Courtesy of Politico:

“It’s going to sting,” Jesse Benton, McConnell’s campaign manager, warned to any candidates considering a run. “We’re going to make sure that you don’t come out with your nose clean. We’re going to drive your negatives up and very aggressively and publicly litigate your record before the citizens of Kentucky.”

Could you imagine what would  happen to Mitch McConnell's campaign if they used THESE tactics against America's sweetheart Ashely Judd?

They would be crucified!

I really don't know if Judd is seriously considering this Senate run, but after watching McConnell literally filibuster his own bill the other day it certainly makes him appear to be ripe for defeat. And she is certainly the woman to do it!

And she has already put the fear of God into at least ONE Kentucky Senator, Rand Paul:

U.S. Sen. Rand Paul told a Washington, D.C., radio station Wednesday that actress Ashley Judd was "way damn too liberal for our country and our state."

In an interview with WMAL in Washington, Paul was asked about the possibility of Judd running against him in 2016."I heard she lives in Scotland," Paul said. "I thought she was running for Parliament.

"She hates our biggest industry, which is coal," Paul said. "So I say, good luck bringing the 'I hate coal' message to Kentucky."

That sounds like fear to me.

Republicans are so creepy! It is as if the GOP has forgotten, if it ever knew, how to run an honest campaign and then letting the people make their choice.

  2. They’ll throw everything at her plus a sh@tload of lies, but she strikes me as an outlier. It won’t break her heart if bad things are said about her since she won’t care. They may even enlist her mother and sister, but I can see Ashley getting determined and pushing forward. I think politics is her future and she’s getting an earlier start than Elizabeth Warren. That’s all good.

Is the liar whimp Rand Paul going to have his campaign manager knock Judd down and step on her head like he did in 2010 to a woman?

Paul's really chickenshit. He's a big lying talker but checkenshit. Time to cut his legs out from under him.

McConnell's easy target now. Judd does own property and lived in Kentucky for some time. Sufficient time for her to 'move back' for her residence.

  5. I seem to remember that a certain loser/quitter from Alaska got her knickers in a twist over Ashley's opposition to hunters being able to shoot wolves from helicopters in Alaska.

Ashley could do well now that she's on the loser/quitter's shit list.

Ashley runs circles around idiot Sarah Palin - especially in education.

I'm from Alaska and totally agree w/Ashley's stance on wolves being shot from helicopters. Think it's horrible!

McConnell's a blithering old fool that needs defeated, badly. Watching him the other day make a complete asshole of himself just confirms it. McConnell's stated goal in 2009 was to make 'sure Barack Obama is a one-term president'. Screw the old fucker!
As for Ashley Judd, well, I like her and all, but her stance against mountaintop removal will hurt her badly in a coal mining state.
Plus, I'm fairly sure Mama Judd is a stanch Republican, you know cause she's so Christian and such...(snicker, snicker) Which means there would be any Judd reunion concerts to fund raise for Ashley!

Her stance against mountaintop removal is not going to hurt her at all here in Kentucky. Mountaintop removal is a hideous method of coal mining that many of us oppose and, for the record, coal is nowhere near a top industry here in Kentucky. Hasn't been for ages.
Naomi Judd may be a Republican, but so am I. I despise Mitch McConnell and so do many other Republicans here in Kentucky.

McConnell has a closet full of secrets to keep hidden. Number one: Why was he discharged from the army after only 3 weeks, for an "incident in the showers"?? Why was he bawling like a baby when one of his aides (male) left to take a job only blocks away from his office?? This chinless old fart needs to have his ass handed to him (if he has one, it might be as difficult to find as his chin is!)

As much as I would love to see her unseat Mr. closeted botoxed turtle face I bet there is alots of embarrassing stuff they could dredge up about her. Racy scenes in movies she has done, there have rumors about her and her race car husband, etc. And the Judd family is pretty dysfunctional so probably stuf there as well.

And she is a "Hollywood starlet" (or was) so sarah's head will explode.

But I don't think she can unseat turtle face.

I saw the Paul statement yesterday and thought 'they are afraid of her running'! Coal isn't the biggy anymore - natural gas is - is he that uninformed?

After seeing Ashley interviewed a year or so ago, I remember thinking how articulate and interersting she was. Then I did some checking into her background because I only knew her as an actress (and a good one at that!). She is very, very well educated and smart.

Go Ashley - beat the hell out of McConnell - he so badly needs to be replaced.

I have personal experience in the coal industry, and can state from my own experience that coal stated its down hill in the late 60's and early 70's. That was about the time we discovered that sulfur from us burning in coal fired in our electrical generating plants in the Midwest was having a negative effect on evergreens in the Northeast. The sulfur would get into the atmosphere and create acid rain. Then there was a very valid uproar on what strip mining was doing to our land, not just visually, but also from the acid runoff. Nothing could survive in a stream with acid runoff.

Now, we're discovering that heavy metals such as mercury can accumulate in lakes and our environment in general. Strip mining has been drastically reduced and now most of our coal comes from deep mines.

When mine owner Robert Murray claimed environmental regulations are killing the coal industry, he's avoiding what the environmental effects were before. He also lied to the public when he claimed an earthquake caused the collapse of his mine in Utah, when in fact it was caused by roof supports giving away. Murray is also not one of the better players in the coal industry, and is more interested on profits and not the safety of his miners as he claims.

That filibuster move was a total riot to watch. If Ashley does run, I think she'd be a fierce contender and could overcome any smear campaign they throw her way, that's their M.O. Look at all the strong Democratic Women who could give her advice, if she needs it!
