Planned Parenthood release new ad. "Yes We Plan."

Courtesy of TPM:

Planned Parenthood Action Fund released a video titled "Yes We Plan" on Tuesday, inspired by Will.i.am's 2008 Obama video "Yes We Can," urging voters to protect women's health issues by re-electing President Obama. Featuring celebrities Julianne Moore, Mary J. Blige and Q-Tip, the video mimics the original with people in the video repeating Obama's speeches -- except this time words about health care and reproductive issues. The words "plan to vote" appear on the screen at the end of the video.

"Millions of women rely on Planned Parenthood for their basic health care," Julianne Moore said in a statement provided by Planned Parenthood Action Fund. "And it is up to us—to every woman across the country — to support the only presidential candidate who gets this."

Okay that was pretty powerful and definitely lays out the argument for why women should support our President.  However it will never replace the amazing 2008 effort by Will I Am, which may have been one of the most power videos I have ever seen.

Even today it causes a catch in my throat.

  2. Ok, I seriously do not know HOW I as an extremely ardent Obama supporter in 2008 missed the Will I Am video. But somehow I did. Holy hell, that is AMAZING and truly makes me loathe Sarah Palin more for trying to put a cloud over the glorious sunlit hope that was Barack Obama in 2008.

Yes, he may have more gray hair now and he may not have closed Gitmo- but that man has worked his ass off trying to keep every promise he made to us.

And I also love "yes we plan". I really wish I could go to sleep for a week and wake up exactly seven days from right now- after the returns are in and I can start breathing easy again.

Menschie and I discussed seriously what we'd do if Romney stole the election. And stealing it IS the only way he'd get it. We would move. I know everyone joked "I'm moving to Canada!" when Bush ran for seconds. But we really would leave. Forget that Menschie's elderly parents are here in Houston, forget that I am actually within sight of becoming tenured- we would take the money reserved for our upcoming wedding and move. We don't know where- probably Ontario.

But the point is- THAT IS HOW BADLY ROMNEY SCARES US.

Don't let those assholes run you down, Nyah. STAY ANGRY 'bout what we see and hear them doing already every day, but DON'T WORRY about what they MIGHT do. Fuck those numb-nuts.

We (You, me, and about 75M others) just need to vote and get others motivated to do the same. If anybody you know is wishy-washy about voting, do what I'm planning to do--- I'm snatching their ass up and throwing them in the trunk (once the back seat is full) and taking them straight down to the polls. No vote--- no ride home. I know they'll do the right thing once I get 'em there, but hell, it might be raining or cold or their feet might hurt or they'll be hungry or some kind of old tired shit that I won't listen to... They're gonna vote and be happy they did, because it's a hell of a lot easier than having me chewing on their ass for the next 4 years for them not voting, even when Obama wins.

Personally, if there was a street fight and I saw Mittens and his gang of his micro-dick assholes had the Prez and his guys out-manned and out-gunned, I'd still feel pretty damn confident standing shoulder-to-shoulder with PBO, because he ain't just some sissy who's still wet behind the ears. Pres Obama can take care of the lyin' R&R thugs with a smile on his face and a song in his heart.

I'm just going to do my part here and you're gonna do yours there, and we just need to have confidence in PBO to close this thing out.

I just refuse to worry about what might be or what might happen when we're still on the clock here plugging away with a worthy goal in front of us. And I'm not making a contingency plan until it's over because I would've already made one if I honestly felt it was something I needed to do.

Just one more week. Harness that energy and point it at those mother-fuckers that, right now, have no choice but to continue with their psyops charade con game on the front-end, while their scrawny asses are frantic behind the scenes.

I know who will be walking around with their tails tucked between their legs eating a big ol' shit sandwich a week from tomorrow, and it ain't gonna be you, me or the Obama/Biden team.

So hang tough cuz you are.

      Hey! I missed you two!
I'm in "catch up" mode. The first thing I saw on television, once the power came back on, was a bunch of pro Romney ads in Pennsylvania.
This told me all I need to know. Nate Silver's got Romney realizing he can't win Ohio, so he's trying to flip Pennsylvania (and probably other states), but it's not going to happen. Obama still has a strong ground game in Pa., Romney has a skeleton crew. The canned goods photo op was a flop, and why?
Because PBO is handling the disaster with the chubby fellow in New Jersey suddenly on his "Best Friends Forever" list - the same guy who SPOKE at Romney's convention. This poses three problems.

PBO is doing an awesome leader,
Chris Christie is showing that PBO can reach across the aisle to get things done for everyone.
And Mitt knows he's burnt toast.

Listen to Boney, we're a force to be reckoned with.

    3. U got power! Hurray for Anita! Hope all is better or moving in that direction.

Mittens better be sure to scare the grandparents down in FL or Obama is going to punch him in the throat down there and take that state, too. His best shots are FL and VA. Other than that, as long as no one duct tapes our houses from the outside so we cant get out and go vote, things look pretty nifty.

I think Mitt was going to Tampa this afternoon. FL is a real toss-up. But he better be careful doing those "disaster relief" rallies down there, or somebody that doesn't want Medicare turned to vouchers will toss some green beans upside his head.

Fox and Friends was the best ever with Christie giving them a nice hot cup of STFU about the campaign right now. He is not my favorite, but I do love it when someone is serious about doing their job and somebody is wanting to stand around and ask him stupid questions and waste his time when he needs to be in 3 places at once.

My daughter is trying to start a business so of course she has no health insurance (she was told being female was a preexisting condition so the cost is prohibitive). So how do entrepreneurs, small businesses, get to be job makers if they can't afford to quit their corporate jobs because they'll lose their healthcare? In my daughter's case, just the cost of childbirth (let alone raising a child) would throw her and her husband into bankruptcy.

Romney Refuses to Discuss his Distorted Disaster Relief Morality

For Americans who live through a natural disaster, the feeling of helplessness during the event is second only to the aftermath when the damage is surveyed and one realizes that without assistance, there is little hope of ever recovering a semblance of normality. Because America is surrounded by oceans on three sides, chances of meteorological and hydrological disasters loom large, and when storm systems form over the ocean, phenomenon such as cyclones, typhoons, and hurricanes develop and as natural disasters go, the damage can be devastating. Climate scientists have warned for some time that due to global climate change, weather events like hurricanes will increase in severity, and along the East Coast, residents began feeling the effects of what has been termed a “Frankenstorm” due to the unique confluence of Hurricane Sandy, an early winter storm in the West, and a blast of arctic air from the North. In the aftermath of a disaster climatologists are predicting will decimate the East Coast, residents will depend on emergency relief from the federal government, and most will be thankful there is the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to give them assistance. However, Willard Romney believes disaster relief from the federal government is immoral, and he is not alone.

Romney’s New Radio Ad Reaches Surreal Level of Desperation and Fail

Instead of killing his Jeep ad lie, Romney expanded it to a radio ad. Buckle up, because this ad is much, much worse than the TV ad. It’s so bad that it pains me to have to report that a candidate for president stooped this low. Mind you, I had the Palin beat for 3 years. I’ve seen low.

The new Romney ad claims that Obama saved the auto industry for China, not for America. Then he claims that Chrysler will be moving Jeep production to China, a charge he danced around in his TV ad by implying it rather than saying it as he did at a rally in Defiance. Then he claims that when the Detroit News endorsed him they did it because they approved his “understanding” of the auto industry, followed by a claim that Romney would stand up for the auto industry. In reality the Detroit News praised Obama’s leadership for the auto bailout and I suspect they are currently trying to find a way to remove the Romney egg from their editorial board.

    Here we go. Listen here:

GM calls latest Romney auto ad 'politics at its cynical worst'

Romney Has a Christie Problem and a FEMA Problem

...Appearing on the networks this morning, Christie, for the third day in a row, heaped praise on Obama’s handling of the storm. “The President has been outstanding in this,” he told the “Today” show. On “Morning Joe,” he said, “It’s been very good working with the President. He and his Administration have been coördinating with us. It’s been wonderful.” Speaking on CNN, Christie said that he had been mightily impressed by Obama’s accessibility throughout the crisis. “He gave me his number at the White House, told me to call him if I needed anything, and he absolutely means it.” Christie also pointed out that Obama didn’t once bring up politics in their conversations, and added, “If he’s not bringing it up, you can be sure that people in New Jersey are not worried about that, primarily if one of the guys running isn’t.”

Can you imagine what the strategists, flaks, and bagmen at Romney’s campaign HQ must have been thinking when they woke up to this stuff? Deleting the expletives, it probably went something along the lines of: Isn’t this guy ever going to shut up? Evidently, the answer is no. Appearing on Fox News—yes, Fox—Christie scoffed at the idea of Romney making a visit to New Jersey in order to inspect the damage. “I have no idea, nor am I the least bit concerned or interested,” he said. “I’ve got a job to do here in New Jersey that’s much bigger than Presidential politics, and I could care less about any of that stuff.”

Obama Takes Early Lead in Hurricane Sandy World Series

...To make matters worse for the Republicans, they have had to endure the sight of one of their own campaign surrogates praising the President for his rapid response to the crisis. At a press conference in Trenton on Monday, Chris Christie, the governor of New Jersey, thanked Obama for approving a state of emergency in New Jersey even before the storm had arrived, which enables the state government to access federal funds and help from FEMA. “We appreciate the president’s efforts in that regard,” Christie said. “He and his staff worked tremendously hard.” Confirming that Obama had promised to be there for New Jersey over the coming days, the governor added: “The President assured me on the phone that we’d get his immediate personal attention.”

Doubtless, that’s true. With his adroit actions and reassuring words over the past twenty-four hours, Obama has done exactly what you might have expected a responsible President, and a smart politician, to have done. He’s looked engaged and concerned, but not panicked. He’s marshalled the resources of the federal government as best he can. And he’s kept a straight face while insisting that none of this has anything to do with November 6th. Before leaving the podium in the White House press room, he took one question, which, inevitably, was about the impact of Sandy on the election.

“I’m not worried at this point about the election,” Obama said. “I’m worried about the impact on families and first responders... The election will take care of itself next week. Right now, our number-one priority is to make sure that we are saving lives, that our search-and-rescue teams are going to be in place, that people are going to get the food, the water, the shelter that they need in case of emergency, and that we respond as quickly as possible to get the economy back on track.”

With that, the President was gone, presumably to save more lives and watch the Weather Channel. His pitch and delivery had been perfect. After the first two innings of the Hurricane Sandy World Series, with the opposition unable to do anything but watch, Team Obama had opened up a big lead.

    PLANNED PARENTHOOD?

What kind of PLAN did this PARENT have?

You're a 44 year old Alaskan woman in Texas at a conference and you're 7 1/2 months pregnant with your 5th child (not counting at least one, but maybe two other 'white-out preggos'). The baby is premature and known to have Downs syndrome. Your water breaks! What do you do?

    A) Go to a nearby local hospital.
    B) Give your speech anyway.

    Answer: B

You've given your speech and you're still leaking amniotic fluid, now what?

    A) Get to a hospital now!
    B) Go to the airport, wait through security, board an airplane, take 4-hr flight to Seattle.

    Answer: B

    You're in Seattle, now what?

    A) Get your crazy ass to a hospital!
    B) Wait for your connecting flight, board a plane, fly another 4 hours to Anchorage, AK.

    Answer: B

You're in Anchorage, the biggest city in Alaska with the best hospitals; it's been at least 13 hours since your water broke, now what?

    A) Jesus Christ-- go to a goddamn hospital!
    B) Get in a car, have your husband drive you 45 minutes to a podunk hospital outside Wasilla.

    Answer: B!

If you answered correctly to all questions, your name is Sarah Palin aka SuperMom! Congratulations, your 16 year old daughter doesn't have the pregs and you've kept the baby inside you for 14+ hours with your powerful vag-muscles and tight abs!

    Praise the Jesus!

Heck of a job planning AND parenting there, Sarah Lou! I'll bet you were laughing your ass off while accepting that 'Mother of the Year' award in 2009 after you quit as Governor of AK, weren't you?

What a great concept! Julianne Moore and Mary J Blige were wonderful! But I loved the men being included!

I'm sick of people thinking Planned Parenthood and women's health as just a woman's issue. This affects the health and well being of the entire family, and Planned Parenthood DOES offer health and educational services for men as well.
