Neil DeGrasse Tyson reveals the most astounding fact about the universe.

I just thought this was a very beautiful and enlightening way to start our Tuesday morning.

I shared something similar in January, but I just thought that this video did a really profound job of reminding us that we are all connected to everything around us.

I can't decide if this makes me feel insignificant or Godlike.

Insignificant. Always insignificant. See Zaphod Beeblebrox and the Total Perspective Vortex.

    O/T

Game Change authors Halperin & Heilemann have a segment on Morning Joe today.

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3096434/#46637675

Joe and Mika -- Palin sympathizers. Boo Hoo -- She was victimized. Feel sorry for her. Man -- these two buffoons are out of touch with reality and truly never educated themselves about Palin.

I still say - the best Morning Joe show ever -- the day both of those pukes weren't there and Willie et al took on Franklin Graham as they didn't give him the floor to just spew his hateful talking points - they hit him back and was the media story of the day everywhere. I don't recall a Joe & Mika segment getting that kind of news exposure!!!

As for Mika -- For someone that many put out into the ozone that she's intelligent, etc. -- no she's truly not. She's there for a doormat for Joe. She just lays down for the condescending mouthpiece and she totally accepts it. Only his views are right - he speaks over her, etc and she takes it - she let's him away with it. She in it for $$ and shoes from Donnie on Morning Joe. She can be bought -- cheaply. She's one of the women that disgusts me as the media hangs her out there as a roll model -- SHE'S NOT. I don't want any of females to be like that doormat that is more interested in having face time for $$ and SHOES.

Also -- another segment on the book with Moore will be on Morning Joe but segment not posted yet.

Thank you for posting.....I adore this man, he is an awesome ambassador for science. He was on the Bill Mahr panel last Friday and always holds his own. As crazy as the moon stuff sounded from Newt, hearing Neil discuss the spirit of the future, technology and exploring generated by Kennedy's quest for the moon is needed today. We don't have that sense of wonder about the future anymore and all the breakthroughs that impacted so many areas of life that came about because of that quest. Hearing him speak of this made alot of sense....when we stop dreaming we just stop.

And some men have the audacity to define all that within a book called the bible. Who needs a god when you understand how the science explains the atom. It is bigger than any current human mind can comprehend, yet we continue to kill and hate each other because some think they know all the answers. Can you imagine the world if every person was shown this the start of each day?

Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful clip. :)

We are made from stardust. This is my religion -- nature religion. And I believe nature itself (including the stars) possesses consciousness, which our ancestors personified into deities. There are degrees of consciousness, ours is definitely of a different scope than that of a star, a galaxy, a tree, or a cat. But how could WE be conscious if the universe is not and we are of the same stuff as the universe?

See what deep thoughts your clip inspires so early in the morning, Gryphen? Lol....

You have nothing to say and you are obviously trying to fill space. And you have a hard-on for Degrasse Tyson so you are using him today. Why not invent another iceberg to keep things going?

Perfect! Way to soar out of the muck of the last few days. Thank you. This, indeed, gets closer to a religion in which I can hold faith. It is the connectivity that we all seek- on some scales we seem limitless and on others, minuscule.
