The Swiftboating of President Obama. Yes, believe it or not, they are actually going to go there.

I am not usually a fan of Michael Smerconish, but I think this is an episode of Hardball that all of us need to see. Though I doubt you will like it very much.

What Jon Solz says about that birther general is absolutely correct, which you can read here for yourself:

President Barack Obama is a socialist, was raised by communists, and wasn't born in the United States, according to the former Navy SEAL who founded the group Special Operations Speaks (SOS), which aims to portray Obama as anti-military in this election season.

Earlier this week, a different group of former Navy SEALS calling themselves the Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund rolled out its campaign to criticize Obama for leaking national security information and taking what it believes as undue credit for the killing of Osama bin Laden. That group claims to be non-political.

But the founder of SOS, a similar group with the same mission and the same tactics, says he has no problem admitting that he is against Obama's politics, personality, and believes that America's current president is lying about his origins.

"I have to admit that I'm a Birther," said SOS founder Larry Bailey, a retired 27-year veteran of the Navy SEALs, in an interview. "If there were a jury of 12 good men and women and the evidence were placed before them, there would be absolutely no question Barack Obama was not born where he said he was and is not who he says he is."

So there you have it, right there is the mindset that is behind this scurrilous and hateful piece of propaganda. This POS is an embarrassment to his rank, to his service, and to his country. Obviously a man completely lacking in honor.

These Right Wingers are desperate to find something, ANYTHING to use to go after this President and they are demonstrating that there is nothing that is too low for them to use to smear him and keep him from serving a second term. Personally I am disgusted with these assholes!

And there is literally NOTHING to any of the charges made by this hateful group of military embarrassments. Here CNN addresses the charge that the President did not personally order the attack on Bin Laden:

As to the notion that Obama has taken too much credit for the bin Laden raid, well he is commander-in-chief, and it was entirely his decision to launch the risky raid on Abbottabad based on the only fragmentary intelligence that bin Laden might be there.

As Adm. William McRaven, who was the military commander of the bin Laden raid, told CNN's Wolf Blitzer last month, "at the end of the day, make no mistake about it, it was the president of the United States that shouldered the burden for this operation, that made the hard decisions, that was instrumental in the planning process, because I pitched every plan to him."

The raid decision was opposed by Vice President Joe Biden, who had run for the Democratic nomination for the presidency against Obama. If Biden had won the White House in 2008, Osama bin Laden might still be alive.

And the decision to do the raid was also opposed by Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, who had served every president going back to Richard Nixon. Gates was concerned about some kind of replay of the 1980 Iran hostage rescue debacle, which helped to turn President Jimmy Carter into a one-term president.

The notion that the decision to greenlight the risky raid was made by anyone other than Obama is just plain silly, and it was a decision he made against the advice of both his vice president and his secretary of defense.

Despite what this idiot on Hardball says there is NO doubt that this OPSEC group is nothing more than the latest incarnation of the kind of Right Wing groups that once accused Bill Clinton of murder, swiftboated decorated Vietnam veteran John Kerry, and have been accusing the President of being a socialist, a communist, and a Kenyan for the last four years. In short they are the scum of the earth, and deserve nothing but our derision.

Thank you for running this. I had made a comment early this morning on another post here immediately after seeing this scumbucket rant on MSNBC. I was so worried this vile piece of trash would get his message legitimized. So glad people pushed him until he admitted he is one of the wackos - a birther who hates even the personality of our President.

People like him are truly disturbed and disturbing.

Thank you so much for getting the message out about who and what this person and his group are all about. They deserve to be discredited. Only fellow wackos would believe them.

Did Republicans cry out to ask Captain Bane to stop that 'swifty-shifty' madness? I hear them saying Mittens was accused of murder and it is up to the President to pull the plug on that ad. They would have you believe that Mittens is accused of murder by Prestident Obama. Each ploy they use reeks of desperation.

As this election draws near the desperation of the racists in this country will become a rather constant drone. Make no mistake the tone of this attack comes directly from Sara Palin who was the first to play the race card and obviously not the last. They have been overplaying their hand and I've no doubt they will pay for it at the polling booth. They can fool and reinforce their fellow racists but there will be more people turned off by this than converted to this racist line of crap.

Did anybody ask Meghan (or Sarah or John, for that matter), their opinion on Obama's VP choice? None of those people are going to vote for Obama no matter who is running mate is, so why should we listen to them? Why should we listen to them anyway? Sarah Palin is a moron, John McCain is a doddering fool who chose Sarah Palin and continues to try to justify that decision, and Meghan is completely irrelevant.

Are they still trying to capture the "Hillary" vote? Other than RAM and a few other emotionally stunted miscreants, that didn't exactly pan out the first time around.

Meghan's father was forced to admit to abandoning his family to be in DC. When Tom Gosinski outed Cindy for stealing the children's drugs from her charity, it also came out that Meghan was an out of control cursing brat. Much like Tripp Johnston. The McCain's never make up for transgressions and they rarely do the right thing. They set a rotten example and need to clean up their own past.

The original 'spec ops insertion' plan from the Brass was to send just two StealthHawk choppers. Two teams of SEALs armed with light weapons. Likely their heaviest weapons were suppressed HK-416 assault rifles, maybe an M240 machine gun and rifle-slung M203 grenade launcher for perimeter security. In, out, totally ninja.

Obama rejected this plan, saying he wanted the SEALs to have enough back-up and firepower to fight their way out of the country if need be.

Obama nixed the idea of commandos hunkering down to await diplomatic rescue. He worried that the Navy SEALs conducting the mission could end up as hostages of the Pakistanis, and he told McRaven to ensure that the U.S. forces could escape the compound and return to safety, whether or not they encountered Pakistani resistance.

“Don’t worry about keeping things calm with Pakistan,” Obama said to McRaven. “Worry about getting out.”

McRaven added additional forces; a second group of SEALs would be prepared to take on any Pakistani forces that might try to intervene.

The pace of the meetings in the White House—still involving merely a few aides—and at the CIA and JSOC picked up.

So added to the mission were two MH-47 Chinooks with SEALs likely armed with heavier weapons such as M240 machine guns, SCAR-H battle rifles, XM25 Grenade launchers, LAW rockets. The choppers themselves most likely armed with Mark 19 automatic grenade launchers and Gatling guns. They infiltrated the country and stayed in a staging area a few minutes away from the target compound.

We all know what happened. One of the Stealth Hawks crashes in the compound yard (lives of the team saved by a brilliant last-second maneuver by the pilot, whom Obama singled out for a hug when he met them at Fort Campbell.) The assault continues successfully, but there's no way all the team members plus OBL's body plus the intelligence are getting home on one helicopter.

One of the Chinooks is called in, and everyone comes home. Without these two choppers ready for support, it would have extended the time on the ground by 25-40 minutes waiting for choppers from Afghanistan. Even if they'd managed to get out without alerting Pakistani ground forces...they'd have still been in the air in Pakistani airspace at the time the first Pakistani F-16s were scrambled to reports of unidentified helicopters, explosions, and gunfire in Abottobad.

Obama's insistence on back-up saved the lives of everyone involved, mitigated the risk of a war with Pakistan, and brought back the intelligence cache used to decimate Al Qaeda's senior leadership in the months since.

If Obama had been a rubber-stamp 'defer to the generals' C-in-C as Republicans constantly insist he should be, the mission could have unraveled into disaster. With US soldiers caught in a direct confrontation with the Pakistani Army.

Again the question becomes...would a President Romney have made the same decisions that lead to May 1, 2011 being such a tremendous victory for America?

Would he have made the hunt for Bin Laden the #1 national security priority? (He had said no.)

Would he have sent back to Afghanistan the special operations personnel and intelligence resources to bolster the hunt? (he wanted to keep 30,000 troops in Iraq)

    ReplyDelete
  6. Anonymous4:45 PM

Would he have taken the risk to target the Abottobad compound, even though there was only circumstantial evidence Bin Laden was there? (he attacked Obama for suggesting we reserve the right to target Al Qaeda inside Pakistan.)

Would he have refrained from sharing our intelligence with Pakistan (he has said keeping up our relationship with Islamabad was more important than killing terrorists.)

Would he have gone with the special operations option, instead of an airstrike? (he's risk-averse and his national security team is loaded with the same sort of neocons that favored airstrikes over troops at Tora Bora.)

And would he have overruled the initial 'two-helicopters' plan that had it been used would have risked the possibility of another Black Hawk Down incident in the heart of a nuclear-armed country? (As noted earlier He has said Presidents should 'defer to the generals on such decisions.)

The grit, skill, and determination of our armed forces and intelligence personnel is what made that night so tremendously possible. But these brave men and women still need a commander-in-chief who will give them the proper mission and the proper tools for that to happen. Thanks to a series of bold decisions made by President Barack Obama, those heroes had the best chances for success.

Romney - Residual Impairments from 1968 Brain Injury?

My background in neuropsychology affords me a somewhat unique perspective on Mitt Romney. I’m finding and accumulating evidence that he may show subtle but significant signs of mental impairments from a 1968 brain injury.

It tells of his having been seriously injured in a car wreck in France in 1968, so severely that he was declared dead at the scene. And while he was later said to have only sustained a concussion, his apparent prolonged unconsciousness suggests that traumatic brain injury (TBI) would have been a more appropriate diagnosis.

    More to follow. . .

Full video that CNN conveniently edited:

MCRAVEN: And we understood that there were some strategic implications to it.
But, at the end of the day, it was what we had been doing really for 10 years. The president and his national security team - I'm not a political guy, but I will tell you, as - as an interested observer in this, they were magnificent in how they handled the start to finish.
We went through a number of meetings. The president asked all the right questions. His national security team, with Secretary Gates, Secretary Clinton, Chairman Mullen, the vice chairman, Tom Donilon, Denis McDonough and John Brennan and others, really did a fine job of digging down to find out the facts, to make their recommendations based on the facts.
And of course the president gave me ample time to prepare once the concept was approved. But at the end of the day, make no mistake about it, it was the president of the United States that shouldered the burden for this operation, that made the hard decisions, that was instrumental in the planning process, because I pitched every plan to him.
So any indication that Bill McRaven ordered this raid, led this raid was, you know, the key piece of this raid is just patently false.

BLITZER: But you're a Navy SEAL.

    MCRAVEN: Yes.

He's not the only shill out there by any means, but he's been at it longer than most. He's not always on the wrong side of each issue, but realizing what his agenda is helps give you a read on his bias. Clever editing like this is why CNN is Fox Jr on the neocon mess. CNN sells more ads when we are in an active phase of a war. They figured that out in Gulf War 1 and you can count on them to bang on the war drums. Self interest.

Excuse me, but what the bleeding hell is this?

    OUTDOOR SIGN

I expect that we'll soon have another mournful column from, say, Dan Balz, telling us how this is the dirtiest campaign he's ever seen because the president said something mean about Willard Romney's business career. If they hadn't run that commercial with the unemployed guy talking about how his dead wife couldn't get health care, then these fine citizens from Indiana wouldn't have been driven to such terrible incivility. Here's his first interview....

"I think it's fine... They have the right to say that," said Sue Chilberg, who's active in the Tea Party of Michiana Action Coalition, or TEA-MAC, an Elkhart County-based tea party group. She sees the billboard message as a call "to do something about the very real threat of socialism." Chilberg noted charged messages coming out of the Democratic camp, including a controversial and disputed ad suggesting GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney was somehow responsible for the death of a woman who had cancer. "No one says a word about that," Chilberg said.

Sister Chilberg appears to be something of a piece of work and, of course, she's at the forefront of Michiana's effort to keep the UN from stealing all its golf.

    Both sides do it.

No, but, even it that were true, only one side is truly out of its gourd.

The Birthers Who Are Swiftboating Obama Don’t Want You To Talk About This

Here’s what You People need to know about the Swiftboating of Obama on the bin Laden raid is all about. The efforts to diminish the exemplary accomplishments of President Obama are backed by a number of groups, one of which is called “Special Operations Speaks” (so cute how they try to label their operation as if it’s a real military operation). SOS is headed by a birther, so there’s THAT itty-bitty discrediting of the entire effort, designed to diminish the President’s accomplishments as Commander-in-Chief.

Foreign Policy reported on the man who is silly enough to claim to be the leader of “SOS” today:

...After nattering on about how some bizarre conspiracy theory regarding who Obama’s “real father” is, he throws in this craziness, “Barack Obama’s a born red-diaper baby. He’s a socialist.”

Okay then. His allegations are silly Breitbartesque irrelevancies that only scream “We can’t stand that Obama is a strong leader! WAAA!” Their accusation is that Obama leaks things and therefor is doomed to failure, but of course, Obama has been successful beyond their wildest dreams when it comes to national security, so it’s probably best if they just let him do his thing. He hardly needs “advice” from folks who can’t read or use Google.

Furthermore, if it’s leaks they are worried about for real, then surely they’d be wasting money making videos about Mitt Romney’s M16 leak. No? Right. Because this isn’t about the facts, it’s about an agenda.

    What’s the agenda?

The agenda is to attempt to take Obama’s strength and turn it into a weakness. In conservative Republican view, it’s not about the country winning, it’s about their side winning. Thus, when Obama got Osama, they were devastated. DEVASTATED. These alleged patriots could barely manage to force even a remote appearance of pride, relief, or patriotism.

    1. Obama's objective was not to optimize when he would have political cover but quite the opposite. He wanted to give the best odds for operational success so our men didn't put their lives on the line in vain. It was a major political gamble, but with calculated risk because Obama had control of making the decision in different scenarios. There was no slam dunk operationally or diplomatically.

If you recall, Carter was blamed because of the lives lost in attempting to free the hostages in Iran, and it was probably the final nail in the coffin, so to speak, for his reelection bid in spring of '80, IIRC.

There are always competing forces, as we see with the big super-PAC interests. None will "lose", but some will win bigger than others.

If the end result of this election is that we end up having to stand behind Israel striking Iran, only the international oligarchs and military industrial complex win. That's where we are. Right now, it looks like it won't happen because Obama has Bibi's nuts in a vise as long as we don't have a veto-proof Senate and House both in Repub hands.

The Zionists will gain less because they are in favor of Israel gaining more control of ME affairs. If we allow Israel to drag us into the ditch again, shame on us. Adelson, Kristol, Perle, Cheney, Bushes, are all neocons. PNAC. Enough said.

AS an 23 year vet who served under both Bush's, Clinton and retired under Obama, I am personally appalled by these vets. I watched the Commander in Chief during his Bin Laden speech and he did thank all of us for our service (military), he even thanked the previous 2 administrations (Clinton and Bush). The Commander in Chief is the only one who can give the order to kill a high level person like Bin Laden. If the mission would have resulted in all the seals losing their lives or being captured by the enemy the Commander in Chief would have had a great backlash from the public and I am sure the GOP would have used it as a weapon against him as being a weak leader (like they did with Jimmy Carter), but that wasn't the case. Even all the current Commanders including then Sec of Defense Gates gave the Commander in Chief his due and called it "I worked for a lot of these guys. And this is one of the most courageous calls – decisions — that I think I’ve ever seen a president make,” Gates told CBS in a wide-ranging interview aired on “60 Minutes.”.

This group should not get no press coverage because what they are doing is dishonorable to every American and former military personnel. It's always OK to criticize policies, but what they are doing is really calling the Commander in Chief a liar. I didn't criticized former President Bush, when he landed on an aircraft carrier with the sign "Mission Accomplished" that some say was political because no matter what all Commander in Chief's gets credit when something goes good and they get the blame when something goes wrong because they are the head of all divisions of the military. Disgraceful is how I categorized this group not HONORABLE.

I'm sorry for being off topic, I never off topic but I think this is something that needs attention. Gryph, I'm sure you pay a lot of attention, as do I, about what is being discussed at Sea4Pee. But, in the last week the conversation seems to have gotten more crazy over there with many new commenters and discussions that totally seem more radical than before. I bringing up just to see if others have also noticed it, or if was just me. The conversations also seem to shift topics much more frequently than before, and are more diverse. Palin as a topic, also doesn't seem to be as prevalent as it once was.

I would like to hear if others who visit the site frequently also notice the change. Gryphen if you've noticed anything recently, let us know. I've been following the site now for at least 2 years now, and have noticed swings in topics depending on what's going on in politics, but right now it really seems far different than in the past.

What do you mean? I've never even been to that site and have no interest in it. But, is it more full of hate and anger, or what? Extreme right chitter chatter? Stuff that Todd and Sarah would promote if they were no longer in favor?

    2. Anon 5:54pm

You've no doubt noticed that most of the "regulars" have turned over 2 or 3 times there already. The ones "left behind" there were not the core group, they were stragglers coming in and all they have left is a fantasy. Because Sarah PAC is treating them as an ATM, Sarah has some shills there (multiple ID's) trying to bring Sarah's name into every story-line in the news.

The majority of the readers a men 60 yrs old+, lower fixed income on avg. men outnumber women about 2 to 1. Most are very unsophisticated politically, and believe every word they get from their sources, which all link to one another. Basically, as other RW sites have turned against Sarah, they are dropped from the rotation of links. It's not a completely captive audience, but a good number of the identities there are multiple and they are manned by shills outsourced as "postage" expenses for the PAC. These are boiler-room type operations that go 24/7 like a call center, with the shills working for multiple clients, not for Pallin exclusively with the exception of those in-house who do their personal mail and PR mailers, which are very limited.

At this point, the site is "manufacturing" news about their dear savior Sarah. For instance, they're already promoting a "rousing" speech that Sarah hasn't even given yet that is over 2 months away. lol "Sarah is always the smartest in the room and always has an unseen hand in every meaningful political event in this country, wait, make that in the world! Sarah KNOWS." Well, that's the story her shills promote, and they don't waver. Because they're being paid, mostly through a contractor, but it's all a confidence (con) scam to separate those people from their money. And it works.

But although Sarah has only contributed $15K out of over $1M received YTD, she has just had her PAC Treasurer send ANOTHER email solicitation to her flock of potential griftees. Sarah and her crew have no shame whatsoever. They harvest email addresses from "petitions", tea party kook chain letters, and from fan sites. Sarah and a handful of the "Momma Grizzlies" sell one another (actually RENT out to one another( their SUCKER lists, and then harvest the take from the solicitation.

Same business model as the televangelist scammers except using more digital communication and more sophisticated direct social media marketing instead of snail mail bc of quicker turn-around time and cheaper distribution.

But hey, we've known that a long time.

On one of the threads earlier today there is a group of IT professionals that is planning a Denial of Service attack on the C4P this weekend, unbeknownst to them. They are planning to wreak havoc on their website and it seems like they doubt that the C4P folks have an IT admin worth their salt enough to counter their attack.

So, looks like C4P is in for a rough weekend. That should be enough to make you feel better about their bad behaviour as they are about to get what they deserve :-)

I try not to be around if someone is going to be poking at a wasp nest in the barn. But I will take a can of Black Flag that shoots out about 15 feet in a stream and annihilate that same nest if I'm going to bother with it.

Hopefully the "IT" guys will take the high road and expose their operation over there at C4Palin and the shills behind the operation instead of just pestering them and giving Sarah and her PAC another chance to mooch off those poor folks that don't realize they're the mark. That site is just another "postage" expense, and some of the contributors have been slow to realize that they were working for free, not on a political campaign, but in Sarah's money making swindle of a lot of naive people thinking they're doing right and making a difference. Sarah is due for the karma she has earned to come her way. It has begun.

Shestoast, I went over to C$P this morning and found the site even more interesting, especially after reading your comment. This morning 4 commenters dominated the site with very long comment and almost all included references to other sites. It obviously took a lot of time for each commenter to write each comment, and several had 4-5 long comments each. The four commenter's were technopeasent, ZH100, wodiej, and Brainus Berkleianus. And as you surely know, all four of these commenters are some of the most prolific commenters at C$P.

Like you said, C$P must be loosing a lot of their posters and followers. I also found it interesting what you said about SarahPAC's postage expenses that many have mentioned before. I guess what I would love to see is an audit of SarahPAC by the FEC. I'm sure the results would reveal some very interesting information. Another interesting point is SarahPAC has only donated $15,000 dollars to candidates this year, but are again asking for donations from those at C$P. I feel sorry for the suckers who believe their money is going to a good cause. They could be in for a long and tragic fall if they learn how their money is actually being used. They will end up hating all politicians from that time on.

Kerry defends Obama against vets attack

"I honor and appreciate the service of my fellow veterans, but a false attack is a false attack -- no matter who's making it," Kerry wrote.

"Throughout this campaign, Mitt Romney and his allies have shown that if the truth isn't favorable to them, they have no problem claiming the opposite -- and the reality is that President Obama has a foreign policy record that is among the strongest in recent memory," Kerry wrote.

Darlene 5:55 Tell "The Body" that he needs to tighten his ass up and get behind Obama. He's no numbnuts and is pretty smart behind the showboating act.

No, Obama isn't "perfect" but all in all, he's better for the middle 50% of the country and light-years ahead for the bottom 25% earners, many who are seniors already. I don't like paying taxes but I don't like paying high insurance costs for my son to drive our cars either, but I do because I have to. I don't mind paying more in taxes either if the $ is spent for the things that benefit our country the most. I'm fortunate and most of my family are too. None of us are in the 1% but we have more than we'll ever need, and that's not to our own credit 100%. Nobody does it alone and they're full of shit if they say they did.

We didn't do it all alone, as some would misrepresent and say they did. But I'll be damned if I'm going to pay more in taxes only to have it siphoned off the top by the top .5 to 1.0% in corporate welfare because of their "passive earnings" and offshore accounts that are often closely related to money-laundering and black market investments like blood diamonds, black tar heroin, and other cash commodities via international financiers.

Rmoney's meetings with international non-dual visa citizens in Israel will be the final straw for Mitt politically if investigative journalists will dig and push for more. Those people do not want their cover blown and will tank Romney's campaign before they risk exposure.

Look a couple of levels below the mainstream media for the real story. It's always $ and the power or access to power. It's the same at the very top for both Dems and Repubs, but there's less of a network of graft below them, so at least more wealth is spread around as opposed to being funneled directly to those who need it least and do the least in the public interest. At the very top, it's not about politics, it's money and power.

Sorry about the length here. But Jesse the Body knows these same things as well. Get him motivated, Darlene. Namaste.

ARGH! if every presidential election from here on out is like this, i think i want to just go curl up in a ball somewhere every four years! or at least deactivate my facebook account for a few months.

Hang in there. You wouldn't feel bad about it if you didn't care and because you care we need you 100%. Take a break and give yourself a little room to breathe, because the nastiness will get worse before it gets better. I had cable turned off because I noticed it getting to us, trying to stay on top of everything instead if the important stuff. Hopefully it will allow a break for kids to put homework in front as a priority as well. I'm suffering worse than them at this point but I keep finding time to do stuff, I might not go back to cable until November.

I had to keep the fast Internet svc because that's a bridge too far, but right now my biggest worry is how I can spend that $150 that my cable bill just went down. Actually, I don't have to worry about it accumulating because everything we have has a need. But it's only been 2 weeks and I still know the day to day big issues, but I'm letting the propaganda on both sides go and trying to look at the "meatier" issues. As long as Karl Rove has a breath left in his body, this is how the game is played. And he's not alone. But we're gonna be fine. That includes you, too.

My boyfriend gets so steamed I think he's going to croak, so we either never turn it on or he storms off to calm down. It's mega-stressful. I don't know how Barack rises above it all every day. But rather than turn them off, the POTUS and supporters need to fire them up, too, by going head-on and refuting the lies, number one, but also presenting solid ideas and plans to continue our economic recovery.

While this attempt to smear the president is certainly despicable, I doubt it will work. Swiftboating is only effective if the public doesn't know the target of the attack. It worked on John Kerry because he was relatively unknown to most of the country and the attack was made when it was still early in the campaign.
