Now you might expect most people to come back the next day and have some regrets about directing that kind of language at a young women, but not this flatulent piece of human excrement.
Courtesy of ABC News:
On today’s show, Limbaugh turned up the heat and suggested that women who use insurance-covered birth control should post sex tapes online: “So Miss Fluke, and the rest of you Feminazis, here’s the deal. If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, and thus pay for you to have sex. We want something for it. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch,” he said.
It takes lot for me to feel shame for being a man, but this just about does that.
This is the worst kind of ugly testosterone fueled rhetoric, that usually spills out of the mouths of those pimply faced guys in high school who could not get any female to pay attention to them so they made hateful, vulgar, sexually explicit jokes about them to their buddies as a way to release their rage and minimize their insecurities.
Did you ever wonder what happened to those guys when they got older.
They turn out like this. |
Well now you know.
That disgusting pile of protoplasm needs to go. What can we do to get him off the airwaves. I will boycott anything!!
ReplyDeleteThis could get interesting. Bain Capital bought Clear Channel in 2006. Maybe some pressure should be put on Romney!
DeleteContact Clear Channel and tell them it's time for Rush to go:
Deletepublicrelations@clearchannel.com
I just called. The lady said they were getting a lot of calls.

it'd be totally cool with me if this limp dick fuk_tard lard ass'd go breitbart on us
ReplyDeleteLol! I'm a pacifist but this man has driven me to my limits of toleration. Karma awaits him.
DeleteOnly seems fair to me!
DeleteOh, don't be so nasty. Limbaugh is a reprehensible bucket of stinking trash, and just like Dick Cheney, he'll have a massive, agonizing heart attack and expire within my lifetime. That's what keeps me going - knowing I'll live on well after they do.
DeleteEXACTLY my thoughts! And I'll give no apology, either! Rush has soiled our political conversations enough! He & Breitbart will have a GAY old time in hell.
DeleteIt's reprehensible that a private citizen who, in service to her fellow citizens, decides to step forward and testify before Congress, is personally slandered and defamed by someone with the bully-pulpit of a nationally syndicated media empire - just because she DARED to speak up.
ReplyDeleteIf Clear Channel allows Limbaugh to go without reprimand, they deserve to be included in a defamation lawsuit along with him.
I hope the young woman involved sues. Maybe it could be a class action on behalf of all single woman who use contraceptives.
DeleteSo Weiner gets run out of Congress for being stupid, but not breaking one law, nor bothering anyone else, and Vitter still hasn't paid any child support and keeps his seat. Keith Olbermann tells the truth night after night about the fraud that was Bush, and he loses his job at MSNBC. Rush, meanwhile, gets to spew this vile garbage day after day and keep rtaking in his paycheck? And what about the 'reporters' at Faux Noise, who wouldn't tell the truth if it was all that was out there? Somehow we have to end this despicable behavior. I never listen to this moron, but there must be some sane people who do (well...maybe?) Can't you tell him when he's gone over the line. Maybe we need to get to his sponsors like we did Beck.
ReplyDeleteHis mom should have named him Lush Rimjob.
ReplyDeleteHis mom should have put an aspirin between her knees...
DeleteBwahahaha! Best comment of the day!
DeleteThis sort of attention-grabbing misbehavior makes me wonder, what news is it intended to direct our attention away from?
ReplyDeleteOr what did he experience at the hands of his mother (or another woman) when he was a young boy?
DeleteRemember when the paid PUMA stooges were claiming that Sarah was the true feminist?
ReplyDeleteFunny how she had time for FB posts praising Breitbart, but none for fellow sister Gabby Giffords. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess she'll have nothing to say about Limbaugh's sexist rant either.
She's afraid of Rush so she'll keep quiet.
DeleteShe'd only come out in support because she's one of those sadistic "feminists".
DeleteWhy give the fat bastard any attention. Just look away and walk by quickly. Like you do the crazy homeless dude. PS Viagra is paid for by insurance companies so can I watch that porn?
ReplyDeleteLimbaugh is a child raping pedophile. He deserves to be gang raped daily in prison. He is the lowest of the low. He can eat shit and die.
ReplyDeleteI smiled when I learned that Breitbart died. I will dance a jig when Limbaugh dies.
I was shocked at my own response when I heard on my car radio that Breitbart was dead: I actually shrieked with joy, a totally unexpected and utterly cathartic primal scream. It felt like a gift to the nation, a step toward reviving civil discourse. I found myself pondering who else's demise would be good for the country, and Clarence Thomas popped into my head. But Limbaugh is right up there, too...
DeleteWhen you've lived your life in such a way that your death is a relief to millions, THAT is beyond sad.
That list is long, my friend, very, very long!
DeleteWhat makes him even more of an asshole and I hope one criminally liable is that Ms. Fluke recounted the narrative of a friend who lost an ovary because she couldn't get medically necessary hormonal birth control to treat endometriosis/cystitis because she had made the (in hind sight) bad choice of going to a Catholic University and the student insurance wouldn't cover it.
ReplyDeleteI hope Miss Fluke, the lovely soft-spoken young woman who showed up to testify on behalf of her sick friend, and was barred by the Good Ol' Boys, ends up a very, very rich woman. I hope she cleans this gasbag out, and that a sidewalk in California has his name on it some day soon (and not on Hollywood Boulevard!)
ReplyDeleteIts time for Rush to go. The woman wasn't testifying about the use of contraceptives for other medical devices and how eliminating them from health insurance can harm a woman's health. Rush is totally out of line. He is a disgrace to humanity and should be fired immediately. I know, it won't happen, but I can hope.
ReplyDeleteThe Viagra user and a cigar? WTF?!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd his partners have to stand him for 4 hours?
He is s fat gay man who can't get laid. He pretends to like women, but his history points to numerous gay encounters. He wishes he was born a woman. Sucks to be him. Ask him about Elliot Sanders
DeleteAsk him about the 'Faces' club in Sacramento or maybe he was just out for a late night walk around the Capitol, smelling the roses.
DeletePoor little Rush just can't seem to admit the fact that he HATES WOMEN!!!
ReplyDeleteThis pathetic excuse for a human being hates women.
There is nothing more to say. well, except to ask Ricky S. to pray for his soul????
WOW!!! Another POS who may find himself taking a walk "around midnight" and end up on the sidewalk of "natural causes"!

ReplyDeleteGrygh, there are so many males in the world that would love to kick this guys face in for this kind of behaviour and disrespect of women. I don't think I've seen or heard of such a vulgar ass-wipe in my entire 50 yr old life as this guy.
Grrr...this guy just gets my back up. I guess this is how some idiots make money in America, revelling up the extreme nut-cases of the extreme right wing nutters. To think there is still a base of humans in America for this kind of hate that support it.
I think I have to go watch the video of the President of Ireland again to wash away this kind of horrible hate that this idiot spews daily.
Yes! The President of Ireland rocks! Limbaugh needs an ass kicking by a woman. Literally.

Cannot freaking believe that statement came out of a human being's mouth. What the hell is wrong with this POS?
ReplyDeleteI say, cut off his insurance-paid viagra. And while we're at it, cut off his - well, never mind.
And then cut off all his insurance-paid antidepressants, oxycontin, and other prescription drugs that he abused. (But can anyone BLAME him for wanting to escape from himself? Just imagine being stuck in that head...)
What makes this type of hateful, sick person tick, anyway? Maybe we could post his brain scans online, to study this. The information could be used to target miscreants like him for insurance-paid, preemptive, therapeutic abortions before they enter the human race.

If I am not mistaken, there were quite a few rumors at one point about Rush Limbaugh truly hating women, if you know what I mean.
ReplyDeleteOvercompensating - and willing to take the heat for being a sexist SOB, just so no one thinks he's anything other than heterosexual.

DeleteRush is a lot like Sarah Palin. He will say outrageous things when he feels ignored, just to get attention.
ReplyDeleteThe contraception issue is ridiculous when insurance covers Viagra-Levitra-Cialis for impotent men to have sex.
Maybe the men who take ED drugs covered by insurance should post videos of their activities, too, eh Rush?
I like to think of him in the same category as Ann Coulter. They say the most outrageous crap just to sell books or whatever. There is no actual thinking involved. They just like to stir things up. Not only do they make money, but it gives them a sense of power.
DeleteI get what your saying, but really there is no equivalency between the two. He's equating bc to ed meds because they are taken just for the sole purpose of having sex. BC has many more uses, not just so women can be promiscuous, as the fat bastard implies. I would love to see a million women march greet him as he leaves his studio.
DeleteOh and you know Rush is owned by Rupert Murdoch, the owner of FOX News/NewsCorp. Consider the source.
ReplyDeleteWhere have I heard that before?
DeleteRush gorges himself on attention. It's the only thing that makes him feel alive (well, the viagra helps).
ReplyDeleteYou should be happy that the head of the Republican party is handing the Democrats gifts like this. He's taken over the Republican party, but all he really cares about is his own obese carcass. I expect that a lot of people will be motivated to vote by the Republican's insane attacks on women. Rush is the gift that keeps on giving.
ReplyDeletePeople like Limbaugh and the late Breitbart do it all to get attention and that attention brings on money. Do you think every news outlet would be replaying Limbaugh's remarks if he said something that was logical and not hate-filled? So, they get the attention and that means money. Meanwhile, the right is dragging this country towards fascism.
ReplyDeleteForget about these asshats; get out and work to get reasonable people in Congress and give Obama the landslide he so richly deserves.
4 time married, "Conservative Values" Convicted Drug Felon, with a High School education, Rush Limbaugh!
ReplyDeleteGo Team GOP!
Walk The Walk!
This guy is the biggest asshole and I'm shocked he is able to remain on the air.
ReplyDeleteHe's been married four or five times now and has no children. The only reason he's attracted any women is because he has money. What do you want to bet that he has a limp dick and needs to take viagra!
I don't understand why any one in the world would listen to his garbage because it is nothing more than that!
What is really sad about this old windbag and his fellow loon Beck, is that they've both come out admitting their schtick is just an ACT.
ReplyDeleteDespite doing so, his loyal worshipers refused to believe that, and doubled down on their humping the leg of both of these doorknobs.
The dummies who lost money following Beck's "buy gold" advice will NOT blame him as they should (he made lots of money in that scam, now revealed as just that).
Talk about getting what you deserve. If you can find anything admirable in either of them, you are essentially doomed.
He makes my skin crawl. He doesn't care what he says as long as it gets him attention. So do all those viagra users whose little blue pills are paid for by insurance also have to make movies to post online? Hypocrite. Gasbag. I cannot even begin to imagine why anyone would listen to this hateful windbag.
ReplyDeleteOff topic, what do Alaska women think of Murkowski's vote 'against' this bill today and the right for women to decide their own fate on whether or not they want to use birth control? I think she sold you girls out on your choice to have it.
ReplyDelete"...a despicable excuse for a human being if there ever was one..."
ReplyDeletePurr-fect.
Boycott his very few sponsors. Two I know of are Shari's Berries and Lifelock.
ReplyDeletehe seems to be so full of hate....for women specially and democrats second. breitbart was bursting with hate too.
ReplyDeleteThis was an unnecessary, vile attack.
ReplyDeleteIt is vital to understand that the republicans are out of control. They have NO leader, that the lowest of the low is rising to the top.
Shame on republicans for keeping quiet and allowing this vile, disgusting man represent your party.
Bain Capital (Mittens)owns Clear Channel, they broadcast Limbaugh. So, we need to go to clear channels Facebook page to complain. This story should go viral that Bain Capital is involved. Everyone should email their local media this info and mention Bain and Romney. Should see some fireworks, I hope.
ReplyDeleteI don't think one can, in good conscience, mention the words "human being" and "Rush Limbaugh" in the same sentence...unless, of course, the human in question is acting like a cunty bastard.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Rush.
How will the Republicans manage to distance themselves from Limbaugh's hateful, juvenile, crudely offensive and utterly indefensible remarks about a young female law student expressing her concern to her elected officials without managing to offend the great king-maker? Hmmm??? Inquiring minds want to know which Republicans have an ounce of self-respect or any balls at all.
ReplyDeleteThis ludicrous, despicable piece of anal crap must be taken off the airwaves. What can we do to get rid of him? Boycott his sponsors! I think men are absolutely terrific, but unless men have lived in a woman's body they don't have a clue what we need. I was young and hemorrhaging and needed to have surgery, but without being put on birth control pills to quiet down my ovaries, the left one would have ruptured, given my peritonitis and possibly causing death. These outrageous republican men want to take this away from us? There are other medical uses for birth control pills that having nothing to do with controlling birth! My hat is off to the young lady who tried to testify before these awful men in congress. Besides getting the crap off the airwaves, we need to vote these ignorant republicans out of congress! How sad this is for the United States. I can imagine how outraged other countries about what they hear coming out of the US today! We should be ashamed of ourselves!
ReplyDeleteFreud, and many others, could diagnose this lunatic.
ReplyDeleteBut we don't need any book learnin' snobs to tell us that he clearly is insanely jealous of anyone, male or female, who can function normally. From his weight, his drug abuse, his many marriages and lack of children, it wouldn't be a stretch to say that Rush hasn't been in a normal sexual experience for quite some time.
It's kind of him to share with us his use of internet porn. He's just the sort of obese, mouth-breathing hermit that one thinks of when considering porn. Without Viagra and porn, our Rush would forever have a cigar as the only tool in his toolbox.
Sometimes a cigar is more than a cigar.
"Sometimes a cigar is more than a cigar."
DeleteBRAVO! Best line I've heard in a long time.
Thanks !
So how is it that he doesn't have any kids? Not that I would want him to procreate, because that would just be disgusting. But with having 4-5 wives (not sure exact number), you would think he's done a lot of screwing and not one has gotten pregnant? Hmmmm...
DeleteI haven't taken time to read everyone's comments yet, but what I don't hear in this news as it is covered about a woman's right to contraception in most news pieces, is that this also benefits males. Do we want to begin protecting ourselves in ways that build terrible misunderstandings in a heterosexual relationship? That's just the tip of the ice berg.
ReplyDeleteBelow is the list of Limbaugh's sponsors from a 2011 listing. There will likely be more updated information shortly. I plan to make calls tomorrow to ask these companies (esp. eharmony!) if they really want to continue to support this behavior, and if they want their company name associated with this ignorant and abusive rhetoric. I plan to inform then that I will post this list on my facebook page and do my best to keep this topic current.

Deletefuck off
DeleteIt is impossible to change this type of rigid, nasty thinking - and others like him - or the fanatical right (both men and women) - there is no truth, fact or logic that can penetrate their fog of ignorance and denail of reality they believe their way is the only way and will forcibly in any way possible try to impose that on others - they can't comprehend that the very freedom that allows them to chose NOT to take contraceptions etc has to also protect those who do (after all the opposite could be true - for example China limits the number of children a person can have and will arrest and force a woman to have an abortion).
ReplyDeleteI suggest using their kind of distorted "logic" to point out the absurdity of their claims - for example...
We need to flood Bristol (and Sarah too) with letters and emails asking her to be the spokesperson for birth control - after all SHE took them for "medical" reasons to reduce her cramps!!!!
In every state (and in congress and the senate too)whenever an amendment (or law) is put forth to limit women's health care - then we need to add STOP insurance from paying for viagra AND add anal probs for men who "need" to take it for "medical reasons not just for having sex" (rolls eyes) - AND any state or federal amendent that wants to limit contracpetion and other women's health care needs to mandate ALL males from the time they turn 13 (puberty) be entered in a DNA database so if and when they father a child they will be held legally and financially responsible for that child and their wages (even if it's just a paper route) will be garnished!
It is possible to change this type of thinking, but it needs to start early. We need to teach our kids to have a healthy, coherent and cohesive worldview. I hate to say it, but there are many people in Rush's generation who think exactly like his perverse thinking. It can change, but it requires admitting that the current way of thinking is wrong or flawed in some way, something not many people are all that willing to do because it would require some deeper thinking, something many people are not equipped to do.
DeleteYes I agree the young need to be educated - BUT we do not have access to the "young" being raised by the far right who home school them and warp their minds so they can't think for themseves (very few escape once they become adults - they are so damaged and unskilled\uneducated they are dependant on the community that they were born into)
DeleteI do owe Rush Limbaugh one. I worked for GM and had my retirement savings tilted heavily into GM stock funds. When GM tapped Rush as a spokesman in 2007 for GM being "Green" I realized the end was in sight; GM had truly lost their mind.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.ecorazzi.com/?p=3473
I dumped those funds. GM went "belly up" a few years later. Had I held those funds my retirement savings would have been hit very hard.
Thank you Rush....
I hope Sandra Fluke sues the hell out of Limpballs for slander because that's exactly what he engaged in, the vile asshole.
ReplyDeleteI will assume for the sake of argument that Rush is a heterosexual. But, for anyone to have such a deep rooted and obvious hatered for the opposite sex only tells me that that person has deep hurt, fear and anger issues still unresolved from childhood.
ReplyDeleteEven if a person's sexual orientation is hetersexual, to hate the opposite sex so much leaves your only your own sex to feel any kind of affection for.
I think Rush is afraid he is gay, not because he has any sexual attraction to men--I doubt that he does---but rather because to be so repulsed by females leaves (in his shallow mind) no alternative but to be gay, then he fears he may be. AND THAT DOES WHAT?
It destroys his ego. It goes without saying that Rush Limbaugh is nothing without his ego.
He walks a very fragile line in this world and hence all the more bluster.
Palin is the same. Big ego, nothing for her to rely on beind that ego, and nothing bluster and hatred, anger, fear.
Pathetic. Both of them.
Death is really hard for people like this because they spend their whole lives running away from fear instead of confronting it and preparing for their own mortality.
Nothing to fear but fear itself is so simply and literally true.
one more idea -- if this "bill" is about religious freedom then we have to remember that it means it would NOT cover blood transfusions since some religions don't believe in these!
ReplyDeleteI think I'll start a facebook page to promote an amendment... The Palin Inspired Religious Freedom Amendment
What is truly outrageous is the silence heard from the right which should be condemning his statements. Are we to assume that every one in the GOP totally agrees with him? Sarah? Ms. Coulter? Fox News? Mr. Hannity? O'Reilly? Their silence speaks volumes.
ReplyDeleteThe power that he holds over the entire right is a frightening sight to behold.
4 marriages and no kids? either he's shooting blanks or his sluts used birth/barf control.
ReplyDeleteOr abortion.
DeleteHe is a closeted gay who hits on men
DeleteI think Rush Limbaugh is a disgusting pig. And that insults pigs. That said, I think he should keep running his mouth on the radio 3 hours a day. He is the head of the GOP. They all bow down to him. So, keep Rush talking. He's pissing off a whole new generation of young women - and men - who probably won't vote for the GOP's knuckle-dragging candidates. Keep talking Rush. You're the best voice ever for the election of progressive candidates.
ReplyDeleteIt's time to take him out using his sponsors like we did to Beck. Remember this man is using PUBLIC AIRWAVES to defame and abuse fellow Americans. He should be taken off the air!
ReplyDeleteHe can't function as a normal man. Why would he have Vigara in his Possesion that 2x stronger than normal? what was he doing with this why is this covered by insurance? But birth co ntrol is wrong? I'm sure rush'd wasn't pd for atr that instance, because he had them in his possesion in a different name ( like anna Nicole?) But it's okay for him to do it????

ReplyDeleteGeorgetown University law student Sandra Fluke — who Rush Limbaugh called a “slut” — revealed to MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell that President Obama had contacted her. “He encouraged me and supported me and thanked me for speaking out about the concerns of American women and what was really personal for me was that he said to tell my parents that they should be proud,” Fluke divulged. “And that meant a lot because Rush Limbaugh questioned whether or not my family would be proud of me. Speaker Boehner Denounces Limbaugh ‘Slut’ Comments: Obviously ‘Inappropriate’
ReplyDelete...Fluke responded to Limbaugh’s comments on the The Ed Show Thursday. “I guess my reaction is the reaction a lot of women have when they’ve been called these names. Initially you’re stunned but then, very quickly, you’re outraged because this is, historically, the kind of language that is used to silence women, especially women who stand up and say that these are their reproductive health care needs and this is what they need,” Fluke observed. “And what’s been amazing to me today is the outpouring of support. Everyone from members of Congress to Georgetown faculty to so many women who’ve contacted me, and I think it’s clear from what they’ve said that they’re not going to be silenced by this.”

At 61 years of age, the hunk of blubber AKA Rush Limbaugh is still that insecure adolescent that enjoys putting down women who either disagree with him or whom he deems as "loose." As sickened as I am by his recent and previous remarks, I am equally sickened by the men and women who actually voice agreement with his regressive, insulting remarks about female sexuality and their assumptions that women who use birth control are promiscuous. This girl stands head and shoulders above his sorry tail, with all the class, intelligence, and dignity he sorely lacks.
ReplyDeleteSandra Fluke Receives Call From President Obama After Rush Limbaugh 'Slut' Comments
ReplyDeleteThe call came a day after conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh demanded that Fluke release tapes of her having sex in exchange for the contraception that she argued should be covered by employers. Fluke was set to go on MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell Reports when the president rang her on her phone. She took the call while waiting in the green room.
"He encouraged me and supported me and thanked me for speaking out about the concerns of American women," she told Mitchell, who received permission from the White House to discuss the exchange between Fluke and Obama. "What was really personal for me was that he said to tell my parents that they should be proud. And that meant a lot because Rush Limbaugh questioned whether or not my family would be proud of me. So I just appreciated that very much."
Fluke appeared to be choking up a bit while recalling the conversation. But she composed herself and went to discuss how surreal her experience has been. After being declined the opportunity to speak on a congressional panel to debate the president's contraception rule, she was subsequently invited to address Democrats on the topic. For that, she was vilified by Limbaugh, who also compared her to a prostitute. On Friday, several leading Republicans, including House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), condemned the remarks. The call from the president put a capstone on the week.
"He did express his concern for me and wanted to make sure that I was ok, which I am," she said. "I'm ok."
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/02/sandra-fluke-obama-rush-limbaugh_n_1316631.html
Officials at Georgetown University came to the defense of Sandra Fluke on Friday, criticizing radio host Rush Limbaugh for calling the third-year law student a "slut" and a "prostitute" after she spoke out on birth control insurance coverage.
ReplyDeleteJohn DeGioia, president of Georgetown, sent a letter to students and faculty praising Fluke's congressional testimony. "She was respectful, sincere, and spoke with conviction," he wrote. "She provided a model of civil discourse. This expression of conscience was in the tradition of the deepest values we share as a people."
In contrast, DeGioia had harsh words for Limbaugh's attacks on Fluke, saying they "can only be described as misogynistic, vitriolic, and a misrepresentation of the position of our student."
At Georgetown Law, 137 professors and staff members have signed a letter in support of Fluke. "As scholars and teachers who aim to train public-spirited lawyers, no matter what their politics, to engage intelligently and meaningfully with the world, we abhor these attacks on Ms. Fluke and applaud her strength and grace in the face of them," the letter says.

ReplyDeleteObama Backs GOP Into Limbaugh-Shaped Corner
ReplyDeleteWith one phone call, President Obama has forced the Republican candidates for president into a 'Sophie’s Choice' with potentially far-reaching implications: Do they stand up to Rush Limbaugh, who made divisive comments about a law student this week, or do they stand up for a highly influential conservative leader who’s embarrassed the Republicans who’ve crossed him in the past?
http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/03/obama-backs-gop-into-limbaugh-shaped-corner.php?ref=fpb
It’s not just advertisers who are upset with Limbaugh. House Speaker John Boehner’s spokesman called the comments “inappropriate.” House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi called Limbaugh’s remarks “obnoxious” and asked House Republicans to repudiate Rush’s tirade. Georgetown University President John DeGioia praised Fluke’s testimony and called Limbaugh’s comments “misogynistic, vitriolic, and a misrepresentation of the position of our student.”
ReplyDeleteThen President Obama weighed in on the issue, calling Fluke moments before she appeared on MSNBC. Obama thanked Fluke for speaking out about the concerns of American women and told her that her parents should be proud.
But Rush isn’t backing down. On his radio show Friday, Limbaugh defended his controversial comments, blaming Democrats for making the birth control issue political. “The Democrats need these planks to scare voters about the Republican Party,” Limbaugh said on his show. “Contraception is the replacement plank for abortion in the Democrat Party platform. That’s what’s happening here in a political sense.” Rush added that Fluke should be embarrassed that Obama called her.

However, the fall-out in the wake of his comments did not stop Limbaugh from making more attacks about Fluke on Friday. "She was not allowed to testify because it was not about women at Georgetown who have so much sex they can't afford birth control," he thundered.
ReplyDeleteHe said that her speech at a press conference served to show that "she's having so much sex she can't pay for it, and we should."
Fluke had testified about the reproductive and broader medical reasons for birth control, and cited the cost. Limbaugh said she was having "$3000 worth of birth control pills worth of sex."
He described her testimony from his perspective. "So the woman comes forth with this frankly hilarious claim that she's having so much sex -- and her buddies with her-- that she can't afford it," Limbaugh continued. "And not one person says, did you ever think about maybe backing off the amount of sex that you have?"
He said that his comment about a sex tape was merely him "illustrating absurdity by being absurd," imploring his critics to "lighten up."
Limbaugh also reacted to President Obama's call to Fluke. Obama told Fluke that her parents should be "proud" of her. Limbaugh had a different message for them. "I'd be embarrassed," he said. "I'd disconnect the phone. I'd go into hiding."

Another Advertiser Pulls Out From Limbaugh's Show
ReplyDeletehttp://www.buzzfeed.com/rosiegray/another-advertiser-pulls-out-from-limbaughs-show
House Democrats have raised more than $1.1 million and collected almost 500,000 signatures with their "war on women" campaign, in just over a week. Now Senate Democrats want a piece of the action.
ReplyDeleteThe Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee launched an online petition on Thursday to rally supporters to denounce conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh for his attacks on Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown law student at the center of the contraception debate raging on Capitol Hill. Limbaugh called Fluke "a slut" and "a prostitute" for testifying before Congress in support of employers providing coverage for birth control. On Friday, he demanded that Fluke release tapes of her having sex in exchange for the contraception that she argued should be covered by employers.
"This is misogyny, plain and simple. And it must be called out. Will you sign our petition and stand with us against these vile attacks?" reads the Thursday email signed by DSCC executive director Guy Cecil. "Personal attacks on a student -- and all women -- simply can't be ignored. Stand with us, and denounce Rush Limbaugh’s vile attacks. Send Republicans the message that we’re not going to sit by and take it."
Senate Democrats also cast Limbaugh as representative of what the Republican Party has become. Their email features a picture of his face over the words: "Rush Limbaugh: The GOP Mouthpiece." It then links out to a petition that urges supporters to call out misogyny when it happens, "especially when it comes from a mouthpiece of the Republican Party."
The petition has already collected 100,000 signatures in less than 24 hours, the fastest the DSCC has ever collected so many signatures, according to DSCC spokesman Shripal Shah. On top of that, the DSCC has also purchased online ads on Facebook, Twitter and Google to draw in more people to its petition. The ads are expected to run for a few weeks.

Enough is enough. It is time for Rush Limbaugh's sponsors to stop supporting his hate speech through their advertising dollars.
ReplyDeleteSign the petition today, and send them a message. And make sure to spread the word. "Share" this on Facebook, and use the hashtag "#BoycottRush" on Twitter.

Whatever prompted Obama to make the phone call, the politics here couldn't be better for him or his party. The president has now taken the side of — and massively elevated — a sympathetic young woman testifying on the side of a debate that Democrats think they're winning. And now that Obama has weighed in, one imagines pressure to do the same will grow on his Republican opponents — opponents who would probably rather not feud with Rush Limbaugh.

ReplyDeleteI've written and called all the companies listed, and I've written to Apple because they sell apps for carbonite and other companies, voicing my disdain. I hope this campaign works better than the one against Glenn Beck.
I'm proud of this young lady and the many women and men who've supported her, especially President Obama. Rush has no clue how much he's helping get our President re-elected.
