Michele Bachmann still owes money to campaign workers, but refuses to pay them unless they sign a nondisclosure form. Hmmm, interesting!

Courtesy of Salon:

Over a year after she dropped out, Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann has refused to pay five staffers from her failed presidential bid, according to a former top campaign official. Peter Waldron, her controversial former national field coordinator, told Salon the dispute started when former Iowa straw poll staffers refused to sign a nondisclosure agreement that would bar them from discussing any “unethical, immoral, or criminal activity” they witnessed on the campaign with police or reporters.

Waldron said the staffers are owed a mere $5,000, and that Bachmann has more than $2 million in her campaign account, but has refused to pay unless the staffers sign the agreement. Negotiations over payment with Bachmann Finance Chairman James Pollack eventually broke down and Waldron decided to go public with the news, posting a press release on Christian Newswire this evening.

“I feel a moral obligation to see that my Christian brothers and sisters are paid for worked performed in good faith. I’ve continually communicated by telephone and email with Mr. Pollack for 1 year but he broke every promise made to me to pay the staff. I appealed to Dr. [Marcus] Bachmann for help. I appealed to Representative Bachmann’s Chief of Staff Robert Boland to intercede with Mrs. Bachmann on behalf of her loyal Iowa staff — all of whom are married, all have children,” Waldron said in the press release.

“It is sobering to think that a Christian member of Congress would betray her testimony to the Lord and the public by withholding earned wages from deserving staff,” Waldron added.

Reached my phone, Waldron confirmed the details and said the nondisclosure agreement stems from the campaign’s alleged misuse of an email list. A home-schooling group accused the Bachmann campaign of stealing the list, which was contained on a volunteer’s laptop, and then using it to fundraise for the campaign. The home-schooling group has sued the campaign and Waldron said there is also a criminal investigation pending, explaining that he spoke with police about the incident “several times.”

“They wanted us to have no further conversation [with police] without first notifying Michelle’s attorneys, and we just refused,” he told Salon. “We’ve been lied to at every turn.”

Okay so the "super religious" Michele Bachmann refuses to pay people who worked for her in good faith because she does not want them to tattle on her for breaking the law. Does that about sum it up?

You know I think these five ought to spill their guts to the police and then later on collaborate on a book. Should pay a hell of a lot more than $5000 a piece don't you think?

Pull a Palin and demand outrageous speaking fees to dish, plant news for stringers to catch and call People on speed-dial for photo-shoots. It's the Rill Amercian way to make a living without actually having real responsibilities or consequences for bad behavior and whatnot.

What I find also disgusting about this article is the mans implication that it would be expected for a NON Christian to be cheap and criminal, but not a Christian. Also that the workers deserve payment more so because they are Christian and also married with families, as though if they were NON xtian or single he would leave them to the wolves. So for me this guy is also an idiot even though he's on the surface doing the right thing, it's all for the wrong reasons. His 'Christian brothers and sisters' deserve a voice, to hell with anyone else; otherwise why would he word it that way? Christian bigotry and hypocrisy; you never fail to disappoint!

I think Bachmann used her "Christian" faith to draw these people in and promise them things for their support. I think that the "tone" you find disgusting is actually an accusatory snipe at her using faith groups then not doing the "right thing". After all she pushes her faith out there. How two faced to treat people like she does?

I'm pretty sure she's prayed about it and is just following the instructions she's received in response from the voices of higher authority in her head.

I see Marcus is coloring Michelle's hair a little darker these days. Too bad all those chemicals have given her permanent brain damage. She's a grifter and a fraud like the rest of the baggers.

Why am I not surprised? That tells a lot more about the Bachmanns that we already knew. Again, imagine that Queen dictator running the White House?

If she, Michele, has nothing to hide, then all she has to do is PAY those people. Is stealing now not an offense? Considering Michele's persistence in trying to remove Obamacare from people who need it, this just clinches the proof that she's a thief that would take candy from a baby. I hope this goes public - all over the airwaves.

She dare not speak out against others while she can't keep her own house in order.

  5. If we truly had a TWO-party system, the DNC would be offering these staffers $10,000 for their stories.

IF. This Democratic party would jump through hoops to avoid upsetting the duopoly. They like having Michele Bachmann in Congress and have expended very little money or effort to get rid of her.

I think that Democrats realize that it is better to allow this to play out. It's already in the public realm. We Democrats are happy to watch Republicans eat each other up. Interesting that these folks all claim to be Christians too.

    2. It's hard to be objective about election strategy when you live in the CD just south of Bachmanistan.

The DCCC has really put forth very little effort to unseat Bachmann. It never seems to occur to them that giving a free pass to the Bachmanns and Gomerts and Cottons just encourages the wingnut base to act out even more outrageously, shoving the national dialogue further and further to the right.

Oh and our resident troll Krusty the Klown had this to say about old Toady...

"Kristy Patullo Todd Palin is a hottie! Sarah is a very lucky girl. And please keep the politics out of it. Todd earned the cover. He’s won the Iron Dog 4 times. No mean feat. Good luck, Team Palin/Davis!

As women age, they should NOT dye their hair black - it doesn't go well w/aging skin. They should actually lighten it (not blond) w/brown coloring).

Bachmann, is not only pulling a Palin, she is also (from the picture)trying to look like a Palin. Notice the darker hair, the botoxed face, soon she will be a twin to either Sarah or Bristol, my guess is Bristol. The darker hair gives it away.
Just another Christian liar and cheater. Those people she owes money too, will never see it. Unless, they take it to court.

It's about time un-Christlike Michele Bachmann starts getting called out on her hypocrisy by religious Christians. It is far more impactful than when other people try to do it. What a nasty bitch.

If she wants them to sign non-disclosures they must know something worth dishing and if they do, they should sit tight and wait til she's running for office again and the tabloids are hot for new stuff on her. Then, sell high, as they say. Of course, it goes almost without saying that anyone who was working to get her elected was a moronic paint chip scarfing freak, so likely wouldn't figure out either to sell the story, or even what happened that was inappropriate.

These sincere Christians never seem to get that just because someone claims to be a Christian, doesn't mean that they really are one. Especially when they scream it from the rooftops and then use it to wheedle money from people. I think it's hilarious that there are so many parts of the Bible dealing with people EXACTLY like Bachmann, Palin, Robertson et al. and none of these Christians seem to have read those parts or understand them. Or they are so fucking gullible that they just follow the crowd like sheep. Or both.

Who is on Greta - Bachman or Palin? Cannot imagine Greta having Palin on w/Hillary Clinton as Sarah doesn't have the knowledge to be a viable guest.

Bachman, being in Congress and on that one specific committee, would be seen by Greta to be an interesting match against Clinton. I think I'll actually watch it because Hillary is a thousand times more experienced and knowledgeable than Bachman. Plus, Bachman comes off the cuff and says the most awful things! Hillary will be diplomatic!!!!

Typical teabagger Taliban ... she (Bachmann) is another unethical, doesn't walk her talk Christian, kind of grifter.

If her staff witnessed something criminal about her or her organization, her staff still have every right to their pay and still have every right to report the crime or crimes without interference from Michele, Marcus or attorneys.

What a waste that she represents her district in Minnesota. And ultimately represents all Minnesotans and Minnesota. Yet most Minnesotans aren't like her. We have ethics, morals, are honest ... oh yes, Michele is from Iowa, same town as John Wayne Gacy. Maybe there is some connection there (the water, air, chemical exposure, gene pool) to why she's such a shill, acting on her self-interests only, crook.

Of course I'm being sarcastic as Michele isn't the same as many Iowans who are also honest, truthful, hard working, etc.

What a Queen of and for the Tea Con Grifters.
