Stephen Colbert slams the Republicans in the Benghazi hearing for allowing themselves to be spanked by Hillary Clinton.

My favorite line: "It's not just that Hillary got emotional, slapped these guys around, and then walked out with their nuts in her attache case."

Colbert had a message for his Republican friends: “You know I love you, but it was embarrassing.” Especially when Clinton was “stomping Ron’s Johnson” — and walked out with his “nuts in her attaché case.”

      From article:
"Tradition dies hard, hardest among those who cannot admit to the toll it has taken on them. That is why the worst aspects of the South are resurfacing under Obama’s presidency. It is the dignity. That a black should have not merely rights but prominence, authority, and even awe—that is what many Southerners cannot stomach. They would let him ride on the bus, or get into Ivy League schools. But he must be kept from the altar; he cannot perform the secular equivalent of taking the Lord in his hands. It is the dignity. "

Colbert: Benghazi Hearings Proved Congressional Republicans ‘Suck At Their Jobs’

The congressional grilling of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on the deadly attack in Benghazi, Libya, proved definitively that congressional Republicans “suck at their jobs,” Stephen Colbert said Thursday. “Guys, you know I love you. But it was embarrassing,” Colbert said. Clinton smacked around the Republican members of the House and Senate committees, “then walked out with their nuts in her attaché case,” he said.

Most of us are going to piss off a woman every now and then by just being an every-day guy. But what these GOP fools are doing is about as stupid as they can possibly be.

Best case scenario, they score a few points with the asshole misogynists in their base. Not only do they piss off every thoughtful person across the political spectrum, but none of those dickheads is seeing her for the last time.

Hillary isn't like Sarah Palin--- and she's not going to do like Sarah Palin and hide behind her kids and whine and complain through 3rd parties or Twitter

When the time comes, she will emasculate each one and then humiliate them. But that's the Republican way of today.. Shit in your nest and then complain about the smell. Right, John McCain?

Conservative entertainer Rush Limbaugh has reached a new level of desperation now that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton totally OWNED congressional Republicans. In Rush’s world, there is no way that the GOP could have been so inept at nailing Clinton down on Benghazi, so the circus that allowed her to come out of the Benghazi hearing shining was, “The Cleansing of Mrs. Clinton’s Record.” He has actually fabricated a scenario in his mind in which the GOP and Democrats have conspired together for decades to make Hillary Clinton the President of the United States.

From the transcript on Limbaugh’s website:

It was a puke fest. It was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. It was right out of a banana republic. And I’ve seen it all. I mean, in my 62 short years I’ve seen a lot. I’ve never seen groveling, butt kissing, sucking up. I’ve never seen anything like Hillary Clinton’s appearance before a joint congressional committee on that Benghazi guy who went nuts over there in Libya.

It seems that poor Rush has lost hope and now has nowhere to turn.

You know what this was? This was perhaps, folks, one of the best illustrations of the whole concept that we’ve spoken here about (sic) on numerous occasions of the ruling class, the political class. It doesn’t matter what party, they’re all part of the ruling class, the political class in DC, and when the rubber hits the road, they all circle the wagons around each other. Well, the Republicans join in circling the wagons. The Democrats never do when it’s a Republican involved, but for the most part they do. They close ranks, and they protect one another because what they’re protecting is themselves.

He elaborated, saying that it’s all a part of everyone in Washington protecting the “ruling class.”

They’re protecting the ruling class, the political elites, and they’re maintaining the status quo.

Later in the show, he reiterated the GOP’s involvement in the cover-up...

President Obama Sends Video Message To LGBT Conference

President Barack Obama on Friday addressed, via video message, the 25th National Conference on LGBT Equality, also known as Creating Change 2013.

In his message, he thanked the community for "helping to lead the way to a future where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, no matter who they love or where they came from."

The first president to send a video message to the Creating Change conference, Obama earlier this week was also the first president to directly address gay rights in his inaugural address.

The GOP Crackup: How Obama is Unraveling Reagan Republicanism

In his first term Barack Obama seemed the perfect foil: A black man, a big- spending liberal, perhaps (they hissed) not even an American.

Republicans accused him of being insufficiently patriotic. Right-wing TV and radio snarled he secretly wanted to take over America, suspend our rights. Mitch McConnell declared that unseating him was his party’s first priority.

But it didn’t work. The 2012 Republican primaries exposed all the cracks and fissures in the GOP coalition.

The Party offered up a Star Wars barroom of oddball characters, each representing a different faction — Bachmann, Perry, Gingrich, Cain, Santorum. Each rose on the strength of supporters and then promptly fell when the rest of the Party got a good look.

Finally, desperately, the GOP turned to a chameleon — Mitt Romney — who appeared acceptable to every faction because he had no convictions of his own. But Romney couldn’t survive the general election because the public saw him for what he was: synthetic and inauthentic.

The 2012 election exposed something else about the GOP: it’s utter lack of touch with reality, its bizarre incapacity to see and understand what was happening in the country. Think of Karl Rove’s delirium on Fox election night.

All of which has given Obama the perfect opening — perhaps the opening he’d been waiting for all along...

Dad points AK-47 at daughter for getting two B’s in school

A St. Paul man has been charged with terroristic threats for pointing an AK-47 rifle at his daughter during an argument over the fact that she got two B's instead of straight A's in school.

According to the charges, 52-year-old Kirill Bartashevitch recently purchased the AK-47 due to fears that such weapons would be banned under President Obama's push for gun control legislation.

St. Paul police learned of the Jan. 13 incident after Bartashevitch's daughter sent a text message to a Central High School classmate, saying her father pointed an AK-47 at her. The message was seen by the classmate's mother, who reported it to a school social worker.

In an interview with the social worker, the victim said they were arguing about her grades when she swore at her father and said she "hated" him. At that point, Bartashevitch grabbed his newly-purchased gun and pointed it at his daughter.

The girl's mother said she stepped between the two, and that Bartashevitch pushed her to the ground and pointed the gun at both of them. The daughter said she wasn't scared because she didn't think the gun was loaded.

Bartashevitch admitted having a physical confrontation with his wife and daughter, and admitted to pointing the gun at both of them. He said the gun was not loaded and that he checked the chamber before pointing it at them.

St. Paul police searched the Bartashevitch home and found ammunition and receipts for two gun purchases. One receipt was for Bill's Gun Shop, dated Jan. 22, 2013. An employee of the gun shop confirmed Bartashevitch sold an AK-47 style gun -- specifically a 7.62X54R -- for $150.

The other receipt was for Frontiersman Sport, Inc., also dated Jan. 22, 2013. The gun shop confirmed Bartashevitch sold a newer AK-47 clone rifle -- a Cal-Zastava PAP 70 7.62X39 -- for $375.

Kirill Bartashevitch is charged with two counts of terroristic threats for pointing the gun at his daughter and wife. Bail was set at $20,000 with the conditions Bartashevitch have no contact with his daughter or wife.

If convicted, each charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Tennessee Legislator: Cut Food Assistance to Kids With Bad Report Cards

I wish very much that I were making this up. Or that I’m just doing a bad job trying to write absurd political headlines like the folks at The Onion.

Alas, it is true that Tennessee State Sen. Stacey Campfield has now reached a low beyond which I wouldn’t have believed even he could sink – both as an elected official who continues to waste tax dollars with his continual “stunt” legislation, as well as a human being.

Randy Neal at KnoxViews reports that Campfield has
now introduced a new bill which “requires the reduction of Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) payments for parents or caretakers of TANF recipients whose children fail to maintain satisfactory progress in school.”

Mr. Campfield is an increasingly disturbing embarrassment to his party, his constituents, and to our state. Getting this man out of office for good in the next election has to be something that people of good conscience from both political parties work together to do. As a Democrat in heavily Republican East Tennessee, I will actively and publicly support the legitimate GOP candidate of good character who looks to have a reasonable shot at ousting Mr. Campfield, if that’s the best way to get the job done.
    +++++

PS: Mr. Campfield has his own blog, and he’s just published a new post there in which he enthusiastically rationalizes his latest cruel, ridiculous and bizarre legislative proposal. I don’t know if he accepts comments, but any of y’all with an opinion to share with him could at least try leaving one.

Virginia Advances ‘Gangbanger Bill of Rights’ To Withhold Gun Crime Evidence From Federal Government

A Virginia House of Delegates committee endorsed a controversial bill Friday that would prevent any state or local government entity from providing information about gun crimes based on any federal law enacted after 2012. If enacted, the bill could prevent local police from sharing records with the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

The bill, authored by arch-conservative Delegate Bob Marshall (R-VA), aims to:

Hey, Gryphen, You really do have to check out Sarah's latest facebook. She was silent for so long and now she won't shut up. She's outraged that they won't allow a cross on the outside of a military chapel. Never mind the regulations that state that no religious symbol can be permanently affixed to a military building, she thinks that's on a par with Track's personal right to tattoo his body with religious symbols.

What Sarah doesn't seem to understand is that the building is used for other functions when it is not a chapel. They can't choose one religious symbol for the building because other religious may use the chapel as well. Most of all, there is a big big difference between a U.S. government military building and her son's skin.

Do we know for sure that we won't be seeing Sarah over there at Fox? Maybe all of these posts are an example of Sarah calling out for attention, hoping to be noticed, and getting some publicity.

After all, that money is all coming from taxpayers, the same as food stamps, just at a much higher rate.

Michigan Republican Says That Electoral Vote-Rigging Was Only Nixed in 2012 Because It Might Have Hurt Romney

The News's Gary Heinlein talks to Rep. Pete Lund, who introduced this legislation before and wants to introduce it again. Lund explains why a larger GOP majority didn't move in 2012.

It got no traction last year. There were people convinced Romney was going to win and this might take (electoral) votes from him.

My emphasis. Lund just states this as a sad accident of history, unaware that it's hugely damaging to his cause. He's admitting that the point of the plan is to give electors to Republicans. That turns this from "a controversial idea that some say would hurt Democrats" to a bill explicitly designed to hurt one party, and its urban base.

Christian radio hosts: Feminists are ‘selfish, narcissistic, family-destroying whores’

    (except for Sarah Palin)

Conservative Christian radio hosts Kevin Swanson and Dave Buehner explained on a Tuesday segment of their “Generations with a Vision” show that there are “two kinds of feminism,” the “Sarah Palin kind of feminism that wants to have a husband” kind and the “selfish, narcissistic, family-destroying whores” kind.

“Now remember, the goal is that these women have to be independent,” Swanson said on a show devoted to the idea that rising college costs were contributing to an alleged spike in prostitution. “The goal is lots and lots of birth control. The goal is lots and lots and lots of fornication. The goal is abortion. The day-after pill will help. And it will help a lot. Remember, the goal is to get that girl a job because she needs no stinkin’ husband, she’s got the fascist corporation and government-mandated insurance programs and socialist welfare that will take care of her womb to tomb. Who needs a cotton-pickin’ husband? Who needs a family? That’s pretty much the worldview that’s dominating, my friends. That’s what the college is all about.”

“Because her feminist professors have told her her husband will abuse her, she will be like a slave to him,” Buehner agreed. “Instead she will just go to the slave market and sell herself, at least sell her body, to the highest bidder. See, that’s much, much better!”

“And Dave, you talk about the two kinds of feminists now, this is your new division, you say there’s two kinds of feminists,” Swanson explained. “All of them want to be free from the family. They want to be free from the husband.”

“Right. Actually, you’re talking about perhaps even a third stream of feminism,” Buehner interjected. “There’s the Sarah Palin kind of feminism that wants to have a husband, just not one to submit to.”

    www.spiegel.de/international/germany/german-politicians-fight-catholic-church-power-over-public-institutions-a-879198.html

"Last week, the order publicly downplayed the case when it made national news, calling it "very regrettable" and "a misunderstanding."

Turning away rape victims can hardly be called a misunderstanding. On January 10, Sylvia Klauser, the order's chief ethics officer, explained to an emergency doctor the hospitals' procedures for handling rape victims. The notes the doctor made on the conversation reveal an astonishing aspect of the order's policy: As long as patients who have been raped are "responsive and capable of being moved," they are to be transferred "to a city facility." The apparent goal of the policy is to ensure that the nuns and doctors will not be confronted with a possible abortion. "
