The Telegraph: "The question is no longer whether Mitt Romney loses the election. The really interesting conundrum is: what will happen to the Republican party when he does?"

The image that essentially sum up how MOST Americans feel about Mitt Romney.
Courtesy of The Telegraph:

Make no mistake, Romney is being lined up as the fall guy for this fiasco. And that in turn will create a round of internal bloodletting not seen since St Valentine's Day, 1929.

Incredible as it may seem to most outside observers, Mitt Romney is actually what currently passes for a moderate in today’s Republican Party. Remember, this is a man who had to overcome front-runners including Newt Gingrich, who wanted to build a permanent colony on the moon; Herman Cain, who ran a campaign ad depicting a farmer being eaten alive by his own chickens, and Michelle Bachman, who said Hurricane Irene, which killed 26 people, was God’s way of getting the politicians' attention.

Romney was sold – in the teeth of opposition from a significant section of the Republican grass roots – as the pragmatic choice, the compromise they had to make with ideology to secure victory. And when he loses, those activists are going to go as vengefully crazy as Cain’s Rhode Island Reds.

Anyone who doubts the reaction of the GOP stalwarts to Romney’s impending defeat should bear in mind this single, if chilling, fact. Most of them still think he’s going to win. They genuinely believe the polls are fixed. They seriously think the surge in support for Obama is nothing more than an "MSM" conspiracy. Some of them clearly even believe the good Lord himself will appear in the spin room at the University of Denver next Wednesday.

And when none of these things turn out to be true, the reaction will be truly terrible to behold. It will be like what happens inside one of those doomsday cults the morning after they all wake up and realize the world hasn’t ended after all. First the shock, then the denial, then finally the anger and retribution.

Okay I am not convinced that this guy is completely accurate in his assessment, but  I also do not think he is far off the mark.

What I DO know for sure is that I am going to make sure to have plenty of popcorn on had for this debacle. Because it is going to be epic!

P.S. By the way, for the few who may not know, the Telegraph is a British newspaper, so this is the assessment from the so-called foreign media. Aside from the fact that due to Romney's disastrous visit during the Olympics they think he is a twit, they really don't have a dog in this fight.

If the babies don't like you, there is something wrong with you. How about some more photos of Obama with the babies G? The babies love our President. Babies know who is good and who isn't.

I would like to encourage all of us to get to the polls the minute they open (some States are already open). Vote like a baby would; vote for President Obama - the best President in my 56 year old lifetime (although I have to say, I liked Ike when I was a baby and still like him).

I believe that if Romney loses, the far right ultra radical nutcases will foment fear and rebellion, leading to some localized armed uprisings.

Death threats against all Democratic congress folks will be increased, thanks to people like Paylin, Sharron Angle, and Michelle Bachmann

We'll probably also see a bigger trend of white Christian movements where people will band together, buy land in Montana, Colorado, and Idaho, and build their own xenophobic communities

The idea that a civil war will break out will be bandied and advocated about by lunatics like Sharron Angle and $arah and her AIP , but these loons won't have much chance against the National Guard.

Contrary to current sentiment among the Christian right, the USA will continue to function, and their constant drumbeat of "End of America" will be disproven.

Most importantly, if President Obama gets re-elected we may be able to finally see the end of a biased Supreme court stacked with prejudiced judges that come down on the side of corporations and religion.

No matter what happens, the silver lining of even a Romney presidency is that Paylin will have no chance whatever at high office due to her sullied reputation

$arah, we heard your hatred, prejudice, and ignorance in 2008, and you karma has reduced you to collection nickels from old folks for your Pac, and shilling for Lucas oil

    How fitting for you dear!

Deni, If you're going to use the word "fact" in a comment to a Palin cult member, you need to include the definition of the word for them. And besides, due do to her ignorance she doesn't seem to know that Obama hasn't raised taxes on small businesses. Her comment also doesn't have any substance to it, which of course is par for the course with these people. They simply parrot what their told.

A.J.@ 2:21... Agree with you all the way, but you forgot something:

It is not only that we have to re-elect the President, we have to vote "straight ticket" democratic, because without having a majority in Congress, the President cannot have his choices for the judiciary approved.

      VOTE Progressive!

As for the GOP I think the baggers and religious nutty extremists will break off form the GOP, then leading the way for sanity and the republicans that left the party to return.

They keep legitimately fighting to expose democrats' deceptions. I still don't understand how anyone can ignore Obama's disregard for business owners, 80% of the country.

Facts please? Business owners are 80% of the country? Then who are the 47% who rely on gov't handouts? The math doesn't work.

First of all dimwit, business owners do not make up 80% of the USA population.
Secondly as a business owner I am doing just fine with President Obama as my president.

Given the amount of damage the US does under Retard rule, I'd say everyone has a dog in this fight. It's just that only a select few of the world population gets any say.

This is all well and good, but the GOP is full of dirty tricks and we still have to get out there and VOTE.

Gryphen, I think you might be misunderestimating Mittens. Don't forget a LOT of his supporters are praying vigorously for multiple simultaneous terrorist attacks on American soil, nuclear war in the Middle East, record-breaking earthquakes in the Midwest ("New Madrid Fault" look it up), devastating hurricanes across the South, widespread flooding in New England, unrelenting drought in the Central Plains and the expected announcement of a 24 hour Honey Boo Boo cable channel (all signs of the coming Paco Lips) It goes without saying that such calamities would draw A-merkins together to elect Mittens - God's personal emissary to the 21st century - as president.

Wow...I'm surprised that a British journalist is not in on the Cain joke.

He has still never come out and admitted his candidacy was nothing but "theater of the absurd," but MOST people have figured that out.

I have to admit it took me all the way until that "X Files" campaign ad, where his manager portrays "Smoking Man" and Cain gives that winking smile, at the end.

That was my "OH!...........RIGHT!" moment--where the whole jawdropping act, gelled in my mind as a stunt.

Unless Cain finally DOES come out and admit it, I expect Fox viewers to NEVER figure it out.

      Very good point.

The fix was in from the beginning and Mittens was the Chosen One. But for the unique comic stylings of Rick "GOOGLE ME NOW" Santorum, Shelly "Crayzeeize" Bachmann, Herb "999" Cain, Newt "Newt" Gingrich and the other circus freaks of the 'primary' season, we would have had all those months to focus on Mittens. Look at all the damage he's done since he became the official nom in August. Imagine where we'd be today if that phase of the campaign had started in January...

  12. Paul - Minnesota7:50 PM

I hope the GOP/tea party majority in the Minnesota Legislature goes down. They become the minority party.

Same with their GOP/tea republican crazy in the US House and US Senate. They also become the minority party.

I'm annoyed by Michele Bachmann and other of the Minnesota tea whether in DC or in St. Paul for all of their crazy. When they're not pushing their hate, homophobia, racism and anti-women and anti-family stances, other than obstruction, all they excel at is worrying about non-issues. Smoke and mirrors.

Meanwhile, more of their government waste of resources and taxpayers money continues while they wave the USA flag and their crucifixes.

The Minnesota tea will waste taxpayer money on a constitutional amendment vote re: marriage when Minnesota already has DOMA.

The Minnesota tea worries about photo ID for voting when the amount of actual fraud is so miniscule the tea people cannot show or prove any examples of it. The tea won't consider cheaper and better alternatives as were presented by the Minnesota Secretary of State as he's a Democrat.

And save the taxpayer's money. Ha, what a frigging joke the tea are when it comes to taxpayer's money.

Thanks tea party Minnesotans, also those in DC and in St. Paul, for all your tea party waaaah about welfare, socialism and taxes.

Minnesotans only get back 64 cents on every tax dollar we send to DC (and much of it goes to enough of those red states who brag about low taxes yet love socialized welfare coming their way from higher tax paying blue states via DC. Or they'll talk about secession while loving to suck off of everyone else).

Okay, Gryphen, where'd you get that map?

And is it just an optical illusion, or has my funny shaped state (MO), right smack dab in the middle of the country, just ever so slightly taken on a faintly purple hue?

I'm starting to get a little Fired Up, Ya'll!!!

    Poor Anntoillette!

    Good Article,

ot- I love the mind games they're trying now. "Oh, Mitt had a lot of practice in the debates, he's a good debater"

"Obama's an articulate speaker bla bla bla"...

We've got to keep up the pressure, keep pushing and get a democratic congress to help Obama in the second term. Take nothing for granted no matter how good things look now.

I don't trust any candidate who tosses little people! He's got that smarmy smile while that baby's screaming his lungs out. That kid knows bad people.
