Mitt Romney, the "Out-Sourcer-in-Chief."

"Okay what the hell? Are they planning on looking at ALL of my record? Even the parts we told them not to?"
Courtesy of Politicususa:

After the Washington Post blew the lid off of Mitt Romney job creator claims, the Romney campaign responded by not denying the fact that he is the outsourcer in chief.

Contrary to the Romney job creator narrative, The Washington Post analysis found that, “Bain played several roles in helping these outsourcing companies, such as investing venture capital so they could grow and providing management and strategic business advice as they navigated this rapidly developing field.”

The Romney campaign responded by disputing the article, but not the facts themselves. Romney campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul said, “This is a fundamentally flawed story that does not differentiate between domestic outsourcing versus offshoring nor versus work done overseas to support U.S. exports. Mitt Romney spent 25 years in the real world economy so he understands why jobs come and they go. As president, he will implement policies that make it easier and more attractive for companies to create jobs here at home. President Obama’s attacks on profit and job creators make it less attractive to create jobs in the U.S.”

Actually, The Washington Post article is based on research of SEC disclosure forms that reveal that Romney was instrumental in moving American jobs overseas. The Romney campaign didn’t bother with disputing the facts and research in the article. Instead they adopted a Clintonesque ‘it all depends on what the definition is’ parsing of outsourcing versus offshoring.

So riddle me this Batman, how does ANYBODY have confidence that a guy who made money by sending jobs overseas, will somehow know how to CREATE jobs in America?

Once again, if Romney plans on running against Obama's "poor" record creating jobs, where is the proof that HE can do a better job?

Seriously, don't bother looking, there IS none!

He could always change the scope of his accomplishments to reflect reality, (I'm sorry, real world economics) in that he is a wealth-creator for the the 1%.

Priorities USA Action, the super PAC supporting President Obama’s reelection campaign, released a new television and online ad Saturday, part of the PAC’s continuing series of spots targeting projected Republican nominee Mitt Romney’s record at Bain Capital. The one-minute long ad is tough, telling one man’s story of the job he says he lost at the hands of Bain. The spot is running on television and online in Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia, part of a $10 million campaign to target Romney in those states.

This week, we got a real good look at Romney economics.

His big tax cut for millionaires would result in middle class taxes increasing. To boost his political fortunes he is urging GOP governors to talk down the economy and root for failure. And despite campaign rhetoric challenging China, while at Bain, he was a trailblazer when it came to investing in companies that sent American jobs overseas. Is this a problem, absolutely.

The centerpiece of the Romney argument to be president is his experience as a business leader. Well, past is prologue, and if Romney relished sending jobs overseas to turn a profit once, what assurances do we have that he won’t do it again as president? Make no mistake, Bain is the gift that keeps on giving for the Obama campaign. No one should be criticizing them for talking about Romney’s past as a Chief Executive Outsourcer.

Not only is Mitt Romney an outsourcer, it appears he's an outsourcing pioneer.

Mitt likes to talk about the jobs he created at Bain, but he rarely tells the whole story. The fact that he not only shipped jobs oversees but fostered the industry in it's infancy should be alarming to the millions of voters whose jobs he helped ship oversees. The GOP has long supported and encouraged outsourcing so it's no surprise they chose a founding father of outsourcing as their standard bearer. Mitt has some explaining to do.

Romney's flip-flops work better on a Hawaiian beach than at a Ohio factory line.

You can't predicate an economic message based on your economic accomplishments and saying that it will protect American jobs without acknowledging that those accomplishments meant increasing corporate profits at the expense of American jobs. If the Obama campaign tracks down the companies and workers who were outsourced, they will have some very powerful campaign commercials ready for the Fall Classic.

Under Mitt Romney, Bain Capital invested in companies that outsourced American jobs? Next thing you know, they’ll be telling us that he’s an out-of-touch plutocrat worth $190 million who owns a dancing horse and a car elevator, says he likes to be able to fire people, and makes a $10,000 bet.

Romney’s predatory financial profile was written already. This story just confirms it.

It's a huge problem for Romney, whose campaign rhetoric and ads promise he will "get tough" with China.

The Post story is one of the most damning and damaging Bain stories yet, and a new Obama ad is certainly in the works. It turns out that his positions on social issues aren't the only thing that demonstrates what a flip-flopper and disingenuous hypocrite Romney is

There you go again! Trying to tie his campaign for president to his actual record as the steward of one of the mist voracious corporate outsourcing machines in modern history. The media should not be allowed to twist the words of a political candidate.

Romney promises to create jobs if elected. He just didn't say where he would create this jobs! This report clarifies that. It's overseas! One unexpected benefit of a Romney presidency will be a boost in students taking high school and college language courses, especially in Spanish, Chinese and Korean. That the kind of hands-on leadership America needs-a hand in your back pushing you into the global labor market. The new slogan two years after Romney takes office will be - "I have a job, and a passport!"

Ordinary people (defined in this context as "not beholden to Wall Street for campaign funds") have grave doubts about Romney's Bain experience, and focus groups and polls make clear that he remains vulnerable on this. In fact, the campaign to define Romney has not yet started in earnest because it's still early. But make no mistake, Bain is a major vulnerability. How well that can be exploited remains to be seen.

Romney is undefinable, even he doesn't know where he stands on any issues, but if he said it, he meant what he said.

He's an extreme conservative who fires people, flips businesses for profit, then creates jobs overseas. No wonder the Republican's love him!

A nail in the coffin is a rare thing in politics, but the Romney camp continues their pattern of completely ignoring (or not conducting) self research. They clearly have no understanding of what his true weakness is and keep playing into the frame that Romney will say whatever is needed to score political points. In general when you are writing the ads for your opponents you are doing a bad job. See: Kerry, John 2004 presidential run.

The Romney campaigns’ inability to run a smart campaign aside, President Obama’s economic record will clearly be an issue up until Nov 6. For the voters that actually matter in the big picture (undecided voters in swing states) the more Romney comes across as a pure panderer the easier it will be for Obama to win the argument that the country is better off with him in the White House rather than a guy who you have no idea what he really believes.

The question is not whether Romney is an outsourcer. He admittedly is and he has strongly defended the practice.

The question actually is whether Romney invented or helped invent outsourcing, and the answer appears to be a resounding yes on that account, too. Nobody is saying it is illegal or even bad advice when it comes to making money.

The third question, though, is whether we want a president who thinks American jobs are a distant second to maximizing corporate profits. It certainly is legitimate Wall Street advice, but is it the way we want to live? Does an American family depending on a long-held job perhaps matter at least as much as another penny or two on the quarterly profit sheet?

"Out of the blue one day, we were told to build a 30-foot stage. Gathered the guys, and we built that 30-foot stage, not knowing what it was for. Just days later, all three shifts were told to assemble in the warehouse.

A group of people walked out on that stage, and told us that the plant is now closed, and all of you are fired. I looked both ways, I looked at the crowd, and we all just lost our jobs. We don’t have an income.

Mitt Romney made over a hundred million dollars by shutting down our plant, and devastated our lives.

"Turns out that when we built that stage, it was like building my own coffin. And it just made me sick."

Yet Bain Capital, the private equity firm that controlled the Michigan-based company, continued to religiously collect its $950,000-a-year “advisory fee” in quarterly installments, even to the very end, according to court documents.

In all, Bain garnered more than $10 million in fees from Cambridge over five years, including a $2.25 million payment just for buying the company, according to bankruptcy records and filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Meanwhile, Bain’s investors saw their $16 million investment in Cambridge wiped out.

That Bain was able to reap revenue from Cambridge, even as it foundered, was hardly unusual...

"where is the proof that HE can do a better job?"

Gryphen, you've nailed it. Mittens is ALL talk.

Mittens slams Obama in every category and declares he'll do better, with hardly any specifics. And when he does offer specifics policies they are never demonstrably better than what Obama is already doing.

I predict that on Day One of the Rmoney administration someone will ask the new president about his 'jobs' program and he'll reply: "There arent going to be any 'jobs' programs. In a capitalist economy it isnt the responsibility of government to create jobs, but we will eliminate business regulations and reduce taxes on the wealthy and hope that more rewards for them will someday translate into more jobs for the less fortunate. Now, did any of you happen to see my wife's riding crop?"

Oh, if only President Obama weren't so stubbornly of mixed racial origins, Amercians could easily recognize Mitten's agenda as the cruel promise to return to the policies that created Bush's Lost Decade of rising unemployment and declining net worth of the middle class.

“We all know that Mitt Romney really, really wants to be president. But it's past time for him to publicly denounce any racist tactics that Republicans employ to keep lawful voters from voting," said Garlin Gilchrist II, MoveOn’s national campaign director, in a statement. “Romney's silence speaks volumes to the voters targeted by these suppression schemes.”

People at the top of the corporate world are not loyal to America, they are loyal to profit. SO basically, elect Romney and you're putting a traitor in office.

I wonder what kind of "policies" he'd enact to help business? Eliminate the minimum wage? Make unions illegal? Get rid of anti-monopoly laws? End regulations? Eliminate the EPA?

Basically take us back to "the good old days" when the elite few owned everything and could do/destroy/pollute anything they wanted because there was no legal recourse or oversight to protect the rest of us from their psychopathic avarice?

The Republican meme of hiring a businessman to run the government is flawed on its face:
Government and business could not be more different.

The purpose of a business is to make a profit.

The purpose of our government is to:
    establish justice,
    insure domestic tranquility,
    defend everyone,
promote the welfare of ALL the people,
and make sure EVERYBODY is free.

...at least according to the preamble to the Constitution.

Nowhere in there does it even once mention profit.

How is, say, the Navy ever going to turn a profit?
Conquer foreign nations and assume their assets?
(That didn't work out so well in Iraq.)

Besides, when corporate raiders, errr... venture capitalists take over a business they often make a quick improvement by selling off those parts of the business that are not profitable.

What's Mitt going to do? Sell off California and Louisiana to improve the bottom line?

Today's corporate business model refers to us human beings as "resources" (like light bulbs or toilet tissue).

Elect Mitt if you want to be a human resource.

If you prefer to remain a person, re-elect President Obama.

Americans Get a Bitter Taste of Who Mitt Romney Really Is

The reports this week that Romney’s campaign asked governor Rick Scott to tone down his statements heralding improvements in Florida’s economic situation because they contradict Willard’s assertions that the nation’s economy and job growth is worse than when President Obama took office are highly likely. If the reports are true, they demonstrate the height of selfishness that should send a message to all Republicans that Romney’s primary concern is self-edification at the expense of governors seeking re-election, and anyone who had a hand in improving the economy; especially President Obama.

He all out admits job sourcing overseas when he bashes President Obama for not ever having "run a business". Every link I read on this thread shows how fatally flawed his platitudes and arguments are without a real plan. If he's relying on the Ryan Plan, and "thinks" it'll get him votes, he's dead wrong.

For all the angst some Democrats express toward President Obama because "My pet peeve wasn't addressed in 3 and a half years", it's abundantly clear that his record shows he's looking at the big picture, Romney's focused on one pixel, a pixel (wealth creation for the one percent) most Americans know won't get them working again, "Trickle Down" worked so well under President Bush, that he got re-elected - go figure!
