Film which Palin-bots hope will reinvigorate support for Sarah Palin to have its premiere in Iowa. Well in a little, tiny town in Iowa called Pella actually.

Courtesy of the Huffington Post:

A public relations firm says a film about former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will premiere in the small central Iowa town of Pella.

Hayley McConnell of CRC Public Relations told The Associated Press on Friday that "The Undefeated," a documentary about Palin's rise and time as governor, is set to open at the Pella Opera House on Tuesday.

You might be wondering WHY the filmmakers chose this particular place to have the premiere of a film which many conservative film critics have referred to as a "game changer?" Perhaps this will help answer that question.

Races in Pella, IA.
  • White alone - 9,602 (94.0%)
  • Asian alone - 225 (2.2%)
  • Hispanic - 181 (1.8%)
  • Two or more races - 142 (1.4%)
  • Black alone - 67 (0.7%)

Sixty seven black people out of  almost ten thousand people?  Oh yeah, this is Sarah Palins kind of town!
'
Still one has to wonder why ELSE Palin might want to open her film in this sleepy little burb in Iowa? Usually she likes to be able to give somebody the middle finger while making her appearances.

That's the same day President Barack Obama plans to visit Bettendorf, Iowa, to promote manufacturing jobs.
Uh huh.  Now I get it.

Palin has been noncommittal about whether she will seek the Republican presidential nomination.
The film will have a national rollout in AMC Theatres in 10 markets the week of July 15th. Those cities are Dallas, Denver, Oklahoma City, Orlando, Fla., Atlanta, Orange County California, Phoenix, Houston, Indianapolis and Kansas City.

Shopping this film around one small market at a time.  Isn't THAT how they used to distribute porn to seedy theatres in the seventies?

Oh yeah, I see how the film distributors might have been inspired to do it that way.

P.S. Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!  It looks like Sarah Palin HERSELF is going to attend this premiere!

Victory Film Group VictoryFilmGroup.com and ARC Entertainment announced today that Governor Sarah Palin and her husband Todd will attend the premiere of The Undefeated at the historic Pella Opera House on Tuesday June 28 at 5pm Central Time in Pella, Iowa. Immediately after the showing, Victory Film Group and ARC Entertainment will host a traditional Iowa cookout to thank the Pella Opera House and the people of Pella.

So you heard it here folks.  Sarah Palin will bless the tiny conservative, village of Pella, Iowa, with her awesome presence.  Can you just imagine the boredom excitement that must be running through that little, insignificant community right now?

I wonder how long Palin will wait before she quits?

About the film, because it begins with the vile, sexist comments that immediately began infiltrating the airwaves once she was selected and then progressed to sweet and funny home videos of young Sarah, the film does capture your attention.

There are definitely dry parts: Valdez is something in the beginning, followed by matmaid, and so on. But what has been shown is without finalized sound and even content. It was slightly choppy but still followable.

Those are just my first thoughts.

Bristol's book reviews: It's insulting that critics say Tripp is a victim of her book and promote Levi's hit pieces. But what's more insulting is when some critics can't even accurately report the contents and get the timeline of what is printed wrong. The earlier reports were mostly taken-out-of-context excerpts and juiced up to make impact.

This is why we cannot let one party (currently the DEMs) control the MSM.

As an Iowan, I feel pretty confident in saying she chose Iowa for the premiere because she has done little to no prep work here for a potential presidential run. The facebook/twitter campaigner would love just showing her propaganda film instead of doin' any hard work.

I can't imagine she's going to get a pass here with her movie. Pella is very close to Des Moines, home of the Des Moines Register, which is a liberal, highly respected newspaper - I'm thinking she's going to get quite a bit of negative press. Of course, that'll be the LSM going after her again...

  7. Gryphen - it's not just that Pella is whiter-than-white. Pella is one of those Dutch Reformed Church areas (also around the Grand Rapids area, where I once lived). Fundamentalist busybodies, want to tell YOU what to do, fun-is-bad types.

    Here's the blurb from Wikipedia:

"Pella was founded in 1847 when eight hundred Dutch immigrants led by Dominee (Minister) Hendrik (Henry) P. Scholte settled the area. The name "Pella" is a reference to Pella in the Perea, where the Christians of Jerusalem had found refuge during the Roman-Jewish war of 70;[1] the name was selected because Dominee and the rest were also seeking religious freedom."

    Yup; Sarah's base.

6:12 am. The Democrats do not control the mainstream media. That is a myth.

I have absolutely no interest in reading Bristol Palin's book. Let her get an education, pursue a career (DWTS doesn't count), achieve something personally, then write a memoir. That should put it about 25 years from now, at least. By then, no one will be able to say that she's depending on her mother's notoriety. She will have succeeded in living her own life and may have acquired some perspective on all that has happened during her youth.

LOL at the Fairy Tale Bot at 6:12's hilarious comments. Sure..poor poor Sarah had to face such awful "sexist" remarks. Funny how anything with any truth is "sexist" but the horrible slurs she and her bots throw out aren't "racist"?

She is a stupid lying grifter...there is nothing "sexist" in that remark...nothing but proven truth. Deal with it.

And it's really funny that the "lamestream media" is "DEM" when it is owned by Sarah's puppetmaster Murdoch.

Once again she uses her ongoing ploy of trying to upstage her opponent.

  18. Anonymous6:29 AM

@6:12 you live in a fantasy world. Have you ever looked at the sunday news shows on ALL networks? See any "Dems" appearing on them? Not so much.

If you look at all the major so-called "Dem" controlled news outlets, how much time did they spend destroying Anthony Weiner? Now how much time have they spent on Vitter? What's it like to be so delusional?

It's hilarious the way right wingers see the world. If you're not actively promoting right wing agenda, then you must be liberal. It's a mental illness, I'm telling you.

I think this film is supposed to substitute for the personal speeches given by presidential candidates. That way she does not have to be there in person, or answer any questions. I don't think this approach will work, except with very stupid people.

Of course she is trying again to call attention to herself from President Obama. I think she wants Romney to "notice" her as well.

My dad thinks Romey/Palin would be a "dream ticket". Hahaha! I KNOW Romney has been informed as to what kind of chaos and disaster would happen if he took that poisoned bait. I think he is one of the few people that SP can not charm.

She has bumped the premiere up a couple weeks. Why? Not sure but, since it's just one showing, most likely this film will fizzle in Iowa. She may be having the bus meet her there to tour until July 4 in the hopes that THIS time it will work up to a successful caged "announcement" but 6 days is an even longer time span for Sarah to go without making a spectacle of herself. That would be a long time to come out of hiding. Of course, her scarcity and unpredicdibility add to the intrigue but not to her support.

    Palin, gays in screening duel

Cultures clashed in a Midtown screening room this week when an upcoming documentary touting Sarah Palin's accomplishments was unveiled for conservative taste-makers directly across the hall from new gay romance "Weekend."

"It was quite a dichotomy," one attendee said of the worlds in collision.

Director Stephen K. Bannon booked his Palin documentary, "The Undefeated," into Magno, a regular haunt for New York's film industry, for a series of back-to-back screenings on Wednesday. Guests included a cross-section of Palin supporters, Bannon said, including members of a group called Jews for Sarah.

"The 'Undefeated' director was guarding the door to the Palin screening like a watchdog," said one "Weekend" audience member who peered into the Palin room. "He was pacing the hallway like a stalking lion."

But Bannon -- whose film was introduced by conservative pundits Tammy Bruce and Jedediah Bila -- said he was OK with the two very different crowds. "It was an interesting dynamic," he said. "You had your indie-scene, cutting-edge avant garde [types] and the non-avant garde. There was the downtown indie crowd for 'Weekend' and Wall Street guys, former political operatives and Jews for Sarah for 'Undefeated.' "

I'm in MN and it pains me to say something nice about IA given we have a sort of state rivalry. We have undergone a shocking shift to the right lately so we are reeling from the influence of MB and Tpaw.

BUT, Iowans for the most part are not stupid enough to carry on too long with Barbie. She'll get her fans, not just from Pella, but in the end she will just be there as a distraction and it's my hope her visit is nothing more than a footnote to POTUS' visit to Bettendorf. She seems to lack in creativity, her trying to steal Mitt's thunder with a cookout seems to be repeating here. I really don't think POTUS or MB are going to sweat her presence. I think I know Iowans well enough they aren't about to take this personality seriously when they have the real thing in state.

Does she really think she's going to steal anyone's thunder at this point? Aside from a fringe of crazies the rest of the country has sent a pretty clear message for her to stay away.

What does she offer anyone these days? She won't go there and announce she's running, or even tease too hard. I'm guessing Fox is watching her very closely and won't hesitate to pull the plug. So you get to go see the LL of the political world? Whatever....

Oh here comes Palin's panty sniffer at the Beast:

Bannon said he learned late Saturday night that Palin was going to attend the premiere, and added she seemed pleased by the venue.

“She was attracted to the old opera house and that it’s going to be a low key event in a terrific, old historic town,” Bannon said. “She liked that we picked a location in tune with the heartland values the film represents.”

The premiere may not be as “low key” as Bannon is expecting. News that Palin is attending the screening is sure to attract press from all over the world—as did the first leg of her bus tour.

“The trip will undoubtedly reignite speculation that Palin will jump into the 2012 race.”

The news of Palin’s public re-emergence comes on the heels of speculation this week that she had possibly ended her “One Nation” bus tour, which caused such a splash a few weeks ago when she journeyed up the East Coast. Palin quickly shot down the rumor that her tour was over, explaining that she had been called to jury duty in Alaska without specifying when, or whether, she will actually be asked to serve. Even with jury duty looming, it seems likely that the Iowa appearance will kick off the second leg of her bus tour.

The trip will undoubtedly reignite speculation that Palin will jump into the 2012 race, but insiders close to Palin maintain that she has yet to make that decision, and is still consulting with her husband and family.

Just as she was able to fly from Dallas to Anchorage while in active labor and still have time to drive to a small-town hospital without a NICU so her special-needs child could be delivered in time for her to sign some bills, so too can she fly from Anchorage to Iowa, knock 'em dead with her smile and some memories of her college days there, and then get back in time for her jury duty.

Jury duty in Alaska is for 30 days.

So either Palin started her jury duty before Memorial Day- which is impossible because she was on her SarahPAC donor-funded family vacation/bus tour- or either:

    1. she is lying about suspending her bus tour because of jury duty.
    2. she can get excused or received an extension to go to Iowa, which means she could have done the same thing if she had conflicts with a scheduled resumption of her bus tour, which means she is lying.
    3. she has been excused from jury duty, and is not serving on one, which means, you guessed it, she is lying.

Murdoch and Ailes would laugh at your comment, since they have controlled EVERYTHING for years. Palin is a joke, empty headed bi-polar JOKE. Bristles is a tramp and has been since before she snagged Levi. I do not think he is the father of any of her many kids. Since she is so "confident within herself" why the drastic cosmetic surgery? Too bad "talent" cannot be surgical added.

Sarah didn't say she had jury duty. What she said was this:

"The coming weeks are tight because civic duty calls (like most everyone else, even former governors get called up for jury duty) and I look forward to doing my part just like every other Alaskan."

She said "even former governors get called up for jury duty." I'm sure that's true. They DO get called up. That in no way means SHE has.

If you take out the parentheses, she says, "civic duty calls and I look forward to doing my part." What kind of civic duty? What's her part? She doesn't say. She leaves the impression it's jury duty, but she never says, "I got called up for jury duty." She just says "civic duty calls."

Maybe her "civic duty" means showing up at some 4th of July celebration. Or recycling. Or doing fifteen minutes of "volunteer work" so she can get her picture taken.

Nowhere does she actually SAY she's been chosen for jury duty. And you can bet that's what she'll say if she's ever called on this crap.

  75. The Pella Opera House, built in 1900, was renovated in 1990 and is now a popular entertainment destination, featuring stained glass windows and ornate tin ceilings. A canal winds through nearby Molengracht Plaza, home to a number of shops, restaurants, lodging, a movie theatre, and a full-size working drawbridge.

The annual Tulip Time Festival is a celebration of Pella's Dutch heritage. It features tulip gardens, performances, crafters, music, food, Dutch costumes, and daily parades. The festival is held for three days (Thursday, Friday & Saturday) during the first weekend in May.

Pella Dutch is a Dutch dialect spoken in Pella based on South Guelderish dialect.

In his 1989 book, The Lost Continent: Travels in Small-Town America, travel author Bill Bryson stops in Pella, recounting his childhood visits to the town, and remarking different aspects of the town with his usual wry humor. Throughout the book, parts of Pella are referred back to as examples.

Barack Obama could easily make a propaganda film with tons of footage of the vile, racist comments and sexist (yes, sexist) bullshit, he's had to deal with from the right-wing. But he won't. Because unlike $arah Palin, he's got thick skin, and takes the high road. Her constant whining about people saying mean things about her just proves she is unfit to be president. Scrutiny, and abuse from critics is what happens when you are in the public eye. It even happens to Justin Bieber! But do you hear him whining about it? NO! He ignores it. $arah Palin has been whining non-stop going on three years. I have no sympathy for $arah Palin. Most of it, she brought on herself.

So the Palin's can write hit pieces, but Levi Johnston can't? Fuck you, hypocrite! Nothing the Palin's ghostwriters have written were taken out context, either. The book is trash, and so are the Palins. The media is not controlled by democrats, fool. All the major news networks are owned by republicans, you dip-shit. Republicans also outnumber democrats in radio, and t.v. shows. Fucking moron.

Remember when 15 whole people showed up to protest David Letterman upon Palin's request & Ziegler was one of them? There were several elderly white women there. Our Fairy Tale Troll from Brooklyn was most likely one of them, too.

Sarah Palin herself set the cause of women's lib back several centuries with her use of seductive clothing and enhancements accentuating her sexuality while blatantly using it to advance her career. That is in itself sexist and using sexism and its institutional nature to promote herself. Note to Sarah Palin: women do not want to have to use their sexuality to "get ahead."

Moreover, Palin has repeatedly made sexist remarks against men calling them "limp, impotent" and worse-- implying some who disagree with her politics and MO are pedophiles or want to seduce her daughters. Such innuendos are sexist and pathological

6:12 says: Bristol's book reviews: It's insulting that critics say Tripp is a victim of her book ....

Tripp is a victim of his mother's ill-considered book written from her desire for the trappings of celebrity and money. In the book she says that his father is a "gnat" and that his father "took her virginity" when she was drunk and unconscious (in what is tantamount to a rape). Such psychological abuse from a mother is sad and damaging to the child. Bristol needs counseling if she hopes to raise a healthy child.

In press releases and reports, The Undefeated is touted as being "independently" produced and financed by Victory Film Group and its partners.

It would be interesting to find out who those partners are.

I can't imagine that they would be expecting a return on their investment - at least a CASH return.

The film cost supposedly cost one-million to produce. Does that include the cost of the PR film hired to do the marketing?

What kind of cut are the producer's getting for the DVDs being peddled for $100 to benefit SarahPac?

The producers claim that Palin was not directly involved in the making of the film - but did they pay for the rights to obtain the use of her voice-overs from the audio version of Going Rogue?

I truly hope that someone in the media will follow the money. Where did it come from? Where is it going?

This film is a joke, and meant to deceive people into thinking she is just the greatest little ole thing that ever came down the pike - and is "just like us." That she can save America, and has all the answers. Unfortunately, she can't even seem to save her own marriage or family. While continues to try to manipulate the American people by all her shrewdness, hopefully, it will not work.

She has taken the "low road" and been on it for several years - hoping that her outer looks will also help her. What seems to be finally happening is that people are now starting to focus on her "inner beauty" and what they see seems to be very ugly!!

She evidently will show up at this "premiere" of a film seeking to "glorify" her - she will be bringing her "devoted" husband along. What a pair - truly the biggest phonies America has ever seen!

"June is make or break time for Congressional candidates who are deciding to enter the race.

This mid-year FEC filing deadline is our chance to prove to our candidates that they will have the strong financial backing of grassroots Democrats if we want them to get in the race. We are over halfway to our $1 Million grassroots goal.

I need you to take immediate action -- what you do or don’t do will directly impact our chances of electing President Obama and recapturing the Majority in 2012.

Send a strong message to Democratic candidates around the country with a gift of $3 or more before the mid-year fundraising deadline. House Democrats will chip in two dollars for every dollar you give, tripling the impact of your gift."

The Pella Opera House is not used for opera, if it ever was. The place is like many small American theatres built over a hundred years ago, in smaller towns, where musical performances of all kinds would have taken place. Probably small concerts and vaudeville primarily. They just liked to call them opera houses back in the day, I guess. They might have done a bit of opera or operetta there, but not much.

It's not like Sarah Palin is using a real American opera house (San Francisco War Memorial, Chicago Lyric, the Metropolitan, to name a few) to promote herself. I live about halfway between Pella and Bettendorf. Traditionally, Pella votes for Republicans, conservatives; most people in Pella are descended from the Dutch who settled it, and they are members of the Dutch Reformed Church. Pella is also pretty far off I-80, so you really have to make a point of going there.
Bettendorf is much bigger, one of the "Quad Cities" on the Mississippi (the other communities are Davenport, Rock Island, and Moline), tends to vote Democrat, liberal. There is a huge cultural diversity in the Quad Cities; not so much in Pella. Bettendorf is right off I-80, easy to reach.
I think Palin figures Pella will be an easy crowd to please, but what she DOESN'T know is that if you are NOT DUTCH, people in Pella are likely to be lukewarm towards you.

i haven't read all the comments yet, but i want to say a couple of things. i graduated from central college in 1974 -- it's a small liberal arts college (affiliated w/ the reformed church of america) in pella. pella is also where pella windows are manufactured -- surprise! the college was very "liberal" when i went to school there -- maybe less so now. the town was founded by dutch settlers and is still very dutch -- it is prosperous, conservative, and,not diverse (as you pointed out). the college, however is very diverse. there was always, and i assume still is, the typical town/gown disputes when i went to school there. i HOPE that there will be people protesting there from the college. there won't be a lot of students there since it's summer, but i sincerely hope that some of the more intelligent faculty get something together to protest this. in my day we would not have missed this opportunity for a million bucks! i only wish i still lived close enough to iowa to get there overnight! i cannot tell you how disappointed i am that this is being premiered in pella! disturbing!

I wonder if she's prepared for the fact that even conservative small town Iowans might boo at this insult their intelligence.

"Hey, smart guy, Obama is going to Bettendorf, Iowa which is even whiter:"

The point is that she would never leave her comfort zone. Obama knows that it is important to do that and does it.

Steve Bannon, the producer of the Palin propaganda piece, has just made 2 announcements:

    1. The name of the movie has been changed to "The Refudiated."

    2. There is will an intermission, so Palin can leave in the middle of the movie.

I that Palin's people are having a free cookout for the entire town.

They are bribing people to watch the movie with free food. Probably giving away free tickets too so that Palin can tweet what a huge sell-out her piece of propaganda is.

    ReplyDelete
  141. To "Hey, smart guy":

Bettendorf is NOT whiter than Pella. It's like 94% for Pella and 91% for Bettendorf (89% for the entire Quad City area). The percent of Whites in Bettendorf is just about the same as the percent of Whites in Iowa as a whole (i.e., 90.9 v. 90.6).

So, anyway, what stupid thing is it that you were trying so hard to say about President Obama that you were willing to try to sneak a lie about it past us?

There IS NO "GROUP" called Jews For Sarah. It's a website that consists of ONE GUY - maybe two. I believe it was Salon that did the research on this and found that out. Ah, here it is:

Whoops, I meant to post this here:

Seems like an act of desperation. Free food and admission plus going when someone media-worthy (particularly her projected "rival", President Obama) is close enough by that she may be able to lure in some of the media coverage that she bashes but really needs to keep her name talked about. Most likely, she wouldn't be able to garner enough interest to make it worth sending much coverage otherwise. She is riding on the president's coat-tails to help her cause.

To say that Tripp wasn't thrown under the Sara Palin bus is ludicrous. This is a young child who now knows exactly what it was like when his mother and father hooked up and trust me, if he gets teased it's going to be for having a whoring mother and a father who raped her.

Nice legacy to leave your kid. Trust me, it wouldn't make the cut for an episode of "How I Really Met Your Mother". Or if it did, it wouldn't make it on network TV

That child did not deserve what he's going to endure

I agree. This on top of everything else they fucked up.

Maybe bustol CONcoct the story because she doesn't know whose the father of tripp. When the story does come out that levi isn't the father she can fall back on her being raped story again.

Pee'er comment, heehee, they're wising up over there. Relatively speaking of course.

    Re the Pella premier:
"I'm working and taking care of a sick relative, and I don't live anywhere near there, so of course I can't go. I'm a bit tired of Sarah's events where she shows up all made-up and pretty, and then never declares her candidacy. We're supporting her because we want things done in Washington, not so she can get a lot of attention and then complain that she doesn't like what people say about her."

She's supposed to be on Fox News tomorrow. I'm sure they will promote the movie. She will probably talk about how she has a servant's heart and that she questions the intentions of others that are running.

Speaking of Fox News, how in the hell is she still employed there. I thought there were campaign laws that governed news organizations. Anyone with half a brain can see that she is preparing for a Presidential run and that Fox news is helping her to do it. They told Huck, Santorum, and Newt to declare or they had to go but not Sarah.

I hope that HookerGate can be kept alive because to this point, there has been no iceberg. We need one...soon, for the sake of the country.

She raced down the east coast, risked a tornado, to piss in Mitt Romney's Cheerios. Gets called to "Jury Duty" then races to Pella Iowa to piss on Bachman's cheerio's with this lame movie premiere. The quits to go back to "jury duty"

Anyone else see a pattern here? I wonder which prop she'll take along? Sleepy, Dopey, Doc, Sneezy or Greta Van Sustern?

The ass clowns that put on the circus that is our media go out of there way to ignore the work of our President. Damn near every week he is traveling to factories, meeting with constituents, and business leaders. He is always warmly welcomed, appreciated and promoting what matters to Americans, jobs, opportunity, education, innovation. But the media evidently doesn't find that newsworthy, or don't want to dispell their favorite meme that he is hated and despised. Our media is more than worthless, it threatens our Democracy through the perversion and distortion of information and facts.

No doubt in my mind where they will train their cameras.....Palin being the biggest freak show in the country right now. I for one will not be watching.

I hear what you're saying but there are about 36 of those little donettes in a box at Wallyworld and for under $5 and they could grab extra napkins at 7/11. Throw in a couple 3-liter Mtn Dews and she has a party for under $10. And, she could take the leftover donettes back to the bus for later.

    Hey smart guy.....
    Expanding on Anon @1:42's comments

President Obama isn't afraid to go anywhere, unlike Scarah he doesn't judge people by the color of their skin, and is secure in who he is. He doesn't need to control others, he is responsible and in full control of who he is. Sarah isn't evolved enough to do the same.

what they failed to mention is that Brisket is shacked up somewhere with the Masseys and won't return Sarah's calls, Willow is on a bender, and Todd was last seen at Mad Myrna's but has disappeared since.

The only kid Sarah could find was Piper, who said, "'Running for President'...so would that be anything like the fun, exciting vacation you promised me when we took the bus trip? F*(k you, mom."
