What if they waged a war, and nobody showed up?

From Indiegogo:

My name is Ronny, I'm 41 years old. I'm a father, a teacher, a Graphic Designer. I'm an Israeli citizen and I need your help.

Lately, in the news, we've been hearing about a war coming while we the common people are sitting and watching it coming like it has nothing to do with us.

On March 15th, I posted a poster on Facebook. The message was simple. Iranians. We love you. We will never bomb your country.

Within 24 hours, thousands of people shared the poster on Facebook, and I started receiving messages from Iran.

The next day, we got featured on TV and newspapers, proving that the message was traveling. Fast.

Please help us prevent this war by spreading this message. make your own posters , send this message to your friends and share it.

We are raising money in order to produce more posters and keep the movement grow.

thanks to all of you for your support and love.

may we prevent this war.

ronny edry

When I first watched this beautiful video it made my eyes tear up so much I was unable to type anything about it. It quite literally took me several days to make myself sit down and post this.

Such a simple concept to tell your leaders, and the people they want you to fight, that you are too filled with love to cause harm to ANYONE.

Just imagine how many wars we could prevent if we simply reached out, after circumventing our politicians of course, and communicated with these other countries, one human being to another.

And you know what? We live in a time where that is possible.

As Mr. Edry has so eloquently demonstrated.

That war hawk Netanyahu and his buddies in power are just itching to bomb Iran, and drag us into it. Meanwhile, they are making the oil companies awash in cash with all their bloviating about war. Did they learn nothing from the ten years we have spent in Iraq and Afghanistan ?

Wow, that is impressive. Our self-named Christian GOP waarmongers (and the blue dogs) could learn much about the religion they plan to shove down America's throat with a shovel from this man, who clearly understands the message of jesus far better than any domionist. Where can I donate?

This man is an inspiration and an example of how one good teacher can change the world. We need MORE Mr Edry's in this world.

This is his site, there's a donate button

The entire site is well worth reading.

You know they're an actual movie titled "Suppose They Gave a War and Nobody Came?"

Regardless, this young man understands what's important. Good for him.

OT, but there is a photo at the Mudflats of Sarah and Trig(?) in a grocery store. The story is about traditional Alaskan dress, and shows Sarah in one, but the interesting part is that the baby is sleeping and she is, again, not supporting his head. I cannot beleive this woman had four children and never learned to support their heads (or dress them properly, for that matter.) Anyway, the bundle she is holding looks smaller than the baby posed with Sally and Chuckles at the hospital.

'War' take many forms. Here is how one woman is taking on the 'enemy'.

Lauren Zuniga performs a poem for the Oklahoma legislators that continually propose anti-choice legislation. The bill referred to here would require women to receive an ultrasound and listen to the baby's heartbeat before an abortion. It is still being challenged in court. Since 2010, various other bills including, "No Fetus in Food" and "Personhood" have

Yes, I had that slogan embroidered on my hip hugger bell bottoms a few decades ago.

But on another front, Gryphen, could you do a post on this, please.

Sick in what way? Roe vs Wade gives them the right to choose. They would have chosen an abortion, but they were misinformed. They love and are keeping the kid, and deserve the money needed to give her the best possible care. They'd deserve the award if they put her up for adoption as well.

Or is it the perceived sex of the parents? Ariel is a name that applies to both men and women, as if that matters.

Expose the shadowy people who want this and every war - ask yourself, "Who stands to gain from whipping up support for a war with Iran?" Which companies will make enormous profits from a conflict using their weapons of war? Who will gain contracts to staff, manage, supply and finance a war effort? Someone you know works for such a company - "out" them - shine a light on them on social media - they prefer to operate in the shadows while their paid politicians and pundits tell lies to scare people into an angry crowd.

The majority of the American people want war with Iran. If they want to prove that isn't true then they have to make themselves heard. They won't.

    2. Along those same lines, there is also the question...Who are the people who don't want to legalize marijuana? Who stands to gain enormous profits from the illegal trade? Who stands to profit from imprisoning people? Who needs to keep our people poor and uneducated? Probably a lot of the same names on that list. It's always a case of follow the money with these shadowy backers. Fortunately, we are beginning to shine a light on all of this. It is only the beginning. We need to keep pushing on these issues.

  10. It reminds me of that video that people added to that featured people saying they are sorry to Iraq. Perhaps we need such a thing for Afghanistan. I, for one, am so appalled at what Robert Bales did. He is NOT my hero. I'm sorry also for what the army asks soldiers to do.

No apology to Iraq will ever be good enough. Could Hitler have apologized? The crimes against humanity are of the same nature even though the scale of the crimes differs somewhat. In neither case can the guilt ever be erased.

As a Canadian, I share the guilt for the first war against Iraq. Saying sorry can never erase the evil we stand guilty of.
      luv from Canada.

The people by themselves are powerless to stop a war. Most likely a nuclear war, supported by the US. It's up to Obama to stand against it. It's up to all Obama's supporters to make it clear to him that they will support him if he says no to war.

And that won't happen. The only hope is that Obama is stalling until he is re-elected, then he could say 'no' to war without suffering politically. It's just too much of a risk to remain silent any longer.

    3. I don't think that people are powerless ( though it may seem that way) if they make the prospect of war as politically unpopular as possible.

Anion 10:00 AM... The US has not talked of going to war. Don't make up stuff.

Israel is the one who is talking attacking Iran.

    5. Anonymous1:48 PM

How can you possibly say the US has not talked about going to war and keep a straight face? Of course the threat has been voiced when the nuclear option was not ruled out by Obama. Of course the threat of war exists. And when or if it comes then you will be standing behind it and supporting it too because Obama is your party's president. And you will find ample and satisfactory justification and wll will be well in the land of the gun.

If Israel starts a war then it will be backed by the US. If the US makes it clear to israel that it's on it's own then Israel won't start a war. Israel will start a war and americans will scramble to justify it.

      The bullshit stops here!

I did not see that video, but I have often wanted to apologize to the people of the various middle eastern countries for the terrible things this country has done.

Nice, but here's a little reality. Obama could unequivocally say no to war if he wanted to. He won't because it's not politically correct and would cost him too much in support. The sad fact is, the American people are in favour of bombing Iran.

Lay the blame at the feet of the religious right for supporting the pro-war propaganda. Fine! But also lay the blame on Obama for not having the courage to break the vicious cycle of war.

It's his call to start with. If, from then on the congress forces his hand to war then the sides have been drawn and the situation is clear. If he doesn't stand against the coming war then he has no credibility worth supporting.

That's how you cut through the bullshit and the beating around the bush. Clear enough?

Make no mistake Americans, when Obama gives the go ahead for the war there will lots who will come. And they will gleefully come and their hearts will be full of war because they will believe in what they are going to do is good and the right thing to do. So support your fucking troops, support your fucking troops, and you will be just like them. They will come and you will follow them and support them in every way.

Do you stand behind your conviction that he won't start a war with Iran? Or are you just shooting your fucking mouth off with your false courage and bravado?

If it's made to look like Israel started the war then will Obama keep the US out of it? Of course he won't and that will be the perfect justification for the US going to war again. And you will have your phony justification you so crave.

Or in other words, appearances will be all that matters. There will always be some way of holding them up so you americans can stand behind your president! But we know how it all works now so it's only going to work in your own american minds. Like Iraq worked for you right?

Thank you for this. I put it on my Facebook page. Suddenly I do not want to watch anything more about Sarah Palin or anyone silly, self-centered or hateful. I only want to focus on people being at their best and most beautiful. Another wonderful video is on Youtube and is about the 9/11 boat lift from Manhattan. All of these things lift our hearts. We need to remind ourselves of the positive and the goodness and the best of what it means to be human.

Thank you so much for this post, esp after the Palin one....doesn't this really sum up the difference? I don't believe in organized religion..something I totally agree with Bill Mahr, this is what the golden rule means, what a perfect way to send this message. It is simple, direct and from the heart and it's this social media movement that is growing more and more day by day. The young people of the world that this is enough, what an amazing amount of good can be accomplished, the money and effort towards war, leaving generations behind...its time.
