Let's start the day with a smile shall we?

Just for contrast.

Rick Perry with his "baby."
I know it may seem trivial, but something about watching Obama interact with the little ones gives me a comfortable feeling about putting my trust in him.

Considering the number of videos and pictures all of you have sent me, I must assume it does the same for many of you.

Why does Rick Perry always wear shirts with such giant collars and cuffs? I haven't seen anyone wear those since , well, ever. I guess its a Texas thing, but even W knew how to wear a proper suit.

He's gonna have to tone that down before he gets to New Hampshire, that's for sure.

Wait, I got it...it's the Larry Hagman as JR Ewing in Dallas circa 1982 look Perry is still sporting.

For all of Bachmann and Palin's blathering on about their families, you would think that they either hate babies or they never really learned how to hold one. All these pics show them really uncomfortable with babies and the babies don't like them one bit. I think you can pretty much trust a baby's opinion of who is holding him.

What is it with Bachmann and Palin and the way they hold babies in photos? Perhaps they are afraid of baby's spitting on the clothes if they hold the baby facing them?

If you're going to do public baby holding, do it right. Our President does and looks like a real person holding a real baby instead of some demonstration doll who is screaming.

    Makes you ask:

'How secure did those 23 foster kids feel with the Bachmanns?'

Now very!! Some so insecure -- they were never a fosterchild of the Bachmanns yet she says they were.

Add the fact that she won't answer questions about that subject either claiming their privacy. A big 'Bullshit' to Bachmann as you can speak but not disclose names.

There are people who have talked, including the person who originally approved the Bachmanns to be foster parents.

The facts she spews are just that -- her facts as they are more BS. The more she has said them, the more she believes them.

It's obvious that babies adore the President and he has a real connection with them. Sadly, Bachmann & Palin seem to have no rapport with the little ones at all.

It is also evident that the President is doing a beautiful job of bringing up his girls; Palin not so much.

Babies and animals - they know when they are in the presence of a good heart.

I love President Obama's tenderness with babies (and with his family).

Geez, what IS it with Palin & Bachmann? Palin has birthed four little celebriprops and had God knows how many grandbabies on which to practice her "politician holds baby" poses. Bachmann has had five children and allegedly forty thousand foster children. Both women claim to have breast fed their children, which cannot be done without cuddling a baby close.

Yet these two hold babies like they are bombs needing to be diffused. And it's not just some weird pose, either...babies can tell the fakers a mile away!

I wonder if the rumors are true that her breath smells like sour milk, mothballs, and the sweaty sox of homeless men sleeping under a bridge plus a faint hint of corndog? Perhaps that explains the baby's revulsion?

    C'mon, it's a joke! I mock because I despise...

Well, of course those babies smile and laugh for the President. Just look at his face when he is interacting with them. He has a warm genuine smile and wonderful expressions that babies respond beautifully to. He is focused on them and they know it. Contrast that with the witchy dried up pruney faces of Bachmann and Palin who are only using the babies for props. They don't even look at the child, they are posing for the camera.

WOW! What is Perry pointing at? He has his finger on the trigger, which is a total NO-NO, unless you are ready to pull the trigger and shoot! (gun-safety rule #1!)

President Obama is such a 'Daddy'.

Not just a father who happens to have produced some offspring with the same genetic material, but a 'Daddy' who clearly connects with children of all ages and genuinely likes them. I've never seen a President (or Presidential candidate) who has such a magnetic quality around babies and who obviously revels in being with them.

Babies and little kids can see right through phoniness and don't hesitate to make their feelings known. The President's connection with kids says a lot about his heart.

    That's a perfect comment.

It was a soothing sight to watch these pics of the prez and babies. It just reaffirms what most of us have seen from the get-go; his capacity for authentic empathy.

He is albe t be present and genuinely focus on each little face, mugging, mirroring, sweetly smiling. I love seeing his hands protectively cradle a little one's head.

Then there's the frenzied birthin' sisters always holding wriggling or stunned little infants outward, take-my-picture. Perry'd just as soon shoot 'em. After they're born of course.

So much for the myth of Perry being a responsible gun owner. He has his finger on the trigger waving a gun in public. He is violating all gun safety rules all at once. He doesn't strike me as someone that has handled a gun very often. That fucker is a posturing clown that is playing cowboy for the cameras.

O/T ... Just went to my other daily blogs, Crooks and Liars and Daily KOS. Guess what advertisement was staring me in my face? Green Giant Peas! They're everywhere. I tell you it's a conspiracy. An health nut conspiracy. The OBs must be behind it and manipulating our internet.

I've never did any searches for peas or visit any related websites, only wrote the word in the Gryphen's Pea-Butter Fair story. Boy Butter-beatch is really going to be more pissie than usual.

I now anticipate condom advertisements after the horny dog story from yesterday. And seeing toilet bowl cleaners from reading the Perry articles.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go change from laughing too hard.

Babies judge by comfort level, energy quality, and intent- it's just survival instincts. Obama, I believe, cares about people and knows how to be calm and at peace inside himeself- and that that is important to adults and children. These screechy, self-promoting women of the right such as Palin and Bachmann are so disconnected from these qualities in themselves. How else could they continue to lie and deceive as they do. Babies know.

  27. Anonymous9:24 AM

President Obama has face to face contact with all those children.

Eye contact. As well as physical.

    Contact.

The pictures I've seen of Winky and BatShitCrazy, they hold the baby away from themselves.

    Avoiding personal contact.

I know which one I want in charge of my children and children's future.

I agree with Olivia. When the Pres holds a baby, he looks at them, in their eyes, engages them, and of course, the babies lap it up. He knows how to connect with people, even little ones. Love the collection Gryphen!

I noticed that too - Palin and Bachman hold babies away from themselves, while the President holds them looking in, and looks into their faces. It's very odd that mothers would hold babies so they can't see who's holding them.

Dammit, I need more Kleenex. What a lovely slide show and what a clear contrast. Palin, Perry, Bachman are all cut from the same cloth: cold, calculating, dishonorable, stupid and not that into children, apparently. Thank you, Gryphen for making me smile (after I wept.)

I would love to see a slide show of President Obama with seniors, with poor people, with teens and young adults. I believe you would see some real adoration and admiration no matter the race, gender or religious preference (if any.) This is a damn good man- we call him a MENSCH. Love him!

  33. Aaaah to be a baby cuddled in the arms of President Obama......... He's as adorable as the babies IMHO.

What is it about the right that causes them to rail against humanity, tenderness, fairness, equality and compassion? An undeveloped empathy gene is surely nothing to brag about.

I'm SURE someone has said it already (haven't read the comments yet) but...

In regard to the photo in this post:

So now we know- Palin brought the fake bewbs to Iowa...she just lent them to someone else!

For saying that, I'm probably going to be sharing a table in the seventh circle of hell alongside Rebecca "I want to bathe Sarah's nasty feet with my acid tongue" Mansour and Bristol "Trig is my 'brother' as long as mommy's wallet is still open" Palin...but it had to be said.

There are three basic ways babies interact with other people, and it's a sign of trust, innocence, and curiosity. The first is eye contact and tracking facial expressions which many have covered, the second is to be held securely and the third is to have those qualities mirrored to them in a genuine way. It's magic, pure and simple, when those three qualities are met, especially by a caring, nurturing man, who's focused on who he's fighting for day in and day out, our children, our most precieous commodity.

Bachman and Palin, though females and "mothers", seem very perplexed and uncomfortable around children, and the effect on the children is palpable.

Rick Perry is a worthless piece of garbage. Wonder if he drives a porsche and wears a rolex as well? Wouldn't surprise me if he wore lifts in his shoes and has prescriptions for viagra. Anyone handing their child to him would have to be insane.

Thanks for these uplifting videos, Gryph. It takes a real man to show his tender, nurturing side and be comfortable in his own skin. My husband and you also have that knack. Believe me, watching a man interact with a child that way is an aphrodesiac to women, well at least, this one.
