Mitt Romney's Greatest Hits. Okay, well maybe not GREATEST.

Jesus! I swear if you look up the word "awkward" there should simply be a picture of Mitt Romney.

And yet he STILL managed to garner almost 48% of the vote in this election. Even though, and I still maintain this to be fact, he was disliked by virtually everybody who knew him best. A statement that is given even more credence by the fact that Obama won EVERY county in Massachusetts, where of course Romney had been Governor from 2002 to 2006.

In fact even those who served as supporters and surrogates, from Newt Gingrich, to Chris Christie, to even Sarah Palin, could ONLY do so minimally. And of course in the end, after Hurricane Sandy, Christie could not even bring himself to PRETEND that he respected the arrogant prick.

Still even in the face of that kind of lackluster support, Romney remained unreasonably overconfident, even going so far as to purchase $25,000 worth of fireworks to celebrate, and prematurely launching an ill conceived transitional website.

Like I said, awkward.

However to be fair Romney's support was not exclusively driven by anti-Obama anger. There were at least some who were genuinely committed to his presidency.

Oh you poor bastard.

Now I am no clairvoyant, but I predict that this may go down as the very WORST decision ever made by this young man. And he appears to be a young man with many truly bad decisions in his future.

Of course, to be fair, it could have been much, much worse.

OK folks, this isn't very good, but it's the thought that counts! My apologies to Adele. To the tune of "Someone Like You"

    I heard that you're shellshocked
and you can't believe that you lost...
I heard that your dreams fell through
Guess the libs denied you what you thought you were due..

Old friend, why are you so sad?
If you'd only released your taxes, it wouldn't be so bad...

We hate to turn up all the gloating and celebrating
But we dodged the far right-wing fear and hating
We hope you see our faces and that you'll be reminded
    That for America...it's a celebration...

Never mind, the country never needed someone like you
We wish nothing but the best for you, too
Don't forget us, we liberals, we remember you said
'Corporations are people my friend,' but your dream is dead

Nothing compares, no worries or cares
Your lies and mistakes, they're memories made
Who would have known how wonderfully sweet this would taste?

Blue Girl Liz...still living in a red state :(
    (P.S. My county went blue!)

    2. Hey Liz.

WTG in pulling your county into this century! Good Job!

I always enjoy your lyrics-tweeking, but I must admit that I get lost in the weeds whenever I venture alone very far outside of the 70's and 80's genres of music.

It helps me to have the music so you are "singing" your lyrics, so I had to find the song on YouTube. Here's a link to "Someone Like You".

I thank you for stretching my musical parameters here. Great song and incredible artist.

      Boney Boo Boo:
Well, have I got the song for you then. I'm working (yeah, it's work!) on Steve Nicks' 70s song, Landslide...Yeah, I know, it's a stretch!

I took my wallet, and I laid it down
Won the primaries and went to town
And I saw my reflection in the must-win states..
Til the landslide brought me down..

Well, I've been afraid of the truth
'Cause I've built my life around lies
      But time makes you bolder
Even Ralfalca's gotten older and I'm getting older, too

Awh, take my lies and take them down
Awh, look at Ann and look at that frown
And if you don't see me winning must-win states..
Well, the landslide brought it down

      Something like that..

When all the votes are counted, and they are still counting in many states, I think everyone will be amazed(maybe not)to learn that Mitt's share of the vote is 47%. I'd love to see the number just keep popping up in various places in his life to remind him that he lost.

It is most likely that Barack Obama won many more votes than have been officially attributed to him. There is widespread evidence of "vote flipping" by Republicans in this election, and the prior three elections. There is strong evidence to suggest that Mr. Obama won by up to 23 million votes in 2008, rather than the 9.5 million official total.

Therefore, it is possible that Mr. Romney had been assured of victory by the powers that control the counting of votes. But many more people showed up to vote than had been predicted, so it may not have been feasible to effectuate the fraud without serious risk of being discovered by the Mainstream Media.

      See Richard Charnin's research:

      http://richardcharnin.wordpress.com/2011/10/13/to-believe-that-obama-won-in-2008-by-9-5-million-votes-with-a-52-87-share-you-must-believe-…/

Also, Republicans gamed their own primaries to ensure Mr. Romney's victory.

      See: Michael Collins' articles:

Romney should have realized that a fabulously rich, religious fanatic, old, white, flip flopping male would have little chance to build a successful campaign in today's America.

And speaking of delusional, the few remaining Palinbots at C4Pee are just beside themselves with trying to figure out how their $arah, the $avior of all mankind will respond to their desperate pleas to run for Pre$ident

I had a friend once who was convinced that his wife (who had passed away) 2 years earlier was still alive. He was finally admitted to a facility for the mentally disturbed by his family after being found wandering the streets in PJ's at 3 a.m

I don't see much difference between my old friend and the lunacy of $arah worshipers thinking that Granny grifter is still alive.

It's difficult for me to understand how someone would view Sarah as more than a political dead-end, especially after riding with her on the crazy bus along the political road to nowhere the past 4 years.

It says a lot about Sarah that most wouldn't consider flattering, but it also reveals the needs by a group of people "to be led somewhere" by "just anyone" saying the right code words. I think I understand the cult of personality, but in the case of Sarah, there's such a disjoint between the perception of Sarah by "her cult" and the reality viewed by those of us who are not afflicted.

Romney loses in hometown of Belmont

The presidential race was neck and neck Tuesday night, but in Belmont the results were clear: Mitt Romney was no favorite son.

President Obama won 65 percent of the vote in the town Romney has called home since 1971. Romney received 34 percent in a race that brought out 79 percent of Belmont’s 17,822 voters.

We have a lot of work to do. America is going down the tubes in so many ways. Romney as president, and his allies, would have made us a third world country. The next four years is our chance to help this administration get us back up - to some degree.

    1. West still has cash in his war chest to try to thwart the results of the vote, but he is treading on thin ice politically for the future when he says that "it is far from over" in the manner that he does, ignoring the will of the people who voted.

He's a demagogue, not a legislator. He's proving exactly what piss-poor leadership is, by trying to force an outcome regardless of the circumstances because of potential benefits to him and him only, not his constituency.

Go ahead, burn that bridge, Allen. You'll be a better fund-raiser for the Tea Party than you'd ever be for the people of your district who don't see things exactly YOUR way.

  10. Gryphen,
Sort of off-topic. Just a couple of thoughts:

There are going to be some great lessons learned as a result of all of the hand-wringing and finger-pointing resulting from the GOP campaign meltdown. There will also be the same scuttlebutt that comes from participating in a long project launch (campaign) that involves many layers of people of different specialties (and levels of competency w/i their niche) who are thrown together into an organization with a hard deadline for launch.

The political divide between the two major parties has never been as tall and as wide as exists today. The resulting polarity prevents inter-group communication between the "camps" which would benefit both sides greatly on the issues that must be tackled together to move our country FORWARD. It's virtually impossible to move between both sides in order to facilitate functional understanding between the two sides because of the white-hot nature of the political ideologies. The end result is a very dysfunctional dialogue within the populace among the two groups separated due to the disparities between the ideals of the two groups.

The political narrative for the past 4 years is being written right now by each of the competing sides, so it's a great time to get into the operational mindset of the other side ("competitor", if you will) to understand better what got us all to this point. It’s a great time to peek into the mindset of other ideologies to help us understand their true drivers, so I hope we can take advantage of this window of opportunity here at IM to bring ideas to help us all.

I hope there’s some interest by you and the other readers here to look in-depth at the issues from the perspective of the other side to help us all learn together how to integrate our efforts with partisans of all stripes to move us all forward.

G, you have attracted a great community here of some very smart people who, along with your efforts, have advanced our discussion forward from just wondering “why Sarah Palin faked her pregnancy”. Sarah is still a pretty entertaining centerpiece at the table because she’s Sarah, but she isn’t the center of the political world except in her own mind and a handful of sycophants and operatives she supports financially. Still, she has definitely provided an avenue for discussion about why our country is so fractionalized in such a clannish, angry manner in many instances.

Here’s an interesting article that gives us a window into the nuts and bolts of the failed GOP strategy:

      At that link:

"So what caused the breakdown and why didn’t it get fixed in time? Well according to sources who worked closely with the program, the blame is at the feet of consultants.

Specifically Targeted Victory, FLS Connect, and The Stevens and Schriefer Group. While the Romney campaign did work with other consultants, they were apparently not part of the problem."

      WOW!

FLS Connect was founded by Jeff Larson, who got paid 8 Million by McCain/Palin and who was Palin's Wardrobe shopper!

      www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2008/10/sarah-palin-s-personal-shopper/307104/

Larson sold his stake in FLS Connect in 2010, but for this election cycle Larson was Chief of Staff at the RNC.

So the guy that helped outfit Sarah and Toad helped sink Romney? That's hard to believe.

The better people know Willard Romney, the less they like him. Like Willard getting only 38% of the vote in the state where he was governor while the Barack Obama got 61%.

Romney/Ryan and Ryan for House both lost big in Janesville Wi.

"Even though Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) won re-election at the same time he was on the national ticket, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel notes he was crushed in his hometown of Janesville, WI by challenger Rob Zerban (D), 55% to 44%. Ryan had never lost Janesville in a re-election campaign before.

In addition, the Obama-Biden ticket defeated Romney-Ryan ticket in Janesville by a whopping 25 points, 62% to 37%."

    politicalwire.com/archives/2012/11/10/ryan_lost_his_hometown_badly.html

    The best part:

"And the GOP ticket lost the battleground state of Wisconsin by 7 points in a race Republicans thought would be far closer. In Ryan's southern Wisconsin district, the Romney-Ryan ticket ran about 3 points behind Ryan the congressional candidate."

I just commented to my husband last night about the fact that he and the media never really mentioned his FAILED record as a Gov. here. Just glossed right over that one. And the idiots who never bothered to review his ONE credential holding public office well, shame on them. If they had they would have gotten the gist. Did nothing but raise taxes and lose jobs. People left the state in droves during his tenure. Not enough people IMO, really knew about his terrible job performance.

Well now I have to go and read some superficial entertainment news or something because I'm going to a party tonight and probably shouldn't talk politics because it's a mixed crowd.
