President Obama has an enthusiasm problem. Apparently in some alternative reality.

They’ve got nothing… even the hard core Republicans around me have shut up since they know I’ll bring up Lord of the Flies, Bain and Seamus.

Well, they have to tell their 'bots SOMEthing. It isn't like the people who hate this President pay any attention to facts, or real news accounts. After all, if Fox shows them an empty soccer stadium in Brazil and says that was the President's current event in Miami, no one calls them out on it. If they show a poorly attended Tea Party rally in Knoxville and say that it's a 'failing' OWS rally in Pittsburgh, who knows? Oh, yeah, the leaves on the trees say the one was fall and the one they say it is was yesterday, but golly, that requires some higher level thinking only taught in public schools and some 'elite' universities. Remember how irate they were in 2008 when he was talking to thousands of excited people in Germany? I'm surprised they aren't running that footage with "The New Adolph?" in 16 point black letters under it. I mean, they wouldn't even have to fake a German sign then. I realize the GOP can't just give up now, but the people at the top do know where they are headed in November...off a cliff. And good riddance.

    O/T

I have friends visiting a relative for a wedding in the UK who sent me a twitter message and pic of them waiting for the Olympic Torch to run through the town this morning. I found the site to watch the run/drive of the torch and thought it was great to watch as I knew the sign they were holding from the twitter pic. So strange to be able to see that quick glance of the sign live knowing who was holding it and knowing it was thousands of miles away!! It's also interesting watching some of the towns. The old buildings, etc. and driving on the wrong side of the road!!! All this while drinking coffee in my PJ's!!

Get used to it, it's gonna get so much worse.

They will drive any lie, negative narrative or blatant misinformation into the ground on the right, FOX and evangelical venues to get this successful 'black' man out of the position of power he is in.

I'm seeing it especially on Politico, but I'm also starting to see it on Mediaite with their more conservative writers, HuffPost is a joke and of course you can count on FOX and Rush and the rest of conservative radio heads to spin up the most ridiculous frenzy over nothing.

Latest is trying to smear the president with his pot smoking history, like it's a big deal, even though HE is the one who forthrightly revealed all of this in his book.

If we don't stay on top of this, like Obama Diary and Adult in the Room, it is easy to feel despondent and acquiesce to the negative narrative. BUT WE CAN'T or this country will disappear as it once was, as it had been throughout my lifetime of nearly 60 years. We must be vigilant, alert to propaganda and lies, alert to the push the media will make to demonize our president any way they can to soup up the idea of a 'close' race.

Do your homework, KNOW the issues, KNOW the history of the administration so that you can push back at every opportunity that is presented to you.

Send links of Obama Diary and other pro Obama sites with articles, videos and Tweets that correct errors and call out the perpetrators (I find this is particularly worthwhile in the comment section where you find all sorts of push back Tweets and article links). Also you find videos that are unfiltered, just the President speaking, so you can form your own point of view, rather than listen to the drone of the pundits.

This does work. I recently sent some links I found there to a right wing distant cousin and surprisingly, she then forwarded the links to her email group as correcting some misinformation she had sent me.

Snopes is your friend to get to the bottom of viral emails, just copy and paste the subject line into Google, or any part of the viral email, and voila, up pops Snopes telling you if it's true, false or undetermined. I have busted HUNDREDS of emails this way that are spreading lies and conspiracies about our president.

And, believe it or not, I have actually earned the begrudging respect from my distant cousin for consistently providing facts and figures and correct information, rather than high pitched emotional crap and outright lies that are sent around in these emails. I've even gotten her to agree to FORWARD me these emails FIRST to qualify them, before she blasts them out to her email list. So far, not one of them has stood the test of truth and she is beginning to see them for what they are...propaganda and BS and how racist and hateful they are trying to pump up people's fear and resentment.

It's a tiny step, but it's what I can do, so I am.

Maybe not such a tiny step.

Every email that you debunk may seem insignificant, but if your cousin sent them to her email list and every one of them sent it to their email list...and on...and on...

In the end, you may have had quite an impact of the amount of misinformation and lies being spread. Remember the 'butterfly effect' and keep flapping your wings!

I especially like to see the President with the wee ones. There's a little girl looking up adoringly at the President in this clip. Even if Romney paid a kid to show enthusiasm he or she could never fake the joy this girl's face.

Hints of Racism as the Mainstream Media Questions Obama’s Aggressiveness

The mainstream media is subtly helping to further a racist stereotype by acting shocked and even a little afraid by the aggressiveness of Obama’s reelection campaign.

Republicans Continue to Waste America’s Time With Their Obsession to Destroy Obama

All 47 pre-schoolers otherwise known as Senate Republicans of the 112th congress voted down the non-binding Obama budget the other day. They were joined by 51 Democrats, 1 Independent Democrat and heroic Vermont Independent Bernie Sanders. The 99-0 vote puzzled more than a few Obama supporters. Why would the senate Democrats go against their man in the White House? Quite the opposite was true. The Democrats didn’t go against Obama, they supported Obama in exposing their disapproval of the ploy of senate Republicans who were actually the ones to offering up a republican initiative based on a February Obama budget. Their sole purpose was to embarrass the president. They did the same thing in the house where their nonsense also failed to garner a single vote at 414-0. The Obama budget was introduced by radical right-wing South Carolina Tea Party freshman representative Mike Mulvaney.

You see these little politically prepubescent ciphers have never made a secret of their singular reason for serving in the senate and house. It’s to destroy the president. That’s it and whatever it takes to get enough dense Fox-poxed Americans to vote Barack Obama out of office, well, by God, they’ll do it.

The Republicans actually introduced a total of 5 budget proposals in the Senate in succession including the Ryan budget that passed the House in March. All of which failed and all of which contained vicious cuts for the poor and infirm and endless favors for the wealthy.

The budgets are part of the grand scheme. Make Obama look like a tax and spend socialist and the goobers will put the likes of Mitt Romney and his corporate dictators waiting in the wings into office. That’s the plan. Blame Obama for everything the Republicans are responsible for because of their refusal to raise revenues through meaningfully closing loopholes and taxing the uber-rich at a fair rate.

Just a quick look at the budget Obama would actually like to get passed. He would never think of privatizing Medicare. He would never turn Medicaid into a block grant program. What happens when the dough runs out? If you make over a quarter of a mill a year, say bye bye to your Bush tax cuts. He’s also pushing a $350 million stimulus package for the hiring of teachers and police. Or rehiring might be more accurate given red states fired these public sector employees to make the president’s unemployment figures look much worse than they were. Those are just a few budget items being denied the American public.

I just love that. When I get really annoyed with the msm, I click on "theobamadiary" site and cheer up immediately!

Last week Mittens visited West Philadelphia and a local charter elementary school. The students were polite but much less than enthusiastic. Residents waited outside their homes with signs that read "Go Home Romney," etc. Philadelphia's mayor and some members of the City Council were outside the school but Romney would not speak to them. I'm so glad that they went and that the residents gave Mittens the welcome (not) that he deserved. While in the school Mittens praised the school (which is failing state standards) and told a group of teachers that there is nothing wrong with large class sizes. Fortunately the teachers talked back. Not so much about that event on the msm. And remember Mittens went to a private secondary school where the average class size is 16 and the student/teacher ratio is 8/1. What does he know about urban realities or any realities for that matter!

A few weeks ago it was he couldn't fill an arena. There were about 3,000 empty seats. This wasn't FOX -- it was CNN.

    Really?
They neglected to report that there were about 13 to 14 thousand seats filled.

It's the reverse of Romney where they showed those sitting on the floor of the stadium that holds 65,000. From the pics revealed there were only about 1,200 on the floor and not one elsewhere.

    Faux Lite, I mean CNN.

I saw President Obama in May 2011 in El Paso Tx ( I was there on business) and thank goodness it was an outside event. People were packed in tighter than steers in a cattle car.
On a weekday, in a non election year, during work and school hrs.
And I can say that I have never seen so many young children so excited and their parents were too!

Projection and deflection from the fact that NO ONE in the GOP is thrilled having Bishop Romney as their presumptive( yes Sarah, it is a "rill" word even if it is a little long for you) nominee.
I am a transplanted yankee now living in Tx and I have yet to have ANY of my republican friends say they will vote for France Pants Mitt.
Mitt is boring, Mitt is a BISHOP in a cult, yep....Mitt has a southern issue down here.
I even know people who have told me outright that they will NOT vote for a mormon...now they may not vote for President Obama. But they are starting to look at what he has accomplished ( sorry about a second big word in the same post Sarah), But think many of them will just not vote at all this november ,which is fine by me.

I had a lot more enthusiasm for Obama in 2008 than I do now, and I might not have voted for him then if McCain had made an intelligent VP pick.

Neither those who think Obama can do no wrong or those who think he can do no right are thinking objectively. The Patriot Act needs repealing, the changes to FISA need repealing, Gitmo needs to be closed, and he lacks an understanding of how small business really works. That he is a nice family man with a sense of humor who has an obvious rapport with kids isn't enough.

However, he and Biden have been much better than the alternative would have been and he's much better than his current competition, so he'll get my vote this time, too.

I can't vote for Mitt, because even he doesn't know where he stands anymore, and he's poised to help the far right drastically roll back women's rights just as we are finally getting close to true equality. A woman who has no right to choose when, or if, she will get pregnant, and no right to make her own informed health care decisions, is nothing more than a slave. I'm also not certain that we wouldn't see MItt aiding and abetting the far right in eroding the separation of church and state and equal rights and justice for all.

Mitt has no more experience actually running a business day-to-day than President Obama has, and lacks both understanding and empathy for those of us not in his income bracket, so he has less to offer than our current president, who, if re-elected, might actually get around to those things I'm unhappy with him for not having done yet.

As important as it is to reelect President Obama, it is equally important to give him a Congress that will actually function as intended.

He has accomplished a remarkable amount of work in his first term, especially considering the Republicans who have obstructed him every step of the way, even on legislation they previously supported or even proposed. There is still much to be done and imagine how much more he could accomplish if he had Congress behind him.

It would also be helpful if some of the RWNJs at the state levels could be voted out so they don't undo everything the federal government is trying to get done.

I was born in 1965. One of my earliest memories are of the space flights, and the Watergate hearings. I distinctly remember watching Nixon's resignation speech and being told to remember this day of shame for our Country, how important it was to be an American and vote - and vote wisely. That must have been the beginning of my political interest.

And of all the President's that I have seen come and go since then - this is the only President that actually brings tears to my eyes. And its not that I blindly worship him, not at all to the contrary, I don't agree with quite a few of his less than progressive stances. But, it is obvious that he has the best interest of the people of this country at heart.

And damn, that guy can work a crowd! And he's sexy too!

  15. You know, as wonderful as it is to see Obama with children and African-Americans, the biggest treat is to see him exciting the whites in the audience. (I'm not being racist here). I'm an old white lady and it's thrilling to see him with MY generation. I worked for and voted for him in 2004 in Illinois and met him several times. He is just incredibly charismatic. (Of course, so's the Big Dog, who I've also met.)

The thing about Obama is that he is so thin but you can tell he's incredibly strong in a very tensile way.

    GoBama2012/GoCongressionalDems2012!

By the way, I hope I haven't jinxed anything, but I've already got my flight to DC and hotel room and hopefully I'll get tickets again on the Senate lawn for the Inauguration. If not, my kids and I'll just hang out on the Mall with everyone else. Last time we had good standing tickets but I think the people on the Mall, with the Jumboscreens probably saw better than we did on the lawn!

I loved this clip because it shows the groudswell of support for our President. I watched the usual main stream news shows, the republicans are still yakking about high gas prices having a real impact on everyday people, when gas prices have lowered recently (though no fault of President Obama, nor any other President). They're still bringing up the meme that President Obama never ran a business, and knows nothing of what it takes to own and run a business like Romney. Romeny didn't run a business, he overtook businesses, made a huge profit for him and his rich buddies. Wealth creation isn't the same as job creation, and the national budget is nothing like the budget families work out over their kitchen tables. Romeney has no "Anchor"
President Obama, on the other hand, has created jobs more consistently over the past 16 months, consumer confidence is growing, and four generations of "millenials" will be voting next election, millenials are young, educated and politically savvy people who are eager to vote for President Obama.

Romney has a serious problem, he has to address his religion issue more clearly, he's meeting with Donald Trump, who's doubled down on his "birther" fetish, Romney needs the teabagger and evangelical conservative vote, and this move is going to show him in a very poor light.
The President is wise to go aggressively against Romney on the Bain issue, his state ranked 47 of 50 in job creation, Bain Capital has two or three companies still thriving, but through no influence of Romney's whatsoever.

The enthusiasm is genuine for the President. Romney had to do a speech in front of a huge american flag because the stadium was virtually empty behind him.

He has my vote again, not because he can do no harm, not because he's a "rockstar", but because he made it despite monumental odds, never forgot where he came from, and knows who he's working for. Could he do more? yes. Is he committed and passionate for his country? Hell Yes.

Thanks for posting that video, Gryphen.

My enthusiasm for Barack Obama is at least as high as it was 4 years ago. We can't compare him to a magically perfect dream candidate who doesnt exist. He can only be compared to the actual nominee of the opposing party. And in this case, (shudder) Mittens is no better - and in some ways dangerously worse - than Good Ol' Gramps McCain.

This country can not afford - and perhaps can not survive - an unchecked and unbalanced ultra-conservative government.

    Obama2012. Forward, indeed.
