According to former Navy Chaplain homosexuality is the result of "gay demons" which can also possess animals. Oh, well that explains...wait what?

Former Navy Chaplain, Gordon Klingenschmitt, who founded lobbying group The Pray In Jesus Name Project, appeared on a progressive talk show this week to criticize President Barack Obama’s endorsement of same sex marriage.

This is the rather startling exchange he had with the host David Pakman:

“The problem is, nobody’s born a homosexual,” he said, explaining that all gay people are converted via “marketing” because the LGBT community “has an agenda” to “repopulate their population by recruiting the children of heterosexuals.”

Klingenschmitt added that “anyone who’s studied” genetics knows that homosexuality is not an inherent trait, simply because LGBT people aren’t capable of reproducing and passing that genetic trait along. Though Pacman didn’t immediately challenge it, that’s a claim as bizarre as it is untrue, as scientists have long known homosexuality can be attributed to genetic traits and many LGBT people have reproduced thanks to the help of platonic opposite sex partners.

“That’s what this whole marketing scheme for pro-homosexual movement is all about,”

Klingenschmitt insisted, reiterating his point about repopulating the LGBT community.

That’s when Pacman hit him with the science on homosexuality in the animal kingdom.

“Let’s step back for a second, Gordon, and say okay, let’s assume you’re right that homosexuality among humans is only because of marketing,” Pacman countered. “What about in the 4,000 other species that have homosexuality? Because, as far as I know, they don’t have TV. They don’t have advertising. They don’t have the iTunes store to recruit people. How is it that humans are gay sometimes because of marketing, but 4,000 other species… Why? Is it something else?”

“It is entirely possible — we know from the Bible, for example, when Jesus cast the devil out of Legion, he went into a herd of pigs,” Klingenschmitt said. “So, it is possible for demons or the devil to inhabit or invade animals just the same way they invade humans, and that causes the sin of lust.”
Picture of gay demon. For you skeptics out there.
“So, what you’re saying is, in humans it’s marketing that makes people gay; in animals, it’s the souls of gay humans who have invaded the animals,” Pacman replied. “That makes them gay?”

Klingenschmitt laughed and scratched his temple. “Well, I think you twisted what I’m saying there,” he said.

“No, I don’t think I did,” Pacman responded.

Backpedaling, Klingenschmitt explained that he believes marketing to be “related to the demonic, because the devil wants to recruit people into sin.” He added that even Pacman himself was being used by the devil to promote “the homosexual agenda.”

“I don’t promote homosexuality any more than I promote being tall,” Pacman deadpanned.

Man there is SO much stupid in this exchange that I almost don't know where to start.

Essentially there is literally NO way to reason with a person who views social change, biology, and sexuality through the prism of Biblical superstition.

No matter which carefully researched, and scientifically sound facts you were to introduce, this individual would simply discount them because he sees the world as a child sees the world, broken up into simple categories of bad vs good, evil vs non-evil, and satanic vs godly.

With those definitions in place, especially as this person clearly sees himself as an instrument for for spreading the message of good, there is no way to communicate the ridiculousness of their argument.

Now Klingenschmitt is clearly a nutjob, but the rationale he uses to justify his seemingly insane world view is not THAT dissimilar from the one used by a large number of devout Christians to view the subject of homosexuality.

Take a look at this Facebook rant from a Kansas middle school social studies teacher:

"All this talk in the news about gay marriage recently has finally driven me to write. Gay marriage is wrong because homosexuality is wrong. The Bible clearly states it is sin. Now I do not claim it to be a sin any worse than other sins. It ranks in God's eyes the same as murder, lying, stealing, or cheating. His standards are perfect and ALL have sinned and fallen short of His glory. Sin is sin and we all deserve hell. Only those who accept Christ as Lord and daily with the help of the Spirit do their best to turn from sin will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. There aren't multiple ways to get to Heaven. There is one. To many this may seem close minded and antagonistic, but it doesn't make it any less true. Folks I am willing to admit that my depravity is just as great as anyone else's, and without Christ I'd be destined for hell, if not for the undeserved grace of God. I'm not condemning gay marriage because I hate gay people. I am doing it because those who embrace it will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. And I desire that for no one."

In other words homosexuality is just as much of a sin as murder. Now keep in mind that this is a man who teaches in the PUBLIC SCHOOL system, not a Christian school, and who has influence over the developing young minds of prepubescent children that have no idea how illogical his point of view is, or how out of touch it is with the way the world is changing.

And undoubtedly SOME of the people he has influence over are just now becoming aware that THEY themselves might be gay. Imagine how quickly those kids will stuff themselves back into the closet, and slam the door, when surrounded by this kind of insane homophobia!

I know that I sometimes take heat for challenging the Bible, or taking Christianity to task, but considering that it is where these people find their"facts" to support their disgusting point of view and their inspiration to attack people who do not fit their interpretation of normal, what choice do I really have?

I mean gay demons possessing animals, really?

One big reason why gayness is skyrocketing among both humans and animals is because the xenoestrogens in all the chemicals we are exposed to affect the hormonal levels and functions of the body. For example, giving your infant son soy formula is the approximate estrogen equivalent of giving him 5 birth control pills. The babies are further exposed, in their mothers' wombs, depending on what xenoestrogens their mothers are exposed to: cosmetics, building products, fertilizers in foods, toxic air, etc. These chemicals have pervaded, and exist, even under the polar ice caps and in the bodies of animals there – some of which are now also showing altered sexual orientation and behavior (with some animals now being born as hermaphroditic), as well as physical sexual changes in their sex organs. Male humans are also showing such changes: the number of penal hypospadias is skyrocketing, as are the instances of male breast cancer. The environmental poisons are not only killing us (both quickly AND slowly), they are causing sexual alterations and even sexual defects that are, understandably, altering human sexual behavior. IF any christian is really serious about changes in human sexual behavior, they should also be ardent about environmental sex-altering pollutants. But sadly, the christians seem to be the first ones who mock those who would want to do away with these life-altering chemicals. If you look around at many of the teen boys today and see how different (much more feminized) in appearance many of them are than boys born, say, 70 years ago, you will understand what I am saying, and you will be compelled to conclude that, yes, they WERE born that way, and it is, collectively, our fault.

None of the foregoing is a value statement about homosexuality. It is merely an attempt to educate people that human political and personal (ie, what chemicals, cosmetics, foods you choose to allow in your life) choices are affecting not only us, but the future generations after us.

Actually Anony 8:35 he is right. Estrogenating elements are all over our environment. If you microwave food in plastic, you've just put estrogen-mimicking chemicals into your food. Most of the waterways in the U.S. are seriously contaminated with massive amounts of pharmaceuticals from our waste streams - both by discarding of unused items as well as what we are flushing down the sewers from our own bodies. Industrial milk products are full of rGBHT, a chemical that causes cows to make more milk for longer times, and causes females to hit puberty earlier, and is also causing feminist-traits in males. All this information is readily available through a host of environmental health web sites.

I do not eat any soy that isn't organic. I do not allow my son or husband to use plastics when microwaving food. We live in an area that has a pure water source (something that is getting increasingly rare in our world). We strive to eat pure foods.

If you don't think that this is a problem, you are seriously mistaken.

      Delete
    3. hedgewytch9:36 AM

I should also add that while these chemicals are causing problems with male/female development, hormone balance, etc. the estrogination of our environment only adds to the issue, it does not take away from the fact that many LGBT individuals have a genetic predisposition for the sexual trait.

This does not take away from the fact that there have been homosexuals from the beginning of time. I think the fact that gays aren't afraid to be who they are anymore makes it "look" like there are more.

I suspect that there have been just as many babies born with atypical sex organs now as in the past. Don't beat me up but I really suspect that babies born like this turned out to be born "dead" because people though they were possessed, deformed, etc. Much easier to pretend they don't exist if they don't "survive" childbirth.

I've read articles and seen documentaries about the environmental/chemical/hormonal effects of plant and man made estrogen equivalent materials. All fat tissue absorbs it, but the female breast tissue itself is especially effected and has been linked to the increase and changes in forms of breast cancers as well, causing more aggressive estrogen suppression during treatment.
Breast Implants are currently being studied more closely (by doctors and scientists) to see if they add to the effect.
At any rate, it also explains a phenomenon known as "man boobs".

Having studied biology, pharmacology, psychology, sociology, obstetrics, pediatrics, etc in nurses training many years ago, I learned the basics of what makes us tick! Let's just say little boys have an excess of progesterone in their "system". Little girls have an excess of estrogen in theirs. When we are born, the first thing noticed at birth is if they have a penis, or do not have a penis and we go from there. Pink and blue. This division happens when the sperm meets the egg. As we all know, not one of is exactly alike unless we are identical twins and even then, the level of hormones can make a difference. One of them may be a little smaller or larger in stature. We all know about those chromosome counts! Well, the hormone counts make us who we are too. It doesn't matter if the testes are on the outside and ovaries are on the inside, if the "count" is off we will act different. Our physical, mental and emotional development is controlled by these little hormones. Some of us are born with real Belmont girls some of us ain't! Some of us are born like Charles Atlas some are Barney Phifes. Most look just like you and me..ordinary. Some of us like to hunt and fish and others want to have babies. Our outcome happens the second those cells divide. When we hit puberty these hormones go crazy making us adults and we act accordingly. We have no say in the color of our eyes, shape of our ears and noses, color of our hair or skin or the length of our bones. We will be a mixture of both parents and our ancestors but if the mixture of our hormones is screwed up we can look, act and feel different from the "normal". It tells us our destiny of who and what we like sexually. Will we be warriors or pacifists, sensitive or bullies, loving or hateful, sweet or hateful or pass as normal with feelings different from others of our sex. No amount of praying will make us any different. It's how we want to feel mentally that makes the difference. Society tells us how we should act but our feelings tell us what makes us happy. When those who want to "come out" make their feelings known, I think they know they will not be accepted by everyone. It makes things uncomfortable for those around us. Once we learn to accept this as "normal" perhaps we will have a better world. It frightens many to be around anyone who is "different". Our society is built around heterosexual people. People on the extreme ends of the scale feel threatened and try to find excuses for not accepting anything but strength and weakness as how these "abnormal" people need to be treated so they aren't a threat to them. If you don't fit into their ideas of conformity then you will be cast out and you are not allowed into their world. Man/Woman as a unit to marry and have children and the man having total control over all of them. Be it religious believes or power to control those under them, I believe there will always be conflict do to their hormonal levels and what they have been taught. The haves and have nots....Democrats and Republicans...us verses them. We believe what we have been taught...good or bad. We were never promised a rose garden. We will just have to take one flower at a time and hope people will wake up soon.

The answer is simple, and given by the school teacher (if his argument is taken to its logical conclusion). He states that homosexuality is a sin, just like lying, cheating or stealing. Since gay people marrying promotes sinful activity (because one partner will influence the activities of their partner and/or children), it should follow that anyone who has ever lied, cheated or stolen should not be allowed to get married.

We would not want those sinful behaviors celebrated or passed onto another generation. While we are at it, anyone who eats lobsters, clams, oysters, or any other non-approved seafood should also be prevented from getting married (must throw bacon in there also).

If you continue through the list of things in Leviticus that is considered unclean, I think we will rightfully see that no one should get married, as we are all sinners based on the rules in the bible (and the teacher admits this).

He seems to claim that seeking Jesus' forgiveness will allow any of these 'other' sins to be forgiven, but he does not explain why the same cannot be true for homosexuality.

So if gays cannot be allowed into heaven through Jesus Christ, no one else would be able to, and thus should not allowed to be married and risk the soul of others who they may convert to their bacon eating, lobster and clam consuming ways (and don't get me started on fabrics with multiple blends).

You know if these people are going to preach, then they should have to practice what they preach. If one this sited in the bible is bad, then all of the things sited in the bible should be equally bad.

    Just sayin.

And in case it is not obvious, I gave up Christianity years ago, when I was told that if you were camping on a Sunday (away from a church), it was not good enough to sit in quite contemplation with your bible under a tree. You had to actually be in a church building, or it did not count as worship.

My God/Goddess would not require a person to be inside on a beautiful day.

An Open Letter to Bristol Palin (and a beautiful smackdown, to boot!)

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/john-becker/bristol-palin-bullying-vi_b_1525740.html

    Hey, Bristol,

I'm so sorry that you felt bullied by some of the abusive comments that were left on your original post. They are indeed awful and inexcusable.

That said, welcome to the world that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people live in every day. In fact, according to an exhaustive analysis of FBI hate crimes data by the Southern Poverty Law Center, LGBT people are at a greater risk of being targeted for a violent hate crime than literally any other minority group -- more than two times more likely than Jews to be attacked, 2.6 times more likely than African Americans, nearly 4.5 times more likely than Muslims, almost 14 times more likely than Latinos, and 41.5 times more likely than whites. In large swaths of our country, gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender youth are regularly teased and beaten up for who they are (or who their peers think they are), all the while living in a culture that shames them into silence. Many of them have homophobic parents or guardians, so they can't even turn to the people who are supposed to love them unconditionally. LGBT youth are four to five times more likely to attempt suicide than their straight counterparts, because of the malicious bullying and crushing hatred that they're surrounded by every day. I should know: I attempted suicide myself at age 16. ...

In closing, I must submit an important correction. You wrote about the "younger generation" in the context of abortion, then continued in the same sentence about how "voters just keep defending [so-called] traditional marriage." If you meant to imply here that the "younger generation" -- our generation -- supports the continued exclusion of loving same-sex couples from full civil marriage equality, you are wrong. No, incredibly wrong. In fact, you couldn't be more wrong: Repeated polling consistently proves that our generation overwhelmingly believes that every American deserves the freedom to marry the person they love, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. You're free to hold any views you like, no matter how bigoted they are, but you are not free to misrepresent the truth. And the truth is that when it comes to marriage equality, the jury is in -- and you've lost. The anti-gay mistakes of our parents' generation (anti-LGBT marriage discrimination amendments, laws that marginalize and persecute the LGBT community in the areas of employment, housing, etc.) will be fixed by our generation, if they aren't rectified even sooner than that. Despite your own personal homophobia, ours is not a homophobic generation; your anti-gay views are already a minority view among your peers. The day will come, very soon, when the loving marriage (of six years and counting!) that my husband and I enjoy will be recognized from coast to coast, and our nation will be the better for it. My hope for you is that someday you'll be able to stop your homophobic bullying, let go of your own bigotry, and come to embrace your lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender friends, family members, and fellow citizens as equal Americans and full human beings.

Excuse me? What were the scientific facts he used to back up his THEORY? This is what I call the dumbing down of Christianity, and it gives the intelligent Christians a bad name. BTW, high IQ doesn't necessarily mean intelligent.

O/T -- There is still hope!!

"Shorter University's 'Personal Lifestyle Statement' Which Bans Gay Employees Leads To Faculty Exodus"

The university is located in Georgia. There remains only 12@ of staff -- usual staff of about 100. Students too are leaving.

"A Georgia college's controversial "personal lifestyle statement" which includes rejecting homosexuality has led to an exodus of faculty members.

Inside Higher Ed cites an anonymous survey which found that a mere 12 percent of the faculty said they planned to stay at Shorter University, a 139-year-old Baptist school located in Rome, Ga. In addition, more than two dozen staff members had already resigned before their new contracts -- which included the "pledge," condemning homosexuality, premarital sex and public drinking -- were even distributed."

I only had to write about your conversation, I did not have to actually speak to this lunatic.

You did a great job BTW.

    2. Just what I was thinking. I've gotten to the age that I won't put up with ANYTHING hateful/bigotted/hypocritical/etc, from ANYONE.

Hmmmm. Wonder why I don't have any friends anymore. -:)

Mr Packman, you exhibited a lot of patience and professionalism to even hear this guy out. All too often these bigots are allowed to spew their sound and fury to a camera or mic without ever being challenged on their views to see if they even understand what they've just said--- just like he says YOU were twisting his words. Good job here.

  31. My husband had two questions for this brilliant chaplain. One, did the farmer whose pigs Satan entered have them exorcized? And two, if the chaplain eats pork, is he now possessed by a gay demon?

I'm sure he's possessed by something!

Well, surprisingly this idiot doesn't sound all that unusual. On a missions trip one of the youth group leaders told the kids that the older people who had Alzheimer disease must have been into some seriously whacked out craziness (devil worship, etc.) earlier in their lives. You know, because we all know that Alzheimer patients are devil worshipers, atheist, etc.

And you wonder why my whole family are no longer christians. Hmmmmmmmm, I wonder;)

Yeah, it just COULDN'T be anything we have been doing to alter the environment or our industrial 'food' supply.

The current right-wing hatred of science reminds me of the ancient pagan religious belief called gnosticism. I would describe gnosticism in lay terms as: 'just trust me: I KNOW (intuitively, in my gut, etc) such-and-such to be true; and don't bother me by presenting me with contradictory facts. And furthermore, don't investigate the facts, because I am your supreme leader, and what I "know", I will pass on to you as truth.' Gnosticism-tinged christianity is a belief system that relies much more on experience and 'feelings' than on facts or truth (or scripture). As a result, it is effectively an emotional-based belief rather than a spiritually-based belief, even though it is cloaked in spiritual terms.

But it IS true that marketing causes homosexuality

...take Bill O'Reilly, for instance, I believe Bill said that watching Glee makes HIM want to suck cocks and have guys do him in the butt. (I guess he called it "experimentation".)

And Michele Bachmann's husband - he believes that if he doesn't pray every stinkin day that he'll go homo - and by God I believe him!

It breaks my heart, too, cause my sister - married for 50 years, mother of 3, grandmother of 6 - watches Ellen Degeneres every once in a while so it's just a matter of time for her, I reckon.

Gryphen, if you think for a minute that animals aren't receptive to demonic marketing efforts you are sadly mistaken. Now, I'm not sure if all marketing is the result of satanic influences but I'm generally inclined to believe that it's so. (I'll have to read up in the bible when I get a chance and give you an authoritative answer later. Much, much, much later...)

But what I can tell you for a fact is that my cat is constantly leaving copies of Skymall 'magazine' where she knows I'll find it with little post-it notes stuck on the stupidest products she finds compelling and wants me to buy for her.

For example, she wanted a Pretty Kitty cordless Ear Hair Trimmer. $89 plus shipping!!! Believe me, I felt VERY stupid when UPS delivered that ridiculous thing to the house. And I feel even stoopider using it! On the cat, I mean. And then there was the time she HAD to have an ExecuCat Hair Ball Organizer. $56!! Who organizes hair balls? I told her the hair balls go in the garbage where they belong but... you know that look cats can give you. Sigh. I just cut back a little on my medication that month and it worked out ok.

Most of her demands are food or grooming related because, let's face it, she's smart, vain, sneaky and a sucker for a good sales ad, but she's still just a cat. What's she going to do with an Underwater Cellular Phone system anyway? Hell, I bought one and I don't even use it!

So, in conclusion, yes, Satan is definitely marketing homersexuality to animals. (And stupidity to right wing xtians, also, too)

Your comment is quite funny. Thank you.

      :)

PS ... I'm house sitting someone's six precious monsters, I mean their cats, over the July 4th weekend. If I see any SkyMall catalogs, with notes attached to them, I'm not giving in to the cat borg.

Without having read the comments yet, I have to applaud Pacman for his factual smack down of this disturbed taxpayer funded bible thumping ignorant homophobe. So the bible says the devil was cast into a pack of pigs and that's his reasoning for homosexual animals?

Dare I take his argument to the next logical step and say that the link was made when a straight man had sex with a pig and passed the "bug" to his wife?

Does this "enlightened" man of the cloth not realize the same "God" he "believes" in created the people he's deriding as "Sinful as murderers"?

Please let this guys family give some medical explanation for his behavior, like the family of the "P-E-N-I-S" lady?

So we have two examples of "Your Tax Dollars at Work" in one thread. I feel badly for the soldiers and students FORCED to listen to these vile people.

They both should lose their jobs, and all churhes should pay their fair share in Taxes.

The guy is citing the bible as being immutable fact. It ain't. The fundies do that all the time. They believe the bible to be inerrant, ergo, any who are in conflict with their reading of the bible are wrong.

      Nice and simple.
