New Obama ad goes right to the heart of questions about Mitt Romney's finances. Oh, and guess who was warned about Paul Ryan's problems with lying?

Wow! That certainly does not pull any punches!

Which is EXACTLY how the Obama team needs to deal with Mitt Romney and his lack of transparency.

Speaking of transparency, it appears that the Romney campaign can blame nobody but themselves for the embarrassments caused by Paul Ryan's trouble with truth telling.

This courtesy of Capitol Hill Blue:

Campaign professionals vetting Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan as a potential Republican vice presidential candidate warned Mitt Romney‘s strategists that the Congressman had a “history of exaggeration and prevarication” that could become a campaign issue and distraction but the GOP presidential nominee’s team ignored the warnings.

Romney campaign insiders tell Capitol Hill Blue that an intense internal battle raged inside the campaign over Ryan’s history of blatant lies, factual misstatements and exaggerations.

Campaign insiders say Romney was so determined to capture support of the tea party that reveres Ryan that he was “more than willing” to overlook the Congressman’s casual relationship with the truth.

“Paul Ryan is a loose cannon. He’s Mitt Romney’s Sarah Palin and his involvement with the campaign will sink the Republican Party in this election,” said another GOP pro, who also asked to remain anonymous.

“When I heard Ryan was on the short list, my first reaction was ‘oh, Christ, here we go again,’ ” the longtime GOP operative said Sunday. ”The man tells so many whoppers so often that I’m not sure he even knows when he’s lying.”

Can I just say again how much I LOVE the fact that Sarah Palin is constantly being used to determine just how BAD a candidate is for VP? After all of those years of telling people the truth behind Palin's lies it is very gratifying that people finally figured her out as well.

Though to be honest it really does feel that her chronic allergy to the truth seems to have spread throughout the Republican party to a degree that is surprising even to me, and I'm somebody who NEVER trusted the Republicans. Especially during the Bush administration.

These days the push back on truth is absolutely stunning, and I am sure that somewhere Sarah Palin is combing out one of her ratty wigs while watching convention coverage and screeching "They'll never be completely rid of me, never!"

  1. I don't think that Mr. Ryan does know when he's lying or not. He's been living in the fantasy world of Galt's Gulch -- where energy is free and everyone runs sub-3 marathons on weekends for fun -- since he was in high school

I love your visual of Sarah Palin angrily combing out one of her many ill-fitting wigs while seething like the Wicked Witch of the West.

Finally, validation for you and us, of her and her family's propensity for telling lies as easily as they breathe.

Btw, the Democratic Convention is amazing! So much energy and enthusiasm... And it's just getting started...can't wait to hear from our First Lady.

Well, why the hell would Romney pay any attention to the warning about Ryan's lying? I guess the better question would be, why would he consider it a detriment? Lying is the substance and foundation of Romney's being. It was probably the deciding factor in his choice of Ryan.

Sigh. Both MuckCain and Rmoney doing the same thing. Wow, pandering to the tea and religious right wing taliban to get candidates who lie.

Gosh, I'm shocked. As they both got horrible VP candidates and vetted poorly (ignoring advice or all of what she's lacking should have been obvious in the case of Sarah). (Shocked is a snark). Thanks, guys for managing to vet poor VP candidates twice in a row.

Though Bush (Elder) had his potatoe/potato not so smart guy and Nixon had a crook in Agnew. Reagan took for VP the guy (Bush Elder) who said Reagan's economic policies were voodoo. And W got stuck with a cyborg in Cheney. Who disappeared into his secret laboratory unless it was time to come out and shoot someone in the face while hunting. Though Cheney post VP active duty has been more eager to change his legacy by lying along with and via his daughter. W just has his brother doing it for him.

Plus, here's again where I think Tim Pawlenty, for all of his brown nosing, pandering, flip flopping and lying went: Doh, they went with the other choice. Why! Why?

Also enough other boring white guys also got overlooked by Rmoney.

PS ... sorry Michele Bachmann, you're not a boring white guy unless there is something you haven't been telling people about you. And ... it's not: boring, in the statement where Mitt wants a boring white guy.

She doesn't comb out her own wigs, silly! She mails them to Willow's hair school, so Willow and her classmates can practice on them and mail them back. That's why the PAC's "postage" costs are so high, dontcha know.

Omigosh - did you just hear FLOTUS, Michelle Obama' speech? I didn't know her dad had MS - and he didn't have or need any fancy dancin' horses to cope - jut did what my dad and others did - got up and went to work, until he couldn't anymore. Then my mom did.

But Annie NEEDS her ponies - so many Mitt doesn't even know. And they are very expensive ponies

Lying Ryan....Dumb AND Lying Palin. Repubs need to VET their VP choices much better. McCain screwed his party with the Palin pick. He knows it. You know it. Romney knows it. Fox knows it. Palin doesn't know it cause she is too narcissistic....and Stupid.

FOTUS knocked it outa the park tonight! Landslide 2012.

Sarah saved his father from being the dumbest republican ever and now Lyn' Ryan has saved him from people remembering he went skinny dipping with other male congressmen while abroad( And no Brisket that does not mean they were all on top of one of your Dads hookers)

Don't you just love the pained expression on Mitt's face when Ryan was talking about cutting loop holes? I don't know what Mitt's worried about, though. He knows Ryan's lying. Maybe he was thinking "Dude! Not even in jest!"

Why wouldn't Mitt be comfortable with Ryan's "casual relationship with the truth"? They were never very close anyway.

  17. Sour grapes much, Gryphen? Sounds like you're just jealous that Ryan is the ONLY congressman to run a sub-4:00 minute mile - BACKWARDS, the ONLY congressman to drive an internal combustion engined automobile faster than the speed of sound, the ONLY congressman to land a space shuttle on a MOVING asteroid, the ONLY congressman to escape Houdini's Underwater Coffin of Death and the ONLY congressman to experience intimacy with FIVE consecutive Sports Illustrated cover models! Impressive, right?

I'm not saying he's without flaws but I do respect that that he NEVER challenges YOUR achievements. So how about you stop challenging his!

Hey, check THIS out! Did you see he's planning to jump - with a parachute, of course - from a high-altitude balloon to become the holder of the longest free-fall record in history? Wow! He's just about the coolest congressman EVER!!

And that is why I have endorsed the ticket of Mittens/Lyin' Ryan for presdient and vice presdient of the United States of Amercia in 2012.

Sarah has become the litmus test for stupid. (And she tried so hard, bless her heart!).

What's up with Mr Roboto's weird eye blinking? When he's watching Eddie Munster speak, it looks like he's either bewildered or in love. Hard to read. Needs a Software Update.

I'm guessing Romney's in love Anita. He's hooked up with someone who can hold his own & lie just as much as Mr. Roboto. A match made in heaven. Watch out "annie" you have competition.

What puzzles me though is that the media has been calling Ryan out on a regular basis, but whitewash Romney's continual & unceasing lies. He lies even more than Ryan - if that's even possible.

  19. LOL. He actually *said* that?

    He's Mitt Romney's Sarah Palin?

    Tee hee.

And they vetted the guy and still screwed up.

I'll say it again. The small elite cartel that is running the GOP knows they can't win and Romney and Ryan are their sacrificial lambs for this election. They give them their chance and forever shut them up for the future. In four years the tea party will be dead. So the ticket also serves to keep the crazies in line.

I still want to see the out takes of Couric interviewing Palin.

How does it reflect on the republicans that they want and need candidates that lie with ease? Blatant lies discredit them more than the target of their lies.

The look on Romney's face when Ryan is talking about getting rid of the loopholes most enjoyed by the super-rich is priceless. He's biting his tongue and forcing himself not to slug him in the face. Frankly, Romney has no right to run for president. Anyone who has hidden so much of his money from the US tax system should be immediately disqualified. What kind of a citizen has he been? Draft dodger and then tax cheat? Oh how the GOP likes them!

Considering that Romney has such a dubious grasp of Truth, this is hardly surprising and shows what an amoral/immoral duo these men are. Anyone who votes for them thinking that they're getting people of integrity are absolute fools.
