Men can be the most savage of beasts, but taking pleasure from the abuse or violation of a woman is something that I would hope sickens us to our core, and something that men would punish another man for with little if any sympathy.

ReplyDeleteWe are hearing about rape from all over the planet! Even in our own military! What madness is this? A father raping his daughter in Pakistan and SHE is flogged! HS football heroes drug raping a cheer leader and taking videos of the offence? The KBR employee drug raped and left for dead in Iraq? This insanity has got to stop!
ReplyDeleteAnd the whole interest in what the rape victim was wearing, because of course certain kinds of clothing are inappropriate and were the direct cause of the rape... it all sounds very Taliban-ish to me.
ReplyDeleteI don't care if a woman walks down the street stark naked. Unless she clearly and directly consents to intercourse, then any sexual act against her is rape.
No decent man -- no REAL man -- would ever take a woman by force.
Of all the controversial issues that the Republicans could have picked to make central to their platform, I'm glad that the GOP decided to become the Pro-Rape Party. That's a message that is sure to bring the people out to the polls in huge numbers, killing any chance they might have had of winning the Presidency in 2016, 2020 and possibly 2024 too!

Paul Ryan has signed on as cosponsor to the Sanctity of Human Life Act again. The original bill — which declares that life begins with fertilization, and would give states the right to ban all abortion, even in the cases involving incest, rape, or the life of the mother — thankfully died in Congress in 2011.
But now it's baaaaack, which is scary because not only is the above terrifying, there's all sorts of other creepy stuff hidden in this monster.
Like, what if a woman who was raped in a state that banned abortions went to a state that didn't ban abortions and had an abortion? Her rapist could theoretically sue to stop the abortion from happening, and probably win.
It ranks right up there with child molestation and incest.

ReplyDeleteIt was at least understandable that the easily befuddled Tea Partiers got robotically turned into proponents for no taxation on the rich, and to hate Obamacare--because there are BILLIONS of dollars at stake (and it doesn't even cost that much to buy the opinion of such dullards.)

As we know there isn't, we are left to conclude that the drive to legislate pro-rape bills by the GOP, is from nothing other than a fear and hatred of women!
When I was in high school a new kid raped a friend of ours. He entered the hospital for a two week stay the next day.

That whole meme about women who dress provocatively or look like they are "having too much fun" deserves to be violated or raped.

I've told the husband this before... if I were male I'd be disgusted with all that kind of talk; it implies men are violent animals who are constantly fighting their own natural urges to rape! And that this urge is so strong and all consuming that 1 look at a woman in mini skirt sends you right out of control into barbarians! I'd find that quite insulting if I were a male.
