Faux GOP outrage of the day. Somebody said something true, and Ann Romney pretends her feelings are hurt.

"I dare you to say anything that can be perceived as negative about me."
Courtesy of CBS News:

Ann Romney started a Twitter account on Wednesday evening to respond to a comment from Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen, who said that the wife of the presumed Republican presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, was unqualified to speak about the kinds of economic issues facing women in America because she had never "worked a day in her life."

Rosen, appearing on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360, called Mitt Romney "old fashioned when it comes to women." She said the former Massachusetts governor was learning about the economic plights of the fair sex through his wife, Ann, who has been meeting with women regularly on the trail.

"His wife has actually never worked a day in her life," Rosen said on CNN. "She's never really dealt with the kinds of economic issues that a majority of women in this country are facing in terms of how do we feed our kids? How do we send them to school? And why we worry about their future."

A short time later, Ann Romney responded by opening a Twitter account, where her new profile reads, "Mom of five boys. Grandmother of 16. Out campaigning for @MittRomney. #Mitt2012." She sent just one tweet that said, "I made a choice to stay home and raise five boys. Believe me, it was hard work."

Rather than backing down, Rosen herself then took to the social media site, responding directly to Ann Romney with a series of tweets:

Hilaryr: @AnnDRomney I am raising children too. But most young American women HAVE to BOTH earn a living AND raise children. You know that don't u?

Hilaryr: @AnnDRomney Please know, I admire you. But your husband shouldn't say you are his expert on women and the economy. #HeNeedsMore

Okay now I think it should be apparent to ANYBODY not trying to score political points here that Hillary Rosen is ABSOLUTELY RIGHT on this issue.

She never denigrated Mrs. Romney's role as a home maker, she simply pointed out that it does not give her credibility in this day and age to be used as a sounding board by her husband to understand women's issues in 2012.  In today's world Ann Romeny's ability to choose to be a stay at home mom is the exception, NOT the rule.

And the thing is the Romney campaign KNOWS this!  They are simply using this as an opportunity to distract the public from the fact hat Mitt Romney is a very robotic like individual who does not seem to understand ANYBODY not sitting beside him in a country club in a Caribbean Island somewhere.

Hell, Ann Romney signs up for Twitter JUST to address this "attack" on her lifestyle choice. Could anything be more transparent than that?

But hey, I don't blame the Romney campaign and the Republicans, what else do they have to work with?

But this is the part that pisses me off!

The impromptu Twitter battle provoked responses from both the Romney and Obama campaigns - all through twitter. Romney senior adviser Eric Fehrnstrom called Rosen an "Obama adviser" and said her "new kill Ann strategy" had insulted working moms. And although Rosen is only a supporter and not affiliated with the Obama campaign, two top Obama officials - senior strategist David Axelrod and campaign manager Jim Messina - both distanced the campaign from Rosen's remarks through tweets of their own, with Axelrod calling the comments "inappropriate and offensive" while Messina called on Rosen to apologize.

Later on even Michelle Obama tweeted support for Ann Romney.

"Every mother works hard, and every woman deserves to be respected," Obama, a former corporate lawyer and mother of two daughters, wrote in a Twitter message today.

This constant knee-jerk reaction by liberals to turn on each other the minute that a conservative claims they have been wronged by one of us is really fucking irritating!  Rosen did nothing but point out the obvious, and she gets railroaded.

On the other hand when Herman Cain was under accusation for being a sexual predator, with plenty of proof to make that case, the "party of family values" rallied around him like he was the paragon of virtue surrounded by a drunken lynch mob.

Liberals need to get a thicker skin and develop the ability to stand their ground when the GOP starts to manufacture some bullshit outrage over nothing.  I am tired of watching us apologize for telling the truth or pointing out uncomfortable facts.

I am sure Ann Romney is a very nice person. An expert on women's issues?  Not so much.

  1. Miss Ann has multiple sclerosis and 5 kids, she is a stay-home mom who has never worked outside the home.

She has never had to deal with calling in sick from work, then worrying about losing her job over it.

She has half a billion dollars and servants to help raise her kids.

She has NO CLUE how most American mothers manage their families. She is as out of touch as her husband and needs to stop whining.

Ann Romney claims that horseback riding is great therapy for her MS. Unfortunately, most people with MS are lucky to have their medication barely covered-- with nothing left over for horse riding therapy. Ann's wealth affords her the best medical care, traditional and alternative medicine, not to mention horses that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, stables, appearing in dressage events. Ann says that horseback riding gives her a purpose in life. I'm glad that it makes her feel better and relieves stress. However, most people do not have the luxury of Ann's expensive therapy.

So, dear Ann - you have FINALLY found your voice - and all it took was a personal insult to YOU! And your husband finally allowed you to speak!

Hilary Rosen insulted you?? - yeah, I had to deal with idiot women like her when I was staying home and raising my son, too, while my husband was the bread-winner; SO WHAT?? WHERE is your outrage for the hungry children??? the homeless children??? the children who have lost mothers to breast cancer because there was no money for treatment??? You want people to have compassion for YOU becasue your feelings were hurt?? - sorry, Annie, we are too busy worrying about the poor, the homeless, the sick, the invisible population to worry about your hurt feelings!

Well, now that you have found your voice, and you have shared with us all that you are an M/S sufferer and a breast cancer survivor, as well as a stay home Mom, I must ask you something:

WILL YOU BE USING YOUR NEW FOUND VOICE to advocate for working mothers who would LOVE to spend more time with their children but can not because they must keep a roof over their heads and food on the table and clothes on their back???

WILL YOU BE USING YOUR NEW FOUND VOICE to advocate for women who do not have insurance but also have breast cancer, or are in need of a mammogram, and who will die because they do not have the money to pay for their care???

WILL YOU BE USING YOUR NEW FOUND VOICE to advocate for M/S sufferers who have no way to pay for the doctor visits and the meds they need so that they can have SOME quality of life with their own children???

WILL YOU BE USING YOUR NEW FOUND VOICE to advocate for the children of women with breast cancer, the ones whose mothers have DIED due to lack of healthcare available to them???

WILL YOU BE USING YOUR NEW FOUND VOICE to advocate for women's healthcare, in general, since you are so keenly aware of the needs women have when it comes to staying healthy for their children and their families??

WILL YOU BE USING YOUR NEW FOUND VOICE to advocate for for the hungry children, the sick children, the homeless children, the invisible children of America since you have come forward with a passionate defense of yourself, as a Mom??

You are outraged because someone insulted you?? - SO FRIKKIN WHAT??? - when you advocate for the children of parents who are experiencing what you live with, yet have no resources for help, only then will your outrage be WORTHY of consideration - til then, do us all a favor and go back to sitting in the backseat of your husband's campaign - where he has placed you from the beginnning. YOU are NOT an example to AMERICAN working mothers and families!!

Oh no another so-called "gaffe" that repubs will whine about. They have a serious problem with the truth and facts. Ann Romney IS lazy. FACT. Ann Romney has never had a job. FACT. She has never worked a day in her life. FACT. Remind you of someone?

    ReplyDelete
  3. My mother always said being a housewife and mother was the "hardest job in the world." I believed her when I had kids and stayed at home with them. But then I went to work and realized that she was wrong, and had only said that because she'd never worked. Being a stay-at-home wife/mother all her adult life limits a woman's perspective. She really can't relate to most women today until she has to juggle the needs of a family along with the demands of a boss, deadlines, family, budget, etc.

Also, one needs to consider that Romney probably employes housekeepers, so even Ann Romney's assertion that her work is "hard," is suspect. I'm sure she can't even relate to today's lower to middle class stay-at-home moms, let alone those of us who work.

Most of us women today work not just because we want to, but because we HAVE to. Our issues aren't a whole lot different from the issues guys face in terms of economic concerns. So why Romney needs his wife to interpret what women want just shows how ridiculous he is. It's not like he can't just ask a woman. But maybe he doesn't want to trouble our pretty little heads with all those questions.

I think as time goes on, average voters will realize that both the Romneys are pretty out of touch. They need to stop trying to pretend they understand, because they don't. They never have. And they never will.

Ann is a big liar when she says she knows what the world is like. I do as I lived that life as a child, eating hot dogs and mac and cheese because we could not afford anything else. Seeing my parents both work two or three jobs so we could eat. Knowing I'd have to take out loans to go to college since we ate the money my grandparents set aside. Stupid bitch knows NOTHING about struggle except to fit into her dressage clothes after having too much green jello with marshmallows.

  6. This is the comment I wrote on Huff-Po:

“Ann fails to see there is still a HUGE difference between being a stay at home mother when your husband is a multi-millionaire,compared to the stay at home mother married to the average working class husband. She wasn't called out for being a full-time mom,she was called out for being a full-time mom that never had a paying job outside her mansion home. I think being a mom is the toughest job there is,and one that never fully receives the appreciation it deserves. As someone who was a full time stay at home mother when my children were young, who became the full-time working outside the home single mom after my divorce,I would have to say I agree with the assessment that Ann has never had to face what the average mom faces. Instead of blasting someone for calling her out, perhaps she should have had the grace to say "Yes,I was luckier then most mothers,in that my husband had the financial means that allowed me the choice to stay home with my children." That would be a more mature and honest answer,as opposed to playing the victim role that she is doing now.”

You're a fucking hypocrite, like Mitt Romney. Mitt Romney never condemned Rush Limbaugh for his comments about Sandra Fluke. Hillary Rosen told the damn truth, get over it! Ann Romney has never had to work to earn a living in her life! Oh, and the Right always attacks Michelle Obama, and the democrats hardly ever say anything, and there is certainly never the same kind of faux outrage in the media, either. But of course, it's O.K. to attack the "uppity" black woman, but it's a sin to tell the truth about a rich, white woman! President Obama, and Michelle, always ignore the attacks, and move on. They don't ask for an apology, and they don't play the victim. At least President Obama doesn't have to use his wife to score cheap political points with women, unlike Mitt Romney. This non-troversy has no legs. Mitt Romney is a desperate dip-shit. So are you.

the hardest thing I have done in my life is be a mom while working full time. My daughter was a scholar athlete in high school. She decided for junior and senior year she only wanted home cooked food - NO processed food - and need high protein high carb meals. I worked 40 hours a week, cooked all day Sundays, spent Saturdays at track and cross country meets and did laundry every single night. Now that she is away at college I feel like I have some of my life back! I would have loved to have been able to stay home and take care of everything without spending 40 hours a week away from home. But both my husband and I work, we never could have afforded the education we provided our daughter if I had stayed home. Hillary is right. Ann Romney has no clue what it is like to live from paycheck to paycheck while raising a family.

When I need help juggling my many homes, I'll find someone like Ann Romney to advise me.

Mitt "etch-a-sketch" Romney has so many political flaws, that Mary the mother of Jesus couldn't help him. Expecting so much of Ann is abusive.

If Mitt continues to say that his information on women's political needs comes primarily from his wife, then Mitt is just underlining his complete inability to govern this country.

No woman should be subjected to criticism for her choice of child care option. But Ann Romney is going to learn REAL soon that she is a liability to her husband's campaign. The ungodly riches she enjoys should not be flaunted. Ann Romney might be even more prone to "rich foot in mouth" disease than Mitt himself (a feat).

I look forward Ann Romney being shut down by the campaign and relegated to smiling/nodding role ala Cindy McCain. It will be a treat watching Ann, mute and smiling, doing "hard work" for the first time in her life.

Ann Romney raised five boys like Martha Stewart gardens, "Jimy, move that oleander here, and Juan, hand that mega basket of petunias there."

    Ann Romney "raising" five boys:

Meal planning: What shall we have for dinner,Cook? Do thaw that lobster."

Household chores: that's right Mitt, Jr. You must always be sure the help waxes the lawn mower before they drive it onto the storage shed elevator. And if you bathroom isn't clean, call the upstairs maid, not the downstairs.

Getting the kids to school: Chauffeur, drop me at the barn for my dress-ahge lesson then go to the prep school. And reverse that order this afternoon.

Schools: let's see which school should the boys go to - why the most expensive one, of course. and of course you can be on the polo team, it's only another ten thousand per year. Daddy will just not pay that bet he made.

Date night: nanny, put them to bed. And if Willard, JR calls from boarding school, forward it to my cell as a text, opera, you know.
    =============
Then there's the REAL SAHM life:
Damn, guess it's Prego again because I have to work late. And stop at the grocery store on the way home. Maybe hubs can pick up Billy from baseball.

Household chores: Ok, son, you wipe this floor down really well, no, don't waste that many paper towels, they cost money, use a sponge and wash it out.

Careful with that lawn mower, here's how you sharpen the blades, we can't afford to send them in. And try to get done before we head to the garage sale for some new jeans for you.

Getting the kids to school: Ok,on the bus so I can get ready for work - are you sure you'll be OK if I leave first? Hey, hurry up in there five people in one bathroom- means 2 minute showers. Did Jr. get back from his paper route yet? Gotta remember to start the crockpot. Hope the old clunker starts today, it was making a funny noise last night, but at least it's paid for. Hope it doesn't break down - can't be late; the boss is an ogre, and would fire me no matter the excuse - then where would we be?

Schools: Well, you can go to the local, it's closest, I know the magnet is better, but that's ten miles away! Yeah, the local is a bit too big or too crime ridden - OK we'll manage to get you to the magnet somehow. You want to play soccer? but that another $75 bucks. OK, I'll work some OT.

Date night: Hey honey - can we drop them off at your sister's? Busy? How about your folks? not feeling well? Darn. Yeah, yeah, sorry I'm an only child and my folks are dead. NO, I didn't call the sitter because we can't afford a sitter and movie tickets.

Hilary Rosen was right - Anne Romney hasn't worked a day in her life not even as a stay at home mom.

I think the main reason for the quick response from the Obama campaign is that one of the biggest things the President has going for him is a giant gender gap. Polls this week showed him with a 19 point lead over Romney with women. Romney has been running around all week saying that 93% of jobs lost during the Obama Administration were held by women. The claim is ridiculous and nobody believed him.

With one short sentence Hilary Rosen opened a door for Romney to attack back. Certainly, everything she said was true but can't you just see Mittens spending the next 7 months at meetings and rallies asking "How many of you ladies are stay at home Moms?" Hands raise around the room. "And how many of you don't consider that a job?" Laughter and boos ensue.

Rosen has no connection to the campaign so it shouldn't be a big deal. But you know the Republicans will exploit it because that's the kind of bastards they are.

This is a non-story. Mitt Romney won't be able to drag this out until November. There will be some shiny new object that distracts the media, like always. This is non-story could be old news, by Monday. The Sandra Fluke controversy was worse, and even that has already run out of gas in the media. Most people want to talk about the issues. They don't only want to hear, "Barack Obama hates mothers!" for the next seven months.

One of the reasons the Sandra Fluke controversy lasted longer, is because Rush Limbaugh, and the rest of the Right continued to attack her, and Rush Limbaugh refused to apologize. Hillary Rosen has already apologized, (even though she did nothing wrong) therefore, there is nothing left to talk about. Plus, Mitt Romney will likely say, or do something stupid, as usual.

This is just a distraction from the Romney campaign. It is Mitt Romney's anti-woman policies that matter in the end, not what some mostly unknown democratic pundit on CNN says. It will be interesting to see if Mitt Romney supports his "hero" Scott Walker in the recall election. If he does, the democrats will pounce on him, and attack him for supporting Scott Walker's anti-woman agenda.

This "poutrage" from the Romney campaign just reeks of desperation. Mitt Romney isn't smart enough to talk about the economy, and other issues that effect women, or tell women what he would do better, so he has to shout out to the world that, "President Obama hates mothers!"

      Pathetic.

Hilary Rosens choice of words was unfortunate, but the sentiment was exactly right, nd if the Romney campaign has any vision, they would not have jumped on this train so quickly. The Ann Romney backlash has already started. How can a woman who spends over $100,000 for a dressage horse (who has too many to count)to help her with her MS therapy even begin to relate to the average stay at home or working mother? Ann Romney got married and pregnant while still earning her MRS. degree and never had to deal with a shitty job she hated, calling out and missing a days pay because one of her kids was sick, getting fined by the daycare because she got stuck in traffic and was late to pick up her kids, or making a choice between food or gasing up the car until payday .

Bitch, please. Cry me a river and get over yourself. If Ann is the best female surrogate the Romney campaign has, they better find someone else. No one gives a shit about someone claiming victimhood who goes home at night to her stable full of horses, five housekeepers and two Cadillacs .

I guarantee Mrs. Romney hasn't laid awake at night wondering how to make the mortgage payment or worrying about paying for schooling for her children. I don't see how she can understand how the female members of the 99% deal with their personal economic issues.

Thank God! The IMers get it. I've been so angry over this crazy battle and the cable news people are handling it like it really matters. As you've said, Hilary Rosen was speaking the truth, and you have to hear the next sentence to complete the thought. The Reps. are always screaming about being quoted "out of context." This is a perfect example of that.

  21. Ann Romney...WEALTHY ENOUGH TO CHOOSE!

    That's EXACTLY what the Romney's don't get.

Ann could CHOOSE to stay home while the average mom, 5 kids or not has to go outside the home to work as well....AND 6 weeks after giving birth!

And come on Ann...you have always been wealthy, so you would have had diaper service, housekeepers, nanny's, cooks, live in help...whatever you wanted!

Ann your whole LIFE has been about being wealthy enough to "choose".

Ann you were born to wealth, went the best private schools and later Harvard, your husband WIllard has TWO degrees from Harvard.

And it's TRUE..you have never worked a single day in your life, not ONE paycheque..nor before OR after you were married and had children.!

Ann you would not have had to change a diaper, feed a child, spend one SINGLE SLEEPLESS NIGHT, wash a diaper of do ANY laundry for that matter, clean your home, grocery shop, cook, chauffer your children to their private schools, or extracurricular events, you wouldn't even have to help them with their homework...YOU could CHOOSE to hire a tutor!

That is PRECISELY the difference between the 1%, the Romney's, and the 99% , the REST of us........wealthy enough to CHOOSE

BOTH Ann and WIllard Mitt were born to wealth, they were STEEPED in it.

Even HRH's Prince WIlliam, Prince Harry in fact the entire monarchy...any ONE of them have spent time in places, offered their persona; services to the poor and disenfranchised around the GLOBE.

Willard was a missionary in FRANCE, was educated while there and can speak French fluently..TO AVOID THE DRAFT FOR THE VIETNAM WAR!!

"Ann Romney became First Lady of Massachusetts, a position she held through January 2007. In that role, she generally kept a low public profile; in 2006, The Boston Globe characterized her as "largely invisible" within the state (although by then she was becoming more visible outside the state, due to national appearances in connection with her husband's possible presidential campaign).
In 2005, the governor appointed his wife as head of a new special office whose purpose was to help the state's faith-based groups gain more federal monies in association with the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives."

Just HOW does any of this qualify Ann to know bupkiss about the economic issues of most Americans, ESPECIALLY women's economic realities and concerns?

NEITHER Romney has EVER extended themselves in a personal meaningful way, to the harsh realities of any poor, sick or unfortunate, in FACT Willard used his missionary status to AVOID the draft.

Sitting on boards for charities and throwing money at them does NOT count.

They have never so much as dished out a Christmas dinner, or any dinner at a shelter... such an easy thing to do.

NEITHER of the Romney's are able to appreciate just how the 99% have to live and they NEVER WILL........BECAUSE THEY DO NOT WANT TO!

I agree Gryphen - Dems too easily turn on their own and I have to say -- Michelle pissed me off with her tweet. It's one time I wish to say -- STFU Michelle. Siding with Romney -- just showed her weakness and I'm not impressed. Just took her down some points in my books.

Ann Romney went on Fox to declare that she made the choice to stay home, while other women make other choices. Then, Ann should also respect women who make the choice to use contraception even if Ann doesn't believe in it. She should respect any and all of women's reproductive choices, whether it is to have in vitro fertilization (even though the Catholic church disapproves of it). There are other choices regarding women's reproductive health, and Ann Romney should support all women have the right to make the choices in their lives.

Mitt Romney needs lots of kerfluffles like this dust up about Ann's "work" to cover for the fact that he is laughably inconsistent. For example, here's what happened in 2008,

Mr. Romney faced students at Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire who grilled him on gay marriage.

“I’ve never been an advocate of gay marriage; I’ve opposed gay marriage and civil unions,” Mr. Romney said during a long soliloquy. “Now, at the same time,” he continued, “I’m against discrimination.”

The audience burst into laughter at the seemingly irreconcilable positions, which prompted another circuitous explanation from Mr. Romney.

      What's the big deal?

Sarah Palin was pregnant and NOT PREGNANT at the same time!

      Let's see Mittens try that!

While Mitt Romney was in France promoting Mormonism, he was working for a church that restricted blacks from rituals that would lead to "higher salvation".

    So what?

Well, swap a few things and you get: Barack Obama was in a church that restricted whites from...

See how easy life is for Mitt Romney because the media coddles him. Issues that are simply dismissed for Romney would be explosive for Obama. And that fact is exactly why Ann Romney is getting "apologies" and "support". It's because Mitt Romney will always be given the gentle handling by the media.

Barack Obama is too smart to derail on Romney's idiot distractions. Barack Obama will fight for, and win the presidency because he will keep the focus on ISSUES. Romney can only muddle along trying to not get caught in the flip-flop.

This is what the Democrats should say: "It is wonderful that Ann Romney has been able to afford to stay home, own two of her own Cadillacs, and ride horses. If the rich Republican business owners, you know the guys that create jobs by using their obscenely low tax rates and who covet even lower tax raters, were to pay each of their employees a living wage so that one spouse has to work one job to support a family of 7, then halleluia!

    From the washington post 3/23/2012

Ann Romney already has one champ in her household: Rafalca, one of her many dressage horses. The U.S. Equestrian Federation confirmed this week that the 15-year-old mare and rider Jan Ebeling (Romney’s riding partner and trainer) have been selected as one of two pairs to represent the U.S. in next month’s World Cup finals.

    -----

Off-hand I would guess that this horse of Ann Romney's is not an inexpensive horse. A World Cup class dressage horse costs a lot more than a car elevator for the garage. Oh, and I notice Ann is said to have "many" horses. It must be quite a "struggle" keeping them all in oats.

The Romney campaign is hoping Ann Romney will be the humanizing smoke screen for robot Mitt. Well, good luck with that.

I didn't appreciate Ann Romney's use of the words "I chose" at all. It's just another way of saying the old Republican talking point disparaging women for not "choosing" to stay home with their kids. No matter how horrible their policies are for the economy, it's always the struggling American citizen that's to blame, not the Republicans. They take no accountability, and I can see Mrs. Ann Romney is cut from that exact cloth, too.

By the way...WHY DIDN'T ANN ROMNEY STEP IN AND RESCUE SEAMUS FROM THE ROOF OF THEIR FAMILY CAR!!!!

Oh man, I can't wait until someone asks her that to her face.

This is so ridiculous by the repubs. Where was their "outrage" over fat ass Limbaughs remarks? And Palin calls dems hypocritical? The Obama campaign immediately denounced Rosen's remarks, even though they ring true in the context she meant them.

I loved the call to Romney Campaign about if they support the Lilly Ledbetter Act - "ummm we'll get back to ya on that!

This whole thing is bullshit, and everyone knows it. Hilary Rosen made an apology on CNN, crickets chirping from Mrs Romney. So we know it'll stay a non issue on Romney's part. Ann would have been nuts to choose to work outside the home.

I've worked before I got married and since then. We have bills to pay, a mortgage, etc etc just like everyone else. I planned my family according to the quality of life my husband and I want for our kids. We could have bought a larger/better home, but chose to live in our modest home for a reason. We know our neighbors, our kids go to a decent public schools, it's easy to maintain, we can save for our kids education, and our mortgage is reasonable.

My parents lived in a time where families could make a life on one paycheck, yet my Mom chose to work outside the home. She did it because she liked the challenge, she contributed to the family, and people used to bash her for working, making fun of my dad, as if there was something wrong with him. Damned if you do Damned if you don't

The difference with Ann is she's the one percent, and has no clue on real women's issues, or doesn't seem to care.

I have to applaud single parents out there, it's the hardest job in the world, and they seem to make it look easy.

    Well, well - from CofP

"Romney tried to prop up his wife in order to get "The Women's Vote" by telling his supporters that he gets his "economic advice" from his wife. Hilary call out Romney on why he would get his economic advice from someone who never had a job. That is fair point."

    And 7 people liked this.

It reminds of the one time I found myself agreeing with something said by Jesse Helms. It's both surprising and just a bit creepy. :(

Yes, stay-at-home Mom and working Mom are different, and both are hard, and both deserve our respect. Both have major (if different) issues.

WAAAAAAAAAAY bigger than the difference between those two categories in this: The Mom who has financial security and the Mom who does not. The world of financially stable folks is just light years from those who are near the edge. ESP when you have children. This is true emotionally, in practical terms, in terms of fighting hopelessness and exhaustion and panic. Even though Mitt bragged about getting a pink slip in his career, neither he nor Ann had to feel that gut-wrenching terror re no income and possible homelessness ahead.

If she is supposed to speak up for the women of America, can she tell me when the last time she went shopping at a grocery store or a Target/Wal-Mart/Costco?

When was the last time she personally choice which brand of toilet cleaner to buy (looking at the shelves in the store)?

Did she even ever buy her own tampons? I mean, come ON
