Which President has done the most to encourage growth in the US energy industry? Are you thinking Ronald Reagan or George Bush? Wrong again!

"You oil executives see my tie? That is an indication of the future of energy in this country. Deal with it!"
Courtesy of Chron.com:

Advocates for the U.S. energy industry routinely say they wish President Obama would pursue pro-growth energy policies. Well, he has been, and not just for the likes of fallen green giants like Solyndra. Under Obama, the traditional U.S. energy sector is flourishing. The domestic energy sector is experiencing its largest growth since the halcyon days of the 1950s and 1960s. As importantly, we're growing in the right directions.

For the first time in decades, we are seeing sustained increases in U.S. oil production and decreases in oil consumption, which means imports are dropping.

U.S. domestic oil production is up an incredible 14 percent since Obama took office. A few years ago we imported nearly two-thirds of our petroleum products. Today we import less than half. The reduction in imports means tens of billions of dollars now stay in our own economy.

But it's not just oil: dry natural gas production is up 16 percent, natural gas liquids are up 26 percent, solar generation is up 14 percent and wind generation is up 59 percent. Even production of coal - supposedly the main target of Obama's policies - is flat over that same time period. There are even headlines blaring that U.S. refining capacity is at the highest point in decades, exceeding levels achieved under recent Republican administrations. All of this growth produces royalties and taxes to address our budget challenges.

Despite the numbers, many in the energy industry describe Obama as if he's intent on making us freeze in the dark. They'd have us believe Obama and his team are singlehandedly killing the American energy industry.

The facts tell a different story: This is a pro-energy president.

And that my friends is the difference between having a comprehensive energy policy, and just coming up with bumper sticker slogans like "Drill Baby, Drill."

By the way if anybody is standing near Sarah Palin when she reads this I will pay serious money for a picture of the look on her face at this news.

Though in my minds eye, it will look something like this:

Let's face it this is YET another area where the Republicans simply have no ammunition to use against the President. I swear if this jobs crisis turns around before the election, all the Republican candidate will be able to do is point at his face and say "Yeah, but at least I'M white!"

If Sarah Palin can run around the world saying she's an 'energy expert' and is echoed by the GOP, than the Republicans have very little standards for those credentials.

Breaking news: Space scientists discover asteroid Letitia is actually a "failed proto-planet". Romney campaign immediately slams Obama administration for 'yet another Washington insider, anti-business, job-killing asteroid policy that the Romney administration will reverse on Day One".

Hey, maybe Romney has a point this time. I mean, couldnt President Obama have done SOMETHING to save that asteroid???? The libtards all slammed Bush when he made a few small mistakes with Katrina but they sure look the other way when The Magic Negro loses AN ENTIRE PLANET!!!

  5. The best part: This article is from the Houston Chronicle. Houston: the biggest city in Texas, and still the energy capital of the world.

If they say Obama is good for energy, then Obama is good for energy.

My 21 month old daughter just glanced over at the computer and when she saw this photo of Mrs. Palin she laughed hysterically then waved at it and said "bye bye!".

    Exactly!!

Love this...love this...LOVE this! And now how do we get the message and the facts out there so even the walking dead understand the truth?
The best part of this is that we are CONSERVING oil. That is what needs to be done first and foremost, but remember the hit candidate Obama took for even mentioning that properly inflated tires saved gas? What a nerd...why should the gas guzzling RAM owners be worried about gas conservation? Heck, they drive those things two miles to the grocery store, take up two parking places, and smoke their way back to the trailer park.
Hang on, Mr. President! LIfe is about to get better when we unelect half the House and a third of the Senate.

while i don't fear the rape of our natural resources with this presidency as much as previous presidencies, i really (really, really, really) wish that our government were more progressive thinking about energy. invest in our future! invest in solar, waste(!), and wind power! i'm tired of energy bills as high as my rent.

To encourage growth would mean to support natural gas and oil drilling, two things we need. Any other energy source is a distant dream. It's good to keep dreaming and working but present day solutions need to be actualized.

And speaking of $ucky $arah reacting to pictures or online articles, check out this quote from a dedicated Pbot:

    QUote
"It's a shame the GOP are trying to destroy her, and I hope it doesn't work. Sarah Palin deserves strong, principled opposition, not to be kneecapped by her own side for getting too big for her britches. "

Geez $arah, do you think there's a reason the Repubs, Indies, and even party bigwigs are down on you?
If you think people are plotting against you, maybe you're right!

Did you not read the article? We ARE supporting those, but they are not he answer. Both are dangerous to the environment, and need to be phased out. Coal is even worse. The answers are in solar and wind, and conservation...people need to buy fuel efficient vehicles, use them wisely, and stop driving over the speed limit. If we rely solely on oil and natural gas, we are fouling our waters, our air, and leaving nothing for our grandchildren but a ruined planet.

When Murderoch owns most of our country's media avenues then Obama's victories never see the light of day in the MSM. Terrible what the journalists have allowed to happen just because they have no guts to print the truth, daily!

Not O/T - All of us, everyone of us needs to do whatever we can to keep Norquist from railroading Reagan's statue getting put on Mt. Rushmore.

Rethugs can't recall what a horror Reagan was - married Nancy because she was pregnant, destroyed the safety we got from the air traffic controllers, gave us the homeless by emptying out and de-funding the mental institutions, gave the US the largest deficit in history etc. etc. etc.

What can we do to stop this insanity of promoting the only president we know who continued his tenure though he had Alzheimer's and slept through so many meetings he attended, or had Nancy whispering in his ear to tell him what to say because he could no longer comprehend the messages himself?

And about his strong Xtian beliefs - he is the only one on record whose days were planned according to the direction he garnered from his astrologer! It drove his schedule makers to distraction!

This kind of tacky BS resident in the White House sure does not need to have his weak face up there with the other icons who gave us so much more and had respect for the office.

  18. Huge props to LoveAndKnishes for the best post of the day!! Wonder if Sarah uses silver bullets while shooting defenseless animals? Todd must think her favorite horror film is "Scream." Piper's is "Mommy Dearest," and Bristol's is "Somebody's Baby."

    Happy All Hallows, everyone!

Obama 2012!!! Let's make it a freaking landslide!!

Look, I get that this article is proving yet another example of how rightwingers make shit up about Obama, but....if all this is true, if we're really producing that much more energy, then why the fuck are energy prices still so high? I'm pissed. Our energy supply and distribution is held hostage by big utility companies and private equity firms.

  20. Kim Kardashian is filing for divorce. She got a lot of money and publicity for her wedding, then 72 days later it's over. Sounds like she took her cues from Bristol's $100,000 repeat engagement to Levi.

This man doesn't toot his own horn, he works hard for our nation and the world. It's been a long uphill struggle when he's working with a bunch of people who's sole purpose in life is to stop at nothing to make him look bad and be a one term president.
But what have they shown for their tenure in office?

We need to rally and get out the vote.

That last photo - priceless. Loved her speech about the Exxon Valdez settlement when Todd was Governor.

The White House is facing fresh political headaches over energy loans as a second Energy Department-backed company goes bankrupt and Republicans prepare to subpoena White House internal communications on the failed solar company Solyndra.

Beacon Power Corp., the energy storage company that received a $43 million Energy Department (DOE) loan guarantee last year, filed for bankruptcy over the weekend, prompting a fresh wave of GOP criticism of the embattled DOE loan program.

The filing comes two months after California solar-panel maker Solyndra — which received a $535 million guarantee in 2009 — went belly-up.
