Just another, probably hopeless, attempt to explain evolution to the ignorant.

Like I said this will probably not change too many minds, especially those who don't WANT to have their minds changed, but I always feel that every little bit helps.

What I've found is that it's easier for conservatives to slap their hands over their ears and shriek, "LA-LA-LA, Can't HEAR YOU!" rather than do the adult thing, which is to examine the evidence and draw a mature conclusion based on fact. This isn't just for evolution; it's about practically everything.

  2. Save the effort. Those who put belief before reality will never have their opinion altered by facts.
Ignorance may be curable, but stupid is forever.

Even if I didn't believe in God, there'd be a part of me that winces at the whole theory of man's evolution.

I cannot fathom that we were part of the animal kingdom. Now, we act like animals sometimes, but no great evolutionist has ever come up with the reason of WHY men have consciences, memories, emotions, can reason, transform their minds, change from their old ways, forgive, etc. - and animals do not demonstrate this. They behave instinctively. They give the appearance of having human qualities, but they don't pass the 'human' test and never evolved with vocal chords to speak.

The evolution trees explain the possible links of bodily physical evolution, but there have never been explanations why today's man suddenly is a being whose creativity, intelligence and creative potential exist. They can't explain when the being suddenly knew the difference between wrong and right.

a part of me … winces at the whole theory of man's evolution.

      I cannot fathom that …

      Cause, effect.

"Don't want to fathom" would be more like it, though.

There are so many incorrect statements there, that I'll just skip to the last one: They can't explain when the being suddenly knew the difference between wrong and right. No explanation is necessary. "Suddenly" is so wrong. There is no "suddenly" to explain.

Children learn wrong from right from their parents. Some learn it better than others, and those families prosper to a greater degree. John 15:2.

  4. Had to chuckle over everything you wrote after WHY men:
    First off humans are animals
Secondly, if you really feel that animals are inept in the human body feely departments, please explain why a dog or cat would travel hundreds of miles to get back to their loved ones?
Would a horse not learn to go near a hot wire fence if it not from memory , yet will walk over one when asked by the human- trust and bonding they all poses this trait.
Lastly, if you really feel that animals are so lacking in the emotional pantry, please explain then WHY do animals grieve a lost one?

The link to the bigger version of the graphic is not working. Aha! I've found the missing link to the Missing Link!

I never liked the oversimplification of the theory, but even explaining the processes involved over time, as this chart shows, "seems" complex. It's easier to dismiss science and embrace belief.

Reminds me of a "progressive insurance" commercial about reversing gravity

"Why am I not getting anywhere?"
    "You don't believe hard enough"
