What if you threw a Tea Party and nobody came?

"What? We're not liked? How can they not like us? Probably communist Nazis!"
Courtesy of the Rasmussen Report:

Views of the Tea Party movement are at their lowest point ever, with voters for the first time evenly divided when asked to match the views of the average Tea Party member against those of the average member of Congress. Only eight percent (8%) now say they are members of the Tea Party, down from a high of 24% in April 2010 just after passage of the national health care law.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that only 30% of Likely U.S. Voters now have a favorable opinion of the Tea Party. Half (49%) of voters have an unfavorable view of the movement. Twenty-one percent (21%) are undecided.

Color me unsurprised. I knew when these lunatics first came on the scene that they were a flash in the pan, and watching Sarah Palin come out as their queen only drove that point home.

They are now disliked more than both Muslims and Atheists. (Hey!) In fact the only group that people dislike about as much is the Religious Right. (Now we're talking!)

Of course that is not stopping the truly wing nuttiest among the Wing nuts in believing that the future of America rests with this lunatic fringe.

Here is what Right Wing shock jock Michael Savage had to say yesterday as reported by WND (Pretty sure that stands for Wing Nut Douchebags):

“There is no Republican Party,” Savage told fellow talk show host Aaron Klein. “It’s an appendage of the Democrat machine, as we’ve all just seen. It’s two-card Monte, as we well know. It’s a game being played against the American people. You’ve got the drunk Boehner on the one side, and the quasi-pseudo-crypto Marxist on the other, who is really just enjoying the ride in Hawaii right now, representing his factions.”

Instead, “We need a nationalist party in the United States of America,” said Savage on WABC’s “Aaron Klein Investigative Radio,” suggesting a party focused on “borders, language and culture.”

He continued: “You have the rudiments of a new party in this country called a tea party. They need to restructure their party. They need a charismatic leader, which they don’t have. When you say, ‘Tea party,’ no one knows who the leader is, because there is no leader. No man has stepped forward who can lead that party – no one who is an articulate speaker, a charismatic mover of people.

“The tea party is the rudiment of the new nationalist party,” Savage explained. “Somebody has to bring them all together, unite them like King David did the ancient tribes of Israel. And there is no King David out there. Who’s the King David? Tell me who is going to do it?”

Okay you all know that I don't believe in prayer, but if I COULD have one prayer answered it would be that the Teabaggers splinter off and form a third party that would siphon off Republican voters.

Oh, and could they put Sarah Palin in charge of the party? Pretty please with sugar on top?

I know, never gonna happen.

Boy sometimes it sucks being all reality based and everything!

P.S. how appropriate is it that this post follows the one about an Alaska militia moron getting sentenced? It's almost like I planned it.

One thing you gotta say about the Baggerites. Dangling Tetley bags and tricorn hats perfectly emphasize the vacant, deranged look in their eyes.

So very true! And now when we call them baggers, they get all indignant & pretend they never said they were tea baggers & weren't all walking around with tea bags hanging from their hats, their glasses etc. And their oh so brilliant move of dumping truck loads of tea bags on the lawns of Democratic organizations. They tried to blame us for falsely maligning them. The stupid - it burns. RFLMAO!

When the Tea Party first showed its ugly head with a recruiting meeting in our area, one of the top people at my place of work asked me to go with him to join up. Having been curious already about them, I had looked up some of their "ideas" and found it insanely ludicrous. So when he asked me that I simply laughed.

He asked me what I was laughing at and I said to him, "Well, at least you are THINKING about getting the hell out of the Repubes Party! These people are ignorant and short sighted. They'll be a flash in the pan and cause trouble. Period." He got ticked, which only made me laugh even more.

He is now a Democrat because he actually did some research on the platforms!

It's nice to know there are still a FEW intelligent people on that side of the aisle.

Smart enough to get the hell OUT.

Are the Democrats great? No. They have their foibles as well as the other groups. But they have one thing going for them that the others can't seem to understand - an ability to THINK and compromise, which is the basis for true governing.

Guess it's a good day for you, G. Two achievements in one day.

I read somewhere that Chuck Jr. (Heath) made a facebook post or some such post on his blog, discussing a possible nationalistic third Party. He mentioned (coincidentally?) about it needing to be open to culture, and unity. Then he spoke about good people who wouldn't play the politics game, like his sister. Sounded like an effort to gain support for her to take over a third party, IMO.

    Coincidence? I think not.

Yes the grifting proceeds over at the Asylum. Today the poor devils are all atwitter because they got a letter from BaldyPAC, supposedly Ted Cruz thanking Baldy and the inmates for sending him money. Stand by for the soon to follow request for couch change! Times are rough over there though - no Baldy on Fox for BrianBig Anus to slobber over. Recently one of them called the Dalai Lama a Marxist and another regular said we need more Senators like - yep - Joe McCarthy! So a "nationalist" party run by Chuckles Baldy and Herr "RAM" Goebbels as propaganda minister? Perfect.

Based on my reading, isn’t Chucky Jr. trying to pretend Sister Sarah will lead this third party? Tear your couches apart Palinbots, the queen needs your loose change. Gotta love it!

Gun Control Group Releases Ad Featuring Mother Of Girl Killed In Tucson Shooting

Mayors Against Illegal Guns, a gun-control initiative co-founded by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, released on Monday an ad as part of the group's "Demand a Plan" to end gun violence campaign featuring the mother of a girl killed in the Tucson, Ariz., shooting two years ago. "I have one question for our political leaders: When will you find the courage to stand up to the gun lobby?" Rozanna Green said in the ad. "Whose child has to die next?"

The ad goes on air Tuesday in Tucson, Ariz.; Waco, Texas; Roanoke, Va.; Fargo, N.D.; Denver, Colo.; Binghamton, N.Y.; and Milwaukee, Wis. It will continue to air in the Washington, D.C. market through Jan. 14.

The fact that Dick Armey was paid $8 MILLION to get out of the leadership of these people says it all. They have been fleeced. Once $carah saw that, she goes into high gear, money to be made there. Anyone who even THINKS she is any type of a leader needs their head examined. Her entire family jumps aboard, free money for little work is right down their alley. Their combined I.Q. would not even equal our President's intelligence.

The conservative movement is still an elaborate moneymaking venture

The story of FreedomWorks' big Glenn Beck payout encapsulates the right-wing media

The conservative media movement exists primarily as a moneymaking venture. As Rick Perlstein explained in the Baffler, some of the largest conservative media organs are essentially massive email lists of suckers rented to snake oil salesmen. The con isn’t limited to a couple of newsletters and websites: The most prominent conservative organizations in the nation are primarily dedicated to separating conservatives from their money.

FreedomWorks, which is funded primarily by very rich people, solicits donations from non-rich conservative people. More than 80,000 people donated money to FreedomWorks in 2012, and it seems likely that only a small minority of those people were hedge fund millionaires. And what are people who donate to this grass-roots conservative organization funded mostly by a few very rich people getting for their hard-earned money?

It's truly beyond pathetic how the Palin/Heath tribe cannot accept that NO ONE except the lowest of IQ believes their schtick. They should be thankful they had their 15 minutes and MOVE ON. The harder they try to be in the conversation, the dumber they come across.

    Dear fellow American,

Two years ago, a mentally ill young man shot me in the head, killed six of my constituents, and wounded 12 others. Since that terrible day, America has seen 11 more mass shootings – but no response from Congress to prevent gun violence. After the massacre of 20 children and six of their teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary though, it’s clear: This time must be different.

Americans for Responsible Solutions will encourage elected officials to stand up for solutions to prevent gun violence and protect responsible gun ownership by communicating directly with the constituents that elect them.

Join us today, and tell your elected leaders that Americans are demanding responsible solutions to reduce gun violence.

Please take a moment to read our op-ed.

My older sister is a self-proclaimed tea party follower. She has always been attracted to fringe groups. Between the ages f 18 and 30, she was involved in a religious cult. She divorced her husband, and left the cult. Next she became a "witch", and embodied everything Wiccan. After the stint as a witch, she started being involved in creative anachronism, and pretended to live in medieval times, and follow Renaissance Fairs. Now, she is tea party. It's all about being on the outside to her.

His wife said she j*wed someone down in front of my Jewish wife and will use the n word in casual conversation. And they have a McMansion in the whitest county in the state. Also very "Christian."

Heidi Heitkamp Gun Control Criticism Attracts Ad Campaign By Advocacy Group

Gun control advocates are launching a hard-hitting series of ads on Tuesday targeting newly elected Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.), who has criticized gun law reforms.

The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence will run advertisements in the Washington publications Politico and Roll Call in addition to North Dakota newspapers, calling out Heitkamp for criticizing comprehensive gun control reform.

“No parent should have to send their children to school wondering if they will come home,” the ad reads. “Shame on you, Senator Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) for telling the country on Sunday that the Obama Administration’s response to Newtown -- which may include universal background checks and a ban on assault rifles and high-capacity ammunition magazines -- is “extreme.”

Perhaps I'll got back to drinking tea in the next little while. The teabag association and their lunatics kept me away. (Of course, I could brew a pot of loose tea, but there's not as much time today as there was at Downton Abbey. Memo to self: did they have 24 hours, too, or more?)
Anyway, I've come to like coffee, it's immediate jolt, it's straightforward promise of caffeine, and then the day begins.

If those tea bag idiots even realized that the tea thrown in Boston Harbor was crates of loose tea (a couple of centuries before the tea bag was invented), how would they demonstrate their "tea-ness"? It doesn't bear thinking about.
If they think they don't have representation, why do they vote? Why do they have elected officials in the House of Representatives. Just because the majority of Americans reject tea-baggers doesn't mean they haven't made themselves heard.

  17. I'm partially in agreement with Savage's notion that the Republican and Democratic parties are connected at least to the extent that they work very very very hard to maintain their duopoly. If there were a significant group of "other" congressvarmints then it would be far more difficult for either the R's or the D's to maintain the level of control currently handed to the "majority" party.

There was a letter in my local GOP-run paper last night from some elderly woman who is convinced that the government is coming to get us. She sees Hitler in our future, and thnks the only way to be secure is to have enough weaponry to take on the US military. Can we require IQ tests and senility exams of everyone in this country? I mean, I bet we'd have enough GOPers for a mental hospital in every county in the nation...and look at the jobs for health care workers!

“We need a nationalist party in the United States of America,” said Savage on WABC’s “Aaron Klein Investigative Radio,” suggesting a party focused on “borders, language and culture.”

As several people have noted, this sounds suspiciously like Nazism, the National Socialist party of Germany that promoted fascism. They are white Christians who are trying to eliminate any trace of "foreignness" in American culture--especially if it is black or Latino. They can't expand the borders of the US, but they can expand its influence through war. They fantasize over building a wall on the Mexican border. They developed a mythology about business and corporations which allows them to have extraordinary powers, primarily through their secret political contributions.

Fascism also centralized power in the hands of a dictator. They're doing that quite well at the state level, where reactionary Republican governors have used their powers to destroy labor and education--two traditional countervailing forces.

I am depressed that in my lifetime I have to fight fascism twice.

America is Not a Conservative Nation: More Voters Identify as Democrats than Republicans

...Republicans have spent decades arguing that America is really a conservative country. (This bit of myth making can be traced back to Richard Nixon’s silent majority.) The numbers actually tell the story of a country that over the two decades has been moving left. However, one specific shift that is blowing the notion of America being a conservative country to smithereens.

The Republican Party’s move to the far right has resulted in moderates moving more in line with the Democratic Party. Conservatives are fond of using Gallup’s ideology poll to justify their America is a conservative country rhetoric, but the 2012 poll showed conservatives outnumbering moderates and liberals 40%-35%-21%. The problem for Republicans is that Obama carried moderates, 56%-41%. The majority of moderates are currently moving away from the Republican Party.
