpace comments from the Wasilla teens, including Bristol.

There have been other cases of the media being intimidated. For example, there was going to be a truthful depiction of sainted Ronald Reagan which was not allowed to be aired on TV, due to organized efforts by those who cherish his memory.

There are many interesting aspects to Palin's Pregnancy, including comments from Gryphen's readers claiming that Sarah had a tubal ligation and required weeks of recovery (and escaped the car pool). Sarah must have some kind of power to keep Alaska and the media silent. It will be an interesting story. Wishing Fred the best of luck!

I hope that Audrey and Palin's Deceptions will rate a mention in the acknowledgments. If it wasn't for Audrey, this story would have died a long time ago.

  49. "Fred", if there is room in your book for one more thing, please mention that she has done nothing, nothing at all, for Special Needs kids or Groups AND she charges them for her speeches.

I like the suggestion at 6:31pm referring to the Palin myth. Leaves out the somewhat silly "wild ride" and incorporates the complicity of the media in this foul caper.
Just a suggestion, Fred, but I wonder if you might not want to investigate what was going on in Alaska in the weeks leading up to the 2008 GOP convention. I saw a picture on another site today of Bristol at the convention, and the way she looked like she might be wearing the "empathy belly"
I know the GOP wants us to believe $arah was unvetted, but I don't buy it. Someone did some work to get these people ready, hers was to be a big rollout, and fire up the voters. They did not just hop on a plane and go to the convention. What if $arah never had the empathy belly during her "pregnancy", but put it on for the Gusty photo after it was purchased for Bristol to wear to the convention? Just a thought.

Surprised you missed Gryph's request for book titles; the post is still on IM's front page & has over 450 responses!

The "Wild Ride" is just one aspect of Palin's lies & manipulations, so I don't think that it should be the title of the book (included in the sub-title is fine).

    Gonna plug my earlier suggestion:
    Enduring Truth

A slap directly in Palin's face (based on her new SarahPac video that Gryph posted yesterday) & more likely to picked up by mainstream media who won't touch "babygate" with a 10-foot pole. A book title with any pre-judgmental words would surely be squashed by MSM editors before it makes it out the gate.

  60. I wondered if the book would take an Andrew Sullivan/McGinniss Trignostic approach or report that a hoax did, indeed, occur. I believe I've got my answer. I'm stunned, excited, nervous, thrilled!

Sarah's 'wild ride' is so much more than the AK-Dallas-AK trip, encompassing her VP candidacy and everything that has followed. She's THE anti-choice hero, recounting the tale of her 'pregnancy' to paying crowds, calling for an end to women's reproductive freedom. The media is mostly responsible for failing to hold her accountable but I also fault the religious leaders, political operatives, Right to Life groups, and more.

    How about something like:
'Because I say so': Sarah Palin's standard of truth

"The Wild Ride" could be a children's book about the Toad and the Badger, or a biker gang's adventures.

Sarah has spent so much time making working on her "brand" and name recognition that Fred should take advantage of her pre-publicity work. Sarah Palin's name means ratings and book sales, and I like Helen's suggestion, "Sarah Palin's Wild Ride."

There can be a subtitle about how a fake pregnancy launched a political candidate, but it's important to cash in on all of the hard work Sarah did getting people to pay attention to her....for better or for worse.

I also like Sarah Palin's Babygate, a great American political hoax. (Sorry, Helen, I don't know if it's the greatest political hoax, but it must rank up there with the top 3 or 5. In fact, there's a snappy title for another book, Greatest American Political Hoaxes. William Randolph Hearst, "You give me the photographs and I'll give you the war." We never knew that presidents like FDR or JKF had affairs. Yes, there's another book there.)

Hello Fred! It's impossible to overstate how important your project is, or how grateful we all are that someone is taking the time to write and publish an examination of this outrageous moment in our nation's history - as others have pointed out.

I must also agree with others that while I enjoy talking about Sarah's Wild Ride, I do not think it a good phrase for the title of your book. It honestly doesn't have enough gravitas from simply a superficial impression standpoint, and the Wind in the Willows reference may honestly not resonate with many. It's a bit too breezy, too whimsical, given the seriousness of the topic.

One person said something like Inconceivable:...then some words about the press's total abdication of its responsibility in thoroughly vetting Ms. Palin once she was announced. (Obviously if the photo of Andrea Gusty and Palin w/pregnancy prosthesis is right beneath, you will have made your point and the pun would work quite well.) Perhaps you wouldn't include Gusty, but if you did it would drive home the point of a complicit or negligent media.

I understand when people say this is beyond the press issue, but then again if they had done their job - as the Fourth Estate of our democracy - we would not have a crazy woman attempting to run for the highest office in the land, once again. To me the media aspect it absolutely critical. We so desperately need a press that understands its true purpose. With FOX and other MSM, we have lost our way completely in this regard.

Thanks again, and thanks for taking a moment to speak with us. It sounds like this may be a legit deal and one that could finally get the whole topic the attention it deserves. Thrilling to think this might be something the MSM would actually have to cover! (I am sure there are many in that business who know darn well about all of this, but they are all too chicken-@#&! to do anything about it.)

  63. @Anonymous 7:04

Yes I stand by my statement, it is definitely The Biggest Election Hoax in modern history, although Bush's coup in 2000 could be argued to trump it. However, I think it could be argued to be The Biggest Political Hoax EVER. IN HISTORY. (caps for emphasis, as you seemed to wonder if I was serious previously). That is because it was a constant and ongoing lie that encompassed every single thing this candidate said or did, for months. The actual physical presence of the candidate and her son was a lie wherever she went. Also because the GOP party enabled this hoax on many levels. Because it was a historic election with the first conservative woman running for high office. I could go on but I won't at this time.

In fact, I challenge you to find a bigger political hoax in history. If you are a history buff as I am, you will take that as a pleasant challenge and come up with some interesting events. In fact, the biggest political hoaxes in all of history could make an interesting book unto itself. Palin's Babygate would definitely have a place in that book.

Wonderful you are clear about leaving the kids out of it. It would be so easy for her to say it was an attack on her family.

This is about her, her aspirations, and her behavior. Nothing else. She's all alone on this one.

So glad someone is finally coming forward. Long overdue. This better be the bombshell. "Too toxic for the Media: Sarah Palin's Pregnancy Hoax".Why hasn't the mental health groups stepped forward to tell what a fraud and narcissistic she is and how close she came to ruining our country. The religious right have used her to get their foot in that crack in the door she is clawing her way through. This was a set-up from the word go. She loves the money they are showering upon her and she jumps every time they beckon. Find out who "they" are and the puzzle is solved.

    Sarah Palin's Wild Ride

Keep it simple, The Wild Ride and Sarah Palin will become synonymous. Plus it's a short title, so it makes a great movie title, too (Oh yeah, if you've really got the goods on this con job, there will be a movie). The fact that this title has grown within the blogosphere tells you that it has legs, run with it.

Good luck Fred and Gryphen. Please adhere to one rule: be honest.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Anonymous7:45 PM

I appreciate how challenging it is to choose a title for this book, because it must get serious attention.

I don't like "The Wild Ride" for a few reasons, but right now I think it's bad timing; two "serious" journalists have just used that phrase to "debunk" the baby-hoax "rumor".

I think that the unbelieving public is sick of this phrase and now that it has been referred to snarkily by those journalists, it will turn off the people who need to read it.

    Good luck and thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  75. It would be hard to write a book about the wild ride without mentioning one of Sarah's children, Bristol. Perhaps you have uncovered information that proves she is not Trig's mother. At this point in time his mother's origins are up in the air. The only thing that is clear is that SP is not his mother despite what Frank Bailey says in his book. He claims to have seen the evidence despite having had no clue she was pregnant until she told him she was at seven months. He also makes it very clear that he was and still is under her influence and her suggestions about what he should see as the truth certainly controlled his actions. This was and is true of many people. BTW, I don't think people have to know who Mr. Toad is to get what Sarah's Wild Ride is all about. I was so happy to find out about your book and I am dying to find out who you are. This subject is interesting from a psychological standpoint due to the news media relinquishing their responsibility to the truth. It is amazing that so many who even though they see the pictures of a woman who is clearly not pregnant believed she was because people said so. This story demonstrates how easily Americans can be manipulated by propaganda.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Anonymous7:47 PM

Helen, and when you think about the "what if" that could have resulted. What if this woman had become VP to McCain's President? I can't even contemplate it, it makes me shudder with fear. Such an incompetent, such an unstable individual - one heartbeat from leader of the free world....

The fact of the matter is, if the media or some whistleblower had simply held her story up to the light during those few months, in the larger American public arena, I doubt she would have made it to election day. It's astounding.

Think of how many male politician's careers have been destroyed for far less. This woman thought nothing of perpetuating her lie. She must, somewhere deep down beyond all her pathology, have known it was WRONG. You can't be a liar to that degree, and have the privilege of running for the American presidency, in our era at least. Someone will find out, someone will uncover it, and someone will let the public know. Because it's the right thing to do.

(I know, I realize some things never do come to light.)

I am sure the GOP knew full well about the rumors, and perhaps the facts, and yet they assisted her in her cover up. I hope that is an integral part of the Babygate book, as well.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Anonymous8:01 PM

I don't know how to express this, succinctly, in a title, but I feel that the reason that Sarah Palin has - thus far - got away with her hoax is that sane people cannot conceive (he he) of a faked pregnancy. HOW could a sitting Governor FAKE a pregnancy?! No way! It just wouldn't happen. It would be found out.

NO. In reality, we have photos of a flat-stomached Sarah Palin juxtaposed with photos of her with a ballooned out stomach. 5 days passed in between the photos being taken.

So - bizarro world. Obviously fake pregnancy meets oblivious world that won't wake up until MSM presents the info on Dateline NBC or similar. It will equal BIG ratings, MSM. I assume you know this and are just biding your time. You naughty monkeys!

I just hope you delve into the fact that a relatively small regional hospital, an hour's drive from a large urban hospital staffed and equipped to receive high risk deliveries, somehow, apparently, admitted an over 40 mother in premature labor with a predetermined Down Syndrome baby, who just flew over 1000 miles on commercial carriers, in the dead of night, after having driven past a hospital in Anchorage with a NICU.

We all know Sarah is crazy. But hospitals have predetermined protocol and medical standards in an instance such as this.

Either MatSu threw these to the winds, or Trig Palin was never born there at all. Which makes more sense to you?

MatSu needs to be questioned regarding the credentials of the staff on hand, and the decision making process, on April 18. I don't think Trig was born there, on that day, because I don't think MatSu would have allowed such a delivery to take place.

Some hard questions need be posed to MatSu regarding its medical protocol. ADN nor anyone else in the MSM has yet to hold their feet to the fire on this issue. It's a matter of public information, to my mind. Someone should put the squeeze to them and make them choose between Sarah Palin's political and personal reputation, and their own hospital's reputation.

One question still hasn't been answered... does this new book reveal without equivocation that Sarah Palin lied about giving birth to Trig and that she faked the pregnancy?

Or is it jut a rehash of all the existing speculation?

Because if it's the latter and not the former, I don't really see any point to this book. The same media outlets that have been ignoring the story and disallowing discussion of it in their comments sections will go right on ignoring it.

Griffin, can you tell us whether this book blows baby-gate wide open by revealing the truth about it for once and for all?

Or is it only something that, in the end, Sarah Palin will simply be able to embellish her victim cred with even further.

    Plain and simple - "Babygate".

    "Have Gun - Will Travel"

"The adventures of "Paladin", a gentleman gunfighter who preferred to settle problems without violence; yet when forced to fight, excelled.
Paladin lived in the Hotel Carlton in San Francisco, where he dressed in formal attire, ate gourmet food, and attended the opera. In fact, many who met him initially mistook him for a dandy from the East.

The knight symbol refers to his occupation as a champion-for-hire.
Paladin's routine switch from the expensive light-colored suit of his genteel urbane persona in San Francisco to his alter ego who wears all-black attire for quests into the lawless and barren Western frontier is also a chess reference.
He had a thorough knowledge of ancient history and classical literature, and he exhibited a strong passion for legal principles and the rule of law. Paladin was also a world traveler. His exploits had included an 1857 visit to India, where he had won the respect of the natives as a hunter of man-eating tigers.

To pay off a gambling IOU, he had been forced to hunt down and kill a mysterious gunman called Smoke.
Smoke had given the Paladin character his nickname, facetiously calling him "a noble paladin." The question had turned out to be doubly ironic, as Smoke had revealed in his death scene that he had not been a criminal gunfighter, but instead had protected the nearby town from the man who had sent Paladin.
Paladin charged steep fees for his services — typically a thousand dollars a job. His primary weapon was a custom-made .45 caliber Colt Single Action Army revolver.

Paladin's intuitive sense of chesslike strategy—often anticipating moves ahead of his adversary, and backing it up with formidable skills in all areas of personal combat—plus his epicurean tastes and implied lust for women (when relaxing in San Francisco) made him very much a "James Bond" of the old West. Ever a man of refinement, Paladin even carried a few expensive cigars in his boot when out on adventure.
Paladin's great advantage over adversaries was not his impressive equipment, or his ability as a marksman, superior as this was; Paladin's edge was his rich education. He had an infallible ability to relate ancient antecedents to his current situations. When the enemy was surrounding him, Paladin could usually make some insightful quip about General Marcellus and the siege of Syracuse or something similar, and then use this insight to his advantage. Burying a rancher killed by Indians, he recited John Donne's "Death Be Not Proud" above the grave. In other episodes he quoted lengthy Shakespearean passages from memory."

    Fred,
Thanks in advance. I want to say to you that I agree with the post by Helen (6:28 P.M.)

I spent years in top Ad Agencies in Chicago, another lifetime, and we all knew that the best way to get attention and interest was to include the word "YOU" whenever possible. OR, to imply the word 'YOU.'

I am agreeing with Helen, and adding that if there is some way to directly address the American people -if not a title, a subtitle of some sort - something like YOU'VE BEEN PUNKED - BY PALIN'S FAKED PREGNANCY or

"PUNKED BY PALIN - How many Americans believed in Sarah's fake pregnancy?"

Cover art - the title could be superimposed over a large soft photo (smoke and mirrors effect) of the empathy belly. Or the Elan shot of Sarah slapping the square pillow belly with that sly look in her eyes.

Thanks. I'm having fun imagining all the possibilities.

I just hope that there is solid first hand accounts of Palin not being pregnant. I'm talking no "lightened photos" no"blurry photos" but actually human first hand interviewed accounts of this pregnancy being a hoax. If it is same old same old photos and no other new evidence there is no reason to publish a story. If this will not be an actual "nail in the coffin" it is not worth the time for anyone to peruse. There is nothing less that a credible person going on record to put this to bed. Everything else has already been tried to no avail. Good luck Fred, I for one hope you have the good to convince the "believers" that she is a fraud.

I haven't been this sure of another colossal miscalculation by Gryphen since he assured his fans that The Palins were absolutely, positively looking at an imminent divorce.

Or was it when he vowed Levi Johnson had the key to the closet where Palin kept the skeletons that would
    putPalin (politically) away.

For those keeping score at home: Geoffrey Dunne's book never cracked Amazon's "Top 100" and this latest shill--the guy with the devastating e-mails: in less than a week his book slid from #45 to #75.

    "Choosing to Deceive...", huh?

Yeah, that sounds like it's going to cause a stampede at Barnes and Noble.

Let's see, if this guy is right than "Choosing to Deceive" will leapfrog The Cottingley Fairies hoax of 1917, the Alien Autopsy hoax of 1995, The Piltdown Man hoax of 1912, the Feejee mermaid hoax of 1842, The Priory of Scion Hoax of 1956, The Turk Hoax of 1717, The Loch Ness Monster Photo Hoax of 1934, The War of Worlds Hoax of 1938, The Cardiff Giant Hoax of 1869, and the Supper at Emmhaus Hoax of 1937.

Yep! This could be unprecedented--the over-the-top title, that is.

Thank you Fred, and thank you Gryphen! After three years of studying this for hours per day, I'm rejoicing in hopeful and appreciative relief.

I agree that the "Wild Ride" verbiage is far too frivolous for a book of this historical gravity. And the mere fact that Shannon Moore coined the phrase should automatically preclude its use in the title; she and Mudflats' Devon have inexplicably refused to allow discussion of the obvious.

Trying to 'back into' a good title, please consider a few of my thoughts: Without a doubt, the title needs to have the name "Sarah Palin" in it. "Babygate" will be understood by all, hence Helen's idea (@6:28) is excellent, as I purloined below. The word "pregnancy" will probably give males the willies, as we've surely seen, so I would nix that. The word "fake" is too colloquial.

I'm partial to title eyeball- grabbers with gravitas (and Amazon-friendly), as in "Blind Allegiance" (Bailey), "The Lies of Sarah Palin" (Dunn) or "The Rogue" (McGinniss). How about some combination of this:

"BABYGATE - SARAH PALIN'S DELIBERATE DECEPTION"
    Subtitle:
"America's Greatest Political Hoax and Media Failure"

Author Fred, I hope the cadence of your book starts out slooowly...for the eyes of non-believers or incredulous first-time readers of this tale. You have to admit, the concept of a sitting governor (and the GOP machine behind her) actually thinking that they could pull off a hoax of this magnitude on the American political system is patently absurd and vastly dangerous. And of course, as you bring more and more into play, the conclusion is a given.

I agree with those who plead with you to delve into the complicity of the McCain campaign, re the scrubbing of all pertinent photos. This was a huge coverup of Watergate proportions. Thank you for what you're doing, and hopefully you can shine the light on Prof. Scharlott's "spiral of silence". As our media utterly fails us (with monied backing!), we creep ever closer to 1939 Germany.

The way Palin stresses the word "hid" in the clause "I hid it" (around the 8 to 10 second mark) seems to be damning evidence. She seems to be lying right there. She looks away from the camera at that very moment, with a smug, self-satisfied look on her face.

I've had such a fun laugh reading through everyone's title suggestions this morning...I've had to watch myself to not spray coffee on my iPad! I know many of them are offered tongue in cheek if still slightly 'serious', but they are absolutely hilarious!

I have a thought concerning content of the title if not the actual words...perhaps one of you clever cosmos can figure something out.

The theme is sacrifice, or motherly sacrifice. We all know Sarah wants us to leave her chirruns aloooooone!!!!! (and also too please watch their reality shows and buy their magazine covers, kthanx!!!)

In all seriousness, Sarah HAS said she wants to keep her children's lives as "normal" as possible.

Why then did she serve this teenager up on a media frenzied platter right before the RNC in 2008? The McCain campaign released a statement, something akin to "in order to counteract these ridiculous rumors concerning Governor Palin's fifth child Trig, we are announcing that Bristol Palin, eldest daughter of the governor, is five months pregnant and therefore cannot be the mother of four month old Trig".

Of course, NOW we know this statement was crafted by Palin herself despite the McCain staff wanting to take a few hours more crafting a better statement but you know Sarah- she "went rogue" and released her own statement.

Here's the rub: if the campaign and even Sarah herself admit this statement was produced to directly shut down the rumors about Trig being Bristol's biological child...why go to such an extreme, one which harms the child you are supposedly protecting...?

If you really wanted to counteract those rumors AND protect your firstborn daughter...wouldn't you just SHOW the birth certificate for Trig?

    Yes, you would.

Unless...you were simply not ABLE to.

This was when we saw that Sarah would sell out anyone, even her own child.

I would love to see a title reflective of how Palin serves up her children on platters, simply to avoid producing what should be simplest of "proof"- a statement from the hospital, a hospital bracelet from mother & child...a birth certificate...

Even then, the doctors still kept him in NICU for observation for about 5 days. Sarah Palin is a F"""in liar. I am worried. Donald Trump was making a big stink about Pres. Obama's birth cert, and some guy had a book about to come out titled "Wheres the Birth Certificate". So just then Pres. Obama arranges for release of his bc, cutting the legs off Trump and the birthers. So now that SP is making noise about running, and at the same time Babygate is getting more serious press, it would not surprise me if SP produces a bc for Trig, or Dr. J issues a statement, cutting the legs off the Babygate story. Of course, the bc or statement would be ambiguous and not really answer the question, but it would be enuf for the LSM. Good luck.

I'm very interested in the potential tubal ligation story, discussed here a while back. That would be pretty definitive about who was not a mother. My question, which I hope a book like this would address is WHY go to all this trouble? Just because McCain got the nomination, there was no guarantee that SP would be considered as running mate. What are we missing here? There must be so much more that we don't know, but I really want to understand.

@ 9:59 this is not the same as the birther movement.

President Obama provided his birth certificate and the "birthers" wanted to see the long form because they were certain there was some damaging information on the long form that didn't appear on the certificate of live birth issued by the state of Hawaii.

If Sarah Palin is Trig's biological mother why hasn't she released his birth certificate?

Sarah Palin knows about "Babygate" but hasn't done a thing to disprove rumors and debunk "conspiracies."

And please don't give me that she doesn't want to address this issue because she is way above all this crap, that woman is as thin-skinned and defensive as they come.

"...Serve to help Palin," I think not, Sarah Palin did this to herself. I would like to know what woman who has been in labor and has had contractions will drive to the airport instead of driving to the nearest hospital endangering her life or that of her unborn child?!?

Bottom line, either she lied about the "Wild Ride" and she's Trig's biological mother or she lied about the entire thing. Either way there is a whopper of a lie in this story and she's going to have to come clean and own it.

My title suggestion for the book:

Or falsely claimed they had a special needs child when that child wasn't special needs.. Any lie just to get elected.

And what if through the vetting process that these were highly questionnable. Wouldn't the people want to know the truth before they elected someone who could outrightly lie? What else would they lie about once in? If lying was second nature to get what they wanted, how could the nation trust that individual to make honest judgments and calls with Congress, the Senate, the body of officials he/she works with?

Here's a tip - if you don't like the comments section on Jesse's blog, go back to your own. You'll be done quickly, as you have very, very few comments, but maybe you have a book you can read afterwards?

  198. Mr Munger,

To claim you were just voicing a recollection is folly considering your last statement. Coming here to defend Ms Moore's honor, is also folly. Too many of us have seen her in action. Just like the C4Pers, you might be more content at Mudflats, orJAGFH, where Babygate silence is the rule. We don't go to those sites and slam those that have chosen silence, not worth our time, nor do we go to those sites and demean their readers. Please consider this before posting here again.

London Bridge - Here's a comment from a Ph.D. I personally love the word "transmogrification," but it ain't gonna sell no books to the general populace, a.k.a. the electorate.

Yes, but getting info from bloggers isnt exactly a science. Look at the lies Dunn printed regarding various things. As far as professional record, I believe him. However, all of the personal anecdotes about Sarah in Dunns book are basically not true or exaggerations.
