Louisiana judge finds Bobby Jindal's school voucher program unconstitutional.

"I'm sorry what's unconstitutional?"
Courtesy of the Washington Post:

One of Gov. Bobby Jindal’s signature accomplishments, a private school tuition voucher program, was ruled unconstitutional by a Louisiana judge Friday, the Associated Press reports:

State Judge Tim Kelley said Friday that the program improperly diverts money allocated through Louisiana’s public school funding formula to private schools. He also said it unconstitutionally diverts local tax dollars to private schools.

Kelley ruled in a lawsuit backed by teacher unions and school boards seeking to shut down the voucher program and other changes that would funnel more money away from traditional public schools.

Well this is good news for the children of Louisiana at least, though of course Jindal is planning to  appeal the ruling, which in my opinion makes this statement of his about the rebranding that Republicans need to do going forward ridiculous:

Stop being the stupid party. It's time for a new Republican party that talks like adults. It's time for us to articulate our plans and visions for America in real terms. We had a number of Republicans damage the brand this year with offensive and bizarre comments. Enough of that.

Well I've got news for Jindal, if he wants his party to STOP being the "stupid party" than supporting the teaching of superstitious drivel to schoolchildren in lieu of actual science is certainly NOT the way to accomplish that feat.

Remember THIS was the type of "science" textbooks being offered in some of the schools that would be supported by this voucher system.

Go ahead Governor Jindal, tell me that funny story about how you don't want the Republican party to be the "stupid party" anymore.

That one always cracks me up.

P.S. Just on a personal note I am one of those people who has NO freaking idea why people think that Bobby Jindal is a good politician or even how he got elected Governor in the first place. He ALWAYS seems seems strangely uncomfortable and not terribly bright.

I have heard him give speeches, listened as he answered questions, and watched as others tossed accolades in his direction.  But I simply don't see it.

I'll never forget him after the inauguration, saying that Volcano monitoring should be "shut down" as MT. Redoubt was preparing to blow in Alaska, with a oil container at its base!
      What a flippin' retard!
Oh and the other retard in Alaska left as said incident was happening to go to DC for the"Alfafa dinner" with the dog killer and try to hijack POTUS but JOE LIEBERMAN stopped her ass!

classic jindal -- we don't need to monitor no stinking volcanos.

Unless you heard him speak, you'd think he was the math or science nerd. Then he opens his mouth and you realize he was never paying attention in school. No, he is one of their token minorities, much as Sarah was their token 'successful woman.' Until she opened her mouth and the venom spewed out...every single time. Also, too, remember that the bar for 'good politician' is incredibly low for the GOP. Did you notice that they encourage men who cheat on their wives to keep running for office? Meanwhile, I haven't heard a peep from Anthiny Weiner, who did NOT cheat on his wife, divorce an ill woman, or father children and not pay support. Funny how the GOP manages to claim God and righteousness, when they understand neither.

Don't forget the 'pro-life' 'family values' candidate who wanted his wife and mistress to have abortions.

The cutline for the photo should read:

"You would vote for this man for President?"

That would be a very bad choice, IMHO.

"I have heard him give speeches, listened as he answered questions, and watched as others tossed accolades in his direction. But I simply don't see it."

I can, especially if I compare him to other prominent republicans and supporters: Sarah Palin, Louis Gomert, Christine O'Donnell, Todd Akin, Trump, Sharon Angle, Ted Nugent, Rush, Beck, etc.

Not all elected, but all beloved by the gop.

Another idiotic Republican that I don't understand why anyone would support. And, he governs a state that has more poor folks than most who need the public school system! Amazing!

I'm betting that I'm not the only one who can never, ever forget the creepy speech he gave from the haunted mansion "rebutting" President Obama's state of the union speech. I can't look at the man without wanting to laugh.

They all keep saying the voucher program helps those who can't afford to get away from failing schools.

How? By making even LESS money available for those same schools? Typical circuitous stupid logic of those who want creationism taught in schools (And not just creationism, either, BTW!)

Their logic process? A fish swims. A man swims. Therefore a man is a fish.

Repubs love the fetus, not so much the born. How fast they grow and it is time for an education.

However, things are looking up for those born to Susie and Andrew Breitbart, the children who were almost on welfare.

Brietbart was forutnate to have parents that gave him a fine education. I am curious as to why a young educated Repub, in early forties with 3 children and knowing he had health problems, left a wife alone to memorialize him as leaving a needy family? One that lives in the lap of luxory. Is this how repubs do financial planning and the legacy they want for offsprings?

Breitbart's Legacy: The show stopper was the letter from Susie Breitbart, Andrew’s widow. The good folks in Breitbartland have set up a fund to help take care of Andrew’s kids. If you can, please send contributions

  10. Bobby is sooooo delusional that he thinks he's got a shot at being POTUS in 2016.

To accomplish that he wants to outdo the craziest of the TPers; in the process, he is destroying Louisiana, which was at the bottom in so many categories.

He has reversed a lot of progress achieved by the previous Dem Governor.

    ASSHOLE!

Nikki Haley, Christine O'Donell and Bobby Jiindal -all hypocrite nutjobs.

Jindal wrote an article on spiritual warfare after attending an exorcism. To protect his political career he 's since tried to deny this when confronted by saying he wrote a lot of "goofy stuff" back in college. This reminds me of the time Christine O'Donnell came out and said she wasn't a witch after admitting she practices wiccan.

When I see Bobby J, I think of the old Mad Magazine song:

(to the tune of "Try to Remember" from The Fantastiks)

Try to remember this coming November
To vote for Newman, Alfred E Newman

Alfred E Newman, though slightly sub-human
Will win just like Truman did (from Missouri)

Try him today and tomorrow you'll say
    "What, me worry?"

(I have been singing this ditty whilst watching the excellent Oliver Stone "Untold History..." series)

I sincerely thought that Jindal's retort to Obama's first State of the Union speech, was nothing other than "street theater."

Like the put on Herman Cain did, pretending to run for the job as the President.

Since that time, neither of those numbskulls have done or said ONE THING to make me believe they are anything other than clowns, pulling the legs of those simpleminded enough not to be able to detect when someone is "having them on" as the British call it.

  18. And money that should be spent on education - goes to the lawyers - the GOP won't stop until there are 2 groups left in their world - the 1% and the downtrodden ignorant home schooled/church schooled working poor. The rich white man has to get his slaves from somewhere.

Why anyone votes for the GOP in Louisiana is beyond understanding - the comparison between the aftermath of Sandy & the aftermath of Katrina - shows how you can dumb people down to vote for those who would do them massive harm.
