Rachel Maddow addresses how the President responded to his OWS mic check moment, among other topics.

As you may remember I also pointed out how cool Obama was during what could have been an embarrassing moment, but clearly Rachel did it much better.

Of course I feel I should point out that we were more or less in sync, even down to some of the examples she used of the Republicans NOT responding well to their own mic checks.

UC Davis to Pay Pepper-Spray Bills

The University of California, Davis, is trying to make amends for the treatment of Occupy protesters last week, dropping charges against 10 people who were arrested and paying the medical expenses of students who were pepper-sprayed. The university also tapped Bill Bratton, former head of the Los Angeles, Boston, and New York police departments, to head an advisory panel looking into the incident. Video of a campus police officer casually pepper-spraying seated protesters prompted calls for chancellor Linda Katehi’s resignation.

LOVE our president's sense of humor!

President Obama said today he has issued a new executive order, though this one isn't likely to alienate Congress: Pardoning turkeys.

..."Some of you may know that recently I've been taking a series of executive actions that don't require congressional approval," Obama said before doing the deed. "Well, here's another one: We can't wait to pardon these turkeys."

"Now, I'm told that in order to prepare Liberty and Peace for their big day the students exposed them to loud noises and flash bulbs so that they'd be ready to face the White House press corps," Obama said.

Unable to resist another political joke, Obama said the turkeys "also received the most important part of their media training, which involves learning how to gobble without really saying anything."

It was the 64th anniversary of a turkey tradition, the history of which is outlined on the White House website.
