Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Just a little something to tell that Right Wing relative of yours the next time they give you grief about being a liberal.
Good timing. I got an email this morning from a die-hard conservative moaning over the liberal tendencies he was feeling. He felt like a failure as a conservative.
I sent him a copy of the photo.
The Repubs have bastardized the term conservatism to mean "American," hence their proclivity for claiming liberals are anti-American socialists. And the Dems, on their part, have taken to referring to conservatives as heartless, albeit at a lower volume.
Of course neither one of those notions is (completely) accurate.
We find ourselves in a situation where all politicians are bought and paid for, and where self-preservation and self-interest are their defining principles. Our only choice these days is picking the candidate who lies to us the least.
Thanks, G - may have to fwd this to my father-in-law (a devoted Fox watcher).
On a related note, has anyone taken a peek at C4P's new fancy Latin header bar? "Nemo me impune lacesset" which I think means "no one attacks me without retribution" or something like that... I confess my Latin is limited to Easter and Christmas Mass usages. Is Sarah finally saying something that is the absolute truth?
Mitt Romney would repeal Obamneycare on day one of his presidency.
Oh yeah? Sarah Palin, as chief executive of the U.S. Senate there, would balance the budget in 2 years time and yank NBC's broadcast license for cari. . .chari. . .mocking her.
Socialized medicine is a Godsend. But, if bitter Republicans decide to move to Canada, there is a three-month waiting period, before Medicare will register the participant and activates, to establish that they will be there permanently.
Personally, I have always had great thorough care, no long waiting lists, as has been reported in Canada. Living in both US and Canada, all I can say is it took me 6 long months to pay back a hospital emergency visit where our catastrophic insurance had a very high deductible. This was while my family were left out of jobs suddenly and we had no employer/subsidized insurance. I understand how Americans feel the sudden panic and void, when suddenly they are afraid to travel, even go outside in the event of some accident, with no adequate health care plan. I sometimes wish, that these complaining republicans would test themselves and see how they mentally coped knowing that if their child injured themselves at school, and there was no adequate plan to cover injuries without a huge deductible. I wonder if they would pass the "test" with flying colors.
But, one thing these spoiled Republicans need to understand is that patience is a virtue, and Canadians are patient people, and they are used to sharing the load, even with their paycheques reduced significantly by higher tax exemptions. Gross earnings are easier on the eye and pocket in the US than in Canada. However, it all evens out. It's either more cash, or less cash, but more peace of mind.
So, if they have the community spirit, and sharing spirit that they SAY they are inspired by (by the Founding Fathers, and past heroes), then they would have no problem digging into their pockets without complaint to help those poor, on welfare, transients, new immigrants, and those with pre-existing conditions, because in Canada, this compassionate spirit is exercised from Pacific to Atlantic.
Some people grow up and decide to think in a more mature way. Then there is the gop, stuck in a childish mentality. Remember Jonathan Krohn? He matured.
Problem with a Theocracy, is that you are not allowed to spew your venom against the sitting leader. Other than that, the baggers would do very well in Iran since they too, hate Americans so much.
I am thankful every day that I'm not obliged to associate with far-righties simply because I'm kin to them.If I did,my life would be unbearable.
I agree that they would fit right in,in a country like Iran. The real reason they claim to hate Muslims so much is likely because deep down inside, they would like to have a theocratic, misogynist system themselves, but us freedom-loving folks are standing in their way.
Iran has a millenia-long culture, that is both deeply ingrained and respected by Iranians, and its long suffering citizen do not agree with its official policies. There is a pretty active and educated middle class too ; and there does not seem to be as widespread deep poverty as in the Red States, with a few uber-rich families.
I think a more apt comparison of conservative heaven would be with Afghanistan - militia everywhere, no central power, deep deep poverty and fanaticism, illegal drug heaven, no middle class. Of course, the respect given to local elders has no parallel in the US. Also the long history.
The conservative view of the US has no real equivalent in present history, I fear.
BUT they don't speak ENGLLISH!!!!
ReplyDeleteBut most of them do...and quite well.

So what. We don't speak Farsi(their language).
But most of them do speak English.
DAMN - That is the best ever.

I am offering to help pack up their tea bags and buy them a ticket.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to go out as my "FREEDOM DAY" message tomorrow.
Bravo!

"No one attacks me without punishment"
DeleteHow appropriate for Palin and her Palinbots to have that as their banner. Fits the whole "Sarah Palin as victim" meme. Yes, poor Sarah...
Pretty pathetic.
"No one attacks me with impunity."
Deletehttp://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/nemo%20me%20impune%20lacessit
Is is the Latin motto of the Order of the Thistle and of three Scottish regiments of the British Army.
It is also alternatively translated into English as "No one can harm me unpunished".

In Sarah's case it mean's "I'm a spiteful bitch."
I doubt Sarah had anything to do with it.
She doesn't know what "E Pluribus Unim" means.
I'm sure "Mr Anus" is so proud! "Inontinentia Buttocks of Wasilla" has commanded Rebecca of Stonedfridge Farms to "bablefish" it.

And educated himself. Unlike the gop.
This video shows there's always hope.
DeleteI don't associate with Repubs/conservatives. Fortunately for me, all my friends and relatives are Dem liberals.

If only they'd accept government handouts. The Feds could help pay their way over to their Utopia.
ReplyDeleteSantorum can be President.

There's something missing from the list.
ReplyDelete-Every household is expected to include an armoury and every male over the age of 14 is expected to have his own AK-47.
Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt's "conservative utopia" at it's best!
I don't agree with the comparison.
